New collaboration with Loft & Amnibus was announced for Digimon Adventure!
Details about exact merch will follow soon, but the tweet states that the concept was decided by keeping the idea of 25th Anniversary in focus but the art itself is flower + wedding outfit themed. The collab will start in June which is considered a good month for brides in Japan and so we see many wedding themed anime illustrations get released during this time every year.
Now it is time for another certified Ayushi breakdown 🫡
Tumblr media
Taichi and Agumon are seen holding Edelweiss, with a pattern of the flower drawn beautifully on Taichi's shirt as well. Edelweiss in Japanese Language of Flowers (Hanakotoba) is meant to symbolise 'cherished memories/大切な思い出' and 'courage/勇気', while in Western Language of Flowers it's meant to symbolise 'noble courage' and 'daring' - both of which are apt for our best leader 🧡
Tumblr media
Yamato and Gabumon are seen holding Alstroemeria (Lily of the Incas, Peruvian Lily), and while the flower motif is not drawn onto his clothes, Yamato's coat's breast pocket is decorated with the flower as well. In Hanakotoba, Alstroemeria is meant to symbolise 'persistence/持続' or 'longing for the future/未来への憧れ', while in Western Language of Flowers it's meant to symbolise 'friendship' and 'devotion'. All meanings are apt for him imo, but especially persistence and longing for the future are very representative of his arc from the first series till Kizuna.
Tumblr media
Sora and Piyomon are seen with Pink Carnations, with the neckline of Sora's jumpsuit lined with a bunch of the flowers. I personally love the visual of Sora in this pink jumpsuit, it plays into her slightly tomboyish yet extremely gentle personality so well! In Hanakotoba carnations symbolise 'innocent and deep love/無垢で深い愛' and pink carnations specifically symbolise 'love of a woman/女性の' 'passionate love/熱愛' and "beautiful gesture/美しいしぐさ'. In Western Language of Flowers carnations symbolise 'fascination' and love'. All meanings are pretty accurate for Sora, but red carnations are used to symbolise Mother's love in Japan so it would've been nice if they threw in a mix of red and pink to hint at her relationship with her mother!
Tumblr media
Koushiro and Tentomon are seen holding Violet Sage, which at first glance I thought was Lavender. The flower pattern is also visible on his waistcoat and bowtie, which ties together his outfit very nicely! In Hanakotoba, Sage seems to have many symbolisations, 'respect/尊敬', 'wisdom/知恵', 'good home/良い家庭', and 'family love/家族愛'. But Blue (Violet) Sage specifically signify respect and wisdom. In Western Language of Flowers, Sage symbolises 'esteem', 'wisdom' and 'domestic virtue'. Again, a perfect choice for Koushiro, I personally would prefer to believe that they picked this not because of his crest but because of 'good home' and 'family love' since that part of Koushiro's arc in the first series was probably the most impressionable aspect of his character.
Tumblr media
Mimi and Palmon are seen holding baby's breath, with Mimi's dress covered in a pattern of it. Even keeping my bias towards Mimi aside, this is possibly one of the prettiest outfit of hers till date, it genuinely looks like she's about to walk down the aisle as a flower girl for a very happy couple! In Hanakotoba, Baby's Breath or Kasumisou, symbolises 'pure heart/清らかな心', 'innocence/無邪気', 'kindness/親切', and 'happiness/幸福'. In Western Language of Flowers it symbolises 'everlasting love', 'purity of heart', and 'innocence'. All meanings apply to Mimi to the T, but they're also very apt for the whole wedding theme of the merch which makes this particular outfit + flower choice my favourite from the lot.
Tumblr media
Jou and Gomamon are seen holding Violets or Sumire. I honestly struggled to figure out the flower for a while, at first glance I thought it was Periwinkle but since that was not mentioned in the Hanakotoba reference anywhere, I searched other people's interpretations and settled with Violets. His tie also has a cute pattern of the flower, and it makes me wonder if Koushiro and Jou went shopping for their outfits together! In Hanakotoba, Sumire symbolise 'modesty/謙虚', 'sincerity/誠実', and 'small happiness/小さな幸せ'. Depending on the colour, the symbolism can change in Hanakotoba, and purple Violets specifically represent 'fidelity' along with 'love'. In Western Language of Flowers it symbolises 'modesty' and 'faithfulness'. This is as Jou as a flower can get lol.
Tumblr media
Takeru and Patamon are seen with White Gerberas. Like Yamato, Takeru's outfit doesn't have a pattern of the flower, but the Gerberas themselves are pinned to his suspenders. In Hanakotoba, Gerbera symbolises 'hope/希望' and 'always moving forward/常に前進'. White Gerbera specifically are used to symbolise 'hope' and 'honesty/律儀'. In Western Language of Flowers it is meant to symbolise 'cheerfulness' and 'beauty'. All meanings are accurate for Takeru, no comment needed!
Tumblr media
Hikari and Tailmon are seen with Sunflowers. I personally feel that Hikari's outfit is a little too much compared to the rest, just the sunflower belt would've been enough but they added that extra line at the hem and it's kind of an overdose. In Hanakotoba, Sunflowers symbolise 'I gaze only at you/私はあなただけを見つめる', 'adoration/愛慕', and 'worship/崇拝'. In Western Language of Flowers, it symbolises 'adoration' and 'false riches'. I understand that they wanted to go with a bright or perky flower for Hikari but something like a Pink Aster which symbolises patience or Cosmos which symbolises harmony, peace etc. might suit Hikari better given the overall theme of the illustration. The only miss in the otherwise perfectly depicted theme and art!

Digimon Adventure 02 Best Partner Series - Part 1
More image songs! This time for Adventure 02, but I'm starting out with the older kids. I had a lot of fun listening to all of these. They really went all out this time. 12 CDs with 3 songs each (solo human, solo digimon & partner duet)!? Madness!
Taichi & Agumon
New Sun - Taichi (listen here - subbed)
Taichi singing to Daisuke (or maybe the whole new squad) about how they're taking over the original kids' legacy. The lyrics make him sound very wise.
Took me a second to adjust and picture Taichi singing this because his VA kinda sounds like a granny lol
This had very "Mufasa talking to Simba" vibes. The chorus was catchy and empowering.
Agumon Ondo - Agumon (listen here - subbed)
Agumon singing about how he needs/wants to eat a bunch to grow big and strong. Also, apparently he dances to help digestion lol.
Agumon talking to random kids during the song and then having them sing along was adorable. Also made me feel old.
Team - Taichi & Agumon duet (listen here + translation here)
A very generic song about how Agumon and Taichi make a great team, but it's always charming to hear digimon/partner duets.
Yamato & Gabumon
The Key to Granting Wishes - Yamato (listen here - subbed)
A cheesy shounen song about following your heart and friendship and what not. Comparing it to Yamato's image song from the first season, you can see he's grown past his emo, lone wolf phase.
Wasn't crazy about the song itself, but the music was great, especially the guitar solo. Had a nice bombastic intro too.
It's Alright - Gabumon (listen here & translation here)
Gabumon singing about his bond with Yamato. They both hide behind facades (Yamato's coolness, Gabumon's fur) and are misunderstood. I feel like this was a lot stronger as a character song than Yamato's solo song.
Gabumon's one of the quieter digimon so hearing him sing is a treat!
Our Melody - Yamato & Gabumon duet (listen here & translation here)
A touching (and CHEESY) ballad between Yamato and Gabumon about all the good times they've had together. It had strong drunken karaoke vibes haha.
Although cheesy, the lyrics did warm my heart a bit :') I think digimon/partner bonds get to me more than human/human bonds.
Koushiro & Tentomon
Open Mind - Koushiro (listen here - subbed)
Meh, not a fan of this one. I felt like the lyrics were clunky and didn't flow well with the song's melody.
The song is about Koushiro learning new things about himself and his emotions through his journey in the digital world. Even though I didn't like it, I'm happy to hear Koushiro's voice again :')
Dengeki Rhapsody - Tentomon (listen here - subbed)
Tentomon 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️ I love him so much. This song was really cute and plucky. Basically just Tentomon singing about being a good partner and appreciating Koushiro.
The only thing that bugged me (hehe) about this one is that it implied that Tentomon is always obsessing over food but like...I don't remember that ever happening?
The Scenery of the World! - Koushiro & Tentomon duet (listen here - subbed)
Another banger! Mostly just because I love these two and relate to Koushiro's passion so much. He's singing about how excited he is to absorb all of the world's knowledge and to see the whole world with Tentomon. Koushiro would make a good librarian haha. I too have strong urges to learn everything ever (currently reading every page of Wikipedia).
Tentomon's part of the song is kind of exasperated but in a loving way. He sings about how Koushiro is always staying up late glued to his computer, but that he'll still always stick by his side and pep him up when he gets tired. So wholesome <3
Joe & Gomamon
Towards the Wind - Joe (listen here - subbed)
A lot of these solo songs have the same, general theme about growing as a person. I wonder if the vibe will be different for the younger 02 kids?
I liked the mellow vibe of this song. A nice, easy listen. Joe definitely has the most mature vibes of the gang, despite being dweeby.
Invincible Flutter Kick - Gomamon (listen here - subbed)
Gomamon singing about how helpless Joe is and how he'll always be them to protect him and lighten his load. So cute :3
News to me that Gomamon has an "invincible flutter kick" lol. I mean, I can picture it, but usually he just summoned fish.
Crawl the Sky - Joe & Gomaon duet (listen here - subbed)
Joe and Gomamon singing about their unlikely friendship. They balance each other out. I kind of wish the chorus wasn't the usual, cheesy "we can do anything if we're together!" lines. The first part of the song was a little stronger when they were comparing each other's characters.
These songs are making me wish I had a little buddy to explore the world with :'(
Mimi & Palmon
Super☆Girl - Mimi (Listen here - subbed)
Mimi singing about her personal growth. It was a pretty generic, motivational song about being brave to be yourself and not fear mistakes.
I do really enjoy how unabashedly girly Mimi is and her songs always reflect that.
A Little Pinkie's Fantasy - Palmon (Listen here - subbed)
This one was just weird. The lyrics were super awkward. I think they're alluding to a pinky promise when Palmon talks about a "pinkie's fantasy," but the metaphor doesn't really work. Also the line about glittering lips also seems like a non-sequitur.
I've never been a huge Palmon fan, so I think that's mostly why this one was no good for me. (She's also a little tone deaf lol).
Happy Smile - Mimi & Palmon (Listen here - subbed)
It's nice to hear a song where Mimi and Palmon are talking about their friendship cuz Mimi could honestly be kinda nasty to Palmon in the anime lol.
Some of the lyrics in this were a little clunky (they basically said stuff like "fun things are fun!" "Smiling is nice!" "Pretty things are good!") but I liked the sentiments about distance not weakening their bond. That resonates with me as an adult who doesn't have many opportunities to see my friends in person.
Sora & Piyomon
Shiny Days - Sora (Listen here - subbed)
Uhhh I think mostly this one was just poorly translated because it was literally like a word salad. Like, read the lyrics here (or in the video subs) and you'll see they straight up make no sense --> https://www.animelyrics.com/anime/digi02/shinydays.htm
Sora is my least favorite Adventure character so it checks out that here song kinda sucks lol (sorry).
Wait this song has the same title as the Yuru Camp opening!
My Music Score - Piyomon (Listen here - subbed)
A nice straightforward song about Piyomon's love for Sora. I like how they incorporated her name into the song with all the "pipipi" and "piyo piyo." Very cute.
If We Fly Together - Sora & Piyomon (Listen here - subbed)
I feel like there was some nice harmonizing on this one. I hope the VAs had fun haha
The lyrics in this one were sweet. I especially liked this line about "telling each other secrets we hide from the stars." That really illustrates Sora and Piyomon's close bond.

Fandom Shipping Polls - Ken Ichijouji Shipping Analysis (Poll I + Poll II)
As pointed out in the main post, every single Chosen Child will get their individual analysis post to check on the status of the current popularity of their ships. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at Ken, shall we!
The overall results / spreadsheet
Disclaimer: As the “Someone from 01/02″ and “Others” options from poll 1 and the “Someone from 01/02″ option from poll 2 have been excluded from the final analysis due to redundancy reasons and all results were culminated in another “final count”, the results will not be 1:1 to what the polls look like:
Tumblr media
Overall votes: 148 (approx. 118 in sum after the exclusion), the main poll got 108 votes, the secondary poll got 40 votes.
The “Others” choice in the main poll received 4% (approx. 4 votes) and 5% (2 votes) in the secondary poll. The comments/tags did not specify any preferences here (aside from characters that were already part of the main choices).
Ship Analysis
1st place: With the biggest lead of all polls overall, Daisuke (61%) wins this vote with no real competition, as he had been in 1st place from the very beginning. Daiken is one of the most popular mlm Digimon ships on the planet - and for good reasons, as their anime portrayal provides for some very intense and intriguing mutual character development. Not only do they start off as “enemies” (with one of the parties unknowingly holding lots of the admiration for the other), but them turning into friends - and Jogress partners - is one of the most significant development fuels for both of them; nurturing each other’s (self) confidence while growing closer, developing great fondness, attachment and protectiveness for each other as they get more and more comfortable with themselves and in the other’s presence. It’s an endearing framing with a lot of heart, and with the additional anticipation of more news on the 02 movie, it’s really no surprise to see them being as prevalent and beloved in fandom as they are at the moment.
2nd place: With a huge gap to 1st place, Miyako (19%) comes in second, thus securing Kenyako’s spot as one of the few canonized endgame couples in the Adventure series. Thus, her popularity makes sense - with her starting off with a starstruck crush on Ken, then doubting her approach towards him during his redemption arc and reconsidering the whereabouts of her feelings, them slowly growing closer to understand each other is an endearing framing.
3rd place: This spot is a particularly tumblr’esque fan favourite - and even if Hikari received a comparably low amount of votes (5%) in comparison to the two fandom favourites, there is still a little group of dedicated Kenkari shippers in this space. Due to their portrayal as mirrors - Dark and Light - and their mutual connection to the Dark Ocean, they’re considered viable options when it comes to understanding one another’s struggles, finding hope and solace there.
Honorary mentions: Characters that got more than 1 vote include Ryo (4%) Takeru (3%), Koushiro (3%) and Yamato (2%), proving to be niche choices.
“The 1 vote squad”: As the majority of votes has been distributed among the choices mentioned above, there isn’t much left to be mentioned - so this spot is only reserved to the one-episode-only character Chichos (1%), who was shown to have a big crush on Ken.
“0 votes go to…”: Iori, Taichi, Sora, Mimi and Jou each received 0 votes - as for the four latter characters, this may be due to their lack of screentime/interaction in canon.
Annotations: N/A
What did the other polls say?
As mentioned, Ken won Daisuke’s poll (52%) with one of the biggest margins and came in second in Miyako’s (27%), thus mirroring his own results to a high degree.
However, he proved to be quite a niche choice for almost every other character he received votes for in the first place, such as Hikari (4%), Iori (3%), Takeru (2%), Taichi (2%), Yamato (1%), Koushiro (1%) and Mimi (1%). Even though in his own poll, Iori, Taichi and Mimi received 0 votes, Ken got singular votes in their respective polls.
Sora and Jou are the only characters he never got voted for, which was a mutual occurence.
Notable additions / comments / thoughts
Similarly to Hikari in 01, Ken has a built-in exposure bias in 02 due to the fact that he joined the team later on and had to go through a redemption arc first. Hence it isn’t a surprised that Daisuke got the highest scores overall, as he had been the most vital and most visible character in Ken’s personal development journey. One could almost call their relationship a legacy that has lasted throughout all these years and had always been going strong as a beloved mlm ship. Miyako and Hikari, while not having had as much of an impact and thus having received signficantly less votes, are still seen as viable choices due to their (either complementing or contrasting) personalities, potential (and, in one case, canonization).
Considering how Ken’s polls received the second most votes overall (coming in second after Taichi), it can be assumed that those choices mentioned above can be considered to be the most viable options in fandom. As for the others - thanks to the aforementioned lack of (screen)time he shared, especially with the majority of the 01 cast, it’s no surprise that those received no or very niche attention (with Yamato and Koushiro basically being the only exceptions, as they have had the chance to interact with Ken in familiar and friendly ways). Takeru and Iori, as fellow 02 group members, were seen as less viable as well - probably due to the idea that they took significantly longer to warm up to Ken in the end, despite their relationships improving in the end. Ryo also has to be mentioned, as he may not be known as having been a companion of Ken, and thus only very few (namely the 5 people who voted for him) may see him as a valid choice.
The comments in the tags have only referred to the already mentioned choices. So the “Others” option did not reveal any other potentially preferred suitors. This leaves room for speculation, but usually, the option is reserved for OC ships, for when people prefer to not ship a character at all or when they’re considered asexual (which will definitely be a future option to include as well!). Thus, I really hope to reach a wider audience if I choose to repeat the polls once the fandom is not as quiet as it is right now.

For the character ask game - Haru (appmon) 1, 2, 11, 12, 23!
HAAAAAAAARU! THANK YOUUUUU~! <3
The character ask game is here!
1. My first impression of them
Honestly my first impression (from seeing promo images and such posted on this very website!) was something like “Whoa. Clashing colors much?!” So I guess you could say it was not the best 😂
Obviously I got over that, but I did learn recently that trying to apply his color scheme to any other character is still quite a shock! ROTFL Click for proof if you dare!
The rest is cut! For! Spoilers!!!
2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like)
The first time I watched Appmon, I felt like basically the whole first half of the series was a bit of a crapshoot, quality-wise (not in terms of the animation or anything, but how I felt about it). Like, if you tried to graph my enjoyment of each episode right after I watched it, it would look like a jagged mountain range. The first episode was ok, the second episode was “eh,” the third and fourth episodes was pretty good, the fifth was back to “eh,” etc. I don’t know, pacing and tone and kind of unsympathetic character introductions and it just being “different” were all things that were working against it at that point in my mind, and made me wonder what the writers were really trying to do (honestly, what REALLY sold me on watching Appmon at all was @firstagent’s pitch at a con, which explicitly plugged Offmon and Yuujin’s dynamic!).
(I should say here that despite those rough beginnings, Appmon is probably my favorite Digimon series now, so yeah I take time to warm up to things sometimes but the right combination of factors makes me fall and fall HARD)
All that said, I know exactly when I really start to like Haru, and it was during the third episode (the dungeon one with Roleplaymon). He’s just so excited and happy throughout, while also being a complete nerd, and instead of a big Appmon fight at the end (well, being unable to have one due to an evolution whoopsie), he just talks to Roleplaymon… and it works. That felt kind of revolutionary, and it was the episode that I started to not only understand his character, but (maybe) gain a bigger picture view of the series and what the show was going for. This episode just crystallized a lot of things for me.
Me after episode 3: Haru is kind. Oh, and also he’s my son now, I want to see him grow up strong, I WILL keep watching FOR HIM actually (best decision ever!!) 💖
Tumblr media
11. What’s the first thing you think about when thinking about the character?
Joke answer: “Do I need to be working on the blog queue right now, or can I procrastinate a few more days?” 🤔
Real answer: No thoughts anymore, just feelings (rotfl). After watching every episode in order to look at every single shot of Haru and find the very best frames, I can still say definitively that he’s so cute and I love him and all Harus are good Harus 🥺🥺🥺
12. Sexuality hc!
Bisexual! And uh… one specific android-sexual? You cannot deny his crush on Ai, and Haru/Yuujin is so good. They’re one of my OTPs, they’re soulmates (by some definition of the word “soul”), they were made for (and made by) each other, they’re actually making eyes at each other from across the room in my head right now 🤫
23. Future headcanon
Oh, he’s definitely going to be an AI researcher, that much I believe! One who is very literature- and ethics-minded, and thinks a lot about what what “existence” means, and is hyper-aware of beings’ rights and the need to advocate for both humans AND AI, in a world where both appmon and general artificial intelligences actually exist. These beliefs are the cornerstone of his work, regardless of what he actually does with AI. Would he follow in his Grandpa’s footsteps in being an academic designing his own? Maybe borrow a page from Koushiro Izumi’s book and start a company? Or go the Susan Calvin route and become an AI psychologist? Any! All! Idk 🤣
Honestly, so much else about specific future headcanons depends on how you interpret the very last moments of the series (literal or symbolic), and for me it could go either way. I really like interpreting it as literal, if only because it’s such a great hook into the nebulous Appmon Season 2 that exists in my head. Yuujin’s back, but how? Cue mystery and more Appmon shenanigans.
Regardless, I’m most interested in the future where Yuujin comes back in some form at some point during Haru’s lifetime, and no matter how, when, or why that happens it’s going to be a joyous occasion, but also a bit of a rough transition. Yuujin may have changed. Haru may have changed. There would be a LOT anxiety about “is this ok?” and “how do you feel?” and “what does it MEAN that this is how you feel?” and “what does ANY of this mean for us as individuals, and us together?” because it’s all very complicated when you bring the android that was programmed to be your best friend and your ideal version of a person back to life. Is there even a happy ending out there for them? Again, for me it could go either way.
So yeah, a bit rambly, because to me there is no one answer I could ever 100% decide on. They’re all possible. And that’s kind of the great thing about the vagueness of the ending! I will say I like drawing them in happy-ending mode best though, even though I would probably write their future in a way that involves more drama, because it’s way more interesting, and nothing in life is ever that easy (I’m rooting for them though!).
Again, thanks so much for the ask!!

IzzyIzumi Watches Sonic Prime 1~2
(under the 'read more')
{Yes, I relate DigiAdvs}
Sonic, about Tails: "MY GENIUS Friend..."
Me: Yeah that doesn't (still / to this day w/these series and both these charas) sound like Koushiro.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tails, using a 'tail' to hold up drink Tails sips on while typing:
Me: Yeah, that's not exactly like how Koushiro acts in every single tech-involved scene where Koushiro's on Koushiro's own w Oolong

Sonic: "So if this Genius hacker-slash-Loner thing doesn't work out--"
Me: Wow that doesn't sound relevant to Koushiro backstorys at all!!!

Tails: "I WAS [rEDACTED for Spoiler]!!!!"
Me: DEFINITELY not heavily implied in Novel!Koushiro's backstory among some other Notable Koushiro Backstory[s] details.

(Novel translations with credit to Onkei of Digital Scratch)
Tails, typing in multiple passwords and being denied at every turn in a ~Dramatic Moment~:
Me: That DEFINITELY didn't happen to Koushiro in Tri or Adventure at multiple points (looks at Mugendramon Arc)... it's almost like it's not a "plot point" or common "trope"---
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tails, using semi-sarcastic-implied tone, only slightly more "forward" speech or quips/quotes at various points even with Knuckles:
"I'M one of the GOOD GUYS."
Me: Koushiro's J.P.N formal speech things, aside, that's DEFINITELY still not Koushiro-dynamics when Koushiro counters Taichi's or Yamato's back-and-forth with quips, and is definitely only something that ever existed in the U.S. dub version, Among Elsewhe--

(I Can't Take The Canon!Koushiro-Discoursing Seriously Anymore You Guys)...
{This Is Not A "Bad Thing", But I Find It Interesting how one character is now overall heavily loved and another (ADOPTED CANONICALLY)'s J.P.N canon personlity still has to be actively defended to the fan base to this day...}

[fanfic] Open His Eyes
For all intents and purposes, Yamato hadn’t been in the hospital for about a week. At least not as a patient. But he’d not missed a single day when it came to visiting Taichi. There wasn’t any reason that he would miss a day. He came here once he’d cleared everything else off of his schedule for that day - which he did a fast as he could - and then he and Agumon and Gabumon spent the rest of the day sitting with Taichi.
Truth to tell, Taichi wasn’t a very good companion at the moment, but Yamato wasn’t expecting much from him. All he did was lay there underneath the snowy white sheet and blanket, his eyes closed, his visible injuries slowly mending. The doctors still assured everyone that he’d wake up sooner or later and there’d be no real, or at least limited, lasting damage.
Yamato believed them, if only because the alternative to doing so was to give up, and while his particular dominant trait might not have been Hope, he’d learned a lot from his brother.
The other Chosen visited as well. Not as often as he did, of course, but Daisuke and Ken showed up at least three times a week, and Hikari came by nearly as often as he did. Koushiro had a regular visiting schedule as well, while Jou came in twice a week - he cited actually knowing Taichi as barring him from helping to take care of him. Something about a conflict of interest. Mimi and Sora came in whenever they could, as did Iori and Miyako. Takeru dropped in enough to keep updated on the situation and to make sure Yamato didn’t forget to eat, and that Yamato kept in touch with their dad to be sure that he ate.
Yamato might be a full-grown adult living on his own - or with Taichi when all was as it should be - but if no one kept on eye on Ishida Hiroaki, he’d likely get so involved in his latest story that he forgot to eat or brush his hair and would end up passing out from hunger at some point. So Yamato kept an eye on him and on Taichi and that was that. At least his dad could answer him most of the time.
Yamato settled into his seat as he did every night. He’d already eaten; Takeru made him promise to do that, and make sure Agumon and Gabumon ate, before he went to the hospital at all. And it had to be something reasonably solid for all of them.
Sometimes Takeru could be as much of a mother hen as - a mother hen could be. But Yamato wasn’t going to put up a fuss about it. Not when he got to sit here and wait and wait and wait and he damned well might put Taichi back in the hospital once he got out when this was over with!
“Really?” The voice was low and creaky and raspy, and at first Yamato jerked his head to the door. He thought at first a nurse or a doctor had turned up, then realized a bit belatedly that one, no one was there, and two, he’d spoken out loud and not meant to.
Third, that Taichi’s eyes had cracked open and were somewhat blearily focused on him. Yamato stared, swallowing, searching for something that resembled a word and not finding anything.
Agumon found it for him, trying to throw himself on Taichi and not succeeding as Gabumon held him back. “Taichi! Taichi! Taichi!”
One pale hand reached upward as Taichi attempted to reach for his partner. Yamato shook his head, grasping for thoughts and managing to get hold of them this time.
“Took you long enough. I thought I was going to have to get a trombone and start playing it for you to wake up.”
He was already getting to his feet; the nurses would have to know about this, and the doctors. The only reason he’d been allowed to visit like he did was because of Agumon. The rules involving a Chosen and their partner still hadn’t been fully ironed out by hospital staff, but as long as a second human was in there with them, it seemed to be all right. At least for now.
Truth to tell, Yamato didn’t want to leave Taichi, even for a few seconds. He couldn’t shake the feeling that if he did, Taichi would slide back into that coma or worse. He refused to entertain thoughts about what ‘worse’ might be. He’d thought about ‘worst’ often enough since the accident and even more since he’d started visiting Taichi on a regular basis.
For now, though, he stuck his head out the door, spied one of the regular nurses coming down the hallway, and quickly beckoned to her. They’d get everything started to be sure that Taichi recovered safely.
Even as he did, he cast a few glances over his shoulder, and saw Taichi reaching out to brush his fingers against Agumon’s claws. Yamato smiled; he’d held Taichi’s hand as often as he could that same way. Not that it had been often; hospital rules didn’t allow it. But whenever the chance came, he did.
Can’t wait to do more than that. As much as it annoyed him, he’d have to wait until Taichi could be home for that. He rather looked forward to it - hoped with all of his heart that Taichi did as well.
From the way those warm brown eyes looked back at him, clarity and intelligence slowly seeping back into them, awareness of where he was and who Yamato was, along with a tiny hint of a smile touching onto Taichi’s lips, Yamato suspected that he did. But they could find out more about that later.
He tugged Agumon and Gabumon away as the nurse called for others and they all started working with Taichi, checking on his vitals and asking him questions, most of which Taichi seemed to know the answers to. If he’d forgotten anything, they weren’t asking questions that revealed it.
For now, the three of them just stayed in the hallway out of the way and waited until they could go back in. Yamato worked on getting everyone else notified that Taichi had - for however briefly it might turn out to be - woken up, and wasn’t surprised that the Yagamis were going to be heading over as soon as they could be. He might have to wait a while to see Taichi again.
He’d wait as long as he had to. And one day, the two of them would wake up together at home once again.
The End
Notes: Not the end of the series, but Taichi has at last woken up! What’s next? In time, you’ll see!

enlightenmonth 2022 (@koushirohikari) [day 25-28] go out/stay in in which, at some point of their relationship, they shared a netflix subscription together because they are the true introverts/homebodies (also, because koushiro just cannot detach himself from the screen even though it's his relax time). here are some movies/series they love to watch while staying in.
koushiro: time cannot be wasted on something that is not giving any new knowledge, so documentary it is. some of his favourites are the social dilemma (the title definitely doesn't reflect him, mind you) and elon musk's return to space. he watched stuff like arrival, knives out, and da vinci code series just because they played with his mind.
hikari: she admitted that she's just like any other girls... getting dreamy while watching chic flicks. even every christmas, she doesn't mind binge-watching those low-budget, cringe-storyline-but-they-kissed-in-the-end movies just for fun. since she's more on the mainstream line, she tries to keep up with the series that's on the trending/top 10; j-drama, k-drama, you name it. one of her favourites was start up because she got koushiro to watch with her every week. also, due to her job, she sometimes watched the kids' shows to follow the children's trend.
tentomon: huge fan of marie kondo after finishing the whole season in one day; he applied ALL of her suggestions to clean up the house and will get petty if someone messed up with his very-neat foldings. sometimes will watch food documentaries and then tells kae about a recipe that seems good to cook. just like his partner, also love documentaries, especially those about nature. david attenborough's were constantly on the list. also, sometimes joins hikari and tailmon to watch classic, old movies.
tailmon: she basically follows what hikari watches, but she loves animations! also, a bit like koushiro, she loves investigation/crime series. perhaps it's because she was once on a yagami household, she secretly loves to watch stand-up comedies just for fun. although rarely people subscribed to netflix to watch game shows/quizzes, she has the habit of having a friendly competition with tentomon to guess all the questions.
___
things they watch together: money heist, space sweepers, hometown cha-cha-cha, that blackpink documentary (koushiro loves it fyi), midnight diner, stranger things, queen's gambit.
also, tentomon is always the one who reminds koushiro and hikari to pay the subscription.

Michi (Mimi Tachikawa x Taichi Yagami) short fic for Michi Week/Michi Karaoke
Today we have the pleasure to sit with actress, writer, producer Mimi Tachikawa who became a star from her film, Princess Karaoke. The musical film was a critical darling and box office success. But what was it really like for Mimi, who went from an unknown to a big star?
Mimi Tachikawa: First, I’m not a star, really. I’m an actress, an artist, and a business woman. And...I’m engaged (shows her ring).
Mimi Tachikawa’s love life was interested by many. Her Princess Karaoke co-star singer Yamato Ishida was linked to her for several years, even to this day. Fans often paired them together and rumors had it they were a couple until Yamato was photographed with tennis star Sora Takenouchi. Press and tabloids never gave up on this story.
Mimi Tachikawa: Yamato is a talented singer but we never really got to know each other (shrugged). It was amazing how everything turned out well for the film. We got good chemistry on screen but that was it. There was never a relationship to begin with.
So Yamato and Mimi, or rather Mimato, was just a teenage dream or a fantasy made up by the tabloids. While many still linked her to Yamato, some linked her to Nobel prize winner Koushiro Izumi.
Mimi Tachikawa: Poor man...he is a genius and a family friend but nothing more. I would not want him to be linked to me. His poor life would’ve been destroyed by the tabloids.
The tabloid’s fantasy of Mimi x Yamato really took a toll on Mimi. She could’ve had a music career but decided not to pursue it.
Mimi Tachikawa: My voice closed up. Every time when it comes to singing, my voice closed up. I was scared...if I were to sing one note, then everyone will link me to Yamato, saying that I’m depressed or I desperately wants Yamato’s attention. None of it is true. I have to get treatment because once, I lost my voice altogether.
Dr. Jyou Kido was Mimi’s main support during her recovery.
Mimi Tachikawa: Jyou is a wonderful person. He’s very patient and caring. Not only he helped me found my voice, he also helped me to discover my real talents.
Instead of pursuing a music career, Mimi turned to television. She produced and starred her own television series. She now has her own Youtube channel where she promotes healthy eating and skincare.
Mimi Tachikawa: Having my Youtube channel enables me to interact with my fans. I learn something from them and they learn something from me.
But what about her love life?
Mimi Tachikawa: Once I was so afraid to get into a relationship because I was scared that the press and tabloids would drive him away. Whoever it is, tabloids would compare him to Yamato, saying things like I’m looking for Yamato 2. But when I met Taichi at a charity concert, it was like...wow.
Footballer Taichi Yagami and Mimi were seen together since his last football match. The two are now ready to tie the knot.
Mimi Tachikawa: Taichi is the one for me, and I just know it. This is my life and my choice.
And Mimi Tachikawa just leave it as that. She refused to give more details on her relationship with Taichi. However, the happiness on her face says it all.
Mimi Tachikawa: My life and happiness should be defined by none other than me, myself, and I - never by anyone else, whether I’m single or with someone. It’s my life.
Looks like Princess Karaoke is now a Queen who sings her own song!

Happy headcanon (belated) birthday! | Sora Takenouchi 21/03/1988
And I'm two weeks late, but hey, I celebrated this girls' birthday by writing for her for a full week long! However, she deserves a proper birthday gift since the 21st of March was fierce Aries-babe Sora's birthday regarding my Astrology headcanons.
As always, I used the tropes that fit Sora's big three (that are pure headcanon!) according to @earlgreymon's build your own story through Astrology post. I had to look up what a soulmate mark is, but I'm hooked now hehe
Also, I needed a little bit of Taiora in my life, so I made it Taichi x Sora. Aaaaand since it's April and April's theme for the Taiora 2022 year event hosted by @taioraworld is Hanami and everything sakura/cherry blossoms, I tried to put that into the drabble as well and I might be writing a second and third piece this month as a little series <3
Happy belated birthday to my Sora dear. To all of your readers: happy readings! :3
Part 1 (Koushiro) Match | Part 2 (Taichi) Not so unrequited | Part 3 (Takeru) Getting to know you
Genre: Fate in a coffee shop? Or like a romantic fire igniting... | AU setting: Coffee shop (Taurus Moon) | Tropes/prompt: Soulmate mark (Cancer Rising) | Wordcount: 949 | Rating: K+ | Characters: Sora Takenouchi & Taichi Yagami

Coffee for the soul
The first rays of the spring’s sun were slowly bursting through, signs of the cherry blossoms colored the trees in soft pink and white tones. A chilly spring breeze flooded the streets and with it a lot of people who came outside of their little homes to enjoy the shining sun and blue skies. And who could blame them after such a depressing winter?
Fortunately for Sora, on Friday afternoons, she had always find a reason to go for a walk after classes were over. Even in times of depressing winters.
Tanned skin.
She smiled to herself as she walked the streets she was so familiar with. In sight was the little coffee shop she loved so much and for yet unknown reasons she always found herself going there.
Some times she would meet her friends, other times she would go there to study. To read about flowers and designs, to doodle fresh inspiration, turning it into sketches of new patterns for clothing pieces. At rare times she brought her laptop to watch a series with a good cup of tea.
Today, however, she decided to bring nothing but herself. The spring breeze carrying her body to the place she wanted to be.
Toned legs.
An old school bell rang as Sora opened the door to the little coffee shop. Immediately the smell of freshly made coffee entered her nostrils. Even though she didn’t like the taste of coffee, the smell made her reminisce the times at her parental house with her dad. How she would sit on the ground, leaning against her father’s legs while he was drinking his coffee and telling her little made up fairy tales about princesses who wanted to play football instead of becoming a queen.
The good old times was what came to her mind first, but this little spot was a very close second. Sora also loved the people being and working here. The regular guests she was able to personally greet and the personnel that greeted her back as well.
Messy hair.
Sora smiled to herself, recognizing the faces and taking in all the details. Soon after she arrived at the register to place her usual order.
“Hi can I have—”
“A chai tea latte?” The guy behind the register finished for her as she took a bit too long. Sora nodded and smiled, a soft warmth creeping up her cheeks. “Alright, coming right up.”
She recognized this guy but didn’t know him all the same. It was always a strange interaction, yet it felt natural and… destined? She hadn’t figured out why yet, but she had never dared to look him in the eyes. But she saw him, watched him flashing that lopsided grin of his every time she placed her order.
Goofy smile.
“To-go today? It seems rather sunny outside and you strike me like a girl that needs to be amidst the other flowers,” he winked at her.
Other flowers? Was he flirting? Sora wasn’t sure, but she was flattered to say the least. The warmth that rose to her cheeks now turned into a visible shade of pink complimenting her expression. She swallowed first, then decided to respond to his question with a nod.
“Seems like I guessed you right then,” he said while working on her drink. With the machine doing its work, he turned around to grab a cup to-go for her, from his pocket he took a marker. “May I ask what name I can write down on the cup?”
“S-sora.”
“So Sora, huh? As in the sky? I was right about you belonging outside with the flowers, they do need bright skies like you.”
Sora giggled before biting her lip. Trying to calm down her beating heart, she looked at the guy’s hands writing down her name on the cup.
Gentle hands.
Her eyes drifted from his hands over his lower arm, slowly traveling to give her some time before meeting his eyes. But Sora’s eyes never made it to his face, stopping at a scar on his right elbow. It wasn’t a particular big one, the shape though was a very interesting one to her as it looked like a perfect semicircle.
“Ah, don’t worry,” he eventually said as he caught her staring at it intensely, “it’s just a little scar I got after I fell on my elbow. If I recall correctly, it was during a football match against another elementary school in the region and there was a girl who I collapsed with. I think she fell on her elbow too— actually, I think she had the same hair color as you do.”
Shared scar.
It was then that it hit her that she not only shared the same scar with this guy on the exact same elbow in the exact same form, but that it had actually happened at the exact same time. And she was sure she shared a connection with him.
Without any further thinking, her eyes shot up to finally meet his. The weird feeling of meeting an old friend struck her, just like little pieces of what could be flashed in front of her.
Deep brown eyes.
“Can—Will you— May I…” Sora stuttered, her face turning as red as cherries. She knew what she wanted to say, but she couldn’t get it out.
“I’d love to see the cherry blossoms with you,” the guy with the tanned skin, toned legs, messy hair, goofy smile, gentle hands, shared scar and deep brown eyes responded to her unsaid question, guessing it like they shared the same mind. Answering as if he knew exactly what her heart wanted.

★Fanfiction Writer’s Appreciation Day★
◎Currently reading:
⇢Smells like Teen Spirit by @zadien : Honestly there won’t be a time when I’m not reading this fic haha, I just LOVE the TyHil interactions in this one and I always keep going back to read them. But I also really enjoy the fact that there are so many characters which leads to rare dynamics and ships, and a lot of drama which is so entertaining to read. I always end up with a new perspective for the series characters whenever I read through this fic because it is just that rich in development.
⇢The Sinensis Affair by @earlgreymon: I just love the heartbroken character goes on a journey far from home trope, and this fic just has the perfect setting for this. I’m also a big fan of characters breaking out of the shell that the canon or fanon has assigned to them, and here we have bad boy Takeru which I adore and Koushiro and Hikari navigating their lives far away from home and familiarity. Also the traditional proverbs and the superstition easter eggs that are scattered through the fic which keeps you on the edge the entire team you’re reading.
Looking forward to reading soon:
★ Whatever @mimatosstuff has in store for us for Mimato Week, but especially the Gossip Girl x Mimato content that is guaranteed to be the best thing I read this week!
Recommendation from recent reads:
✿Mayblade TyHil Collection by @velox-the-knight - just some really cute and fluffy TyHil oneshots that made me squeal.
✿Just a Moment by @azikarue - another collection that came from Mayblade, this is a diverse set of oneshots featuring a lot of characters and so well written, my favourites are of course the TyHil and RaySal chapters ❤️
✿Literally EVERYTHING @likeevalikeeve has written for Mimato so far, but especially the 13 going on 30 au.
Eternally reading until the end of time:
❤︎ Teacher’s Revenge and Loose Lips by @redwheeler - these fics are like my TyHil bible, I have to keep reading them every few months to feel alive. Call me crazy but I can actually recite dialogues from these two fics and I’m so grateful that they were written.
❤︎ Phantom by PinkFalcon - this fic has been incomplete for years but that doesn’t stop me from re-reading it because it’s just that good and a pokeshipping dream come true for me. I think I’ve rec’d this fic a billion times already but here it is again.
❤︎ Senior Year by Bittersweet Romanticide - The only HS X Anipoke fic that I still truly adore, Misty’s characterisation in this fic was truly a gem and I always go back to read this one when I’m seriously feeling low on Misty Motivation.
And a huge shoutout to all other writers in my circle, thank you for all the effort you put into writing and sharing your stories with us - @darkened-storm @ceruleanmusings @snorlaxlovesme @scripturienss @rainbow-pearls @misdre @kuroinana @dutchforstrangers ❤️

Digimon Adventure 02 (Blind Watch) - Episode 17
Wait...I literally just remembered that the parents (plus a bunch of other people) saw all the digital world stuff by the final episode of season 1. What exactly is the IRL awareness of digimon?? The kids have to hide that they're going to the digital world from their parents, but maybe that's more because it's dangerous? Or was there some memory wipe thing I'm forgetting about. (This ramble triggered by a line in the dub where Matt says "Don't tell me Myotismon destroyed the studio again!?" to his dad...)
Anyway, putting my confusion aside, I really enjoyed this one. It had the good kind of callbacks instead of some cheap repeats. It was especially nice to see the S1 kids finally sit down with the new kids and tell their story. Probably should have done that already by now, but better late than never!
There was...no battle in this one?? Wild...
Notes:
-I think the movie director in the beginning of the episode had the same VA as Joe. Low key distracting.
-I liked the concept of not just a ghost being caught on camera, but a ghost that changes its movements every time you play the video back. Not sure I've seen that done before...
-Very heartwarming that they've turned Aug. 1st into a special day of remembrance amongst their friend group. I've seen fans making posts about the date before and maybe I'll start celebrating it too! (I'm an August baby so it feels extra special).
-Aside from Bakemon who doesn't count, I guess this is our first ghost digimon? Really unfair that Wizarmon didn't get to be reincarnated like everyone else :'( I wonder if we'll see him again?
-I sighed a small sigh of relief when we got hat!Mimi back. More importantly, her ridiculous pink/starry hair is gone! I hope this isn't just a temporary change. She looks really cute with pig tails
-Didn't really think about the difference between living with a single dad vs. a single mom until Takeru and Yamato had a discussion about it. Is every single mom in this series a homemaker...? (Nothing wrong with that, but it would be awkward if there wasn't at least one mom with a job).
-They censored the curry in the dub lol. American kids in the early 2000s didn't know what curry was I guess
-This episode featured a bunch of MD players to the point where it felt suspiciously like an ad. I had to google what an MD was and it's a mini-disc (like GameCube game sized). Of course, they just called it a "CD player" in the dub
-Dead at the dub line "Don't mind him dad, he's just not a happy little buffalo!" LOL (American kids also don't know what sutras are apparently)
-They addressed a question I had in my earlier post about how they were stuck using the computer lab to enter the digi-world. Koushiro finally figured out that they could connect from any computer and that the D3 device was more important. (Honestly, they should have thought of this sooner, but I guess everyone's busy with school lol).
-It felt kind of weird to me how Wizarmon was showing up on TV to get Tailmon's attention, but we never really see the kids watching TV or catching any of these appearances. They kinda just stumble across him instead because Tailmon's Wizarmon's senses start tingling. Oh well, all's well that ends well...
-Very rare episode where there's no battle and the digimon only evolve to their rookie forms. I feel like this shows that the writers trusted the kids enough to sit through an episode without all the usual stuff, so that's nice.
-I'm going to go ahead and qualify this as a Halloween episode because ooky spooky
-Wizarmon continues Gennai's tradition of giving super vague and unhelpful information. Thanks for nothing! (I guess he was mainly hinting that Ken is a victim of "the darkness." Okay, Kingdom Hearts...)
-Sad Tailmon tho ;-;

Taishiro for 002 and Koushiro Izumi for 003
Alriiiiiight, I know I'm super predictable here, huh? 002 | Taishirou
When I started shipping them: I actually don't remember when exactly it started, but they haven't been my first Digimon ship, that's for sure. I think I maaaay have started shipping them in my later teens, upon watching the OG 01 in Japanese for the first time and couldn't unsee it anymore, though I obviously hadn't been as invested in them at the time.
My thoughts: Oooof, where do I even begin, I mean, I have probably written at least twenty meta posts about them so far, since I simply cannot shut up about how much I adore this dynamic. They go so much further than the tropes they're initially based on make you believe - it's not just brawns/brains, introverted extrovert/extroverted introvert, best friends to lovers and so on... It's also the unconditional trust and support, the way they complement and (potentially) get the best out of each other, thinking so incredibly highly of each other (without being fully able to convey that properly, which leads to a lot of frustration on my behalf, but more on that later down the line). Heck, there might even be some kind of starcrossed theme going on between them even without taking reincarnation theory into account. You just... Have the one who probably would never have gotten out of his shell as easily as he eventually did without the other, supporting him in every way he can... And the other one who actually manages to let his guard down towards him once trauma hits. They just make me go soft and I wouldn't want it any other way.
What makes me happy about them: Lots of things, actually, but mainly the complementing aspect I mentioned above, turning them into partners in crime. Plus, all the times they invade each other's personal space without even noticing or caring. The way they can affect each other in ways others can't do - even if it sometimes takes a loooot of fanfiction to elaborate on that.
What makes me sad about them: Apart from the fact that they're both nuts? That they actually don't realize how good they are for each other. And that opening up towards each other more would do both of them good. It's an ongoing theme, Koushirou basically begs Taichi to be honest with and rely on him - and you can bet, the boy would get a lot of weight off his shoulders if he finally opened up towards Taichi himself. It's frustrating. Especially when you take the subtext of them growing somewhat apart in certain parts of the series, when there are other parts that basically make them look married... Like, you know Koushirou would go to hell and back for Taichi and Taichi, on the flipside, would always sacrifice himself in order not to let the people most precious to him get hurt. So... Please talk to each other for once.
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: The cheating AND the toxic/misogynist seme/uke portrayal. Yes, Koushirou is shorter and more slender than Taichi, yes, I have written entire meta posts about him having a lot of traits that may make him more effeminate at times and I enjoy seeing him turn into a blushing, stuttering mess as much as everyone else, but he's not a helpless, passive wallflower.
Things I look for in fanfic: All the cheese. All the pining. Give me a hundred chapters of them being too stupid to realize their feelings - or actually knowing about them but being too stupid to act on them. I need my happy ends though. Give me all the mutual healing. Them actually TALKING to each other. All the softness, please. Show me how they’d die for each other in all the different timelines.
My wishlist: 1.) An Our War Game sequel with them as adults, actually portraying them as still being friends/becoming close friends again (bonus points for Koushirou talking about his adoption to Taichi) 2.) Similarly to 1, a sequel post epilogue that shows them working together, because, dude their careers are 100% compatible, come on. I don't need confirmation on them being together/married/whatever, I just want to see them maintaining their bond. 3.) A reboot sequel in which they continue being partners in crime like they're supposed to be.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Oh, that's easy, my favourite second choice for Taichi will always be Sora, and my second favourite choice for Koushirou will always be Hikari. Team Light until the very end. I'll also always root for a poly Taikoura relationship, but shhh.
My happily ever after for them: If I was able to spin the wishlist further, I'd love to see them working together to ensure a symbiosis between the real and the Digital World, while also living and raising their two kids together. Domestic bliss after they've managed to talk to each other and work on their traumas together. Domestic bliss, man.
003 | Koushirou Izumi
How I feel about this character: Again, where do I even begin without writing the 7362728th novel about why I love and adore this boy so much? He has been my first favourite Digimon character ever when I was 9 years old - and now, more than twenty years later, I find myself coming back to him becoming my current comfort character. I love and adore how layered he is; people are quick to just call him a "nerd" and "infodump boy", but he is so much more than that, being a hands-on problem and riddle solver that would go to hell and back for the people he cares about, despite getting lost in the things he researches about to the point of neglecting his own needs while trying not to think about the trauma that has haunted him for years, not having known who he is, where he comes from, unsure how to approach and understand others and himself... But eventually, he is a very kind, very emotional kid who loves his family, partner and friends, who enjoys to teach and ramble, supporting wherever, however and whenever he can, a mentor and connecter. He has his issues and problems, but he's always trying his best. Yes, I may project onto him a lot at times, but that also shows me what a great job the writers did in making him human.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: As mentioned above, Taichi will always be the one for him in my eyes, the absolute Digimon OTP. Second choice, as implied, is Hikari, hands down. (Honorary mention goes to Sora - I have grown very fond of platonic!Koura, but romantic!Koura has become quite exciting to me as well - and, drum roll, Menoa. I could definitely see this becoming a thing and I'm weirdly intrigued by it, even if I rather enjoy than actually ship it.)
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: All of Team Light is absolutely delightful on a platonic level, so Taichi (best friends for life, work partners in crime), Sora (fashion buddy) and Hikari (research/photography buddy) being his closest friends will always be wonderful to me - even if canon makes it hard to maintain that sometimes. And while it really feels like he will become more of a background supporter, mainly talking to the majority of the cast through electronic devices, I actually enjoy all (potential) bonds he has with the other characters; Platonic!Koumi for example is absolutely amazing in my eyes (internet buddies), him and Yamato have actually been implied to have grown rather close in Kizuna (and the PSP game also hints at them being very compatible). Jyou and Takeru tried very hard to get through to him in Tri, so that makes me believe that they're having quite the connection as well. Him and Miyako hacking the entire world is always a fun concept, Iori will still see him as a great mentor and I reeeeally wish we would have seen more of him and Ken being amazing geniuses together.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't like the extreme nerd/geek stereotype people assign to him - he obviously can be one, but people writing him to be absolutely incapable of social interaction while being a horny idiot might be something I have to blame Tri for. And I absolutely dislike the tendency in fandom to give him the shortest end of the stick in friend/ship groups. Not sure if that's an unpopular opinion though?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wanted to see him talk to anybody about his adoption that wasn't Tentomon. Tri absolutely tried to make the others get through to him, but he literally didn't let them. It was his goal to get closer to others, become less formal at the end of 01 - and 02 did a great job at portraying him as mentor and teacher to others. But in the end, Tentomon has always been the only one who sees him breaking down. So in case the Kizuna scenario will happen to him as well one day - who's gonna catch him then? I absolutely don't want that for him, but heck, let him cry in front of his friends once, please.
Favorite friendship for this character: Still Taichi, but all of what I've written above about the other Chosen Children applies!
My crossover ship: I actually can't think of one right now, even though I'm pretty sure once you mention one or another character from another fandom, I might go "Ooooh, that could be interesting!"

Being the face of Adventure and arguably the rest of the franchise, Taichi has the honor of being an important figure in the realm of shounen anime overall, which has the unfortunate side effect of very often being described with things that don’t actually match him at all -- the way people often talk about him (especially mainstream press) tends to portray him like a stereotypical shounen hero who charges aggressively into everything and is hot-blooded all of the time. That’s not...quite on the mark.
I think “impulsive” is certainly a correct way to describe him, but in a very different way than one might think -- and, in fact, Taichi is much more of a multifaceted character than he’s often pigeonholed as. How? Well, let’s talk about it!
Taichi in Adventure
Tumblr media
The main reason it’s probably incorrect to call Taichi “hot-blooded” by nature is that, in actuality, he is far more often too chill than otherwise. It’s not that he aggressively charges into everything without any rhyme or reason! Rather, it’s more like he takes everything very easily and has a “don’t worry about it!” attitude.
In fact, I think our friend the Animation Chronicle explains it better than I can:
If he doesn’t know/understand something, he acts while he tries to figure it out...
So in other words, rather than our conventional version of “being impulsive” meaning beelining to the most aggressive possible action, rather, it’s more like “the first thing that pops into his head” -- even if it’s a fairly easygoing or relatively harmless-seeming solution, he just goes for it because it sounds like it’ll work and he doesn’t see any reason why not.
That said, it’s also made abundantly clear by multiple sources that his ideas do come with some kind of consideration:
From the Animation Chronicle: “He appears to move with reckless abandon, but he actually does take in his surroundings and he takes good care of his juniors in the soccer club.”
From the Adventure novels: “Taichi treated everyone without discrimination, as equals. That attitude of his didn’t change, even towards Koushiro. If Taichi hadn’t invited him, Koushiro was sure that he would have never gone to summer camp.”
Sora and Koushirou even back this up personally in Adventure episode 16, when Koushirou points out that Taichi had always been kind to his juniors, and Sora recalls an incident when he’d foregone an opportunity to score a goal because he’d known Sora was more likely to pull it off successfully.
So in other words, Taichi is, fundamentally speaking, not someone who does things for personal glory, but does want to work for other people’s sake. It’s just that, in trying to carry that out, he has a tendency to default to the first thing that pops into his head. Or in other words, Taichi’s primary way of thinking is “act first and figure out the details later” -- and this has both good and bad things about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Firstly, the fact that Taichi has such an “action-first” philosophy means that he’s capable of acting very practically in situations when others would freeze up. A very good example of this is Adventure episode 21; after angsting for half an episode considering quitting the fighting and enjoying his life at home, the moment he realizes that everyone else will be in danger if he leaves everyone be, he immediately instinctively steps in to help everyone. It’s not necessarily that Taichi doesn’t feel the stress or danger of fighting; it’s just that when he sees the practical impact of people he cares about getting hurt in front of him, all bets are off, because he needs to help people now.
The second thing is that, as Koushirou points out, he’s very kind to his juniors, and people in general -- he doesn’t really pay much mind to things like seniority, and is more concerned about treating everyone in accordance to their practical capabilities. This means that he’s someone who has a certain sense of charisma, especially since he’s appreciative of people’s abilities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is best indicated in Adventure episode 28, when two important things about Taichi are brought to the forefront:
Taichi’s natural charisma and ability to appeal to people makes him someone good at “bringing people together” -- indicated by the fact that the group hadn’t taken long to completely fall apart after he’d momentarily departed in Adventure episode 20, but came back together after he’d rallied them. The Adventure kids, coming from rather different social circles and backgrounds, were not originally the type to stay together or be particularly tight with each other by default, and so, during the first half of the series when they still had ways to go in terms of having any kind of meaningful bond with each other, they were unconsciously dependent on the charismatic Taichi to keep them together.
Taichi is a “natural leader” in every sense -- “leader” meaning not only someone who pushes people forward, but also someone who recognizes others’ abilities and is willing to delegate rather than trying to do everything by himself. This was briefly demonstrated in Sora’s Adventure episode 16 flashback when she remembers that Taichi willingly gave up the opportunity for a goal when he understood she could do it better (it’s reflected in his soccer position, too), but also here in Adventure episode 28, he gives the task of solving the card puzzle to Koushirou because he (correctly) determines that Koushirou, not himself, is best equipped to do the job. Also note that the episode makes clear that everyone agrees to it specifically because Taichi appointed him to the position -- much like how “understanding everyone’s abilities and delegating properly” is an important and necessary skill for a leader, everyone trusts Taichi to make that decision, and therefore trusts in Koushirou because he was appointed by said well-informed decision.
So those are the good things about him. What about the drawbacks?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first is that Taichi is, unfortunately, a little emotionally insensitive. He doesn’t mean badly, of course -- you can’t deny that his penchant for teasing or trolling people makes him quite a fun person to be around -- but he tends to lack a bit of emotional insight and is prone to crossing the line with his remarks. Again, this is a symptom of him being too chill about things at times; he tends to react with “what’s the big deal?!” -- a statement that one should absolutely not say when arguing with someone, and which tends to get Taichi in hot water, especially with Yamato.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While the trope of “the shounen hero and the cool rival often having friction” is quite common in anime like this, Adventure’s play on it is actually quite different from how it would usually be played elsewhere. In most other shounen anime, this kind of relationship would have to do with something like the hot-blooded protagonist wanting to charge in and the cool-headed person wanting to be more “rational” about it, but in Adventure, Taichi and Yamato are pit against each other due to reasons that have to do with emotions. Yamato, contrary to what his character archetype might suggest, is someone who’s openly passionate and emotional, and is also someone who goes out of his way to care about others and their welfare -- so he often gets into fights with Taichi because he perceives Taichi to be insensitive and not putting sufficient thought into the others.
Yamato’s reactions are certainly extreme -- Adventure episodes 9 very clearly depicts him as the one losing control of his emotions and escalating the argument with Taichi to a full-on fight, whereas Taichi wanted him to calm down -- but he’s not fundamentally wrong in that this is an aspect Taichi needs to improve about, because it is true that Taichi tends to take the first suggestion of “what’ll get something done” that pops into his head, but also has a problem of vastly underestimating how dangerous things might be.
Again -- and this is very important to stress -- it’s not that he doesn’t care about others, and it’s not that he’s unaware of the dangers around him or the potential for repercussions! As Sora says in Adventure episode 16, he is conscientious of his surroundings and aware of potential risks. He has always put thought into his actions, and he doesn’t just charge into things with no rhyme or reason. He just has an abysmally poor sense of judgment, because he’s so naturally chill that he thinks “it’ll be fine, don’t worry!” -- and thus starts stubbornly locking down on what he wants to do because he’s so sure it’ll be fine and that everyone (usually Yamato) is overreacting.
If you want a specific example about Taichi’s tendency to misjudge: in Adventure episode 9, Taichi and Yamato get in a fight when Yamato perceives Taichi as too insensitive about Takeru’s potential welfare, which weirds Taichi out because Yamato’s being awfully overprotective. On its face, it might seem hypocritical because we later find out in Adventure episode 48 that Taichi is just as overprotective of his own sister, but it’s important to note that in the relevant episode, Taichi states that he has to go out of his way because Hikari continually fails to vocalize whenever she’s hurt or in pain. This implies that Taichi sees Takeru as someone who’s clearly capable of taking care of himself because he expresses himself better (and thus, Taichi doesn’t understand why Yamato has to go out of his way for him). Indeed, Takeru ends up latching onto Taichi because he sees him as treating him with the independence that Yamato won’t -- but Takeru has his own very deep-seated emotional issues that he just happens to be very good at hiding, and while Taichi is certainly always looking out for Takeru, he never seemed to have become aware of this problem.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This difficulty in judgment leads into a certain pattern of behavior that Taichi exhibits that only comes up in very specific situations, but is so consistently depicted that it’s basically an inherent trait of his: what I call the “Yagami Taichi stress response”.
Taichi is the kind of selfless person who prioritizes others’ welfare over himself, and there are times when it will often fall into almost self-destructive levels. (This is a trait he actually shares with his sister, although the two of them naturally deal with it in very different ways.) His first priority is “helping everyone”, and especially “helping anyone who’s in trouble” (especially when it’s happening right in front of him). Which means that whenever he feels that others are depending on him for something, he ends up often taking too much responsibility for everyone’s welfare, and starts cracking under the pressure.
Because Taichi is the kind of person who prioritizes “action first” and figuring things out as they go along, this means that his reaction to stress is basically becoming a completely unfocused mess. Or, in other words, he lets the thought of but we have to do something!! completely consume his head, methodology be damned, and he starts panicking and doing everything in every which way to get it done, to the point he starts lashing out at others or becoming an emotional wreck because of the stress. The first time we see this is Adventure episode 16, where, being the only one with a working Crest and feeling that he and Agumon have the responsibility of protecting everyone, starts pushing himself and Agumon to carry everyone’s burdens, resulting in everything going wrong and the dark evolution to SkullGreymon at the end of the episode.
Again: It’s important to remember that, even at his “worst”, Taichi’s main priority is helping and protecting others, which means that his way of responding to that stress is basically determining that he’ll take all of the responsibility onto himself. That involves things like forcing himself to “work harder for everyone’s sake”, or becoming dangerously self-sacrificial, or at least allowing himself to become an emotional wreck because as much as he knows better, his one strongest thought is always we have to do something!!
Tumblr media
Taichi exhibits more of this behavior in Adventure episodes 48 and 49, to the point he gets unusually aggressive with Koushirou (which is also explicitly pointed out as him not acting like his usual self) once he starts panicking about Hikari’s welfare. Again, note that all of this stems from we have to do something!! -- he basically starts panicking because despite Koushirou clearly doing the best he can, once things start going south, it’s just not enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, speaking of things going south: because Taichi often misjudges situations, whenever things go wrong, he takes it badly. This is someone whose first course of action is to “act first and work it out as we go along,” but the number one thing he can’t stand is seeing other people get hurt, and so when other people do get hurt because of the consequences, Taichi shuts down -- for instance, when he learns that his ploy to attempt to get Greymon to evolve ended up hurting Koromon and everyone around him in Adventure episodes 16-17, and when his taking the Digital World too lightly (taking Koushirou’s explanation of it being “like a game world” at too much face value) ends up getting Sora in trouble and his own life in danger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which leads to a certain degree of irony: Taichi’s behavior isn’t normally out of solely recklessness -- mainly really poor judgment and a tendency to underestimate things -- but when he does slip up and start having to deal with consequences, he does become reckless. But because this recklessness is out of a desire to “not let anyone else get hurt”, it results in him being reckless specifically with his own welfare --  he’s the kind of person who “takes too much responsibility onto himself”, and his way of responding to the issues of “someone might get hurt” and “but we have to do something!!” means that he, by default, responds to everything with “okay, then I’ll be the one who gets hurt!” Or in other words, his solution to preventing other casualties while still doing something to help others involves becoming dangerously self-sacrificial. Because in the end, Taichi is the kind of person who hates seeing people being in trouble or hurt in front of him, and his instinct is to always protect people, no matter what.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, again: Taichi’s way of “action first” is not a fundamentally bad thing -- remember, Adventure episode 21 established very well that this trait of his is very good for bringing him out of his biggest bouts of hesitation, because he has a very practical understanding of the need to fight in order to prevent more casualties. This is especially because the final arc of Adventure deals heavily with the concept of “collateral damage”, or the question of how to handle fighting to save people, when people are inevitably hurt (or, in this case, dying) in the process.
Yamato accuses Taichi in Adventure episode 43 of not being conscientious enough about the friends they’ve lost in the process, but once Yamato succumbs to his resentment and personal beefs and starts selfishly picking a fight with Taichi in Adventure episode 44-45, Taichi indicates that he is keeping his fallen friends in mind -- it’s just that, to him, not continuing the fight is an insult to everything they’d died for (especially because, indeed, more people will get hurt if they don’t do something).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, ultimately, in Adventure episode 50, Taichi does conclude that Yamato, Jou, and Mimi are right about one thing: while he’s always been right about them needing to do something, they do at least need to be careful about how they go about it so that they don’t incur more sacrifices along the way. Fortunately, Taichi is a soccer captain and perfectly capable of quickly coming up with a suitable plan on the fly (he even cites it in this episode, and in fact had already demonstrated an ability to come up with tactics when necessary back in Adventure episode 20) -- it’s not that he’s never been able to do flexible thinking, it’s just that his natural tendency to be “too chill’ about things and overestimate the efficacy of the first thing that popped into his head was something he needed to learn to think through a little harder.
And so, the final episodes of Adventure indicate him finally starting to tap into his capacity for that -- thus truly becoming the definition of the Adventure group’s “leader”.
Taichi after Adventure
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We learn in Our War Game! that Taichi still has a bit of a way to go in terms of the “emotional sensitivity” part, most notably when Taichi starts getting defensive when he accidentally disrupts the computer connection, and Koushirou (most likely correctly) pinpoints this insensitivity as the likely reason he and Sora got into a nasty fight prior to the events of the movie. In fact, while Taichi already clearly had some shades of this in Adventure, when his “teasing” of others or stepping over their boundaries could sometimes go a little too far, it’s especially indicated here that Taichi is very, very bad at dispute resolution, because he keeps trying to deflect blame for his own actions and indirectly accuses Sora of being the irrational one in regards to their argument. (Again, for anyone entangled in a dispute with a friend: “dismissing the other person’s feelings” and going for the ad hominem, instead of at the very least acknowledging them in the process of making your point, is the number one worst way to handle this.)
Of course, Taichi wouldn’t have gotten this far if he didn’t have the natural charisma to compensate -- again, he’s fundamentally someone who cares about other people and attends to them. But, unfortunately, he’s still bad at knowing how to deal with other people’s emotions and learning to deal with them with proper empathy...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...So, in fact, it’s striking that the Taichi we initially meet in 02 is someone who, most of the time, seems to come off as very mature and put-together. The fact that he so willingly turned over his goggles to Daisuke at the beginning of the episode is a really huge deal, frankly -- even if you don’t subscribe to the theory that there’s any major sentimental backstory to it a la V-Tamer, that’s still an item he’s kept on him since he was a tiny child and clearly must have a huge amount of attachment to, yet he immediately handed it over to Daisuke the moment he felt Daisuke was worthy of it.
It’s actually quite a bit of a swerve for those of us used to the more “playful” Taichi who sometimes took things way too lightly, but it’s also important to realize that this is the Taichi that Daisuke and his friends see. This is especially in light of the fact that Daisuke starts off the series with a very severe inability to be assertive, so Taichi, who’s always been naturally assertive from the get-go (almost too much sometimes), is everything he is not, and therefore admires.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taichi is still Taichi, which means that he’s still subject to the Yagami Taichi stress response, and he gets very close to blowing up angrily at the others when they show up late. But unlike how he had a whole train of being rather out of control when emotionally compromised in Adventure episodes 48-49, he gets himself together fairly quickly and admits that he also didn’t want to force everyone to come if they didn’t want to (to the point where he had even thought about going alone with Hikari in the worst-case scenario -- again, note the tendency for self-sacrifice and putting responsibility on himself).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also see him about to lapse into it again at the end of the episode, when he freezes up because he’s not sure about what to do in regards to the potential of hurting Agumon in the process of getting him back -- but Yamato manages to get him back on his feet, rather literally, and with a punch to the face.
This punch tends to be really often misinterpreted as if violence is just a fact of life when it comes to Taichi and Yamato, but it is very, very important to understand the context behind this scene and how it differs from the two’s relationship in Adventure. Whenever the two fought back in Adventure, it would be a very vicious argument with the two genuinely angry at each other, and with Yamato accusing Taichi of being insensitive and thus becoming hostile and resentful towards him. In this scene, however, Yamato has become conscientious of Taichi’s own feelings and reasons for hesitating. This is evidenced by the fact he only does a single punch and holds out his hand to Taichi right after -- said punch was strictly meant as one meant to snap him back to reality, and Yamato holds out that hand knowing that Taichi will not take it as anger or resentment, but rather “I did this because you needed something to get you back into focus, I know you also know this and won’t take it as an insult, and I understand your feelings and want to help you.”
It’s important in establishing the level of deep trust Taichi and Yamato have where they understand each other’s positions now without fighting over it -- the two of them even point out in the next episode that the reason they can get away with this is because of how much worse they used to go through before, but now, the two of them treat each other with mutual sympathy, understanding, and support, and devoid of condescension whatsoever. And because of that, Taichi is able to “snap out” of his hesitation much more quickly than he would three years prior, because now he has Yamato’s emotional support, and Yamato even frames the situation in a way the “we have to do something!!” Taichi would understand: if they don’t do something, Agumon will continue to be the Kaiser’s slave destroying everything that he himself would never want to see destroyed, and even if they end up accidentally losing him in the process, it would arguably be a bigger mercy to him than it would to let him continue in this state. It’s all very practical reasoning that works best with Taichi’s way of thinking, and because of that, they’re able to push forward into the events of the next episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But just because he’s become more mature doesn’t mean he’s lost his characteristic charisma or ability to be playful or a tease -- after all, Taichi has always had a penchant for a bit of a smug personality, sometimes even bordering on the petulant. This especially comes out when he’s with Agumon, but, really, Taichi is a person who really likes fun.
Tumblr media
On another interesting note, however, Taichi sends Sora off in 02 episode 38 when he’s very heavily implied to have caught on that Sora is about to confess to Yamato, and pushes her on without giving her grief for it. Regardless of whether you subscribe to the theory that Taichi has his own unresolved feelings in the situation, the important part is that he understood that this was a grave enough situation for Sora that this did not merit teasing her or insensitively poking into her feelings on it -- in other words, it’s a huge contrast to Adventure episode 26 when he was clearly at a loss on how to deal with her when she was emotionally compromised, and Agumon and Gabumon commented that he wasn’t as mature as Yamato in dealing with this.
But now, Taichi is much more capable of showing actual empathy for others and understanding when it’s the time to hold back on the teasing or potential insensitivity, and for that, Agumon compliments him on the same maturity he’d failed to express three years prior.
Tumblr media
By the time we get to Kizuna, the fact that Taichi is one of the lead protagonists is for obvious meta reasons (he’s the protagonist of Adventure, after all), but it also makes sense that a movie centered around the millennial existential crisis -- and, specifically, the issue of career uncertainty -- would have him as a major player in it. Remembering that Taichi is fundamentally the kind of person who operates as “act first, deal with it later,” it makes perfect sense that the terrifying pressure of dealing with something as vague and uncertain as career pressure would be something that Taichi would continually put off. Again, Taichi is a very practical-minded person who usually works best with things that are clearly happening in front of him, so “wide-ranging” things are things he plays badly with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite Taichi being very clearly depicted as “out of it” for this movie, at the very least, certain fundamental personality traits of his haven’t gone away -- for one, he’s still one of the most expressive characters in the movie (to the point many a fan has commented on his jackpot of facial expressions) in terms of petulance, sometimes getting a little defensive, and driving poor Koushirou a little nuts with his tendency to be reckless with electronics. He also gets a bit cocky during the battle with Eosmon, which, again, tracks with his tendency to do that every so often (and to be fair to him, everyone was guilty of severely underestimating Eosmon at the time, so it’s not like this was a major miscalculation on Taichi’s part).
Moreover, much like in 02, Taichi and Yamato are understanding of each other’s feelings to the extent that Yamato is the first person Taichi calls to dump his feelings about his existential crisis over. Even though they’re still prone to some mild bickering at the beginning of the movie, they immediately go back on high-fiving terms right after, so it’s a very far cry from the time back in Adventure when Yamato would look down on Taichi for being insensitive.
Tumblr media
But here, we have this one line that basically represents the source of all of the problems Taichi ends up going through in this movie, including the reason for his loss of Agumon: Taichi is trying to “force” himself to become an independent person, and in the process is pushing Agumon away, and, on a more metaphorical level, his own self.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taichi moved out of his parents’ house under the pretense of not burdening his family, but Hikari’s comment about their mother wanting him to drop by indicates that it’s not likely they necessarily wanted him to move out -- and despite that, Taichi is miserable in his daily routine of walking back and forth from school and working at a part-time job and eating convenience store food. He’s clearly lonely, yet he won’t allow Agumon into his room (it’s stated that his visit midway into the movie is his first time here). He keeps his old goggles and Digivice, yet he shuts it in a drawer and only opens the drawer to stare at it from time to time, and when Agumon finally does visit and finds his AVs, Taichi freaks out and pins it as an “adult thing” before he finds himself in the awkward situation of basically gatekeeping his own partner with a societal standard he doesn’t even understand.
I should point out that the AVs are not strictly porn, if you want to be really technical about it; it’s “gravure” videos, involving a cosplayer dressing up in sexy/high-exposure outfits and striking suggestive poses, but it’s not actually explicit porn. Moreover, a toned-down version of this scene exists in the Shueisha Mirai version of the novel, where the issue is not about AVs but rather the fact that Taichi only has alcohol in his fridge -- absolutely nothing non-alcoholic, despite how impractical this is -- because “[he’s] an adult, after all.” So the point of this scene is that Taichi’s being performative, or in other words trying to do Adult Things because That’s What Adults Do. And since a Digimon partner is representative of the inner self, and especially established in 02 to have relevance to one’s “less dignified and more childish dreams”, Taichi looking down on Agumon, i.e. looking down on himself, becomes the reason why he ends up losing him at the end of this movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As things get worse for Taichi and the crisis escalates, we actually get another glimpse of the Yagami Taichi stress response -- Yamato confronts him on whether he’s okay with going in to save all of the Eosmon victims despite knowing what’ll happen to their partners. Taichi, frantically (Hanae Natsuki’s voice acting really sells it here), has an emotional outburst and professes that, no, of course he’s not, but, again: they have to do something!! Because in the end, Taichi is a selfless person who understands that bad things are happening to people now, and the important thing is saving them now and dealing with the consequences once that’s done with, and even Yamato admits that, as much as he hates it, this is the correct answer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taichi does, unfortunately, lose Agumon at the end of the movie, but there are multiple indications he’s already on his way to getting him back, given that Taichi’s starting to address all of the problems he was neck deep in at the start of the movie. In the middle of the movie, after having shut his goggles in the drawer all of this time and only pulling it out whenever he was depressed, he decides to embrace the courage they initially symbolized and puts them back on his neck, and when we reach the climax of the movie, he uses Hikari’s old whistle to wake everyone up. This needs to be distinguished from all of the “nostalgia” everyone else had been drowning themselves in by looping themselves eternally in old memories from a desire to never move on from them; symbolically speaking, Taichi’s blowing of the whistle represents acknowledging the important things in your past, and making productive use of them to move onto the future, rather than the unhealthy reactions of either drowning eternally in nostalgia, or performatively shutting everything out about your past in a bid to reach some arbitrary standard of adulthood.
Hence, Taichi’s thesis -- the one he had failed to write at the beginning of the movie -- is only filled out once Taichi embraces that past version of himself, because his thesis summary is about reflection on his past experiences, and making use of those to think about how to apply them to the future.
Tumblr media
This is, obviously, intended as a lead-up to the 02 epilogue in which Taichi becomes an ambassador -- or in other words, someone who indeed specializes in “bringing humans and Digimon together” and offering proposals on how they can coexist in the future. Agumon, of course, is an important part of this job (look at his suit and bowtie!), instead of Taichi shutting him out and treating him like someone who doesn’t belong in his adult life.
Of the careers depicted in the epilogue, Taichi’s is the most “furthest-reaching”, since, as a diplomat, he has influence over a pretty huge range of things, which fits with Taichi’s tendency to shoot for some pretty high things -- and, also, conceptually, it works well with what we’ve always known since Adventure to be Taichi’s true specialties as a “leader”: having the charisma and understanding to bring people from different places together, and to lead them all forward.

{Since making this Playlist / F.S.T [Fan Sound-Track] in/around late Oct. 2017~ in the midst of Tri ending + "Bokura no Mirai" (and the 1st even before Kizuna+2020 happened), I've since also begun compiling a second one!}
Quite a few of these I've since made full-length A.M.V.s to!
A few of the songs were since removed from the first F.S.T but they're still technically included and may be replaced in the future.
Sharing since I've seen some talk of playlists and F.S.Ts in general going around again recently, because I worked hard to compile even these into posts and they both really mean A Lot to me on a personal level, and "Taishiro playlists" are extremely rare in this fandom if you're looking for such... (maybe you can find something here?!?) {Yes, Taishiro is still a rare-pair small fandom, but we're trying!}
Some of the songs can get pretty emotional and Deep, so please take caution to be in a good head-space before listening!
I didn't mention during the making of the first F.S.T, but to be honest it's probably my (very, very long-term) goal to make a full A.M.V. for every single song, with Lyrics or Not on these lists (that may / will likely have KouTai/Taishiro-implied relevancy) because if time spent following this series has taught me anything it's taught me Koushiro & {Kou/}Taishiro in general Does Not Nearly Have Enough A.M.V.s.
The second F.S.T however is still in "finishing touches needed" stage; I have to compile Accessible lyrics onto another post etc., so in the meantime Please simply refer to the above before I can do so!
(I also added my banners to the original post. Most of these were made not long after making the 1st F.S.T. Specifically because people were blatatly ignoring my blog rules & F.A.Q when Interacting on my things including my stuff made during this time-frame, even around me linking this F.S.T. Please. Acknowledge the banners before Interacting, Thank You.)
Because I spend a lot of time on these and it has a lot of personal meaning for me, too and I'd appreciate if that could be respected.
(Also, since the 2nd one was made post-Kizuna, Kizuna relevancy may parallel, though many I had planned to use / add into playlists before it or 2020 re-boot dropped; I can still use Kizuna or 2020 themeing / tie-ins for some of these if I make AMVs for them too though!... Yep)
READY?_ [a Taichi/Koushiro FST]

[ A mini Koushiro Izumi + Taichi/Koushiro (Taishiro/Taishirou) FST (fan soundtrack), interspersed between character songs and etc. + encompassing Digimon Adventure Tri’s Reboot and the potential beyond. -Or, in which Koushiro Izumi angsts way too much for his own good, but Taichi’s always there for him. ] [FULL FST CAN BE HEARD/WATCHED HERE!]
