Fotoğrafçının aklında bir süredir bu kare vardı. Nesneler tepedeyken, ışık atmosferik hava tarafından en az dağıldığından parlaklıklarının en fazla olduğunu biliyordu. Ayrıca, Samanyolu Galaksimizin merkezinin, Güney Avustralya’da yılın bu zamanlarında gece yarısına yakın bir yerde olduğunu biliyordu. Zihnindeki resmin peşinde, bu açıklıkta olmasa da uzun monteri çamlarının gökyüzünün çoğunu kapattığı Kuipto Ormanı’nın derinliklerine daldı. Orada, ağaçlarla çevrili bir çerçeveden, yerel ve uzak doğanın hayalindeki kombinasyonunu yakaladı. Ağaçların ve Samanyolu Galaksisinin, her ikisinin de on altışar pozu kaydedildi. Antares, Galaksimizin merkez düzleminin solundaki parlak turuncu yıldız, Alpha Centauri ise görüntü merkezinin hemen sağındaki parlak yıldız. Galaksimizin merkezini işaret eden yön ise Antares’in altında. Birkaç saat içinde Dünya’nın dönüşü Galaktik düzlemi yukarı ve sola doğru hareket ettirdiyse ve kısa süre sonra görüntü ağaçların ardında görünmez olduysa da, hayal ettiği görsel sonsuza dek güvence altına alındı, ve burada gösteriliyor.

Today we had some quality family time in the forest! It was the first time I’d ever been to Kuipto, and apparently this is the best time of year to go, and the photos definitely show why!
