Very specific request but König finding gn!reader (who was unambiguously his lover) who was presumed dead in a nursing home. Crippled and scarred, maybe they were also part of the military, but your body was never recovered after the mission. Yet here you are, sitting in some nursing home with a book in your lap and a blanket around your shoulders, looking so much paler and thinner than he remembers. Maybe they wanted to wait until they were strong enough to actually go see him in person themselves, or maybe they're struggling with their self image now. Just headcanons on how he and reader would deal with it, if you want more angst maybe reader is also disabled now, unable to walk without crutches, or developed a chronic illness. I'm just such a sucker for this type of hurt comfort.
🥹As someone who uses arm crutches, this story was close to home lol. Thank you for your request and I hope you enjoy🥰
Finding You (g/n)
Fluff and angst (slightly)
Master List
>cw: internalized ablism, disability
1.3k word count
.
.
Today was just like any other day at the nursing home. You sit in a vintage arm chair with a pale blue crochet blanket around your shoulders, donated from a local artist, you took it as soon as you saw it in the pile. The shade of blue reminding you of König’s eyes.
You miss him, crave him, but you aren’t ready for him to see you. Not like this. Physical therapy has only been helping but only so much, your body still looks wasted away. A deep scar cutting across the left side of your face now, making you feel hideous. You don’t resemble the person König fell in love with and you’re scared that if he sees you, he will fall out of love.
You drop your eyes from the window to your book. You struggle to stay focused on the words when all you want to do is see, even talk to, König. The months have been lonely, your depression only getting worse. Next to you, resting on the chair, are your new arm crutches you’ve been getting use to walking with since your spinal injury. You glare at them with distain for a while before looking back out the window, remembering life before the incident.
The common room is quiet as most people are outside today to enjoy the warm weather. You wish to be outside, but you still feel a level of embarrassment having to use crutches now to walk. You never knew how hard internalized ableism could affect you until you became disabled.
König walks up the stairs and opens the door to the nursing home. He sees a young woman sitting at the front desk and she greets him warmly.
“Hallo, I’m here looking for y/n.” He gives her your full name.
“You’re their first visitor! I’m sure they will be so excited.” She stands and gestures for you to follow her to where you are.
She walks him through long hallways full of rooms, finally he arrives at the end of a hallway with large windows illuminating the room, the walls painted a pale yellow, making the area bright and cheerful. She points to you.
König stares, not recognizing you at first. You’re small, your skin pale and your hair grown out. You haven’t noticed him, dissociating and looking out the window instead. König thanks the woman and begins to slowly approach you. His eyes gleaming with love as he looks over your fragile body.
“Schatz?” König speaks softly to not startle you. He notices the crutches next to you on the chair.
You turn your head to look at him head on. Your eyes widen with surprise to see him. A wave of emotions rushes over you as you realize he is really here. You don’t respond, just stare. You watch as König kneels in front of you and slowly pulls off his mask. His cheeks are red and there’s a small smile on his lips.
“Schatz?” König slowly moves his hand and rests it on your thigh. He has missed how you feel.
“König…” Your voice shaky as you’re overcome with emotions.
Hearing your voice makes his small smile grow, his eyes study your face. Dark circles under your eyes and a deep sadness fills them. A small frown on the edges of your lips. A new scar on your face, he wonders what happened, but won’t ask right now. No matter what, you’re still the most stunning human he has ever laid eyes on.
“I’ve missed you.” His grip slightly tightens.
“I’ve missed you too.” You move your book to the side on the chair, your hand finding his.
“I’ve been looking everywhere for you.” He grasps your hand in his, bringing it up to his lips to kiss. “Why didn’t you call? Write? Something?”
König doesn’t mean to talk about such heavy topics right now, but he is just so full of heart-ache. Life without you has felt so empty.
“I wanted to heal, get better.” You look into his eyes scared of rejection.
“I could help you heal Schatz.”
“I didn’t want you to see me like this…” Your voice cracks as you talk, you drop your gaze to your lap.
He squeezes your hands slightly; he is aware of how much you’ve changed. Not just physically changed, but probably also mental.
“You know that I love you no matter what, right y/n? You’re my light.” König has felt rejected, learning that you were alive yet never tried to reach out to him.
Your frown deepens at his words, tears building up in your eyes. A heavy feeling of guilt and regret washes over you.
“I’m sorry…”
König gently grabs your chin and turns your face to him. “Don’t be sorry. I’m just glad to see you’re alive.”
He looks at you for a while before leaning in and kissing your lips softly. You kiss back and move your free hand to cup his face. You didn’t realize how much you missed him, his touch, until right now; you’ve been suppressing your feelings for so long.
Just then a nurse comes into the room and approaches the both of you. She smiles warmly and places her hand on the back of your chair.
“Today is a beautiful day, you haven’t been out in a while y/n. Why not show your guest around the garden?”
“That sounds like a good idea,” König excitedly agrees. He stands up and reaches his hand out to you.
You let out a deep sigh, not really wanting to do anything. Yet, you grab his hand and stand up, your legs wobble slightly. König notices and quickly wraps an arm around your waist and holds you close. You feel so much lighter in his arms. Holding you steadily, he reaches down and grabs your crutches.
“You need these, right?” He asks in a soft voice as he hands them to you.
You nod and grab them from him. You slip your arms in and stand with them. König softly steps back and lets you stand by yourself. He watches the way you stand and how you rest on your crutches.
You both walk out of the room and to the back door to enter the garden. König walks at a slow pace to keep up with you. His eyes on you the whole time to make sure you don’t fall or need his help in some way. You feel self-conscious as he looks at you, you know it isn’t with malice, yet you can’t help how you feel.
Stepping outside the warm sun hits your skin and you squint your eyes. König just smiles, taking in how precious you are to him. Seeing how far you’ve come in your healing journey makes him proud, he’s always known you were a strong person. He just wishes he could have helped you along the way.
You walk with your crutches, one foot at a time, making sure to not rush yourself and allowing your body to move at a pace it’s comfortable with. The pain from moving already starting to kick in, and it’s written on your face.
“Do you need any help Schatz?”
“No, I’m okay.” You lie not wanting to push König away by asking for support.
König nods, seeing a bench in the distance he begins to slowly guide you there with a hand on your back, not meaning to over step but he sees you struggling and wants to help. Once there, he puts his hands around your waist to help you sit. There are so many things he wants to ask you, but he doesn’t want to overwhelm you. Instead, he simply wraps his arm around you and pulls you close to him. He kisses the top of your head.
“Would you come home?”
“I- I need to heal still.”
“I can hire a nurse for you, you know money isn’t an issue Schatz. I can take time off work as well.”
“I don’t want to be a burden-”
“You are never a burden. Never.” His voice stern but he isn’t angry. “You’re more important than stupid paper work. Please, come home to me.”
You look up at him with teary eyes and just slowly nod your head. You thought when König saw your crutches, your scar, your frail state, he would fall out of love. He would be… disgusted. But no, his love has proven to be unconditional.

I feel like you would like Trash Belongs in the Trash Can! on Webtoon
The parents of the Fem MC remind me so much of König and his wife (except the father was way more slick than König is)
NOOOOOO WHY DID YOU GIVE ME AN ONGOING MANHWA 😭😭😭😭😭😭 now I'm gonna lay down for eternity and wait for the next chapter orz
I mean, in terms of possessiveness, he might be similar to him. But I don't think he'll manipulate his wife that way, at least not by pretending to be a good guy 🤔
(For those who's curious to read about their dynamic, you can read it here.)

Press Release:
König Galerie is proud to announce Circus Empire, a large-scale installation of new sculptures and wallworks by Los Angeles-based artist Kathryn Andrews.
Andrews’ work explores histories of dominance and ways in which latent or normalized social power structures influence culture. Her sculptures and 2-D works often incorporate the images and artifacts of hegemonic cultural production, such as mass media, commercial products, advertising, the entertainment industry, as well as citations from canonical Western art history. Andrews employs the strategies of pop art and minimalism to interrogate these modes of production, in an effort to highlight how aesthetics, namely image presence and materiality, are used to influence perception and, in turn, consumption tendencies.
At the center of the exhibition, both occupying it and housing it, is a massive custom circus tent that obfuscates the gallery‘s historic architecture. 7,5 m in height, the tent blocks from the view the overwhelming verticality of the former church nave space. Seen from the outside, the tent is immediately recognizable as a trope of joy and exuberance, while inside, one finds an environment that is darker or at least more ambivalent.
All but one of Andrews‘ works are installed inside the tent, and include a total of four sculptures and five diptych “tondos,” each titled Wheel of Foot in Mouth, referring to the act of impolite conversation. Scattered throughout the space, these interactive works feature diverse images of faces or busts, some borrowed from museum antiquity archives and others from free internet repositories of futuristic models. Built as 2-layered “wheels,” each one has an adjustable bottom layer that can be rotated so that a changing set of images and phrases appear through holes cut out of the surface of the top layer. Depending on the position of the rear panel, simple questions or statements such as Did you get an invitation? or You remind me of my ex. become visible, along with images of crowns or hand grenades, creating a playful way for the inanimate faces to carry on a conversation by choosing from a limited amount of predetermined exchanges, as if they possessed a rudimentary or primitive form of artificial intelligence.
A prominent sculpture consisting of a Plexiglass cage filled with found objects greets visitors near the tent entrance. Also featuring a head, the work grips a plastic mask of the American President Richard Nixon, but it is simply one among a large assortment of stuffed animals and certified film props filling the vitrine, similar to the way toys fill up a claw-crane machine in an arcade. The sculpture’s title includes a long list of American movie names, referring to the films where the props had been used, such as Point Break, a 1991 feature about a group of surfers who wore masks of American ex-Presidents and robbed banks. Loosely associative, the work sets up a narrative about corruption and greed, ranging from governmental-sanctioned violence and colonialism to personal folly. Once again, Andrews creates a complex mix of messages about the excitement of amusement parks and Hollywood glitz while pointing to the corruption of the American dream and a proliferation of kitsch that informs American pop culture.
Heads make one final appearance in Encounter, a larger-than-life sculpture of two immense busts, made of black wax, facing each other on a concrete table. While they seem to be at rest, or close enough together to instill a sense of intimacy, both have a large steel tube piercing through their foreheads. This adds an ominous tone to the coupling, creating the impression that the figures are less human than they appear to be, perhaps referring to the shape-shifting abilities of the man-robot that stars in the Terminator franchise, where man is impossible to distinguish from machine and where good is easily confused with evil. The reference to Terminator is more explicit in the sculpture Looking for John Conner, which refers, by name, to the character in the movie that the deadly robot is looking to kill. Here, a replica of the Terminator’s arms is holding up a steel tube, creating a link to the scene in Encounter.
Finally, the one sculpture installed on the perimeter of the tent rather than inside it is Picasso Trace Buzzer, an interactive game. Here, Andrews places an art historical icon within the form of the arcade or state fair attraction. The outline of Picasso’s signature “bull” drawing is produced as an active element, and when traced by a viewer, lights go off and a loud electric horn sounds, transforming the line of the famous artist, and the symbol of masculinity he represents, into an unruly and even obnoxious party trick.
Taken together, the works open up new ways of looking at how culture has normalized historically accepted forms of power and proposes a timely alternative. Text Juana Berrío

“I’ve said it time & time again: Car manufacturers 20-30 years ago… they took chances. They made these oddball cars like the CRX or the Del Sol that were more for the driver and NOT for the purpose.
The 80’s & 90s stand out to me… because it was more about the drive. It was more about style… and what you have. It was standing out from the crowd.
It’s been a few years now, but a buddy of mine & I were driving around, and we were just looking at cars in car lots. And we drove through an Infinity dealership. Every single new car on that lot was either gray, white, or black. There is no other colors. Who??? Like….We have color TVs for a reason!”
-John Moore / Jacksonville, FL
This is John Moore’s 1988 Honda CRX HF, powered by a K20A2 from an RSX Type-S. And his words above are just a little glimpse into his mindset… a mindset that a lot of us tuners, drivers, and enthusiasts feel at our core.
It’s true: The automotive landscape has changed. And the rate at which it’s changed… is nothing compared to the rate that it’s changing now. Technological innovations, combined with cost-cutting, combines with safety requirements, combined with changing consumer demands is shuffling all the papers here. We don’t know where exactly is gonna go, but we know it’s going there fast. And we know it’s not good for expressive sports cars.
The Tragedy
Ford isn’t making any cars/sedans for the US anymore, except for the Mustang. GM looks like they’re following that path… although not quite as extremely. Electric engines are forcing the internal combustion engine to witness their own fate. On the same token though, electric engines are also changing everything we thought we knew about performance.
Manufacturers are cutting costs & closing facilities, while raising sticker prices. New cars are priced higher than ever… absurdly high for someone who hasn’t been in the market for a while. Yet new cars are competing for a tight spot with more ‘monthly charges’ than we’ve ever seen in our lives.
Cars have already turned into full-on appliances. Rolling Bluetooth devices… save for a few exceptions. Fat cars for fat consumers.
And the tragedy is: Today’s commuters are not willing to make any sacrifices to their comforts or conveniences… for the sake of memorable experiences and/or enjoyment. And today’s manufactures aren’t willing to risk it & tell these slugs to go pound sand… except maybe for Mopar. So we’ve lowered the curve to meet the needs of the uninspired. And began to spin-off lazy things, as exciting things. Started to market convenience as performance. They don’t care if it’s lies… so long as it’s what they want to hear.
And if you think the appliancing of vehicles has peaked-out, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Less variety, and more repurposed chassis… that’s what you can expect to see domino into the near future.
What Matters
I’m not sure how to wrap this up. I’m not sure where the pretty bow went. And admittedly – everything I just wrote, was written in generalities. Please understand that. I know people with SUVs, crossovers, and minivans who are not lazy. They’re just busy!! Busy with parenting, work, errands, recitals… all of the above. I get it! I’m not speaking on an individual basis, but I AM speaking on a blanket truth.
But just because the masses go one way… doesn’t mean you need to follow. Know your True North. Don’t forget who you are. If driving matters to you… it’s usually part of a bigger set of character traits. It means that THINGS matter to you. SENSES matter. DETAILS matter. And a sense of FREEDOM & EXPLORATION… matters. It means that you’re in touch with these types of things. So yes, GO OUT OF YOUR WAY… and SPEND YOUR MONEY & EFFORT to support the brands who are led by passion. Car culture and otherwise. Buy what moves you… even if it doesn’t always make perfect sense. And remember that each time we make a purchase, we cast our own personal vote on what’s important… and how we want this world to be.
John Moore is absolutely right: The most memorable cars & trucks throughout history, are usually the one’s that fall at the edges of the spectrum. Same with people.
