MEDITATIVE WEEK OF POETRY: KRISTIN ROBERTSON
Tumblr media
I never planned to track down every person I ever kissed, but after I win the lottery and stumble into Collier, my junior prom date, on the metro in Madrid, it becomes my thing. I gather souvenirs. From Collier a paper fan with Picasso’s Guernica accordioned inside it: the bull, the flames, the women screaming. Collier’s friend Leland (may he rest) sleepwalked upstairs during a housefire, so I drive to the field where we traded spit only once. I liked breathing his name Leland in the baseball diamond, my hands field-chalked into snowy owls, so I funnel the marking powder into a vial of coke on Becca’s keychain. Becca also a one-off, a make- shift porch party, my boyfriend busy under some overpass spray-painting Nightwatchman. When I find him in Cabbagetown he apologizes for the abortions, both of them, twenty years like yesterday, asks to bum money for Newports. I unfold what I have on me into green wings. When he fumbles his lighter I slip it into my jeans, the fifth pocket, otherwise useless. They weren’t all like this. Some I loved: Jamie Webb in third grade who died looking up. In a lightning storm, he gripped the tent pole. His mother writes coordinates along the tendons of my wrist. When I follow them to an outlet mall, I cry and buy a pretzel. I wash my ventral tendon like a ventral fin, and I do swim out to an offshore oil rig where I reunite with the heroin dealer I loved for six years. Mike offers a tar ball, names the shells I collected on my swim Grace and Grace and Grace, just like his cats. Brian was allergic, but he slept on the floor of my hospital room for ten nights and married me. He had nothing else to give beyond divorce papers and seventeen crystal flutes I smashed for glitter the Halloween I ended up at the Clermont Lounge and fell in love for an hour with a stripper. Chandra worked the unlit end of a match into her nipple. Between songs, she explained Chandra means moon in Sanskrit, as in chandrasana, half the moon. We meet for tea. She doesn’t remember me, of course, but she pretends. I slide an envelope of my windfall up the stripper’s thigh, and Chandra says, Don’t go turning what I give you as a souvenir into a bird. Only it is a bird, a stolen cassowary from the Atlanta Zoo. I walk it twelve blocks to the subway, cradle its oceanic neck and vestigial spike in my lap, along with the lit match, the glitter, the Graces. The latitudes and lightning, the owl vials and housefires, the bulls and screams. All the diamonds. It might be used to attract a mate, he says, the man next to me, as he traces the cassowary’s crest. But no one knows for sure. From his small backpack, the bird’s favorite: a fallen plum eaten whole.

Im not sure if anyone has heard of the new werewolf show 'Wolf Pack'. I saw the first 3 episodes today and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed at the moment. I thought Jeff Davis is gonna cook up something even better than Teen Wolf but tbh, it's not that great.
new actors like armani jackson, tyler gray, bella shepard are really gorgeous and HOT AF but their characters are not quite how I wanted them to be. In S1 of Teen Wolf, all the characters were bunch of carefree, hormonal teens. I get that this show is not even in the same universe as Teen Wolf but the characters are so serious, so dramatic; it's too much for a supernatural show with teenagers in it.
Sarah Michelle Geller *chefs kiss*
The eyes and teeth are more realistic so that's brilliant 👏
I like that they're showing things anxiety disorders, forest fires, autism. Realistic things that are refreshing to see.
These are just my current opinions. I hope I change my mind cuz I love werewolves and Teen Wolf, and I'll be very upset if I don't like this show.
p.s. armani and tyler are very very very🥵

TV Show Review: Wolf Pack

Extremely Lacklustre but Still Binge-worthy
As a huge Teen Wolf lover, watching Wolf Pack felt extremely nostalgic. It wasn't just because it's a werewolf TV show or another one of Jeff Davis's works. It's also because of the soundtrack choices. However, shockingly enough, I did not expect to enjoy this TV show as much as I did. In fact, I was skeptical because of its "legacy".
So yeah, don't go into Wolf Pack expecting Teen Wolf and then maybe, or most probably, you will enjoy this TV show the way it is.
Wolf Pack is a short TV show with only 8 episodes. The show started out with two bangs, the fire and the bites. And these two bangs became the constant question marks to these 8 episodes. Each episode was filled with so much suspense and not much was being answered. You really only get your answers in the last two episodes and even so, there remained a question unanswered, who was the "No Caller ID".
Now, lets discuss the whole storyline of Wolf Pack. It really is not the most interesting werewolf storyline out there. Our werewolves are as confused as us watchers. And despite the show's title, the pack was just not packing 90% of the time. Additionally, there is a serious lack of action, it's almost annoying to not see our werewolves in action at all. And I really would have liked watching more of the kids rather than the adults... Ultimately, the binge factor of this TV show was the mystery. Who started it? Why was it started? How did it happen? Were they chosen specifically, because wasn't Austin attacked first yet how come he survived unscathed (physically, not mentally)?
As a first season, this was acceptable but if this style continues on to a next season, then I have more complains.
I understand due to the strike, there will not be any news of Wolf Pack's future, not until the studios do the right thing and give the actors and writers what they deserve. And as much as I want a future for this show, the studios need to do the right thing more. I cannot do anything because I am not in either community so I will just hope for the best.
Which brings me to, if/when the best happens, please don't make the father a werewolf or them a couple. I don't like that possible future aspect at all, not one bit. You know what? I also do not like the possibility of her being part of the "good team"; right from episode one, she has been giving me villain vibes. I will not name who she is but I believe I made it obvious enough.
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5/5)
P.S.: I watched this show for Harlan and Cyrus (these two have extremely sick chemistry, it's maddening) so here's to me hoping there's a bright future for them.

This week’s Wolf Pack has a worthwhile twist that can change EVERYTHING. And there are some fun character-driven beats I hope to see more of this season.
Here’s my review! As always, if you like the article and want to support me, please click the link and engage with my tweet. It's REALLY helpful.
