2018.03.09 Sayonara no Kawari ni [Review]

REVIEW

There’s going to be no non-spoiler / spoiler section because surprisingly I’ve already seen this play. The writer basically extended a play that I had previously seen in a Rabo Volume (this one under the ‘Part Three: Stage/Play’ title) so you can just read that thread for details and the basic story plot.

So in all honesty, I very quickly realised I had already seen this stage before and I was rather disappointed and let down for the first 5 minutes or so BUT they changed enough parts to keep it interesting.

Change 1. For a start almost all the cast was completely different except Hiroki so the actors could put part of themselves into the role.

Change 2. They included a teacher and someone else that had a crush on the main girl so we could have the teacher (Fujii Kouhei) who knew more than the others but kept it from them. And we have the rival (Amano Shuuhei) who isn't really a rival; he's super sweet and geeky and after she rejects him he doesn't keep persuing her. Shuuhei knows and sees that the Main Characters (Shioya and Mayu)like each other so doesn't push it any further.

Change 3. There were at least three different sections where their scripts (it was a scrip reading play) clearly had 'ADLIB/IMPROV' stated and at those points, they had to close their scripts and make something it. They were the CORE COMEDY moments! There's two moments that really stuck out to me.

(1) Between Hiroki and Misa (who were the second lead's couple) and when the books closed Misa went 'what's five things about me that you like? SAY NOW!' so he got very flustered but rushed to say 5 things and then he was like 'how about you? ... What five things do you like about me?' and she was shocked he turned it around on her and she was like 'ummm....ughhhh.. you're cute!.... You're cute, cute, cute, and cute' and he's like 'you can't say it five times! What five things do you like about me?!' and she pretty much crumbled and it was hilarious. The rest of the cast on stage were cracking up too.

(2) Shioya and Mayu have an adlib in the classroom where they talk about their summer holiday and then Mayu asks why did he come back to the classroom and he goes 'I forgot something...' and she asks what and he replies, '......my swim suit!' and she's like 'your swim suit?! but you don't need it! Why do you need? ... Do we need a swim suit?' and he couldn't reply and because he looked at her and paused she immediately responded 'you just imagined me in a swimsuit didn't you... DIDN'T YOU? Don't deny it! You did!!' and he just died in his seat and everyone was laughing so hard. Poor boy xD

Those two moment were so great!

Change 4. At the end when Shioya is taken to Mayu's grave, there is a spot light on a flower on a vine that DROPS at the end, I think around the moment he starts to break down. And it's really cute how Mayu (once she disappears from the school) spends the rest of the play in the top left corner of the stage just watching over it. And right at the VERY end, he picks up the flower and gives it to her.

I think those were the major changes they had but thanks to them and the adlibs, they were able to extend it into a 90 minute or so play and I DID cry at the end.

I REALLY liked the main actor this play; Shioya Fumiyoshi. I thought he did a brilliant job and he is the only actor who stays on stage the entire time so kudos to him! Also the entire freaking cast is just full of beautiful women and men which both mesmerized me and made me super duper jealous! Every single one of them is GOOD looking!! I really liked Misa too because she was just so good with the comedic timing and did a great job giving Hiroki hell during the adlibs. And her character in general is pretty funnily mean to him in the beginning too which is great!

While I was annoyed at first that I had already seen this play technically, it still didn't stop me from fully enjoying it and I did end up crying at the end -- as per bloody usual! xD

EXTRAS

Before the play, I was very fortunate to be greated by ToshiKun (he's real good friends with Hiroki and they've worked together quite a bit and he knows me pretty well) and he was so nice to me! He was like 'OH! HEY! Are you okay? I'm goooood myself!' and then when we got to go into the theatre he was like 'I will take you to your seat! Please enjoy!' he's super sweet. I don't think he greeted anyone else quite like he did with me which made it all so special.

After the play, I could get a cheki with Hiroki and he was super duper sweet as usual and I was a super duper nervous wreck as usual but he just randomly was like 'I'll do my best with the Marker Light Blue rehearsals!!' which made me super happy because it means he remembered what I wrote in my last letter to him ^_^ his outfit for this play was super cute too!!

Sunrise & Asobisystem's Co-produced Original Web Anime ArtisWitch Starts Streaming on May 28

    It is confirmed today that Artiswitch, a six-episode original web anime series co-created by acclaimed animation studio Sunrise (Gundam, Love Live! series) and Asobi System, a Japanese talent agency whose artists include Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, will start streaming on its official YouTube channel from 20:00 (JST) / 04:00 (PST) on May 28.

  Artiswitch is a new project inspired by fashion, art, and music originated in Harajuku, featuring creators and artists active in those fields to transmit new content to the world. The anime is a fantasy that is set in a store run by a witch named Nina, which is said to be located somewhere in Harajuku. Nina has a chameleon and a pig as her companions, and grants the secret wishes of her customers. The story revolves around Nina's struggles and growth with the customers who visit her store.

  Kazuma Ikeda, known for his MV works for Nogizaka46 and Sakurazaka46, serves as director, alongside series composition writer/screenplay writer Erika Yoshida (TIGER&BUNNY) and original character designer Hiromi Matsuo. Sunrise works on anime production.

Watch Nana Mizuki & Mamoru Miyano's Uramichi Oniisan OP Theme Dance Video

    KING AMUSEMENT CREATIVE's official YouTube channel has started streaming a dance video of "ABC Taisou," the OP theme for the ongoing summer 2021 TV anime Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan, performed by Nana Mizuki and Mamoru Miyano. They duet on the song and are also cast as the anime's main characters, Utano Tadano and Iketeru Daga, respectively.

  In the latest post of her official blog, Mizuki writes, "As the title of the song, 'Taisou (physical exercises),' suggests, it is a dance that can make you work up a good sweat if you dance hard enough! If you have been at home for a while and your body is getting weak, it is recommended for warming up. Please dance with us!"
