“Lupin III” New Anime Movie Announced for 2025

The official website of the Lupin III anime series unveiled a teaser video for the upcoming anime film. In 2025, the film, which is currently titled Lupin the Third the Movie, will make its theatrical debut in Japan.

I have no idea what Ganimard is supposed to look like so I drew the one from ‘Night Hood’.

Like Zenigata, Guédira is a true successor to Ganimard. But Guédira stands out by being Algerian, and a hero Algerian audiences in France can see themselves in.

Lupin III: Part 6

The Lupin III: Part 6 television anime series' official website announced new cast members, guest scriptwriters, the opening song, and the first key visual (pictured).

Sapporo TV, Aomori Broadcasting, TV Iwate, Akita Broadcasting, Fukui Broadcasting, Nishinippon Broadcasting, Nagasaki International Television, and TV Miyazaki will all air the anime series beginning on October 10 at 12:55 a.m. on NTV. The animation will also be available on Hulu Japan.

About the story

K- It all starts the fact that Lupin has known Sherlock Holmes for a long time.　The previous series were set in Italy, France... and then this time, the UK. In the first episode, it turns out Lupin has a secret and he will eventually let it all hang out. The story will make you think whether he is a good guy or a bad guy.

About the 50th anniversary

K- I’ve been watching Lupin the Third since I was 13-14 years old. Y- And I was 10. K- I never expected that I’m involved in it... Y- ...for 26 years! It’s amazing. K- You’ve also been involved for 10 years, haven’t you? Y-  I was surprised to hear that it’s been three years since Part 5. It seems like only yesterday, but I still get nervous even though I’ve been in 10 years. It hasn’t changed since when I took over from Naya-san (the former Zenigata’s V.A.)... because of the great characters which they created, and there are loads of viewers who are looking forward to it. Usually, you can get used to characters if you’ve been played for 10 years. In this show, I don’t think like that, but it’s a challenging work.

About a pep party before changing actors in 2011

K- When I took over the role, I was criticized as the successor even though I was not a professional voice actor but a impressionist and I was just asked for. I thought ‘That’s why I said I didn’t want to do it!‘ at that time. If experienced voice actors took those roles, they must be criticized harder than me. Y- On the other hand, I stood for my own sake in a way. Although I didn’t think I could take over, I took the audition. I was worried about it too. In fact, I have been criticized indeed. K- So I thought ‘Why don’t we go out drinking before we were criticized?!’  Y- In a friendly atmosphere. Not only as an actor but as a impressionist, I respect you, Kurita-san. It can be helped that I get nervous with Kurita-san and Kiyoshi-san (the Jigen’s V.A.). So I was glad to be asked to go out drinking before the recording.

About Akio Otsuka, the successor of Jigen’s V.A.

K- Actually, I was practicing Jigen’s voice. Y- *laughter* You don’t need to do it! You are Lupin! K- (Imitating Jigen’s voice) ‘I can’t accept that job, Lupin’ ...but nobody offered me.  Y- *laughter* No wonder! K- I’m practicing Goemon’s voice now. Y- So am I. Don’t worry about it. (*According to the Pia Mook, even Kiyoshi-san was practicing Goemon’s voice with them too.) K- Let's leave that aside for now... And then I heard the name, Akio Otsuka. He’s dubbed actors in movies such as Denzel Washington and Steven Seagal. So, I watched the films again and I could hear Jigen’s voice many times. I thought if he said ‘Hey Lupin’ in the studio, it would became Jigen’s voice. After that, I found out that Yama-chan looks up to him like a brother. Y- That’s right. K- I guess Kiyoshi Kobayashi’s successor must be a big name like him. Jigen has to be performed by an actor over 60 with mature attraction...  Y- When Kiyoshi-san took the role was... K- 37 or 38 years old? Y- He had overwhelming presence. K- You find Jigen youthful when you watch Part 2 again. Y- I was in the same agency as Kiyoshi-san and has seen how he’d worked. His voice was low and sexy as much as hollywood actors’ when he dubbed movies. I would say Akio-san is the only one who can take the role when Kiyoshi-san retires. I wonder how Kiyoshi-san feels about it... I’m sure he’s accepted it.

Things Yama-chan wants to ask Kurita-san

Y- Do you still watch episodes in which Yamada-san (the former Lupin’s V.A. ) played Lupin before recording every time? K- I watch “The Castle of Cagliostro” every time. Y- Even now? Before recording of new episodes? K- I watch highlights and listen to his tone of voice... such as ‘Wow’ or ‘Mhmhm’. I don’t know I can use them, but I try to catch the difference of his unique tone between ‘Come on! Bury me in it!’ and ‘Dump it...’ in the first part, or the way he resists holding Clarice tight and said ‘Don't be ridiculous. You want to go back into the darkness again?’ in the last scene. If I were in it, I might've performed in a flat voice. He was such a great actor. How good he was...  Y- I’ve watched a digest of Naya-san’s Zenigata many times, but not every times. I was thinking you haven’t watched them any more... K- The essence is aggregated in the movie. That’s why it’s popular, I think.
