PANSPERMIA / KRISTAL GUNGORUN
Sound Monsters – are universal team based in Turkey and their main purpose is to bring good sound, give inspiration and kick start for new era.
Sound Monsters Crew and Quantum Digits Records are presenting their first compilation ‘VA Panspermia’ compiled by Oxomo.
Unique and some new producers from different continents of the world, carefully selected tracks and also especially created for this compilation. With their new approach of darkside/ psycore music we will travel both outer space and deep into magma.
In this compilation they’re focusing on Panspermia Theory. Panspermia Theory suggests that; “Seeds of life came from outer space and planets exchanged life. Life can spread from planet to planet or from stellar system to stellar system, carried on meteors.” Panspermia literally means ‘Seeds Everywhere’.
When life has a structure that moves forward and expands with every atom, the so-called ‘smartest’ species of Earth, destroys it’s own kind and other species around it… Is humankind a biological virus or a magnificent species that will evaluate the experience of life and give meaning to existence?
The creative process began with you , then spread to the world-wide artists and labels…Can you please tell us about the process of the making of this album…
This year I started to work with Quantum Digit Records (Canada) and Popol Vuh Records (Mexico) as a dj and visual artist with the name Oxomo. With these two labels support, I started to connect with many artists around the world. After months of searching and listening, I found good and new artists, fresh and interesting sounds. With their nice response and their sending some music for my sets, I had a lot of new tracks from different artists and had an idea to make a compilation and share their new and unique sound with my friends in different countries. In the beginning Otkun Atman from Quantum Digits Records helped me a lot to make this VA real, also all the artists who gave their time and inspiration for new tracks. DigitalX from Cyprus, made the mastering of the album. Good sound and nice artists came together from 10 countries and with a Panspermia Theory we had a concept and idea to send sound seeds from different sides of the world, to bring new and good sounds to more people…
Lets talk about the music…
You grew up on psychedelic music. What stuff did you listen to?
This is a big question . I started listening  Psychedelic Trance almost 10 years ago, in this time music and my tastes changed a lot. With technology, electronic music grew so fast, many artists from different cultures and with possibilities to use every kind of sound, psychedelic trance grew and had many kinds and different good artists from over the world. So Music also progress, changing with time, world, systems and our mind. For me in these years I started to be so specific about the music, I respect all kinds of psychedelic trance but I never really liked FullOn music, but at the beginning there was Goa and than Fullon. Also for Goa Trance, I really respect how it start and grew, there are really nice Goa Trance sounds but I feel like it’s not my kind of trance.
Even when there was no genre as Darkpsy, there was some dark sounds and with Cosmo and Highko,  something started to begin and also with Kindzadza and Psykovsky started to be known. Hitech seeds coming from the beginning of Dark Trance. In time music grew as technology grew, and there started to be more kinds in Darkpsy, soon there were new genres; ‘Forest’ and ‘Hi-tech’ we can also call ‘Cyberdelic’ and last years also Psycore, plus more slower bpm’s and styles as Dark Progressive and Zenonesque. Darkpsy started to be a big genre inside the Psychedelic Trance. I always liked some dark music, even before I met Psychedelic Trance, I was always searching for some dark sounds. Last years I’ve been listening to some Forest and Hi-tech music. I went to many festivals and searched for good sounds, from Forest side for sure there is  Ajja, Arjuna, Atriohm, Derango, Farebi Jalebi, Gu, SpagettiBrain, Frantic Noise, Paranoia Sector, Wayak Nuuk, Sychotria, Orestis, Zik, Insane Creatures and many more nice artists. As Dark Experimental and Hi-tech; Megalopsy, Dark Whisper, Will o Wisp, Kashyyyk, Insector, Osom, Arcek… Last years what I listen mostly was Hi-tech and Psycore, especially with the tribal sounds of Ogoun, Necropsycho, Voronkryon, Calyptratus, Whrikk, Yaminahua, Kaikkialla, Utu, Keluk…
And for me some new discoveries as in the VA Panspermia all the artists, MAramba, Crone, Tabura, Kinetik Flux, Tikbah, Elephant, Hyperekplexia, Miquizitli, Varazslo and Plankton. Also some more new discoveries for me and what I’m listening these last days; Manipadma, Kaya, Simbah, Cindervomit, Yoshua, Maleficium, Cali’Balam , Grimm, Eniko, Midzinko…
I feel like psychedelic trance is like an infinite sound coaster, that can go through and into your ear and it can build a sound labyrinth to coast faster and deeper. This sound labyrinth is elastic and open to change with new kind of sounds and trance…
Be elastic and catch the moment!!! 😉
Tell us about a few of your favorite tracks on this playlist. Why did you pick em?
Oh!! Hard to pick!! They are all great tracks! Maramba, Crone, Tikbah, Kinetik Flux, Plankton and Varazslo they made new tracks for this compilation. I was waiting the tracks with great excitement and it was also a great surprise to me! All was more than what I expected and good performance to produce in short time;  around a month they sent me the new tracks. From Elephant, Hyperekplexia, Tabura and Miquiztly I chose the tracks cuz they had some nice tribal and ethnic sounds and really strong, different style .
For me the track from Varazslo is really surprising, it’s a great sound maze with a good balance. But I especially try to find artists from different sides of the world, even from far they can dance on same the line, as for the listener from all over the world, all tracks has some cultural influences and that’s one of the reason I think; anyone who likes dark trance can find some track to love in this compilation 🙂
What makes a great psytrance tune?
For me as a listener, I like to hear some strong and good bass and interesting melodies , effects from the nature and culture, Psytrance is open to use any kind of sound in the tracks as effects or melodies.  Definitely all the construction need to have a story at the end, which will take you to a sound journey. The thing is, even the chaos needs to have some symmetrical or asymmetrical design, which will give a meaning to the chaos… If not, our ear will search and build on it 😉
If you could go back in time and experience any psytrance musical subculture or scene in any city, what would it be and why?
If is time travel in Psytrance history, most probably where this culture started ; India, Goa. Because psychedelic trance was born in Goa as GoaTrance. For sure I’d like to also see what happened at the beginning and how the culture grows in all the countries. Here in Turkey we are actually the people who saw how it started and grew in Turkey last 10 years, that makes you see how underground culture moves and give a chance to create and  share the ideas. But if you ask for now, as a festival traveler, I can not choose any city for live this culture, cuz now there are festival cities, that always change their land,  some of us live in a dream land that always changes and moves with all the people in festivals around the world. Now it becomes a traveling city, we go and build the land for a week in the festivals and always there is another one around so place is always moving. What is better than to have any city which is moving with a psychedelic music, life and family on the Earth!
Tell us about the coming events? Where will you be performing this summer?
As sound monsters crew, we will have our promo party for VA Panspermia in september 2016 and with the new season we will make small parties and family gatherings, will update infos soon on our sites 😉
