The final book of the Black Angels trilogy - You Won’t See Me Coming by Kristen Orlando “Reagan and Luke are hiding in Vermont (after the events of the last book) when Reagan gets word that her friend Harper is in danger. She and Luke go rogue again to keep Harper out of the hands of the cartel. Can they make it in time? Or will the Agency mole betray them?” A wild ride for the final book. This is considered as YA. But it’s atypical. There is a lot of action, but also a character questioning her decisions and choices. I cannot figure out why more people are not reading these - quick, intense, action thrillers. @kristenowrites Please don’t retire Reagan and the Black Angels. I’ll bet they have a lot more stories to tell. One more Best of 2018 post. My favorite Nonfiction and YA. If you like some nonfiction you should read The Boys in the Boat 🚣‍♀️- a great book about building a team. And everyone should read You Will Not Have My Hate, a tremendous book about choices and forgiveness. You Won’t Know I’m Gone is a great YA series that gets zero buzz (new book comes out today - did you know that?) Obsidio was a great conclusion to the Illuminae trilogy. A Case for Jamie was a great addition to the Charlotte Holmes series and The Librarian of Auschwitz was one of my favorite audiobooks. Some great reads in 2019. You Don't Know My Name, by Kristen Orlando, is a great little action-packed YA read. Reagan is a normal high school student. Except that her parents belong to an ultra-secret CIA unit - the Black Angels. And she has always trained to follow in their footsteps. But there's a boy (isn't there always) and Reagan isn't sure she wants to be a Black Angel. A mission goes awry- mayhem ensues. Can Reagan save the day. This book reminded me a little of the Boy Nobody series. Lots if action with just enough humanity thrown in. Several have spoken and Tina @tbretc wants to know why we Bookstagram. Why l Bookstagram #whyibookstagram I’m a middle-aged grandfather - married for 33 years to Meredith. I don’t really look like the typical #bookstagram demographic but I did win a trophy for reading the most books once in the library summer reading program (1974 😮) About as “book nerd” as you can be 💁🏼‍♂️ 🏆 My first book post was in 2015 of The Rosie Project. I started posting books mostly as a way to keep up with what I had read. And to find some new book recommendations. And then I discovered all these people who liked books as much as I did. 😮 And l would comment on a post that l had enjoyed a book and they would comment back. Who knew that something that was always an escape could become a great place to engage. And now I’m sitting in my home library with a big TBR stack - many books l never would have looked at before. I get a blue #botm box every month with some great reads. Meredith is reading with me and there are people all over the planet happy to talk about books. Sure I’m a little envious when someone gets an ARC of a book I’m looking forward to (Looking at everyone with a copy of Anxious People right now 👀 😄) But good for them for developing publisher relationships. I’ve started reviewing on @netgalley more and getting to enjoy some early reads. I like reading the books that are outliers and showing you some reads you may not have seen.
