Essi seems like a People Person, so I can see her getting along swimmingly with the gals (except maybe Kylie... they've got beef...) BUT ANYWAY yeah she's a classic girlypop blader, I can see her going out with the ladies, getting some (virgin) mimosas, watching the Barbie movie, uniting against some ruffians causing trouble in the street, etc. And then a SLEEPOVER :D where everyone reveals their deep-seated insecurities and gets a MAKEOVER :D She'd likely get on best with Madina, since she likes to just chill and have a little goof. Maybe make fun of her if that early crush on Gingka thing is still canon.

Axyl is a very o_o. We've dealt with o_o before so first and foremost we're deploying Madina to make funny faces and send funny memes. Her humour relies quite heavily on sarcasm and the internet culture of six months ago, so whether or not Axyl likes her is up to the fates ig. They could watch some funny little autistic shows together maybe; Madina's the kind of guy to just let people infodump and half keep up with what they're saying. Kylie could invite him to pet her dogs to try and make a connection... Does Axyl like dogs... if so then they may be bestowed a little paper tiara. Maybe they can even come and see her wide collection of little trinkets and doodads. Ashanti may just pick him up by the scruff of their neck like a kitten and place them down in front of Zhouxing.

Kosuke... I'm not gonna lie I think they'd all get fuckin pissed off at them. The Beyblade world is not lacking in its snarky smirking fellas, and my girls have just about had it up to here with the lot of them. Madina may resort to violence as she tends to do with a lot of the Beyblade cast. Ashanti's better at ignoring people in general, and Kylie's not gonna throw the first punch but she will screech at unholy frequencies.

I don’t really think so lmao this guy CANNOT get along with people for the life of him. tbf I also just haven’t been able to figure out his dynamics with a lot of other characters also but like. god this guy sucks. I’ve joked abt his and Hyoma’s beef being like “they hate each other sm…. but maybe they get a little gay about it” but I really don’t have anywhere to go with that and I think even if they do get gay about it, it is still mostly just hatred. I think I guess the most complicated dynamic I’ve thought abt them potentially having is with Ryuga, so maybe him? I haven’t really fleshed it out much bc both of them r such unknowable freaks that it’s hard to really pair them up but I think kosuke flips with how he feels about Ryuga. If you really think abt it, like there isn’t really anything much about Ryuga that kosuke would dislike, in fact there’s probably more about him that they would respect, but there’s just something there that pisses kosuke off. With that I think it’s worth noting also that Kosuke is an extremely inconsistent hypocrite when it comes to who he deems worthy or unworthy of his respect and amusement, so there aren’t really many rules with it. I just think Ryuga would be such a conundrum for it that even it wouldn’t be able to make up its mind about how they feel about him ever.

Kosuke’s biggest beef by far is with gingka and I think he just has like no respect or patience for him at all. I like to think that like, in a chronological storytelling perspective, kosuke’s first battle with gingka would be the first time he really significantly shows ALL of his true colors and just how fucked in the head he really is. It all mostly comes down to kosuke’s pessimism and how much he sees the worst in people. They absolutely cannot stand gingka because thru his own poisoned lens of the world, everything gingka says about friendship and the bladers spirit just comes off as so fake and condescending to Kosuke that they absolutely cannot stand it. Gingka makes Kosuke so uniquely angry because it can only read the worst in his intentions and genuinely cannot see gingka as anything but the worst and I think it would be worse than he is with anyone else ever.

while I am curious about all your ships. I always keep thinking about whatever the f is going on with Kosuke and Kyouya. They may not entirely count but please yap about them

Kosukyo are. Insane. I’ve joked about it before but like seriously why did I make them like that. the doomed toxic yaoi situationship ever. I think part of the thing that especially really gets me with them is that nothing about their dynamic is ever explicitly romantic, despite those feelings obviously being there. They never ever say it out loud to each other. They might vaguely acknowledge it at times but it’s like VERYYYYY vague and they refuse to let it be anything more than that. They go through so much tension and eventual frustration and heartache with each other and they never once ever confessed to each other or did anything more than really dance around each other the whole time.

I think the progression of their relationship is a bit interesting, as it does mostly start as a primarily beyblade rivalry centered dynamic, and both of them are entirely fine with that for a very long time. They both spark something in each other and are intrigued by the other as bladers enough that they’re able to have really riveting battles and have their relationship carry solely through bey battles for a good long while. There is obviously kosuke’s provocations and things that allude to the kosuke-typical desire to fist fight, but their beys do most of the talking for them for a while. Outside of beyblade, Kosuke is a big people watcher and I imagine he does end up hanging around Kyoya a bit with the general intrigue they have in Kyoya as a whole, which is what then gives way for more direct interaction and stuff. Kosuke is a total weirdo and Kyoya is very aware of that, but he can’t bring himself to really hate it. There’s something about Kosuke that draws Kyoya in and vice versa, which leads to them weirdly becoming closer. With that and the general teasing and vaguely flirty attitude Kosuke always seems to carry with him, it doesn’t take long for more to develop between them. It’s an odd song and dance and neither of them are particularly romantic, but it’s so palpable that neither of them can ignore it. Kyoya has more relationship experience between the two of them oddly enough– real relationship experience anyways– and I imagine that their relationship comes at a time when perhaps Kyoya has developed a little more as a person, has become more in tune with his own emotions a bit more, is perhaps a bit more affectionate in his own sorts of ways. I think that’s what eventually leads him to be the uncharacteristically normal one between the two of them when it comes to what he really wants from their dynamic. The thing about kosuke is that he never wants anything to change. They are fine with their and Kyoya’s relationship staying exactly where it is and drawing it out as is because he’s satisfied enough with it, and with them being such a closed off and defensive person, it’s the closest it allows itself to get before it gets too real for them and they get sent into panic mode. Kosuke likes being able to stay in control of situations and the idea of being vulnerable enough with someone to acknowledge any uncertainty he may feel terrifies and disgusts him. That’s why it puts up the defenses so much when it comes to realize how much more Kyoya wants from them.

I think at first, Kyoya is able to understand that perspective a little and is willing to allow some distance in their relationship. There’s something always at his core that feels vaguely wrong about it but he understands where Kosuke is coming from, perhaps better than most others would, really. I’ve described Kosuke as what Kyoya thinks he is, specifically like fury Kyoya there, and I think that still holds mostly true. Kyoya himself is not the type to be particularly happy about developing feelings for someone I think, so he understands why Kosuke is that way when it comes to their dynamic. Still, as other have been able to do with him, he expects to be able to grow closer with Kosuke still, and it takes some time for him to realize how truly stagnant Kosuke is and how truly unwilling they are to change. Kyoya cannot bring anything more out of him than he already has, and not being a patient person, Kyoya doesn’t stick around to let it keep happening. Kosuke in some ways was using Kyoya, in a sense. It’s true that it was genuinely interested in Kyoya and did like him as much as it could like anyone, but Kosuke wanted Kyoya to be able to stay exactly as he was with him always and to always be entertained and amused by him. Their relationship was not particularly equal and Kyoya in the end was not willing to keep it that way, which is ultimately what shatters everything for Kosuke going forward. Without his and Kyoya’s whole routine, he truly has nothing and no one else. He’s completely alone, and more importantly to him, entirely bored. It breaks Kosuke how much he is ultimately torn up about it as he is so incredibly not in control and has nothing that allows him to push aside his negativity and ignore his issues as he has usually done up to this point. They’re forced to acknowledge that they truly have no one to blame but themself and it so, so incredibly hard for them to get through that, hence the complete and utter upheaval of everything they’ve ever been.

If/when they ever meet again, they still hold some fondness for each other. Kyoya does, in some ways, want the best for kosuke but doesn’t waste any time getting wrapped up in kosuke’s whole schtick again. He’s been able to change and if Kosuke is still unwilling to, Kyoya has no willingness to spend any more time and energy on them. Kosuke is much softer in some ways but much harsher in others, as he does still have an attachment to Kyoya but also, at the point they are in their life, doesn’t bother as much trying to keep up the mysterious attitude and facade, being more openly bitey and cold when Kyoya does provoke that from them. Their reunion is not long for all those reasons, but it leaves Kosuke with a full ache nonetheless and Kyoya with a small flicker of hope which he can’t tell is misplaced or not.

From the last post, I don't think I hear enough about Kosuke so if you would like to, I'd love to hear more about the lil' slightly deranged fella (at least, I heard he was a little deranged but I don't remember asjdjasbdja)

God kosuke,,,, he’s definitely one of those kinds of things where I have SO many thoughts about it and it is a really complicated character but any time I actually try to say anything about him or draw any of that interesting stuff, it all just comes out as incomprehensible mush bc I don’t really know how to explain it. They’re such a freak who kinda took on that role on his own and now I have lost all control of the wheel and am kinda just along for the ride now. If there is one thing they’ve got going for them at least, it’s that they are messyyyyyyy. Big hater like all the time. Even when he does like someone, he’s very cryptic and weird about it. Contrary to kosuke belief, fist fighting is NOT a love language, though he refuses to accept that.

Recently when I was thinking abt it, I think it’s interesting to kinda compare his dynamics with gingka and Kyoya bc those two specifically represent like, the two furthest extremes of kosuke’s kosukeness. They hate gingka bc they’re very against the whole idea of bonds and friendships and all that. I guess it’s interesting bc it’s not necessarily against the idea of bladers spirit in general, but when someone like gingka goes on and on about how important it is to build friendships with other bladers, Kosuke hates that bc of how much of a cynical person he is. In his mind, he is thriving on his own and it’s arrogant of gingka to assume that they would need to be friends with someone like him to be a “true blader” or whatever. Kosuke is a bit of a hypocrite though, and he doesn’t really fully realize that bc they’re kinda in denial about how really lonely they are, but it’s sort of seen in his attachment to kyoya. He gravitates towards Kyoya specifically because he appreciates Kyoya’s self-satisfactory nature. Kyoya very much does everything for himself and doesn’t generally care how that affects other people, and that’s something kosuke enjoys and finds a kinship in. In general, they find Kyoya very amusing and because Kyoya is such a hothead willing to give his best fight at any moment, Kosuke especially likes him since they themself are such an aggressive person and find the most satisfaction in fighting people.

Their relationship is so interesting because of how similar yet different they are. In a sense, Kosuke is kind of what Kyoya thinks he is, and that’s ultimately what causes their eventual conflict/falling out. What I mean by that basically is that while Kyoya insists he is independent and doesn’t need anyone else, ultimately, his bonds with others are very significant to him and he has a great amount of care for the people in his life even if he himself is unwilling to admit that and only shows it in really roundabout ways. Meanwhile, Kosuke is genuinely someone who hates getting attached to people and is generally very avoidant in any attachment that he does end up feeling. They keep a firm and unflinching wall between themself and others, kind of as a defense mechanism (though they DEFINITELY won’t admit that). That’s kind of shown best also by his dynamic with Tsubasa, where it, at one point, truly feels connected to Tsubasa, and at that point, takes the leap to really start showing some of their true colors around him, the sort of parts of its personality that are a bit more unnerving, yk. But when Tsubasa leans away from this and is, yk, understandably unnerved, Kosuke’s defenses IMMEDIATELY go back up and he distances himself from Tsubasa again. I’ve described their dynamic before as “Tsubasa being the only person who’s ever tempted Kosuke into wanting to be even slightly more normal” and that’s kinda the whole gist of it. Kosuke will never admit it, but they crave a bond with someone who will truly understand and accept them for who they are, freakishness and all, but they have never really found that, and have kinda given up all hope of ever really getting that in the first place, which informs their very cynical outlook on life. He only ever really sees the worst in people, and really, himself as well, and doesn’t expect anything more. Based around his own ways of experiencing the world, he believes that people are at their most authentic at their worst, which is why they constantly try to provoke other people.

But yeah anyways back to how them and Kyoya’s messiness, the specific way their outlook differs is what ultimately drives the wedge between them. Their rivalry is something they mutually enjoy a lot, but Kosuke expects to keep it at arms length, even when they do sort of feel some kind of feelings for Kyoya. Kyoya meanwhile, despite his usual avoidance, when he does start feeling more of a connection to Kosuke, starts showing signs of wanting to get closer to them, and that freaks Kosuke out. Basically Kosuke is so insane that somehow, Kyoya is the one who wants to have a somewhat normal actual relationship with it, which is really wild considering it is Kyoya. Ultimately, Kosuke knows this, knowing also that they can’t give Kyoya that, again, immediately in defense mode. They’re the self destructive kind of hypocrite, because despite the fact that Kyoya is someone who could begin to really understand him, that thought is immediately so terrifying to him that he can’t bear to really let that happen, but Kyoya, easy to frustration and anger, is easy to also stop wasting his time entertaining Kosuke. Kosuke’s ultimate biggest flaws are the fact that he is very self-centered while also being self-destructive and its stagnation and unwillingness to change are what ultimately create a hell of his own making. It’s resigned itself to its cynical worldview and has figured out how to keep himself entertained in that worldview, and while he consequently presents himself as collected and satisfied, truly, he is a deeply unhappy, unfulfilled person, though it doesnt take a genius to see that.

A bit of a sad thought I’ve kinda had about him: I’ve thought about making a shogun steel design for it but it’s hard because I can’t really imagine a future for it. The only things that i really know for sure is that it’d probably quit mercenary work by then, he wouldn’t have anyone really, and it’d probably smile a lot less because its kinda given up on trying to present itself as more put together than it really is.

So which other characters annoy Kosuke the most? (can be both canon and oc characters)

oooo that’s hard just because the list is very long. this guys a haterrrrrrr. Obviously gingka and Hyoma are the immediate answers, though I guess gingka is more genuine hatred and I think Hyoma could be classified more as annoyance. Their beef is mostly humorous to me because they’re both little weirdo freaks but it’s in such a way that when they both recognize that on each other, they just cannot stand the others presence and they’re very passive aggressive and petty towards each other more so than kosuke is like. violently hateful towards someone like gingka.

Another one I’ve thought abt for shits n gigs is Chris bc they’re both mercenaries and I do imagine at some point their paths have crossed or they’ve had to acknowledge each others presence and they both just do not really fuck with each other. Tbh I’d say Chris finds kosuke annoying more than Kosuke finds Chris annoying, but Kosuke just finds Chris so unbelievably boring and predictable. Like it’s to the degree that kosuke doesn’t even bother Chris on purpose because it would just be a waste of time for them bc it’s not even amusing. I’ve also thought before about Kosuke briefly screwing with the garcias and then quickly getting really bored about it and not really acknowledging them much afterwards. the garcias are definitely grudge holders tho so if they ever meet again they r definitely gonna annoy the shit out of kosuke lmao (good for them good for them)

As far as other ocs go, we have established that kosuke is extremely bothered by Tyra. I think that’s fun because it would be a mix of both annoyance and actual hatred. The idea of Tyra being one of the few people who can make it flip its lid and like genuinely completely lose its composure is really fun to me. I could also see kosuke having mixed feelings about essi. For the most part, she is a very cheery protagonist type and that generally is something that Kosuke finds unlikeable, but I would say also she tends to be a little more openly flawed and bitey at times, which I think Kosuke would find intriguing. Idk if they ever had a confrontation I think it would be really weird for essi bc I think Kosuke would try to get her to embrace that more and like, I guess kinda convince her that she’s a worse person than she is, and she would have to stick by her convictions and morals to prove him wrong. idk I like putting essi in Situations it’s fun

what is the worst thing your oc does in the story withhhhh kosuke 💞

oooohohohoooo that’s interesting bc I think it’s hard to quantify. It kinda depends I guess??? I don’t have a lot of super concrete story ideas for him but some general thoughts I guess. One of their Main Things is constantly antagonizing people and fucking shit up. The whole reason they started to become as insane as they are now is bc I really liked the idea of them as a mercenary still deriving some fun from battles to contrast how Chris goes about prioritizing winning in a reliable way above all else. Kosuke uses a defense type bey but has a very aggressive battling style which focuses a LOT on having really hard, heavy hits (which is why they have the twisted fusion wheel bc that thing is (iirc) heavy as fuck). Bc they get kinda. yknow. in battles, their adrenaline junkie-ism comes out a lot to really put everything into hitting hard and fucking shit up. I don’t think it’d be to the degree of the antagonists who like severely injure/traumatize/hospitalize their opponents, but it’s definitely enough that it is REALLY strenuous and hard to battle them. There’s also the fact that they’re constantly trying to get people to physically fistfight them which I think is kinda morally reprehensible probably.

The other bit is the emotional aspect of him being a generally kinda toxic person. My ultra specific self-hating projection beam really did a number on just how bad of a person he is bc it’s like— and this is funny to say considering this is kosuke we’re talking about— he’s not necessarily like the worst person upfront. It’s mostly the fact that he refused to challenge his own worldview, refuses to give anyone else a chance, and is so stuck in his own explosive, self-destructive behavior that it ends up dragging down other people with them if they get too close. Kosuke refuses to change and that’s ultimately their fatal flaw as a person bc he expects the world to stay stagnant and revolve around him and allow him to keep indulging in his destructive hedonism solely revolving around his own comfort and his own pleasure only, which is extremely frustrating and unfair to everyone else around them, and that’s kinda the most fucked up think about them. They’re a deeply unhappy, unsatisfied person, and they start and end alone because of this behavior. He’s at a point where only it can save itself but he doesn’t wanna even try, which ultimately causes his own destruction and loneliness.
