Much of Dutch food is mid, but boerenkoolstampot, confectionery and baked goods, and some of Dutch fried foods are great!

Ones I highly recommend:

- Limburgse vlaai, a sweet or tart pie you eat like a pizza slice

- stroopwafels

- licorice (many foreigners hate it, but those who don’t LOVE it)

- oliebollen, especially the ones with pudding filling

- kroket, a fried food similar to bitterballen, but bigger and can be eaten solo, as a side dish to fries, or on a sandwich; there’s several different kinds of filling, I prefer “goulash” kroketten

- boerenkoolstampot, which is mashed potatoes (with actual potatoes, not a mix) and kale; works best with some gravy or a vegan gravy alternative. This is a staple autumn/winter dish and the main reason I’m 6+ ft and can lift my own weight despite being an erd.

I still have an old Dutch cookbook, so I might have to make some stuff from it. Unfortunately I don’t have the necessary cookware for some dishes, but at least I got all the herbs and spices!

The other day I asked one of the staff at school if his cultural food was good and he said it was pretty mid. That got me curious.
