Your daily little reminder that the main reason Sophie ever liked Fitz was because he brought her to the lost cities. Like, we've all agreed that his personality isn't the greatest and everyone is hot anyway. But I think she's justified in liking him. Not that I approve, but I don't blame her.
Like, if some random super cute boy decided to pop out of nowhere (keep in mind that sophie doesn't have friends), explain that my weird, extremely annoying powers (I don't have powers but shh it's for the narrative) are normal and that he has them too, then bring me to the freaking lost cities, I would fall hard too.
I mean, picture it: the air is clean af, the water is clean af, the EVERYTHING is clean af, medicinal shots don't exist (and you (as Sophie) are really scared of those), VIOLENCE doesn't exist (at first glance), gemstones are more common than rocks, everything is sparkly (including the people -- which now includes you yay you're sparkly), extinct animals aren't extinct they're still here, mythical creatures are here too, but we don't eat meat because we eat plants that taste like meat (but better), desserts are literally bites of heaven, we literally only have jobs out of boredom, everyone is hot, everyone is rich (and oh by the way haha you're rich now too because you're one of us!), everyone is magical (not everyone has abilities, but skills are magic too), and everyone is immortal.
INCLUDING YOU. BECAUSE FINALLY, YOU FIT IN.
And also here are your new super hot parents who own a freaking magical animal zoo (kinda) and here is your 5 trillion dollars (that's the actual amount in canon btw) but it's okay if you run out they'll just give you more,
...oh almost forgot hi i'm Fitz, i'm basically elven royalty, let's be friends!
ok so that's not exactly what happens but it's basically what happens
I would too Sophie I would too.
ALSO JUST CLARIFYING I AM A SOKEEFE, LITERALLY HAVE NEVER SHIPPED FITZPHIE/SOPHITZ DON'T KILL ME
(even back in the days before we all sokeefed I was a dexphie. Fitz was an ick)
Sometimes I think people forget that while Fitz is a Vacker, he is also the kid who missed school super often, and still got top grades. He’s the guy who became friends with Keefe, who while charismatic, is still very much a goofball and not willing to bend to fit in the mold. He’s the smartest kid. He’s a guy who ditched school often enough that the others kids assume he is still there because of his dad.
Fitz might not have been outcasted like Dex, or Jensi, or Marella, but he still was kept away, like he was on a pedestal or something. And then Sophie came along, and he finally found someone who he could put on a pedestal.
Sorry, just thoughts.

Yeah! Sophie only meets Fitz after he's found her (obviously), so she missed the context of years of sneaking away and subterfuge and ostracization. He notes that he was always the weird kid disappearing, which is why he became friends with Keefe, the weird kid who skipped a grade. Which Sophie doesn't understand because for her they've always been like this!
And so, by consequence, we are more likely to miss this, because we also don't see it. Yes, his life has been relatively easy compared to the rest of the friend group because of his family name (up until the whole Alvar thing), but that doesn't mean he was a normal kid. In fact, even if he hadn't been sneaking off to find Sophie and made friends with Keefe, he still wouldn't have been normal because of that very family name. He has an enormous legacy and pressure on him! The whole world has been putting him on a pedestal, which is also ostracizing. Cushier, but ostracizing none the less.
Disregarding the debate about whether his putting Sophie on a pedestal is in character (let's say its true for this argument's sake), I wonder if he does that simply because he doesn't know there's any other way. Practically everyone in his life puts him on a pedestal, including the people closest to him (like Sophie), so what if he doesn't know or consciously realize that you don't have to idolize someone to care about them? What if the two are conflated in his head? I think that opens a whole avenue of character exploration--and it also makes Sophie's reaction more devastating; she thinks he's idolizing her because he has this expectation of her she can't live up to, but really its how he knows how to care and they're misinterpreting each other
Greetings mutual of mine, tis I, completing my duties as a mutual to randomly send you questions :D
If KotLC was live action which celebs would be casted as who?
Ok, so to start I would do
Fitz - Liam Hemsworth (I just thought of the actor who played Gale in the Hunger Games cause Gale is so similar to Fitz, lol)
Sophie - Alyvia Alyn Lind (I'm not sure about this one but it's close enough)
Biana - Iga Wysocka (there are so many good actresses for Biana! Also Iga Wysocka could play Sophie as well)
Dex - Tom Holland - but blonde (I love this one! Our lil cinnamon roll😂)
Keefe - No one can match his beauty 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Some of the ages don't quite match but still. I'm soooooooooooo excited for the Keeper of the Lost Cities MOVIE!!!!!!!! This was so much fun to do and I learnt a bunch of new celebrities. Thx ❤️
