Psychonauts x Gravity Falls crossover/something in that “Mystery Kids” vein, except on specifically the Psychonauts end Gravity Falls is treated as a weird nightmare Twilight Zone place bc. What do you mean psychic powers “aren’t a Thing” here- Hello? What??

And like- Raz is plenty happy to infodump about Psychic Science to this random 12 year old boy/these twins who admittedly kinda creepily stalked him around but seem pretty open to the idea at least (also ngl his sister has the best stuff to talk about when it comes to scrapbooking/journaling, and she thought Harold was cool so that’s an automatic point for her in both Raz and Lili’s books-), and even if Lili’s more annoyed by the questions/on edge in general about this place, it did feel kinda cool showing off her pyrotechnics and having them react like its something they’d never seen before (plus, Dipper did seem pretty interested in the whole idea of herbaphony/what plants had to say- also it was pretty funny seeing him freak out when she asked about that journal he was trying to hide- maybe if you didn’t want it known about you should’ve had better mental defenses, or at least not pulled it out in front of her, doofus!), but like. It’s still weird as hell that they’d be considered “an anomaly” by the standards of this place (also, the fact that the maps they see don’t even match their idea of Earth in the slightest- where are they?!)

Also- Raz/Lili accidentally blowing up Gideon’s whole shtick mostly on accident/mostly on purpose respectively bc on Lili’s end this guy is the biggest insult to psychics since the “Psychics are Satanic” panic/ the “Curing-Psychics Snakeoil” stuff, and on Raz’s end- listen, he’s a circus performer, normally he has a respect for the act + even if his family never partook he knows from other carnies he’s met what it means to have to play into the kooky mysticism if it means getting enough attention to have a show, but also- like! This guy clearly is not struggling for money at all, what he’s doing is just unethical and embarassing, and like. He’s just cold-reading/hot-reading people. He’s just cold-reading/hot-reading people?? He’s not even being subtle about it Raz can see the friggin cameras!!

(Aaand apparently there’s also some freaky weird memory-deleting cult they have to worry about too, which. Yeah no THAT’S a job for the Psychonauts if they’ve ever seen one, and some kind of dream-creature in the collective unconscious- just. and they think they’re the weirdos?! What the hell, man. What the hell-)

Smile for Me is heavily inspired by Psychonauts in style, and even has dental theme, lots of kooky characters and ominous puppets!

Another that took inspiration from Psychonauts is No Straight Roads, a fight to the beat game with a lot of great music!

This one is based of off a Swedish movie named “Kalle Stropp och Grodan Boll” in which there’s a song where they sing about riding a steamboat (hence the lyrics on the picture “On the ocean when you’re riding a steamboat”, it sounds really dumb in English).

I like to think that we all get a little more uneven and kooky-looking as we age. Though, it isn’t always in ways that we’re prepared for.

[ID: Digital full-color sketches of Razputin Aquato in his late teens. The top caption reads, “Concept: Raz’s left eye starts to drift upward as he gets older”. Raz, wearing his striped underclothes with his goggles pushed onto his forehead, looks in a handheld mirror and lightly pulls at the skin around his left eye with his free hand. She’s wearing a purple t-shirt with a striped long sleeve underneath, her hair tied in several long bulbs that are dyed pink at the ends, and a plastic woven choker around her neck. She smiles mischievously. Raz stands still and returns the expression. Lili: “Want me to squish it back in place?” Raz: “Nah, that’s okay.” Lili: “You sure? Your skull’s pretty hard, but not that hard.” Raz: “I dunno... it’s harder than it looks.” Lili pulls him in and presses her head against his with her eyes shut. Lili: “I better check.” Raz does the same and giggles. A little red heart rises between them. Lastly, two Psychonauts agents in typical green jumpsuits (a green-skinned woman and a blue-skinned one) talk to each other as Raz passes by with his back to them. Green: “Y’know, that kid’s starting to look a lot like For--” Raz snaps around and startles them with a glare. Raz: “Don’t.” End ID]

More pre-asylum content please! I love it and I want to hear all your ideas and content for it!!!!

Hello Nonny!! Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for your kind words! ;v; I'm sorry it's been a long time since I posted more Pre Asylum AU content! Life has gotten in the way and I am currently working up the courage to post all the content and ideas I've drawn/written out so far the past few months! 💖❤️ My brain is still going haywire, just cooking in the background I assure you!

Since you asked so nicely, maybe an introduction to the Pre Asylum AU would be adequate?

Pre Asylum is pretty self-explanatory, the story takes place before Loboto was taken to the asylum, Thorney Towers: Home for the Demented. It'll give a full depth explanation of how it lead to his inevitable confinement: exploring his criminal origins, his family, and who he was before he became the kooky man that is beloved by us all! The story begins in 1986, the year Loboto took initiative to be a working criminal man so he can provide for his wife and son... He wasn't getting anywhere trying to get a normal job, especially when nobody wants him to work for them for er past incidents, let's just say that. This was the only way he could do it is to do something that he been repressing for so long; mutilating people at its finest, which it is very useful for his criminal clients. Unfortunately, benounced to him his sanity slowly deteriorates in the process (note this has been going on for awhile, but it gets even WORSE).

This will also explore the world building that I've been thinking about for the Criminal Underworld and the Psychonauts themselves...

It's Loboto's story, yes, but you'll see beloved characters that I've elaborating on that make appearances that coincide with everything

To shake thinks up, I'd say! :D

It's all meticulously planned :] hopefully you and everyone else will enjoy a man, who had good intentions at first, spiral out of control into self destructive insanity and rattle the entire state of Virginia to its very core

thinking about tim schafer's raw power that basically ran a game studio on chewing gum and toothpicks, loving his creation so much that he kept trying to make it for YEARS. yes, there are supporters and dedicated fans, but psychonauts 1 is still mostly a "cult classic". The people who love Psychonauts made Psychonauts 2, and didn't just *make* a sequel, but a sequel which was updated for the times (i.e. the accessibility settings, the user warning and link to mental health site, the story being *slightly* less kooky to give space to heavier ideas.)

Idk where but I think there is an interview with Tim Schafer where he essentially says that this game is for the players of the first one who grew up with and since the game, which I totally felt while playing. For Raz it's been a few days, but the player is back, is older, and maybe there are ways they DON'T fit into the world anymore, without some childlike wonder.

Maybe you're like Cassie now; tending to something from your past without making the steps to move forward

Maybe you're like Compton now; Anxious about the judgement of your peers, even those that you love

Maybe you're like Otto; you are adjusting okay to your adult or older life, but you've lost touch with those you used to hold dear, and still have some lingering regret

Maybe you're Bob; coping poorly with the weight of life, or trauma, or loss. Feeling alone on an island, or pushing people away

Maybe you're Helmut; you've lost some sense of identity, or felt lost yourself, or become overwhelmed with life in the present

Maybe you're Ford; You hurt so deeply you completely shattered your sense of self, and have hard time recognizing or being proud of the you that is left

Or, maybe, you're Lucy, and life has hurt you so terribly that you decided to Hurt Back.

The game feels like it got older with me, and every moment made me Feel So Intensely because while the story is mostly about trauma and how Bad Action is not the same as Bad Person, it really feels like a story, to me, about growing up, and aging out of the world you were used to.

For me, since I was a little kid when I played the first game, it felt like the game was saying "hey, you know all of the stress and fear you get from growing into an adult? How you can't be as close to the people you care for anymore? How things you knew as fact suddenly Aren't? It sucks, but it doesn't have to. We can still find joy, and whimsy, and love in all the dark places of ourselves and others. Life is different now that we're older, but we can adapt, too. We can find the people that lift us up, grow from our hurt instead of revel in it, and, just maybe, at the end we will Learn to Swim"

While I didn't quite grow up with Psychonauts in the sense that I never managed to beat the game - it has always been with me in one way or another. I think I watched my brother play it, then it was one of the first LP's I ever watched on youtube (pour one out to the guy's channel I don't think theyre findable anymore this was like. Late 2000s/Early 2010s).

So for me playing the sequel felt like. Getting to know an acquaintance I've known my whole life after seeing each other and learning we both ended up growing up into the weird artsy person. And becoming friends!! and learning it's a small world and people are more complicated than you think. And finding out in some way you'd been drawn to each other for some kind of reason that makes sense in the end.

This whole game and experience has just felt very special to me. I feel, seen?? I feel like the story looked at me and says hey you also have your own world inside you and that's facinating and beautiful! There's people like you who go thru heartache and it doesnt "make them stronger" but they get through it and have ppl who love them.

Sexuality Headcanon: he is a raging bisexual Gender Headcanon: male A ship I have with said character: loboto x happiness and teeth. thats it. thats the ship. ok but in all seriousness i am lowkey considering loboto x oleander lmao A BROTP I have with said character: i feel like he’s almost a kooky uncle/grandpa kinda figure to raz and he is ABSOLUTELY besties with oleander and maybe even a little deeper than that,, 👀👀👀 A NOTP I have with said character: idk tbh i haven’t seen toooo many loboto ships but do not ship him with children dear god i fucking hate proshippers A random headcanon: he keeps random bottles of teeth and he also probably keeps some weird ass pets too, i imagine he has a wrinkly old goblin cat and a crow and possibly a goat

I have A Lot of thoughts about A Lot of Psychonauts characters and also want to hear yours. So, uh be prepared to maybe get a lot of those two character prompts if thats okay. Starting with Sam and Dogen bc I love these kooky siblings

Feel free to send as many as you want! It may take me a bit to get to some of them, since I started writing something else too.

Sam loves her little brother very much. She’ll make sure that Dogen knows all the facts she knows about animals! All of them are definitely true, she’s the expert. Being the oldest, Sam had always been a bit bossy towards Dogen, but what older sister isn’t? Before Sam got too old to go to Whispering Rock, most of the other kids would leave Dogen alone because Sam scared them. She would also deal with any of the animals that would overwhelm him. Whether that means making them go away or making them explode is up to her. Sam was barely phased at all by the head exploding incident, in fact it made her think her little brother was even cooler than she thought. Besides, the guy deserved it. 

Dogen looks up to his sister. He’ll try the food she makes without questioning it. Strangely, he’s fine when he eats it. He was often the taste tester when Sam was little and trying to get into cooking. It’s a hobby she hasn’t really stuck with.

Sam had no idea her little brother's brain had gotten stolen, and when she found out, after she made sure Dogen was okay she was like “wow… you sneezed your brains out and got them back? That’s so weird.”

Then she finds out that Oleander was the one who did it and got a little mad about that, so that was what her mentor was up to while she waited for him to get back from the camp? Stealing her little brother’s brains? And no one even told her? Oh, she should have poisoned those pancakes when she got the chance. As if poison would change the effect at all. And Loboto was lucky he got away before she could find him!
