Dear residents of Krovs,

It's likely not a secret that last week councilmen Eros Romanov and Stigr Anselm were attacked separately in Krovs Town and Krovs Castle. The council is doing everything they can in order to find leads into who may be behind these. Mr. Romanov has brought it to the council's attention in a delayed email that it is very likely these attacks inside Krovs are connected to the previous murders, if that hasn't already been stated.

Yesterday it was discovered that Italian councilman Raphael De Luca was attacked in Krovs Castle's gardens in a similar manner. He was uninjured due to swift reflexes and took the liberty of scheduling a trial against recently arrived slave Roman Thomson. The slave's name came up in Rhys Dasior's investigation of the Portuguese councilman's death and Mr. De Luca pursued the lead, which he claims is enough to suspect Roman being guilty of some level of involvement.

The trial against Roman Thomson will begin proceedings on Saturday, May 13th. Guard Hwan Seu has already collected the suspect and imprisoned him until then. Hwan, Rhys Dasior and slave Raven Astor are being called as witnesses on Mr. De Luca's behalf.

The council again urges anyone who might have any information into this matter to come forward as it will greatly help in establishing leads and putting an end to these assaults.

While Tiernan strolls through Krovs Town this evening, he stops in his tracks. The hair on the back of his neck rises as he hears something moving about in the shadowed foliage. Nothing ever fazed Tiernan, not even the recent murders and attempted murders of the other Councilmen, but he knew it was only a matter of time until he was targeted. He'd made enemies during his long lifetime, some very recently, so any attack on him wouldn't have been surprising.

Taking some time to visit the town and clear his head, Tiernan strolled through one of the dimly-lit streets, which already felt a little off to him. With his senses on high alert, Tiernan remained completely calm and unbothered, but the click of the crossbow trigger made him react instantly. With the sharp stake flying towards him, Tiernan managed to grab it mid-flight, just an inch away from his chest. "Nice try, but it's going to take a lot more than that to get rid of me," he called out to.. well, whoever it was that had just tried to end his existence, casually twirling the stake as he did.

It's as Ilya is leaving town hall in the village that he hears a rustling in the bushes. High on alert, he turns just in time when there's a click and a whoosh! as he's met with the sight of a stake flying right towards him...

There was a trail of people leaving the town hall when he heard the noise, and for a brief moment he considered ignoring it. If he hadn't just been at a trial he would have, right now he was prepared for any attack that may have come onto him. He had looked over to the noise when he heard it just in time for the stake that shot out through the bushes towards him. Given enough time to reach he quickly moved out of the way, barely missing the stake by an inch, hearing it woosh right by his ear.

The people around him scrambled, some even screamed, leaving the councilman unable to see who the figure was that attacked him. Or nearly tried to had they had been quicker and smarter than they were to attack him from behind cover.

As Lucien made his way back to his lab from a walk to clear his head, he could feel something different in the air. It only took a few seconds of this realization before the click rang out. And just like the seconds before the click, a well aimed stake was in the air and moments away from hitting him......

Lucien had left his lab for once because it had been so long, but if he was feeling anything different it was hard to tell since everything was off and had been since he'd learned of Aurelius' death. The underlying distrust of everyone and thing around him and his heightened awareness hadn't changed. By the time the stake hit the air Lucien wasn't viewable by his attacker giving him nothing to aim at. And it was a him for Lucien who, in his spiraling madness, most assuredly saw his attacker before he could retreat from his failed attempt. The Moroi didn't pursue him having no need to because he knew who it was.

Raphael walks through the castle gardens, enjoying the spring day and checking out the stock of unclaimed slaves outside. Something in the fully blossomed trees catches his attention and he stops. A wooden stake comes whistling through the air right at him...

Raphael heard the rustle of movement in the bushes long before the mechanical click from the shadows of the trees. His vision immediately focused on the sharp wooden point heading straight for him and he twisted to the side, grabbing it right out of thin air before the weapon could even make contact with him. His eyes narrowed as he glared into the woods, seeing nothing any more in the covered shade.

The council was just as clueless as he was about who was truly behind these attacks. This assassin could be anyone out of over a billion people in the world whether they started in Krovs or not. However, as he studied the stake in his hand, this could lead to a very good opportunity to attend to something more personal, whether he was right or not.

Perhaps he needed a chat with the senior guard Hwan Seu...

As Ember walks close behind his master on Krovs Castle grounds there's a soft mechanical sound that he doesn't hear until it's too late. A wooden stake whistles through the air as it soars straight for Raiden and Ember...

It was all too quiet which made it so easy for him to hear the sound coming from behind them. He only had a second to react before whatever was shot hit Raiden, in the second he jumped right in the line of fire. It was clear to him the moment he was hit that this was meant for Raiden, the stake lodge deep into his back just beneath his left shoulder. Grunting he immediately turned around to see who it might have been, to catch a glimpse of someone would have been helpful. What he saw wasn't much, they had left before he could make certain of who they might have been.

When the adrenaline slowed it was then that he realized just what had happened, and the blood that began to change the colore of his shirt. "Fuck." He grunted outloud, looking down at the wound and the tip of the stake sticking out of his body. "Oh-- that's not good."

As much as Eros didn't want to attend the execution, he knew that as a councilman he needed to. So the Greek councilman made his way down to town to attend the execution of Finn Winchester, deciding to go alone since he couldn't handle the gossiping of his colleagues. That decision proved to be a mistake as the tall man walked the path to town, as he was walking he heard an audible click and when he turned to look at the source of the noise, he was greeted with a wooden stake soaring towards his person.

Fortunately for Eros, he managed to avoid a killing blow but he let out a loud scream as the wooden stake impaled itself in his shoulder and he fell to the ground, clutching his bleeding arm. His eyes darted to the location of the flying stake but found nothing there. After collecting his thoughts, he pulled himself to his feet and made his way to the execution, clutching his bloody shoulder.

It had been a good week since his interaction with Finn. Nikolas was starting to feel a lot better and figured a walk around town might help. He had alerted the guards a head of time and sent his own security for a sweep of the place. Everything seemed fine, it was a simple there and back. Nothing too crazy. There hadn’t been any red flags. However it was when he noticed a little baby bird fell from its nest that things went wrong. Picking the thing up he clicked his tongue as he looked at the nest. “Such a fragile thing. You’re lucky you’re not injured.” Putting the bird back Nikolas was turning to leave when the click came. The security must have heard it too and just in time. Without his full strength recovered Nikolas had just managed to react, and shift, but if it hadn’t been for the hellhound on his team stepping in then the stake would have hit him in the gut. The hound looked at him to check. Luckily it had only grazed him. Tearing his shirt and scraping him in the side. He growled as the stake lay on the ground behind him. “Get me Winchester’s fucking head.”

Rhys Dasior's Investigation Results: Portugal Councilman's Death

With Italian councilman Raphael De Luca's permission, Rhys Dasior and Seth Harper make plans on traveling to Portugal and Spain to investigate the murder sites. While the ashes are swept away, there's still enough evidence for the two of them to collect. Their ties to Krovs Castle and working directly for the council help open the doors into a proper investigation. Fortunately the staff within the councilman's home are loyal to their deceased employer and more than willing for thoroughness.

Here's what's found at the very first site in Portugal...

First, he and Seth speak to the local authorities who conducted their own investigation. None of them are witches so they only have their speculations from what they could find. They picked up fingerprints from the councilman, his assistant, the few staff members who lived and worked there regularly, and one other set of prints that wasn't in their system. It seemed the councilman had a guest right before he was killed, a young-looking boy with dark curly hair and brown eyes. They share a copy of the police sketch and Rhys and Seth head to the councilman's home while Seth comments that the dude in the picture almost looks familiar, though he can't quite place where. It bothers him the whole ride to the councilman's estate.

Immediately upon entering the property, there appears to be no signs of magical "foul play" recently used on the grounds. The councilman's assistant, a witch just shy of 100 years, explains that they've warded the councilman's home and shows Rhys and Seth the sigils embedded in all entry points to keep enemies out.

They ask the assistant about the councilman's last guest and show the sketch. The assistant confirms and provides similar details the authorities gave them –– the guest was a familiar demon named Roman Thomson. He arrived in their country about a month or two before the death seeking an audience with the councilman. Roman wanted to find his husband, Avery Thomson, and his trail led him here believing that the councilman might have an idea where to go next. They continue explaining that while the councilman had no idea where Avery was, he promised to do some digging on Roman's behalf in exchange for a few favors, such as hit jobs, spying for information, and even sexual-based. The assistant isn't fully aware of the details beyond that, however, they were present for the last conversation that happened the same day the councilman was killed. Roman came in a few hours before the councilman's death furious that the councilman's end of the bargain wasn't being held up. He threatened to kill him right before he stormed out.

The assistant shows them the sun ring they kept. Oddly enough, divination magic detects the protection charm appears still in tact. It's possible that a dark magic spell could have disrupted it just long enough to kill the poor councilman. Rhys holds it in his hands and sees nothing to confirm that suspicion as he searches through his psychometry.

A quick walk through the home retracing the councilman's steps that day shows nothing suspicious either. Not until they go outside to the actual scene of the crime. Rhys enters a trance, tapping into his clairvoyant abilities to observe the scene as if he'd been there...

He watches the councilman leave his home dressed in a finely tailored suit and smart phone in hand. His sun ring is there on his finger preventing him from bursting into flame as he walks across the courtyard towards the black car waiting to pick him up. No one else is around to see nor is the councilman focused enough when the passenger window of the limousine opens and a wooden stake shoots out, impaling the councilman's heart with professional-level accuracy. If Rhys is paying close enough at the time of the shot, he can hear the subtle pings and snaps of a mechanism launching the weapon, indicating a crossbow could have very well been used even though he doesn't see it from the angle he's standing at and the shadows in the car.

The councilman falls the ground with very little noise –– a sharp gasp and a thump of impact. There's no question he's dead... or as dead as a vampire can be. The attacker then leaves his card, dressed all in black and face covered by a hoodie, sunglasses, and a mask over his nose and mouth. Rhys also notes this figure seems distorted to further hide his face and he can detect the abjuration magic surrounding him. He doesn't know exactly what spell it is or if the killer is the caster himself or had it cast upon him.

He approaches the body and a gloved hand removes the sun ring from the fallen councilman's finger. It's then that the sun does its work in burning the body, the flames licking at that pale skin just as the killer removes his weapon, enters his car, and drives off. The timing is well-practiced. He's gone just as the councilman recovers from the stake in his heart only to suffer from burning alive. His screams of agony are what draw his home's servants although by the time they arrive it's far too late...

While Rhys was in his trance, Seth was focused on Roman and where he'd seen him before. Once the elder witch wakes, Seth explains how he remembered Roman's face as one of the newest slaves in the Undercroft directory. He'd been brought in right around the time the Portuguese and Spanish councilmen were reported dead. It might be worth questioning him when they return to the castle?

We'll see what they find next in Spain...

The recent council deaths are everything that anyone in Krovs can talk about these days. And as those reports linger in the surface of Jasper's mind, they trigger something. He freezes in place, eyes rolling back into his head as the visions strike, his nose bleeding after a minute goes by. He's in this state for at least five minutes that feel like seconds to Jasper. The images come in clear as day yet they linger only enough for Jasper to piece things together.

First, he sees a familiar image of a news report on TV. Another council death in Finland. The date and time is unclear as the vision changes.

He watches a silhouetted figure running through a forest. It's dark and hard to make out any other details other than male and likely average height, no taller than 6'0" from the far distance he sees him. It must be recent with small patches of melting snow.

The scene switches to a view of a quaint village from a high peak –– it's Krovs Town, to be exact. He recognizes the massive town hall building, the bank, the police station, and the magnificent church with its gleaming stained glass in the sunlight.

He blinks and the vantage point changes to a first person view, vision clearing as a sharp wooden point comes flying directly at him...

And that's when Jasper snaps out of it.

Jasper tasted blood and bent in half as he coughed and screamed, the sound choked as he tried not to swallow his own tongue. “Fffffuck!” Curling in on himself, he wondered if Armande had done that somehow. Only to remember the vision and fight the urge to vomit from the feeling of being stabbed before he’d snapped out of it. “Fuck me sideways, that was fuckin’ shite.” Pulling himself to the bathroom, he crawled into the tub and turned the water on, not caring that he was still fully dressed. Cradled in hot water, he tried to recover. “What the fuck did that mean?”

It was a nice evening for a stroll. Svein was just leaving the castle, getting just barely out of sight when footsteps were heard and then gone. It seemed like someone was also out for a stroll. Then the machanical click as a stake began to fly through the air straight for Svein……

Svein knew it was only a matter of time before he too was attacked. The arrow shot through his shoulder, barely dodging his heart and the councilman stumbled on his feet. “Fucker!” He looked around and barely saw a glimpse of the attacker.

After a long and grueling trial between Nikolas and Finn Winchester, the latter was declared guilty with a majority of 8:3 vote. With his execution scheduled for the demon slave to be dropped into a pool of holy water, the interested council members and castle and town residents gather to watch the show's finale.

In the town hall courtyard, Finn is positioned right over the blessed water much like a dunk tank in a carnival, collared and bound to prevent escape. His toes just barely touch the water with an audible hissing when a yell breaks through the crowd that isn't his own.

Eros Romanov arrives with a wooden stake lodged in his shoulder, looking absolutely furious.

It would appear the assassin hasn't been caught after all...

As Roland is walking the castle grounds, movement amongst the trees captures his attention. It's perfect timing really as the next thing he hears is that mechanical click of a crossbow right as a wooden stake comes shooting out from the shadows in his direction...

The movement had him on alert and Roland stilled, turning towards what he saw, or thought he saw. He supposed he could've predicted the tell tale click that would come next and the stake. There was more than enough time to move and get out of the way but what would that prove? What would it solve? These attacks had gone on interminably and as yet he couldn't see anyone to make another baseless accusation against. He hadn't known he was going to make the decision he came to in that split second until he made it but Roland stood his ground and let the stake hit him, exactly where it was intended to. Kaj's blood was in his system, it was exactly the reason he'd been drinking from the familiar, and he would (hopefully) self resurrect quite quickly. As the murderer clearly intended to take his daylight ring, if he thought he'd killed him and Roland awakened suddenly, perhaps he'd actually see who it was or at least get some clues to solve this mystery. It was a risk, but a calculated one.

So Roland was staked.

It was surprisingly quick, a sudden, blinding, piercieng pain and a rush of dark and cold as his eyes closed and his body fell where it was struck, leaves crunching underneath him as he hit the ground. Pale skin went ashen as he lay unmoving. A minute ticked by. Another.

The stake was ejected suddenly, the ashen colour leaking away from his skin and Roland's eyes flew open as he regained his senses, everything rushing back to him as he sat up suddenly. There was a figure who had been close to him, who clearly hadn't counted on his revival, that fled as soon as the stake was gone but Roland absorbed as many details of their fleeing form as he could, even sprang forward with super speed to try and catch them but they'd vanished into the trees. Roland cursed and rubbed the already closing hole in his chest.

That was not something he wanted to relive any time soon but at least he had a few details he could bring to the council.

Wanted Plots/About Remi

Remi is the French councilman. He has been coming to Krovs since its founding, and will stay for a few months to two years before disappearing for months at a time as he constantly needs to attend to things back at home. He has a heavy preference for very warm blooded creatures, though this does not mean he likes them so much as he likes their warmth. He enjoys art and travel, and tends to try to make friends with Masters over slaves.

Wanted Plots:

Past Claims: As he has been in and out for two hundred years, he’s undoubtedly had some claims in the past. While these can be any species, he does lean towards things like fire elementals, dragons, phoenixes, mammalian/avian shifters, and werewolves.

Lover/Ex-Lovers: Masters and staff. Can be anyone. He’s 1670, so it can have been a past thing. He’s not always very warm and fuzzy, but he does enjoy having regular company in his bed.

Friends: He’s old, he’s been coming around, he’s sure to have friends.

Enemies: People he doesn’t get along with, of any status. He’s kind of cranky sometimes. 

Slaves He Frequents: Whether this is because they’re warm and taste nice or because he just likes harassing them.

Hey guys! In my attempt to kick Lovell back into action, I’ve decided to write up a wanted connections post for some ideas I have for him.

I’ve been playing him much too happily and sunshine-bright when he’s actually my darkest and most volatile character compared to the rest of my boys. He just hasn’t had the chance to show that side of him yet. This is due to him being in a castle surrounded by vampires whom he sees as his friends. He will display a completely different side to anyone else whom he sees as a threat.

Anyway, please see below for some connection ideas!

WANTED CONNECTIONS

PAST FRIENDS/LOVERS: Lovell is not really one for sentiment and romance so these connections will be friends with benefits types of connections. He particularly enjoys those who can keep up with him, study the same field as him (science, magic, a mix), tall dark and handsome types, anyone really. If he can unleash his violent tendencies with these connections, it would be a bonus. Any species welcome!

PAST RIVALS/ENEMIES: Lovell is very loyal to vampires and the vampire side of things. These connections can be from the Second War where he actively strategised to kill high profile figures in the Faerie army. If anyone would like a connection where Lovell killed off your character’s friend/lover/family member, we could definitely play that here. Any species welcome!

VAMPIRE CONNECTIONS: Lovell is a vampire fanboy and the higher the profile the vampire the more he will want to impress them. This usually works out for him but has also backfired on him because he can come on really strong without really trying. Lovell is part of a prominent vampire family that he killed before he arrived at Krovs. It’d be cool if he could find a connection to someone who knew his family when they were alive! New connections also welcome!

WEREWOLF/WEREWOLF HYBRID CONNECTIONS: Lovell is half-werewolf, as much as he hates to admit it. It is a side of himself that he tries to squash because he’s proud of being a vampire. That being said, he unconsciously gravitates towards werewolves and their hybrids because his werewolf blood calls out for a pack even though his vampire blood rejects it.

FLEDGLING CONNECTIONS: Lovell experiments with hybridisation and is not beneath creating fledglings for the sole purpose of science. He is also not the best sire as he has the tendency to ignore those he deems ‘failed experiments’. This could be a really fun connection to play!

      Aside from the one vampire who broke the initial barriers, this individual would’ve “befriended” Eno and manipulated him. During this period, he was most vulnerable. The timeframe is flexible, but it can not be a young vampire. This individual needs to be well over 700+ years and does not need to be a purebred vampire. He also does not need to be cruel or malicious. Stern and manipulative is a “yes”. Anyone willing to preserve the species and Krovs are welcome to inquire. This person can take credit for his capture and the initial break. He is also a recurring partner. Does not need to desire a claim, but also does not make Eno beg because he only has to give him a certain “look” or “tone”.

Mun Note: I will come up with more plots, but I am awful at these types of things. I just like to feel a group out first and mold the wants to that idea. If you want Eno as a specific plot point, I’m willing to add that to mine. :)
