Heyyy! 💖 So many good prompts and I'm a very indecisive person, but how about 😴 + RWRB?
I know for a fact that I've mentioned Princess Diaries 2 in relation to Henry before a fic but let's pretend I'm super original 😅 read on Ao3 here 💤
Henry's never been to a slumber party before. It wasn't exactly a custom for royals when the people you mixed with were the prince of Sweden or some duke's boarding school brat. He fantasised about asking his parents for one after he and Beatrice watched the Princess Diaries 2 but alas his grandmother was not Julie Andrews and he never plucked up the courage.
Beatrice had arrived in New York the day before, her foundation’s concert series was hitting American shores so she used it as an excuse to visit her little brother. She enters the living room in cherry blossom printed pyjamas and bunny slippers Alex had bought her for visits.
‘I still think those are utterly ridiculous.’ Henry points to Beatrice's feet. Alex comes in behind her with sleeping bags piled high in his arms and sighs.
‘Quit shitting on my perfectly adorable gift and start helping me.’
Beatrice holds a hand over her mouth to keep a giggle in, Henry shoots her daggers before taking some of the sleeping bags. The three of them get to work making the living room look extra cosy, Alex and Henry nearly lose a fight with the air mattress but thankfully Beatrice saves them.
‘Bloody idiots,’ she whispers under her breath. The buzzer goes before the boys can reply, Nora and June have bags of groceries between them, there's a twizzler hanging out of Nora's mouth. Percy follows with a Louis Vuitton suitcase.
‘You know we're only here for a night, right?’ June asks, eyeing up the large case. Percy shakes his head, puts a finger in the air before crouching and opening up the case. Everyone gathers round and coos, it is filled to the brim with Korean skin care products.
An hour later, the six of them are deposited around the living room in pyjamas, with face masks on, gorging on pizza. Nora and Alex are debating which Disney movie to put on, Beatrice is painting Percy's nails and June is reading while using Henry’s shoulder as a cushion. Henry feels cosy, he can't help but think this is better than the Princess Diaries. Although he wouldn't mind the addition of Chris Pine.

drself builder - invention for wr
date: march 17, 2024
*also can be called a lifa mirror*
Ever felt as if you couldn't find the right face claim for your DR?
Do you not want to use a face claim, but still wanna tweak some of your features?
Well, look no further, cuz I've come up with the dr-self builder ᵗᵃ ᵈᵃᵃᵃᵃ!
it's essentially the same as how you'd edit your sim... or if you play Love and Deepspace, it's similar to the character customization screen. You'll be using a touchscreen mirror to do this. Instead of smearing your finger over your reflection, you'd use the slider controls on the screen for each region of your features.
like this \/\/\/\/\/
You can also try on different outfits, makeup styles, hairstyles, and nail designs using this mirror. All features will have presets you can choose from, but again you can always use the slider controls to have more control over your appearance.
Here's an example of presets, this one is for eye colors:
Each feature has a star and heart. The star sets the feature as your 'original' state and the heart allows you to save the feature and add it to a collection (like Pinterest). Your 'original state' is the appearance you will revert back to when hitting the 'reset' button. I just added this function because I'm the kind of person that likes clicking through everything, but I don't want to scroll all the way back to the feature I'm happy with after testing things out. You can also manually apply makeup yourself and then save it as a preset.
makeup presets look similar to this (reminder, I'm half asian so all of the makeup styles in this example are yes... asian styles. I'm pale enough to use Korean foundation cushions (shade 23); American styles look far too heavy for my facial features. I'm just ur local asian. Ty.)
Each look has a short description, so you can search for makeup styles if you're wanting a specific style.
You can load in your drself from the mirror as well, and if you forget how to use the mirror, there's an instruction manual you can use near the mirror. There are other features and layouts I haven't talked about here; you can look at the full explanation in the link below.
An extremely detailed explanation of this is available riiggggght

chag sameach and happy chuseok!
This year, for the first time ever, I built a sukkah. It was tough. I'm not going to lie, even doing it on the cheap it was expensive. There was a lot of hot, hard work.
But I am so, so proud of myself.
I put in the effort to make sure my kids have access to both of their cultures through me, and then I got a shady hut to sit in this last week. I also am making sure to be visibly, loudly, publicly all my selves, so another queer, neurodivergent, mixed race Asian Jew out there knows they aren't the only one.
For those who don't know, Sukkot is a Jewish harvest-time festival celebrating the harvest with some ancestor veneration. It's not a big deal holiday anymore, but it was one of the three pilgrimage festivals during Temple times. I've seen lovely photos of streets in eretz yisrael lined with many sukkot. Chuseok is a Korean harvest-time festival celebrating the harvest with some ancestor veneration. It's not such a big deal holiday anymore, but many people still use it as a time to travel and spend time with living relatives. I hear tell of planes and hotels being booked out for months and traffic being horrendous as people roadtrip to childhood or ancestral hometowns.
Here's some photos of mixed race Jewish Korean queer joy. If you follow the link at the bottom, you can watch the video with voiceover on my instagram. (I could download the video, but because I added the theme from Practical Magic behind my words instagram wouldn't let me download my own voice.)
Come with me and enjoy!
Image description: a light skinned mixed race person with dark hair and eyes, large dark green glasses, a white kerchief, and a light blue jeogori with dark blue collar and cuffs and white dongjeong smiles at the camera, gesturing with one hand upwards and back to the grass fence sukkah wall behind them.
Image description: building the sukkah. A series of five shots, the first two with the person described above wearing a long sleeve green tee and a striped buff straw sunhat on a cloudless sunny day. They use white cotton twine to stitch reed fencing to a metal pop up tent frame, with the top lowered to waist height. The third shot, without people, shows the roof completed and raised to useable height, with flowering bougainvillea and white oleander in the background against a cloudless blue sky. The fourth shot shows the sukkah with walls and an orange outdoor extension cord going into the sukkah. The top has more schach of flowering bougainvillea, pyracantha with orange berries, and an olive-like ornamental covering the roof under the metal frame point. The last shot, at night, shows the interior of the sukkah with a round outdoor table and four patio chairs with cushions inside. Sandbags hold the corners of the sukkah, and a large blue tapestry with a combined sun and moon is pinned to the back wall. Outdoor lights are strung so the sukkah interior glows brightly against the dark night.
Making songpyeon! Songpyeon are as important to Chuseok as a hanukkiah is to Xanike or a seder is to Pesach. They are two to three bite rice cakes traditionally stuffed with sesame seeds, pine nuts, beans, or chestnuts, mixed with honey. They are steamed on pine needles to make a sweet, earthy, chewy treat. I wanted to buy them, but nowhere locally sells them. The white and purple are from our first batch, and the decorated green and purple are from batches six and seven. We had seven batches in 48 hours, and I am grateful my preschooler has been getting plenty of playdough time at school - they were really good at making songpyeon!
A note on togetherness: it is traditional to make songpyeon at home together. I have many memories of the work and stress that went in to pulling off picture-perfect holidays, and while the photographed objects are perfect, the smiles never reach our eyes. I committed to making ugly art and focusing my energy on enjoying time with my four and one year old. I want their foundational memories to be enjoying time together, not me screaming at them to make perfect edible art. It was only on the last batch, when we had an empty afternoon stretching out before us, that we tried some more beautiful candies. I think they turned out great.
The white are plain, the purple is made with blueberry juice, and the green with green tea powder. We stuffed ours with a mix of honeyed pine nuts, honeyed white sesame seeds, and honeyed black sesame seeds. We also made a batch tinted rosy brown with beetroot powder.
Image description. Set of seven photos showing songpyeon being made. The first three show a plate with measured but unstuffed pieces, shaped pieces, and the same person as above in a black shirt, black apron, and teal tichel using a spoon to stuff a white songpyeon with sesame seeds. These all sit on a table with a large print of orange fruits, leaves, and flowers. The songpyeon are white and purple. Below that is a set of four images with green and purple songpyeon decorated with purple and green flowers to leaves. They are simple in design. The first two show the paler, uncooked pieces sitting on cloth liners and pine needles in a bamboo steamer basket on the table, and the last two are steamy shots showing the cooked pieces, now darker, still in the steamer basket in the pot on the stove.
Some shots of the sukkah just before the triple holiday started: Chuseok, Sukkot, and Shabbat. After all the work I did (plus baking our challah), we got takeout for dinner.
Our lulav is not standard. We don't have an etrog, but a very special lemon our friends grew and gifted us the harvesting thereof. The palm came from our home, and the willow from our friends,' but instead of myrtle I opted for redwood branches (also from our friends' home). These are similarly fragrant, grow in sets of three, and were foragable by me and the baby close to home. I believe there is a balance to be found between traditional observance, and localized observance. It's not right for everyone, but it is right for me and my family.
The table with with shabbat candlesticks and food is our jesa table. Jesa is an ancestor veneration ceremony in which food and bows are offered to the ancestors. They consume the energy from the food, and leave their blessings behind. When we consume the food, we receive the blessings. For more on traditional Korean practices, I recommend popping over to instagram to follow Mudang Mia, Mudang Jenn (who has a free digital magazine), and Mudang Seo Choi (who regularly has kickstarters for books!).
Image description. Four shots of the sukkah interior, showcasing the food. First shot shows a table set for two adults and two children, with printed homemade colouring books at each child's place setting, The table has a blue tablecloth, three takeout boxes of food, a takeout container of fried rice, a small floral arrangement, a challah wrapped in a red and gold cover with bees woven in, a bottle of de-alcoholized red wine, a bottle of pomegranate juice, a large jar of lemon water, and takeout containers for soup. The second shot is the same set but pulled back and showing the whole interior so the lulav table relative to eating table is visible. The third shot is a very narrow table with a blue cloth printed with smiling white suns on it. It has two glass shabbat candlesticks, a package of beeswax candles, a stack of five coconut jellies, chopsticks, and a plate with homemade songpyeon in white, rosy brown, and purple, white mochi with red bean paste, and three cylindrical puffed rice snacks. The fourth shot is of the lemon and lulav bundle as described above. The lulav is wrapped and tied with white cotton twine.
Bonus: the video I made, with voiceover available on instagram.
You aren't alone.
moadim l'simcha.
Image description: a twig with flowering pomegranate in various stages for seven buds and blossoms total. It has a large white circle behind. Collaged on top are three rounds of moon cycles, spiraling in towards the center in black.

Chat can I please vent abt smth kinda dumb
ANYWAYS I get that POCs have a really hard time with finding foundation shades that match them, and I completely understand the racism behind it and I know it a big issue that needs to be solved. But I cannot fathom how companies think it’s okay to have foundation that’s not pale enough for pale skinned people? “Don’t release shades if you don’t have enough for everyone” applies to pale people too! Like I’m albino, and I have to get a Korean cushion foundation just so I can have one that’s light enough and not YELLOW!

sorry to be spamming about makeup products but. i got the missha cushion foundation and i swear its sooo good. medium coverage (which was way more than other korean foundations ive used) and its a satin finish (you will need a setting power for a more matte look). it looks super natural and covered my red splotches. it actually conceals the under eye pretty good too, but if you want higher coverage or coverage on blemishes/darker spots, use a color corrector or concealer. it also has spf 50 sun protection, and can be easily reapplied w/o looking too shiny. and for like. 8 USD its really not bad. only downsides are that it has a shade range from 21-27, which is only a light beige, medium beige, warm beige, and honey beige.
would give it an over-all 9/10

LANEIGE neo cushion-matte (old) review
shade: 23N sand
out of all the korean cushion foundations i've tried, this cushion was for sure a favorite.
i actually got this product as a gift over the summer from a family friend who works at amore pacific. in korea, this cushion is one of the top-selling cushions during the summer because it works so well with hot weather. as someone who has generally oily skin, this was the perfect daily cushion for me.
pros:
really cute packaging (i love the mint color so much)
long-lasting
SPF 42 PA++
doesn't crease and "scale" weirdly because it's so thin
decent coverage
barely any smudge
works well with oily skin
cons:
may be a bit drying to people with dry skin
like many korean brands, the shade range is really small :(
rating: 9.999.../10
recommend to: anyone who has oily skin and is looking for a matte cushion foundation that will stay on their face throughout the day (even with a mask on).
if you'd like to purchase this product, check out these links:
olive young global, yesstyle (use my code XO2IEUN), style korean, laneige international
thank you for reading this review, and i hope to see you next time!
(also i'm open to any requests and questions!)

Review on Rom&nd Bare Water Cushion
Please keep in mind that I have sensitive, acne-prone, and combination skin while testing out this product.
What is the Romand Bare Water Cushion Foundation?
First some basic information about Romand.
It’s a South Korean makeup brand that is made by Korean influencer Saeron Min, also known as Gaeko. Known for her amazing make-up skills and techniques. This filosofie she brought into her brand: Romand.
The Bare Water Cushion foundation is new in their line and comes in 5 shades. It is like most Cushion Foundations and SPF. Which is: SPF38++++. It contains 10% hyaluronic acid, peach blossom, aqua ceramide, and Adansonia Digitata extract, and it is made with 70% essence so that you can experience powerful moisture. It is also said to be free from 13 ingredients that would be harmful to the skin and only includes plant-derived ingredients
Verdict
When opening the package I could smell a soft fragrance, I do not mind this, but keep this in mind when buying this cushion. The puff is soft and dense and gets a lot of the product spread on it with just one swatch. It didn’t seem to oxidize throughout the day as I had it on and indeed felt hydrating to the skin, as it gives off a dewy finish and is not oily at all. Perfect if you want that dewy look.
Note that it is rather sheer, so if you want more coverage I suggest going for another cushion foundation. It is buildable but stays a bit sheer nonetheless.
For me, it did feel a bit tingly at the beginning of applying it to my skin and it needs to set about 5 minutes before you can apply other makeup. The shade comes out lighter than other romand cushions, so I suggest going a shade darker than you do normally with cushion foundations.
