âAre you all packed?âÂ
Soonyoung is stretched out on your bed, watching you search through your closet. You sigh when you canât find the one sweater youâre looking for.
âAlmost,â you say.Â
âItâs on the drying rack in your spare bedroom,â he says.Â
You spin around to look at him, eyebrow raised. âWhat?â
âThat sweater you love? The one you pull out the second itâs cool enough?â Soonyoung prompts.Â
You give him a look, but donât say anything. Instead, you walk into the other room and find heâs right. The last thing you want to throw into your suitcase is actually exactly where he said. You check that itâs dry before retrieving it to fold and tuck away.Â
âHow?â you ask when you reenter the room.Â
He just shrugs. âI donât know, I guess I know you pretty well.â
That tugs at your heartstrings a little, especially this time of year. Because itâs true. Hardly anyone knows you as well as the beautiful man sprawled on your bed, scrolling through his phone. Yet, heâs also the one that seems to hurt you the most. Always exactly where you need him to be, but never quite within reach. This kind, wonderful human that surprises you with things that remind him of you, but canât (or wonât) come with you for the holidays to a beautiful, snow-covered resort. Itâs not worth bringing up againâŚ
âAre you sure you donât want to come?â you ask.
âŚbut you do anyway. Like the sucker for pain you are. Like somehow the answer is going to change from the last time you asked.
This does make him look up, at least. Itâs hard to see the look he gives you. Itâs a little comforting that he does look sorry. Not quite enough to ease the ache in your heart. Thatâs neither here nor there, though.
âI just donât think itâs a good idea,â he answers.Â
âI know,â you sigh.Â
And you do know. Your relationship with Soonyoung happened out of nowhere. When you were trying desperately to heal over the worst heartbreak you could imagine and he happened to be there. Maybe thatâs why you feel this inexplicable draw to him, even now. Because he was the one to help you put the pieces back together, the one to let you know that you werenât asking for something unreasonable from your ex, that it was okay to make whatever type of life you wanted for yourself. Over time, you felt yourself getting more attached and let it happen, even knowing it was the wrong choice. Not because Soonyoung is wrong or anything short of great. Itâs just, well, heâs always been honest, sometimes painfully so, about exactly who he is and what he wants. Heâs just not sure, at least right now, that a closed relationship where he meets the parents is what he wants.Â
An open relationship hadnât been something you considered. It still wasnât a consideration when you first started sleeping with Soonyoung. It wasnât until you realized you wanted more of him that you had to have the conversation. Which is how youâre here, now. Going to see your parents and the rest of your family for a beautiful vacation alone despite being in a relationship. Despite him having met some of your family, like your cousins, and the number of dates you go on. Sometimes it really is enough. Not because youâre telling yourself it is. It just is. He comes up with the most thoughtful dates. Surprises you with little things just because. Heâs so insanely thoughtful. So, maybe itâs enough that he doesnât want to come meet your parents.
âCome here,â he requests, opening his arms for you.Â
You sigh before giving in and snuggling into him on the bed. He plants a soft kiss on the top of your head first, then your temple. You settle against his chest, timing your own breathing with the rise and fall of his chest. Thereâs something so comforting about lying like this. Something that makes it easier to be honest when youâre not looking into his incredibly soft eyes.
âI do get it, Soonie,â you repeat softly. âThis makes sense for us and I donât want that to change. I donât need my parents getting involved.â
âMaybe next year,â he says and that pulls you up short. Heâs never said that before. You canât really help it, you pull away to look into his eyes. âI like being around you and neither of us has been seeing many other people lately. So maybe itâs something we can talk about in the new year.âÂ
âI donât want it to be anything that you feelâŚâ you start and he presses a kiss to your lips.
âI donât,â he assures you. âAnd youâre still free to do whatever you want, obviously. I donât even know what it might look like. Just, I donât know, I figure maybe after the holidays we can figure out if anything changes here.âÂ
âYeah, Iâd like that,â you agree.Â
âBut for todayâŚâ he says, drifting off as his eyes roam over your body.
âYouâre exhausting,â you complain.
âYou tried on Christmas dresses in front of me! Iâve been here suffering thinking that I wonât get to slide that material off your soft skin,â he says and kisses your shoulder. âSitting here neglected as I watched you pack away skirts and those pants that make your ass look amazing.âÂ
âYouâre not neglected,â you tease as he presses a long kiss to your neck.Â
âIâm wasting away from the lack of attention,â he whines.
âHm, is that right?â you ask.Â
âIt is,â he concludes.Â
âWell, we canât have that,â you say low, running your hand down his stomach.Â
âDonât you have to leave soon?â he asks, stuttering when your hand runs over his cock through his pants. You rub him ever so gently, delighting in the way he reacts.
âI can stop if you want,â you suggest.Â
âYou know I donât want you to, butâŚâ he starts and trails off when you move your hand towards his waistband.
âIâm driving, Soon, I can be a little late. Iâll just blame traffic,â you say.
âFuck it,â he curses.Â
You drag his pants and briefs down in one motion, freeing his cock. You remember the first time you fucked him, when he was nervous that you were going to be somehow disappointed. He couldnât have been more wrong. Not only is he the perfect size, but he has a way of moving his hips while fucking you thatâs always drives you crazy.
There isnât time for you to be walking down memory lane, though. You spit into your hand so that you can start stroking him, delight in how heâs already a little hard. Maybe he wasnât lying about the torture of watching you try on clothes. After all, you did catch him adjusting on the bed a time or two. Itâs not enough for you, just stroking him and listening to all the beautiful sounds that he makes. Before he even realizes whatâs happening, youâre taking him into your mouth. Swirling your tongue around the tip and carefully massaging his balls with your free hand. You hollow your cheeks when you take as much of him into your mouth as you can. Carefully sucking while you bob your head on his cock, running a hand up and down the base as you continue to work on him.Â
âFuck, that mouth is so good,â he whines. âOh my god! Ugh, yes!âÂ
One of the things you like about Soonyoung is times like this, where he doesnât need to be in control. Where he just lets you take care of him. Lets you make him feel good. Just completely turns to putty in your hands. Heâs muttering obscenities about how much he loves your mouth, how you know just what to do, how youâre cruel for bringing him to the edge and then backing off. You may not have enough time, but you also canât really stop yourself.Â
âYouâre gonna make me come if you keep that up,â Soonyoung warns.Â
You pull up off him just for a second to fix him with a look. âKinda the point, isnât it?âÂ
âNot if it means I donât get to fuck you,â he answers and pulls off his shirt.Â
Okay, you can take the hint. You quickly strip off all your clothes and move up to lie on your side facing him. He captures your lips in a kiss and quickly puts a hand between your legs. No time to waste. He runs his fingers along your entrance, collecting the wetness there and groaning, probably at how youâre wet just from blowing him. When he slides a finger inside your cunt, you want to pull away from the kiss. Instead, you just moan into his mouth, spurring him to pump his finger into you faster. Another moan and he presses a second finger in.Â
When you first started fucking Soonyoung, you were a little embarrased about several things when it came to sex. One had been how wet you get. He had been so quick with the praise, so quick to assure you that it was a good thing, so quick to make you comfortable. Now, you barely even think about it. Everything with him is effortless, comfortable. Itâs entirely too fast when you feel like youâre already starting to come undone.Â
âGod, I love watching that pussy suck my fingers in,â he says. âSo good for me, so greedy.â
âFuck, Soon, hang on,â you pant out.
âFeeling good?â he asks.
âYeah but youâre gonna make me come,â you whine.Â
âIsnât that the point?â he parrots back.
âThought you wanted to fuck me,â you remind him.
He removes his fingers from your cunt entirely too quickly so he can roll over to reach the drawer. With surprising speed, he pulls a condom out and has it on in a matter of seconds. Youâre about to ask how he wants you when he rolls back over and hikes one of your legs up. This is a new position for the two of you, surprising with how many youâve tried. Thereâs something a little intimate, facing each other like this with your leg up over his arm. His brows furrow a little as he lines himself up.Â
âOh god,â you moan out when he presses all the way in, right off the bat. Even with the prepping, itâs more of a stretch than you were expecting so fast.
âYou okay?â he asks. Even though he wants it to be fast, heâs still so considerate.
âYes, just fucking move, please,â you whine.
âSo needy,â he says, but he still moves.Â
Itâs fast and a little desperate and the angle has him hitting you just where you want him. It doesnât feel awkward in this position, either, which crossed your mind for a second. Youâre clinging to any part of him that you can, moaning incoherently, about to come undone in a stupidly short time. But, heâs babbling too, uttering praises for how good he feels, reminding you how amazing you are. Heâs so vocal and itâs what sends you over the edge. He follows right behind you.
You lay on your back and take a few moments to catch your breath. Watch him as he gets up to dispose of the condom. Smile when he comes back and presses a gentle kiss to your forehead. Heâs so pretty like this, glowing and smiley and perfectly content. So are you, apparently, as he tells you constantly.
âYou have to go because I have to shower and I donât want to have to shower again after that,â you say when you get up.
âBut, what if I want round two?â he asks, drawing you in against his body.Â
You lean your head to press a kiss to his lips and carefully pull away. âThen, youâll just have to wait til Iâm back.â
âThought you didnât mind being late,â he presses.
âA little late,â you say and laugh at the pout. âYouâre cute, Soonie, but I still have to go.â
âFine,â he sighs. âYouâll be back before New Yearâs?â
âYeah, for the party,â you confirm.Â
âIâll miss you,â he whispers into your hair. The kiss he presses to the top of your head nearly has your knees weak. Instead, you just smile as he leaves and rush off to the shower before you get in the car.Â
The resort your parents picked this year for the holidays is beautiful. Thereâs a main resort and also a bunch of smaller buildings with rooms that are more like condos. Your parents are staying in a particularly roomy one, because they love to host, so you donât feel too stuck by staying with them. Itâs also nice because the resort is attached to a ski lodge. You can actually ski straight from the rooms onto one of the trails. Itâs all beautiful and you feel incredibly at peace.Â
(You also appreciate how there are plenty of things to do for people that donât like to ski or snowboard. Not that you donât, youâre just sometimes a little worried youâll fall.)
The first night was just for relaxing after the ride up. The four hour drive ended up going a lot faster with your cousin in the passenger seat, thankful you hadnât actually left yet because her car broke down. Even though you donât live far apart, you feel like you donât see her nearly often enough. So the car ride is a nice way to catch up.Â
Now that itâs the first full day, youâre ready to explore a little bit. Your parents mentioned a little cafe in the lodge that sounds like the perfect place to get a cup of coffee. Of course, you could make it in the room, but it probably wouldnât taste as good. Bundled up, you head down to the lodge and look out for the cafe. It ends up being pretty easy to find. And itâs not the only thing.Â
Itâs like a pull that you canât explain, the way your eyes fall on someone sitting in an armchair just to the side of the cafe. His dark hair has that slightly tousled look, probably from being outside, and his glasses keep sliding down his nose. As you watch, he absently pushes them back up, eyes glued on the book in his lap. There is no world where it makes sense that heâs here and also no world where he could be anyone else. Youâre debating whether or not to approach him when he looks up. The smile he sends your way has you feeling things that you know you shouldnât.Â
Your feet carry you towards him without permission and he rises to meet you part way. âHey, what are youâŚâÂ
At the same time, he starts to say, âwow, small world.â
Itâs a little awkward (read: a lot) and neither of you really know what to say. Itâs been two years since you last saw each other, two years since you last spoke, two years since the break up that nearly tore you apart. Even though itâs been long enough that you feel better about it, itâs still awkward. He probably feels it too, the uncertainty of running into each other someplace so unexpected. The question of how to move forward.Â
âSo, um, this isâŚâ Wonwoo starts.
âAwkward? Weird? Unexpected?â you offer through a forced laugh.
âWhat are you doing here?â he asks.
âMy family is here for Christmas,â you answer. âYours too?âÂ
âYeah,â he says.Â
âRight,â you say. âWell, I was just going to getâŚâ
âCan we talk? Maybe over lunch or something?â he asks just as youâre ready to turn around.Â
Youâre rooted to the spot, unable to answer him right away. Can you? Yes, you definitely have that capability. Should you? Thatâs a bit harder to answer. Your brain is full of images of your past relationship - the good, the bad, the ugly - and your current situation. Maybe Wonwoo still does know you, at least well enough to read your face, because he speaks up again.
âNever mind, that was silly to ask,â he says.
âNo, it wasnât. Iâm sorry. Iâm just, I donât know, a little overwhelmed, I guess,â you admit.
âMe too, if it helps,â he says.Â
You look down at your watch. Itâs a little earlier than you usually eat lunch, but maybe thatâll be a good thing. âDo you wanna get something now?â
âWhat about your coffee?â Wonwoo asks.
âIâm sure the restaurant has some,â you say before you lose the courage.Â
Lunch is actually surprisingly easy. Well, after you get some of the awkwardness out of the way. But, it gives you a chance to say a lot of things you both kept to yourselves. Back when you were dating Wonwoo, it got harder until it was too much. He was always soft spoken, always afraid to burden anyone else with his problems. Even when you reminded him thatâs what partners were for, he just kept most of it to himself. Which wasnât healthy for either of you. You wanted things out in the open so you could talk about them, he kept them to himself. Something tiny could fester into something much bigger and then become a real issue. Even when it came to issues at work or with other friends, he was hesitant to mention it. By not wanting to be a burden, he ended up driving a massive wedge between you. And heâs able to share things with you, too. Like how it wasnât always easy to want to share when he felt pressured. He knows you only cared, but sometimes he wasnât ready. Sometimes he couldnât talk about it in the moment and just needed a day to process. Something he knows that he should have shared with you, as well.Â
It turns into a much longer meal than either of you expect. After talking about your relationship, you fill in the last two years. He talks about work and friends and reluctantly admits that he hasnât dated anyone seriously since you. When itâs your turn, you stumble over explaining Soonyoung, ending up opting for full transparency. If heâs surprised, he hides it well. Seems to understand that trying something a little different can be exactly what you need. When you finally check your phone to see youâre running late to meet your cousins, you say goodbye with a promise to hang out again. And an assurance that you havenât changed your number and he isnât blocked.Â
You spend most of the afternoon playing games with your cousins and sharing what youâve been up to. The cousin that rode with you, and knows Wonwoo the best, is nearly on the floor when you tell her that heâs here somehow. Especially because she also knows Soonyoung and likes him, but thinks heâs not the long term plan for you. Sheâs a little surprised, given how much you smiled about seeing Wonwoo, at how fiercely you defend Soonyoung. Itâs just, well, heâs been a lot for you in so many ways. Yes, some of it has been painful and some of it has involved learning things youâre not sure you needed to. But, itâs also been safe and protected. Itâs allowed you to grow in ways you never expected.Â
An afternoon of gaming turns into a night of dinner in the suite, more games, and drinking. Your cousin takes your phone and texts Wonwoo from it. Invites him over to the room to pick you up. Of course, she doesnât tell you any of that. But, when you answer the door and see your ex on the other side, he suggests you check your phone. You shoot your cousin a look and grab your coat. Heâs here, so you might as well go with him. When he holds out his hand for you, you take it and follow him into the night.Â
The next days pass in a kind of haze. Itâs so pretty to be at the resort, watching the way snow seems to fall more often than not, even if itâs just a light flurry for 20 minutes. Thereâs a beautiful, tucked away corner of the lodge where you can sit in rocking chairs by floor to ceiling windows. It gives you a perfect vantage point to watch the snow, or watch people coming down trails, watch anything. Youâre with Wonwoo more than your own family, a fact that nobody seems to talk about. Maybe because everyone liked Wonwoo and nobody really understood why it ended. You hadnât wanted to talk about it. And now it doesnât seem to matter. The man before you isnât the same boy that you walked away from two years ago. Youâre not the same either. Both of you get a lot of time nestled away in the cocoon of the holiday vacation to talk about that. To talk about who you are now and where you want to be. About if things would turn out differently now.
Itâs all kind of a practiced dance, though, because Wonwoo knows that Soonyoung exists. He knows that thereâs someone youâre not really ready to let go that may be waiting for you to get back to have an important conversation. (He is waiting for you, but you donât tell Wonwoo that. Because it may not be in the way you wish he was waiting for you. What you do know is that heâs been sending you a lot of messages. There are a lot of things that seem to remind him of you. So, heâs constantly on your mind.) And there are some things that havenât changed about Wonwoo, too. One of those things is that he doesnât really find the idea of sharing a partner appealing. Even though heâs one of the most secure people you know, you can also tell what he thinks about the complication of your current situation. Thereâs no judgment, only more hurdles. Itâs like he wants you to consider giving him another shot, but he doesnât really know where to start.Â
Since Christmas Eve and Christmas morning are for family, you get a much needed break from having Wonwoo around constantly. Not that you mind, itâs just that your head needs a little space. You need to figure out what exactly you want. Which isnât really any easier when youâre separated from your ex, sadly. Both he and Soonyoung are still fighting for space. Your thoughts are kind of a jumbled mess.Â
(It doesnât help that Soonyoung calls you on Christmas Eve. Or that the call turns into FaceTime and that turns into the two of you getting off. Phone sex wasnât ever really something you were into before him. You didnât really get the appeal of it. But, youâve seen the positives of it with him. Still canât really believe how easy it is for him to push you over the edge when heâs not even with you. And you kind of like knowing you do the same to him, seeing his cum paint his stomach after he finishes. He gets a little sappy after he comes, too. When youâre both cleaned up, heâs still there. Telling you that he misses you and that the city feels a little lonely without you there. Itâs not like you havenât left before, but this just feels different to him. He says it all without seeming to think much about it and youâre not really sure how to take it. Is it honest? Or is it the post orgasm haze?)Â
But, after Christmas dinner, youâre on your own to do whatever you want. And you know what you donât need to do. You know that you donât need to make this whole mess inside your head more complicated than it already is. You do really miss Soonyoung and all his energy. Thereâs something infectious about him. But, you also know that heâs been very clear on his wants and needs, even if he says you need to talk when youâre back about whatâs going on. Then, thereâs all your returning feelings for Wonwoo after all the time youâve spent with him the past several days. Soonyoung seemed to skate over you mentioning running into your ex like it didnât matter. Or that he trusts you and that the relationship is open, which is the more likely answer. All of that leads to sitting on the couch of Wonwooâs suite, sipping a glass of wine.Â
âWhatâs going on here?â you ask, interrupting the formerly comfortable silence.Â
âWeâre drinking wine on Christmas?â Wonwoo suggests.
You turn your head to look at him and find heâs a little confused. âI donât mean that. I mean,â you gesture between the two of you, âhere.âÂ
âAh,â Wonwoo says and takes a sip.Â
âYeah,â you say.
âI donât know, honestly. I know I missed you and that I feel like things are different now. I think we could have actually worked through our issues if we were these people,â Wonwoo says.
âBut?â you prompt. Because thereâs so clearly a but coming to what he said.
âYouâre in a relationship,â he finishes.Â
âAn open one,â you remind him.
âThat youâre not really sure how to define,â he presses back.
âWe arenât even sure if weâd work together again and youâre already worried about whatâs going on with Soonyoung,â you sigh.Â
âWhat do you mean?â he asks.
âWeâve got history and itâs been so nice to be around you. But, if we were to try something out again, weâre not just going to jump back into it being serious right away,â you tell him.
âNo, I wouldnât expect it to,â Wonwoo agrees.Â
âSo does it really matter if Iâm seeing someone else? Does anyone outside of us really matter while weâre figuring things out?â you ask.
This is a definite crossroads for Wonwoo. Heâs always been very logical and impossibly smart. In all the time you knew him, he was one to weigh things out and go with what made the most sense. It wasnât like him to be overly emotional about things. Except, apparently, when it came to you. So, this is a big ask. For him to just set aside personal feelings for you and consider the logic behind what youâre saying. Itâs a crossroads for you, too. Because you do know it makes sense to consider exploring whateverâs been happening between the two of you. To not have any what-ifs or questions when you go back to the city. To actually explore another genuine connection so you can better understand what you do or donât feel for Soonyoung.
Wonwoo sighs and nods. âYeah, youâre right. Focusing on this and figuring it out doesnât involve anyone else but us.â
âSo that last little line of defense stops now?â you ask, hopeful.
âLast line of defense?â he asks.Â
You gesture at the space between you. âEver since I ran into you, thereâs always space for the Holy Spirit between us.âÂ
Both of you laugh at that when Wonwooâs face cracks into a smile. It erases the last little bit of tension left between the two of you. Itâs clear that he means heâs going to give it a real shot to figure out whatâs going on without worrying about anyone else. Wonwoo shifts closer to you, rests his arm on the back of the couch behind you, and presses his thigh into yours.Â
âDo you still think thereâs space for the Holy Spirit?â he asks.Â
âNo,â you say with a light laugh.Â
âIâve missed you, doll,â he admits and presses a kiss against your temple.Â
âIâve missed you, too,â you say. You turn your body so your back is against the arm of the couch and drape your legs over his lap. Itâs a little more comfortable and it lets you look at him easier.Â
âItâs so weird to me, running into you here,â he says and you laugh.
âIâd say itâs some kind of fate, but I know you donât believe in that kinda shit,â you offer.
âI donât know that I do, but having you around has given me a break from my family,â he shares.Â
âYour family is great,â you disagree.Â
âThey are, but itâs a lot of people time,â he says with a sigh.
Which is why you suggest that you just sit back and watch a movie, something a little scary because you know thatâs what he prefers. It doesnât have to be some Christmas movie, youâve gotten enough of that with your cousins in the lead up to the holiday. So, you let him pick something and settle back, appreciating the closeness.Â
The movie is good, but youâre kind of a fidgeter. You make it through the first half easily, but in the second half, you start getting a little sick of sitting still. Just little things. Adjusting how youâre sitting. Moving your legs slightly. Reaching out for one of Wonwooâs hands. Something to trick your body into thinking itâs moving. Until itâs a little more than just a movement. Without even thinking, you pull one of your legs towards you, let your knee bend for a second, because itâs a little stiff, and slide it back. It isnât until Wonwoo sucks in a breath and clenches his jaw that you realize your foot slid right over his dick.Â
âWonwoo, Iâm sorry, I didnât - â you start, but heâs moving your legs.
âLetâs go,â he says as he stands up.
âWhat?â you ask. âGo where?âÂ
âCome on, sweetheart, Iâm not gonna play these fucking games,â he says and pulls you up off the couch.Â
Youâre really caught off guard, because it had been an accident, but your body remembers this. Heâs guiding you in front of him to one of the bedrooms and pressing you inside. As soon as youâre both through, he closes and locks the door. Then, he presses you back into it and kisses you hard. Crowds your space so you canât move an inch. You gasp when he nips at your lip. This has always been the thing about Wonwoo. Heâs so quiet and soft spoken and unassuming around everyone else. Just the smart boy who likes to read and play video games. Until he gets you behind closed doors and a switch flips.Â
âFuck, Nu, I swear it was an accident,â you groan as he kisses down your neck.
âSo, you donât wanna get fucked into the mattress? Donât want me to show you I still know exactly what you like?â he asks.
Youâre not the same person you were two years ago, though. âMaybe I like different things now.âÂ
âWeâll see about that,â he says.Â
Before you can respond, heâs kissing you again. Hard and needy and like there isnât a tomorrow. Maybe there isnât for the two of you. Itâs not like youâve managed to clear anything up.Â
Wonwoo presses his hips into you. Places his hands on either side of your head against the door behind you. Itâs so easy to fall into old patterns with him, where you give up your control. Your hands run along his back, underneath his shirt, and he shivers at the touch. It makes him thrust his hips into you again. It makes him grab your hands and pin them in one of his above your head. His lips are demanding when they return to yours, like heâs taking what you owe him.Â
Thereâs no point in begging for more. It would only make him go slower. So, you accept his tongue into your mouth when he keeps kissing you. You let your hands stay pinned above your head. You even chase his lips when he pulls away. Itâs hard to suppress the shudder when his lips brush against your ear.Â
âI want to fuck you,â he whispers. âI want to press your pretty face into the mattress and get your ass in the air. Do you want that?â
âYes,â you whimper out.Â
Wonwoo pulls away from you and starts to undress. Itâs hard to take your eyes off of him because heâs so beautiful. The broadness of his shoulder and his slender waist. The muscles that he hides behind all the layers flex as he pulls off his shirt and steps out of his pants. But, then heâs looking at you expectantly. Likely wondering why youâre fully dressed. You make quick work of getting out of your clothing before turning back to him.Â
âSit on the edge of the bed, babydoll,â he instructs. You hasten to listen to what he asks and he smiles. Not a soft smile. âOpen your legs.âÂ
You do that as well. With your hands on the bed behind you, you lean backwards. Wonwoo kneels down between your legs and runs a hand up your calf. He nips softly at your thighs, sharp enough to make you gasp but not hard enough to leave a mark. As he moves to your other thigh, he spreads your legs further. Only places a light kiss on your other thigh before his hand returns to your pussy. His fingers spread you open and he blows gently. The sensation makes you shiver. It makes you want to beg for him. Instead, you just grip the sheets tighter. Wonwoo chuckles, probably at your attempt to hold back, and licks a stripe up your center. Flattens his tongue against you and runs it slowly through your folds.Â
âOh god,â you moan. You donât need to look down to see that it makes Wonwoo smile, but you do anyway.
He continues to work you with his tongue, alternating the pace so that you never really know what to expect. His thumb rubs circles over your clit. Maybe he does still know how to get you going. Or maybe your body just remembers him. Either way, he feels so good. Youâre entirely more pent up than you feel like you should be. It would be embarrassing if it was with someone you werenât comfortable with.Â
âFuck, please, baby, I need your fingers,â you beg.Â
âYou getting close?â he asks.
âYes, fuck, please,â you cry out.
âDo you think you deserve to come?â he asks. Itâs only his thumb on your clit that keeps you going.
âPlease,â you beg and hope itâs enough.
It must work because his tongue returns to your cunt and he slides one of his perfect fingers inside as well. The second is in before you realize it and your moans are more sounds than anything intelligible. Itâs an unsurprisingly short time before you make a mess of his face and fingers. After he guides you through your orgasm, he stands up and leans over you. Pulls you in for a kiss so that you can taste yourself on his lips. Itâs enough to make you a little dizzy. Entirely too soon, heâs breaking the kiss. He runs his hand over his dick and looks at you.
âSpit in your hand,â he directs and you do it without thinking. The post-orgasm haze still has hold of you.Â
You donât need him to tell you what to do next. Before he can say anything, you take over and run your hand down his shaft. Slide your thumb carefully over his tip. Wonwoo clenches his jaw like heâs trying not to let you know just how good it feels. Because you still know him too. You continue to stroke him and take his cock into your mouth. Just the tip, at first. When you look up at him under your lashes, you know that heâs going to lose the battle.Â
âFuck, babydoll, that mouth is better than I remember,â he groans out. His hands wind into your hair, but he doesnât fuck into your face. Youâre a little surprised he can hold back. Especially when you swirl your tongue around his tip. âOkay enough of this.â
Wonwoo, with surprising gentleness, pulls you off of his dick. You have just enough time to look at him triumphantly before heâs moving you back into the bed. He gets you on your hands and knees, presses your back down so that your ass is in the air and your face presses into the pillow in front of you. You arch your back deeper so that he has the best angle. The bed shifts under you and you assume that heâs lining up behind you. He presses a finger into your pussy again and you squirm for a second. When he removes it, you want to complain. But, heâs quick to line himself up and press his cock into you. The pillow muffles your moan as he presses all the way in. His hands find purchase on your hips as he sets a slow rhythm.Â
It doesnât seem like itâs enough, though. His hand finds itâs way into your hair and he pulls back, more gently than he used to. âIs this still okay?âÂ
His voice is hoarse in your ear. âFuck, Nu, yes. Be rough with me.âÂ
Itâs all the permission he needs. His hand slides up your body to take your nipple between too skilled fingers. The first twist has you screaming out for him, wanting him to continue. And he does, all while picking up the pace that he fucks into you. He keeps you pressed against his chest. The snap of his hips and the skin slapping together isnât enough to cover your stream of profanities. Wonwoo places a hand lightly over your throat, using it to anchor you to him. Your loud moan and reassurance of permission makes him squeeze a little tighter. Itâs that perfect sensory deprivation to make it all the more intense. Between that and your earlier orgasm, youâre a bit on overload. Itâs a kind of mind blankness that you havenât felt in awhile. Nothing else exists but the pursuit of pleasure. Your mind is totally empty.
Eventually, his movements start to stutter and he releases your throat. Directs you to rub your clit. You hardly need to touch yourself before you feel your second orgasm rip through you, coming all over his dick. He snaps a few more times before pulling out of you. His cum paints over your ass and your back. Wonwoo collapses next to you and you lower yourself down onto your stomach, trying not to make too much of a mess.Â
After a moment, Wonwoo presses a kiss to your shoulder. âWhat do you, babydoll, do I still know you?âÂ
âItâs like nothing ever changes,â you admit.Â
The two days after Christmas seem to pass just as quickly as the days before Christmas. Something feels like itâs shifted with you and Wonwoo, but maybe not in the way you expect. Youâre still spending a decent amount of time with him, still being pretty affectionate, but you donât end up naked in his bed again. It could just be you, though it feels like a joint decision. It feels like itâs some unspoken agreement.Â
Everything with Wonwoo has been amazing, like a little break from reality. Itâs been so nice to get to see him again, to get to talk about your relationship and everything it meant. Even though youâve both changed a lot, itâs nice to realize how well he still knows you. And he seems to accept all the ways youâve changed in stride, which surprises you a little. Change had never been his favorite thing. Thereâs also just a general sense of nostalgia to your interactions with him. Heâs safe in the way someone says that you can always go home. It feels like falling into old patterns.Â
But, thatâs not what life is supposed to be, is it? Life is about taking chances and risks and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Falling back into step with Wonwoo would be so easy. Itâs obvious that he still loves you, or maybe loves you again. Itâs so easy to picture what your life with him looks like because you remember. You remember all the plans the two of you made. It just feels kind of stagnant, though. You know the kind of love youâre getting back into. Itâs not even about not trusting him or worrying it would end up in another break-up. Things are different enough with your communication that you trust it would be different on that front.
Itâs just, if youâre being honest with yourself, you canât get Soonyoung off your mind. Even when youâve been with Wonwoo, thereâs that small voice in the back of your mind whispering Soonyoungâs name. Itâs also really hard to stop thinking about what he said before you left. Maybe it doesnât mean anything changes. Maybe it only means that you define the relationship a little more clearly and itâs still open. But, if you move forward with Wonwoo, you know what that means for Soonyoung. You know it means youâre going to be saying goodbye to the person whoâs challenged you, whoâs pushed you, whoâs forced you out of your comfort zone. Youâre just not sure you can do that.
By the time the last night comes around, you know that you need to have an actual conversation with Wonwoo before leaving. Life doesnât always give you the chance for closure, so you know to take it when it comes around.
âThis is it for us, isnât it?â Wonwoo asks.Â
âYeah, I think it is,â you say.Â
âI hope he knows what heâs got,â Wonwoo says with a sigh. âBy the time I figured it out, it was too late.âÂ
âI hope you know that everything I felt for you was so real, that itâs still real now. Itâs justâŚâ you start.
âNot enough?â he finishes and you frown. âItâs okay, Iâm not upset. I knew from the start that this was a long shot.âÂ
âWhy did you do it, then?â you ask.
âBecause I would have regretted it if I left something unsaid or undone,â he says simply.
âIâm so sorry, Wonwoo,â you say.
âIâm not. Iâm thankful we got this chance. Now, I have the closure I needed to actually move on,â he says.Â
Youâre not sure what else to do, so you just wrap your arms around him. His arms wrap around you without missing a beat and he places a kiss on the top of your head. The two of you stand like that for a few minutes, letting all the feelings wash over you. Itâs the next part thatâs going to be the scariest.
You havenât properly talked to Soonyoung since the two of you had phone sex on Christmas Eve. Which is actually on you, at least this time, because heâs been keeping up a relatively steady stream of texts. Asking how the vacation was, how it was to be around your family, even how it was to see your ex. And you havenât done anything wrong, you know you havenât, but it still feels like too much to text. It feels like the kind of thing you need to tell him when youâre back in your apartment. Thankfully, you donât even have to ask if he wants to come by. He knows your schedule, knows how long the drive is, and even assumes youâre tired. Despite that, he asks if heâs okay to come over anyway. He even insists that he just wants to see you, sex can be off the table. (Unless you want to fuck on the kitchen table, because that might be hot, he says.)
Heâs at your door in what feels like record time, puffy jacket and beanie covering most of his head and upper body. His arms wrap around you before he even gets through the door or takes off his layers. It feels like he smells your hair when he buries his face there, but you canât be sure. Itâs almost a project to get him to unlatch himself long enough to take off his outer layers and remove his shoes before joining you on the couch. Where he clings to you like the idea of personal space is foreign. Itâs more comforting than youâd like to admit. Youâre at ease, but your heart is also beating entirely too fast.
âI missed you,â he says softly.
âI missed you, too,â you say back.Â
âNo, I really missed you. My sister kept asking me the whole time I was there if I was okay,â he admits. He separates a little, but keeps hold of one of your hands.Â
Youâre not really used to this side of him, havenât seen him this soft in all the time youâve known him. âWere you not? You seemed okay in your messages.âÂ
âI -,â he starts, frowns, and then opens his mouth again. âI was okay, when we were texting. Mostly. But, I guess, Iâm just used to you being around. Iâm used to sending you something, like something that makes me think of you, and having you answer right away.âÂ
âYou were sending a lot,â you tease lightly.
âI kept wondering,â he starts and shakes his head.
âWondering what, Soon?â you ask.Â
âDo you remember before you left that I said I wanted to talk after the holidays?â he asks and you nod.Â
âOf course, I thought about it a lot,â you admit.
âYou did?â The surprise is evident on his face and youâre not sure what it means.
âYeah, there were a lot of times I couldnât really get it off my mind, honestly,â you share.Â
âI figuredâŚwell with your ex there and you spending so much time with him,â Soonyoung says.
Your stomach drops a little. âListen, about thatâŚâ
âYou donât have to tell me,â he says, trying to cut you off. Itâs your turn to grab his hands, though.
âI do, though. Which is selfish, probably, but I need to tell you for me,â you say.
âYouâre getting back together with him,â Soonyoung guesses and his whole body seems to slump. Youâre not sure what to make of him caring so much and donât really want to get your own hopes up.
âNo,â you assure him. âNo, I think that chapter of my life is over. Seeing him just brought up a lot of unfinished shit. And then with the holidays and the resort. I didâŚwell, we did have sex. Just once, on Christmas.â
Soonyoung nods, but doesnât seem relieved. âI figured you would, I did basically push you to try other things out. Are you going to see him again now that youâre back here?â
âNo,â you say again. âBut, I think I want to hear what you were going to say.âÂ
âIâm not sure now isâŚâ he starts and nearly melts at the look you give him.
âPlease,â you say so softly itâs barely audible.Â
âI shouldâve gone with you when you asked,â he says and that brings you up short. You never dared to hope for that much. âI knew it as soon as you were gone. But, I figured itâd be fine. Iâd be right where you left me when you got back. Then, you ran into your ex and you seemed happy for the chance. I thought Iâd fucked up and that youâd fall for him again. I considered just showing up. I chickened out, though. I figured if it was supposed to work out, then it would. Part of me even hoped you might fuck him and that youâd realize what it took me just a little too long to realize.â
âAnd whatâs that?â you prompt.
âThat Iâm ready to give actual commitment a try. That I donât want to think about sharing you with anyone else,â he says and his voice drops to a whisper. âThat I love you.âÂ
âWhat did you just say?â you ask.Â
He takes a deep breath and meets your eyes. âThat I love you. And Iâm sorry.âÂ
You donât even realize youâre crying until he wipes a tear from your cheek. âI love you, too, you giant idiot. Itâs always been you for me. It wasnât ever going to be my ex. Iâm not sorry, though. Everything that weâve experienced, itâs been exactly what I needed.âÂ
âYou know what this means though, right?â he asks and you shake your head. âNo more fucking anyone thatâs not me.âÂ
âWe donât have toâŚâ you start. You donât want to change him, never have. Heâs always been perfect exactly the way he is.Â
âI know, but I want to. Itâs only you. I think it always has been and you just knew it a lot before I did,â he says.
âCan you just kiss me now?â you ask through your tears.Â
When your lips meet, itâs so slow and tender. So full of affection and joy and everything left unsaid. For now, at least. If thereâs anything you know about Soonyoung, itâs that he doesnât like to keep much to himself. Itâs been so much, so overwhelming. Even though the kisses are languid, you feel the heat building between the two of you. Feel the desire getting stronger. Thatâs when he breaks the kiss. Your face must look confused or disappointed because he smiles, so full of genuine affection, and stands up. He holds a hand out to you.
âI donât want the first time after telling you that I love you to be on your couch,â he says.Â
Your smile matches his when you take his hand and interlace your fingers. He brings your hands up to his lips and places a kiss on your knuckles. Doesnât let go of your hand even when youâre in your bedroom. He sits down on the edge of the bed and pulls you between his legs. It makes you lean down to kiss him, but itâs kind of nice. He finally lets go of your hand so that he can wrap his arms around you instead. When Soonyoung looks up at you, eyes full of affection, itâs just more than you can handle.Â
âPlease, Soonie,â you whisper.
âWhat?â he asks.
âDonât look at me like that,â you request.
âLike what?â he asks.
âLike Iâm the only person in the entire world,â you say.
He only smiles at first. âI had a lot of time to think when you were away. Iâm just appreciating you now.â
âIâm not going anywhere,â you assure him.
âI wouldnât let you.âÂ
Finally, he pulls you into bed and itâs the most perfect night youâve ever spent with him. And youâve had a lot of great nights. He always takes his time with you, always makes sure youâre well taken care of. Itâs different now. His lips are everywhere and his hands seem to need to find whatever part of you they can. Youâve never felt so loved and so safe, even with him. Even though he always makes it comfortable. You know that you made the right choice.
(Youâre sure when heâs got you seeing stars from his mouth between your legs. Youâre sure when heâs sucking marks into your skin where only he can see them. Youâre sure when he asks you to tie his hands to the bed. Youâre sure when he asks you to untie him so he can fuck you into the mattress. Youâre especially sure when he wraps himself around you to fall asleep. Itâs everything youâve wanted, but only because itâs him. It wouldnât be the same with anyone else.)
Morning comes and everything looks even better in the soft light of a winterâs morning. Youâre not sure youâre ever going to get Soonyoung out of your bed (or your apartment) and youâre not really sure you want to. The new year is right around the corner and you canât wait to see what it brings the both of you.
thanks for coming on this ride with me đ please reblog or let me know your thoughts if you liked it!

The holidays always went a little too fast for your liking. You didnât know when it Christmas had come, shown its colours, and left; it felt like yesterday that you were preparing for Halloween. And yet, the wispy bits of fluffy snow falling from the sky said that it had been long since that time. You could feel the frosty bits of snow crunching under your feet as you trudged out of the airport into the lanes of the town.Â
In the distance, you could see the festive hubbub that surrounded your town - with officials figuring out logistics for lights and trees, vendors setting up their markets and little kids toying about with the snow: everything was exactly the same as you remembered when you had last been here.Â
â10 years,â you whispered to yourself, a small smile forming on your lips. âHello again.âÂ
Your family had once called this town home, back when you and your siblings were young kids. Time had flown away like the little snow flakes did now, and forced you all to move away from your home to build a future of your own. Normally, you would have wanted to be with your friends and family to celebrate the holidays, but something oddly made you want to come back here.Â
Making sure you had your belongings, you asked around to figure out where your lodge was located, not recognising a lot of the shops that now decorated the streets. Your parents had recommended a lodge they had first stayed in when they came here, one out of two cabins owned by a family friend who had since shifted to New York. They let you rent out one for the holidays, and encouraged you to get acquainted with the stranger who would be renting the other cabin around the same time - âwouldnât hurt to make a new friend,â theyâd said.Â
A tap on your shoulder broke your reverie. âY/N?â A voice called behind you, making you turn to face the person in question. Dressed cosily in a green sweater that screamed the holiday spirit with vibrant red hearts and candy canes all over it, it was a man, snowflakes settling in his fluffed up brown hair. He was tall in a way that made you stretch your neck up to look at his big smile, and his eyes had a soft crinkle to them, as if you had just shared a funny anecdote.Â
âIâm Hoseok,â he mentioned, stretching out a hand. âI figured youâre the other person staying at the Woodsonâs cabin, arenât you?â
You accepted his hand, surprised at the warmth instantly engulfing your frosty fingers. âYeah, I am. How did you know it was me, though?âÂ
He grinned, tilting his head to look at your heavy bags - as if they were a clear indication. âNo one really travels alone with three big bags to this town unless theyâre planning a long vacation.âÂ
You smiled sheepishly. âYeah, I guess that kinda gave it away.â You could feel him staring at you as if trying to figure out what kind of a person his neighbour for the next few days was like.Â
Hoseok flashed a friendly smile. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Y/N. Iâve got my car here, so if you donât mind, we can get to the cabin together? Let me help you with those bags." He effortlessly grabbed two of your heavy bags, leaving you with just one.
âThank you,â you said, following after him and settling into the warmth of his car. Helping him load your luggage on the car, Hoseok immediately ran off inside the car, immediately cranking the heat on. You couldnât help but laugh as he gestured for you to come in quickly.Â
âNot a fan of the cold, I presume?â you asked.Â
âBrrrr,â he shivered, rubbing his palms together and blowing at them. âI love the aesthetics of cold weather, but absolutely hate the feeling of cold.â Starting the car, he slowly drove out of the parking lot, suddenly grinning to himself. âBy the way, Y/N? You havenât asked me for any proof of who I am,â he hesitated, looking over to you cautiously as if to detect any signs of panic.Â
You froze at his words, realising his perspective: you had just trusted an absolute stranger and gotten in the car. âShould I be worried, though?â You tried to play it off casually.Â
âI would suggest being worried, and not being relieved until you were sure I was the right person to approach you,â he said, lips pursed and hands tense on the steering wheel. âI could be really dangerous.â
For some reason, that stunned you, and yet, it made you burst out into laughter.Â
Hoseok looked at you confused. âWhat?âÂ
Gasping for breath, you could barely stop your laughter enough to calm Hoseokâs concerned face. âMrs. Woodson is a family friend, Hoseok. Sheâd already told me about you, and how youâve been here for a few weeks at the cabin. I did recognise you a few seconds after you spoke to me.â You grinned. âIt would have been concerning if I did blindly trust you and get in the car, though.â
Hseok dramatically breathed out, as if a huge tension had been lifted off of his chest. âWell, at least you knew who I was. Imagine if you didnât know anyone or anything in this town and got all lost? I would feel terrible.â
You settled into your seat, humming in agreement with him. âI do know this town well enough, though. I have lived here for long enough to know these streets, even if theyâre more colourful now than then.âÂ
Hoseok smiled. âAhh, so you lived here too.â
You turned to him in surprise. âYou, too?â
He nodded. âI lived here for some years when I was younger. I donât have very strong memories of this place here - I moved away with my dad after my parents divorced, you see - and came here only sometimes to visit my mom while she still lived here. And when all my family moved from here, I didnât really have a reason to come back here as much.â He smiled softly. âBut then, I just felt like I wanted to be here this year, alone, yes, but in a place I first started enjoying the holidays.âÂ
You hummed in agreement, understanding the sentiment.
He pointed to the houses you were crossing outside, all cheerfully decorated in lights and decor. âI used to rank the houses by their decor every year, and then go to the house I ranked first to tell them that they won,â he said, making you both laugh. âI wonder if the owners are still the same people.âÂ
âI would hope so, too,â you said. ââMy family and I had loads of friends we lost touch with. It would be nice to meet some of them.âÂ
The road to the cabin was a long one, you knew, and yet, you werenât as bothered about travelling a long distance as you thought you would be. Hoseokâs company and your childhood nostalgia got the best of you, keeping the conversation in good spirits as you made your way to the cabin.
As you climbed the steps up to the Woodson's cabin, Hoseok spoke up, "By the way, if you ever need anything or have any trouble, feel free to knock on my door. We're practically neighbours for the next few days." He knocked at his door jokingly, before showing you into your cabin.
You nodded in gratitude, feeling a sense of warmth in both the gesture and the offer.
The Woodson's cabin was a rustic haven nestled amidst a picturesque snowy landscape. Its exterior, adorned with a glistening layer of snow, exuded a quaint charm that perfectly complemented the festive spirit of the holidays. A trail of footprints led to the wooden porch, where a wreath of pine cones and twinkling lights welcomed visitors.
Upon entering, the warm aroma of burning pine logs greeted you, emanating from a grand fireplace that stood as the heart of the cozy abode. The crackling flames cast dancing shadows on the log walls, revealing a collection of Wooderson family mementoes â framed photographs capturing moments of laughter, family gatherings, and snowy adventures. The memories were frozen in time, a testament to the cabin's rich history and the cherished moments shared by generations past.
The living area featured plush, oversized chairs and a well-worn sofa, adorned with festive throw blankets that beckoned you to sink in and relish the comfort. The windows, framed by heavy curtains, offered panoramic views of the snow-covered landscape, while the soft glow of fairy lights added a touch of enchantment.
In the corner of the cabin, a towering Christmas tree stood adorned with an array of ornaments, casting a festive hue that bathed the room in a warm and inviting light. A quaint dining table, draped with a red-and-green checkered tablecloth, held the remnants of a shared meal, as the remnants of peppermint hot cocoa lingered in the air.

A quaint dining table, draped with a red-and-green checkered tablecloth adorned the center of the cabin as the fragrance of toasted peppermint lingered in the air.
Hoseok bashfully scratched his head. âI may or may not have used your stove to make myself some Christmassy drinks.â
You grinned. âWas it something with peppermint?âÂ
âHow did you know?â Hoseok asked, nodding in agreement as he stacked the washed and dried mug back in the cabinet. âIâve always loved a good old mint flavoured drink, and âtis the season for peppermint, isnât it?â
Seeing your vigorous agreement, Hoseok offered to whip up a drink for you while you settled your belongings in the cabin.Â
âIâll start the fireplace,â Hoseok called after you, busying away in the hall while you made your way to the bedroom.Â
It felt like ages since you had sat by yourself, giving yourself time to do nothing.Â
After you had moved away from your hometown, your life had been consumed with racing against the clock. With all your hardwork, you had been successful in your education, your career, and you had a place that you called your own. And yet, there were barely moments where you got to enjoy the time you so rightfully deserved to give yourself. Running around to prove yourself had only made you deprive yourself of your own time, seldom finding it in your busy hubbub.Â
And now, as you overlooked the snow-laden mountains, with the town distantly coloured in a warm hue, you felt your shoulders melt into a more carefree, comfortable posture. You deserved this, you thought to yourself. It was more than worth it to come here, all alone, and enjoy one vacation in solidarity. You deserved the time all to yourself.Â
And plus, Hoseokâs here for company, you added, feeling more and more resolute in your decision to take a break from the festive season.Â
âThis tastes really good, and I say that as someone who barely drinks coffee,â you hummed, hands wrapping around the warm mug that Hoseok handed to you.
He occupied the other end of the sofa, matching mug in his hands, crossing his legs comfortably. âThatâs mainly because of the peppermint, Y/N. It adds a sense of uniqueness to the otherwise common coffee and elevates it.â You giggled at his narration as he indicated to his mug as if pitching a billion-dollar idea.Â
âI noticed you like peppermints a lot,â you said, sipping away at the drink. âI like them too, but it is rare to find a fellow lover.â
âOh, I love them!â Hoseok beamed eagerly. âPeppermint mochas are probably my favourite thing to make over the holidays. It is the only time of the year where it tastes just right and fits in, you know?âÂ
âMy family used to make peppermint-infused hot chocolate,â you grinned. âIt used to taste amazing.âÂ
As the crackling fire painted a warm ambience across the cabin, a subtle wave of nostalgia washed over you. The flickering flames seemed to dance in sync with the memories of holidays long gone, reminding you of the lively chaos that filled your childhood home during this time of year.Â
Hoseok, sensing a shift in your demeanour, looked at you with understanding eyes. "Something on your mind, Y/N?" he asked, the glow from the fireplace casting a gentle warmth on his features.
You hesitated for a moment before responding, "It's just that... well, I miss my family. The holidays were always about being together; this year, being here alone feels different. I mean, it's wonderful to be back in this town, but the absence of their laughter and the familiar holiday chaos is hard to ignore."
Hoseok nodded empathetically, a soft smile playing on his lips. "I get that. Family has a way of making this time of year special. Maybe we can bring a little bit of that magic here. What's something your family always did during the holidays?"
As you shared tales of your family's traditions, Hoseok listened attentively. You donât know when you two had started shifted closer, but soon enough, you and Hoseok were slapping each other on the arms while laughing away at old, embarrassing childhood stories.Â
âI canât believe you would do that!â you laughed, wiping a tear away from your eyes. Hoseok chuckled at your state.Â
âWell, its at least better than when my family paraded me as baby Jesus on Halloween - my neighbourâs kid actually thought I was him,â he added, making you laugh even more.Â
Outside, you could see the snow settling up higher and higher, and soon you and Hoseok decided to bid goodbye for the night. While walking him out, you chatted about more anecdotes from your time in this town - and you found yourself thinking, this vacation isnât off to a bad start at all.Â
Just before saying your goodbyes, Hoseok's eyes caught something above the door â a delicate mistletoe, adorned with tiny white berries, hung there as if placed by some unseen holiday fairy. A mischievous glint sparkled in Hoseok's eyes as he gently pointed upward.
"Well, look what we have here," he remarked with a playful grin, drawing your attention to the festive foliage above.
Your gaze followed his, and a soft gasp escaped your lips as you realized the implication. The air seemed to crackle with an unspoken tension, and a warm flush crept up your cheeks. Hoseok, with a charming smile, took a step closer, the glow of the cabin's lights framing his silhouette against the snowy backdrop.
"Tradition dictates that if two people find themselves beneath mistletoe, they share a kiss," Hoseok said, his voice low and filled with a playful warmth. âUnless they both donât consent, of course.âÂ
You hesitated, before responding. âIâm single, so - unless you donât want to -â
Before you could fully complete your words, Hoseok leaned in, closing the gap between you. Time seemed to slow as his lips met yours in a gentle, lingering kiss, capturing the essence of the winter night and the enchantment that hung in the air. The snowflakes continued their silent descent around you, adding a touch of whimsy to the unexpected yet welcomed moment.
As his lips parted from yours, you could feel the frosty snow take away his warmth, and you oddly wanted nothing more to pull him back and kiss him.Â
But he was already walking away, promising to see you the next day. âSee you tomorrow, beautiful."
The mistletoe kiss had cast a spell, and the days that followed became a tapestry woven with the threads of shared laughter and newfound connection. The town, now dressed in the shimmering aftermath of Christmas, beckoned the two of you to explore its post-celebration charm.
In the heart of the town, where the streets turned into a canvas painted with the hues of festive lights, you couldn't help but marvel at the lively holiday market. "It's like walking into a snow globe," you mused, the twinkling lights reflecting in her eyes.
Hoseok grinned, the glow of the lights accentuating the warmth in his eyes. "A magical snow globe where every shop is a treasure trove waiting to be discovered."
The vendors, like holiday artisans, showcased their creations with pride. Hoseok found himself drawn to a quaint bakery where the scent of peppermint-infused pastries lingered in the air. "I can almost taste the nostalgia in these," he remarked, savoring a bite of a holiday treat.
You chuckled, a melody that harmonized with the festive ambience. "Nostalgia is the secret ingredient that makes everything here taste like a piece of childhood."
As you both strolled through the town square, the ice-skating rink unfolded like a winter dreamscape. People of all ages took advantage of the icy wonderland, gliding and playing around on the ice. "Care to join me?" Hoseok extended his hand, the invitation echoing your kiss from a few nights ago.
You hesitated for a moment before taking his hand. âAs long as you donât make me fall,â you remarked, making him laugh.Â
Evenings were a journey through the luminous streets, where each step resonated with shared stories and whispered dreams. The glow of holiday lights reflected in his eyes as they approached midnight. Hoseok, holding Y/N close, whispered against the backdrop of fireworks, "Here's to new beginnings."
It was almost as if the post-Christmas festivities had turned the town into a living storybook, with Hoseok and you as its protagonists. The holiday magic lingered in the air, blending seamlessly with the enchanting connection that unfolded like the turning pages of a heartwarming tale.Â
A chilly onslaught broke the rather pleasant dream you were having. Groggily, you woke up, wrapping the blanket around you strongly to block out the sudden rush of iciness. The fireplace weakly flickered, and you could hear the howling winds outside as a storm built up.Â
Not knowing what to do, you decided your best option was probably to try to revive the fireplace and whip up something warm for yourself. You poked at the fire, but it seemed like it wouldnât revive at all. As the firewood dwindled and the flames grew weaker, the bitter cold of the snowstorm seeped into the cabin, chilling the air and turning every breath into a visible mist. Despite your best efforts, the fire refused to revive, leaving you shivering and desperate for warmth.
âI did come here to be alone, but this is not what I envisioned,â you laughed to yourself, hugging your blanket tighter.Â
Your phone was not getting any network, so you hoped that Hoseok would somehow be awake at 2 AM. Bundling yourself up to the best of your abilities, you set out to his side of the cabin, knocking at his door as loudly as you could.Â
A few minutes later, a rather disgruntled Hoseok appeared at the door. âIs everything okay?â he rasped, hair awry and clothes haphazardly pulled on.Â
âI think my heating is broken, and the fire isnât reviving, either.â You explained.Â
âAhh.â Hoseok welcomed you in his cabin - a near mirror image of your one - and let you settle up on the couch while he volunteered to check on your heating system.Â
While Hoseok busied himself outside, you noticed how tidy Hoseok had kept the cabin. There were more photos here - though you could only recognise a few faces - and a few more albums, stacked on the table next to the fireplace. Curiosity getting the better of you, you decided to peruse through one of them, immediately finding pictures of people from your neighbourhood celebrating Christmas together. On some pages, you could find your own parents smiling back at you, with your siblings holding hands with the other kids from the neighbourhood and singing carols captured in a faded photo.Â
To your surprise, you stumbled upon a faded photograph of two young kids, clutching a bag of peppermints, wearing matching grins.
Hoseok stepped in at that time, and yet, in your shock, you could barely register any of the words he was saying.
"Hoseok, is this...?" you began, showing him the picture.
He glanced over and chuckled. "Yeah, that's me, and my neighbourâs kid. We used to be quite the troublemakers when our families spent holidays here together."
You smiled. âDo you know where this kid is now?â
âNo,â he said, sadly. âI wish I did, though. We used to be best friends when we were younger, literally joined at the hip, but didnât really stay in touch after I left. I sometimes do wonder about her.âÂ
You held the picture up to your face, making Hoseok face you. âDonât you think something about us looks similar?âÂ
Hoseok frowned, judging the faded Kodak with your beaming face. âYou do have the same eyes, now that you say it. She had very pretty eyes.â
âDo you not remember her name?â You asked.Â
âWe would call each other with nicknames,â Hoseok said, dusting the snow off his hair. âI used to call her Bunny, and she used to call me-â
âHobi,â you completed, eyes gleaming.Â
Hoseok looked stunned. âYeah, thatâs what she called me. How did you know that?â
You laughed at his oblivion. âBecause I am Bunny, silly.â
âWha-oh?â Hoseok exclaimed, bracing himself as you rushed to hug your childhood best friend. âAre you serious?âÂ
âI am,â you convinced him, finding it just as hard to believe as him. I mean, you donât come to a cabin on the outskirts of the town looking for solitude only to bump into your childhood best friend again, do you?Â
Hoseok pulled away from you, gripping your shoulders and letting his eyes take in every part of you - as if he were meeting you for the first time again. âI canât believe it is you.âÂ
âMe neither,â you said, as you kissed his cheek. âIt has been far too long, Hobi.âÂ
Hoseok's astonishment lingered in the air as you both navigated the surprising reunion. The faded photograph, a relic of childhood mischief, lay forgotten on the table, replaced by the incredulous exchange between Bunny and Hobi after years of separation.
The cabin, with its walls echoing with the laughter of yesteryears, seemed to encase the timeless connection that had just resurfaced. Hoseok's eyes remained fixed on you, his disbelief slowly giving way to the realization that the Bunny he once knew was standing right in front of him.
As the shock settled, you couldn't help but laugh at the sheer serendipity of the moment. "I never imagined I'd find Bunny and Hobi reunited in a cabin on the outskirts of town," you remarked, a playful gleam in your eyes.
Hoseok joined in your laughter, the familiarity of shared memories weaving a comforting thread between you. "It's like a plot from a nostalgic movie," he added, shaking his head in amazement.
The two of you, now seated on the sofa, exchanged stories of the years that had passed, bridging the gap between then and now. The cabin, a silent witness to the unravelling narrative, seemed to cradle the essence of your rekindled friendship.
As the night wore on, and the snowstorm outside intensified, the cosy cabin transformed into a haven against the wintry tempest. Hoseok, ever thoughtful, stoked the fireplace, the flames casting a warm glow on the shared stories and laughter.
The sofa, now an island in the sea of nostalgia, beckoned both of you to its comforting embrace. The flickering flames, the snowstorm outside, and the whispers of shared memories paved the way for an unspoken understanding.
"You know," Hoseok began, his tone gentle, "it feels like we never really left those days behind. Just picked up where we left off."
You nodded in agreement, feeling a sense of belonging that transcended time. "It's like we're continuing a story that got interrupted."
As the night deepened, the warmth of the cabin and the shared connection became a refuge from the cold. The sofa, once a witness to the nostalgia of the past, now cradled the reunion of Bunny and Hobi.
Hoseok, looking at you with a softness in his eyes, spoke words that resonated with the atmosphere of the cabin. "I'm glad you found your way back, Bunny."
You leaned in, your shoulders brushing against each other, and whispered, "Me too, Hobi. Me too."
The flickering flames painted a dance on the log walls, casting shadows that seemed to waltz in rhythm with your shared laughter. The coziness of the cabin, the gentle snowstorm outside, and the rekindled friendship all merged into a symphony of comfort.
In the hushed moments that followed, the realization dawned that sleep was claiming its territory. The sofa, now transformed into a shared haven, invited both of you to surrender to its embrace.
"You know, Hobi," you said, your voice a sleepy murmur, "I never thought I'd find such warmth in the midst of a snowstorm."
Hoseok chuckled, the sound a gentle melody. "Maybe the storm outside brought us the warmth we didn't know we needed."
And so, amidst the crackling fire and the distant howl of the snowstorm, you and Hoseok snuggled closer, finding solace in the shared warmth. The flickering flames painted a canvas of comfort, casting a soft glow on your intertwined fingers.
And then, as if the universe had orchestrated the moment, your gaze met Hoseok's, and in that shared glance, a silent understanding bloomed. With a tenderness that mirrored the nostalgia of rediscovery, your lips met in a gentle kiss, sealing the night with a promise of new beginnings. The flickering flames seemed to dance in celebration, casting a warm glow on the cabin, now a witness to your reunion.Â
As sleep began to weave its tranquil spell, Hoseok whispered, "Iâm so glad I met you again, Bunny."
You smiled, the words a gentle echo in the cozy cabin. "Iâm so grateful, Hobi."
While your previous year left much to be forgotten, it seemed that this year had begun with the embrace of an unexpected reunion, the flickering flames and the snowstorm outside bearing witness to the rekindling of a friendship that time had only strengthened. In the arms of the cabin, beneath the quilt of shared memories, you and Hoseok surrendered to the tranquility of the night, finding peace in the warmth of each other's presence.
