Information regarding the first IJIGEN FES 2023 live has been revealed! The live will occur in the TOKYO DOME on the 9th and 10th of December 2023. This first fes will feature three branches of IDOLM@STER performing with four branches of Love Live!

Top 10 Favorite Precure Openings (Version 2.0)

With a certain franchise approaching its 15th anniversary, it is time to update my list of favorite Precure songs. Before diving into the dozens of image songs over the years, let’s back up for a moment. Never forget the intros and endings you recall each season that played before and after the episode. Without any more delay, here are my top 10 favorite Precure opening and endings.

Note: HUGtto! Precure has been excluded as it is still airing, and I have not yet obtained the album version of those songs. It has been divided into two separate posts. Openings will be first, followed by endings. My comments will be brief, as there is not much to say about each one. This was based on visual and musical aspects.

10. "Happy Go Lucky! Doki Doki! Pretty Cure" (by Kurosawa Tomoyo)

I’ll give them credit; the breakdown and solo near the end is catchy.

9. “Leave It To Us★Splash☆Star★" by Uchiyae Yuka

Orie and Atsuko’s involvement is too cute. Also, I like visuals and theme in the intro. Such an underrated song.

8."La♪ La♪ La♪ Suite Pretty Cure♪ ~∞UNLIMITED ver.∞~" by Kudo Mayu

(at least someone had a title card gif of this)

Music is my guilt; better than the original version. Why so low? IT WAS A HARD DECISION.

TOO. MANY. SWEEEEETS!!!! Visually adorable, but the song is missing something...cannot figure out what.

You’re lucky I did not end up with diabetes after this was over.

6."Miracle Go! Princess Pretty Cure" by Isobe Karin

This could have immediately been a top 5 contender, but falls short. Alas, even the awesome extra accents couldn’t really save the full version of this song.

At this point, things get easier from here. Both the OP and ED lists had the top five easy as pie, but trying to do bottom was harder. Okay, enough rambling from me. Here are more precure goodness!

5. "Let's go! Smile Pretty Cure!" by Ikeda Aya

I love Toshie, her designs, and how this video turned out. In a visual POV, this would have topped the list, but the full version of this song does not peak my interest.

4. "Alright! Heartcatch Pretty Cure!" by Ikeda Aya

Character Designer: Umakoshi Yoshihiko

I still remember how vividly attractive the intro was and the song being so optimistic and lighthearted. To this day, it still holds up as one of my favorites!

3.“Pretty Cure 5, Smile GO GO!” by Kudo Mayu

DON’T JUDGE ME. I GAVE UP MAHO TSUKAI’S OPs just to allow this in here. Besides, I love this OP and the song. ESPECIALLY THE BREAKDOWN BEFORE THE END.

DID I MENTION THE TRUMPETS?! OOOOHHHH THE TRUMPETS (..and the xylophone).

2. “DANZEN! Futari wa Pretty Cure (Ver. Max Heart)” by Gojo Mayumi

All I need is five seconds of this. Automatic win in my book.

I prefer this version over the original because of how engaging and high-octane the song is. Why is it my second fave?! WHY DID I NOT MAKE THIS MY FAVORITE?!

. . . As much as I love Futari wa, the visual didn’t entice me enough to make it #1. Nonetheless, I’d leave this at #2 and be a hard contender to beat.

SOME OF YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT IS COMING. THOSE WHO HAVEN’T, BE PREPARED. #1 has the best visual for an intro and my personal motivation song. Future Precure intros may never be as great as this

1. “Pretty Cure 5, Full Throttle GO GO!” by Kudo Mayu

From Kudou’s vocals, to the stunning animation in the intro, to the involvement of the seiyuus in the track, there is NO doubt I’d let this kickstarter be my guilty pleasure. In the full version, there are so many instruments wrapped into the composition (violins, trumpets, guitar, etc.) and beautifully arranged into a badass tune. It’s kind of a giveaway though, but I’m a proud Y!PC5 fan. No other OP gets my blood pumping like Y!PC5GG’s.

On that note, thanks for taking time off your day to read this. Hopefully, some of you enjoyed my thoughts and opinions. Surely, there was an opening I did not mention. If anyone wants to share his or her thoughts, that is totally fine with me. Stay tuned for the top 10 favorite EDs, which will be coming later this week.

So, since the Raven Brood seem to be winning in my poll (the only two votes are for them), allow me to introduce... Angwen!

The middle sister of the bunch, Angwen’s specialty is emotional manipulation, illusion magics, and convoluted plots worthy of the most Machiavellian nobleman. She’s sort of like all of Helena Bonham Carter’s characters rolled into one, with a heavy dash of Ophelia and a sprinkling of Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope....

If at the end of the movie, after she solves all the mopey white male protag’s problems and he’s all happy and carefree and stuff, she eats his heart.

Her usual M.O. is find some rando (usually a boring, somewhat well-off, whiny dude) and, over the course of months or even weeks, sweep him up into a whirlwind romance that changes his life and fills his heart with positive emotions- which taste better, and also give more power. She genuinely enjoys these ‘relationships’, she finds them fun and grows attached to the victim, but the eventual payoff of taking their heart is also part of the enjoyment.

If she’s in a hurry, she’ll just sneak into someone’s house, make herself look like their S.O. (possibly killing the real S.O. and/or stealing their heart beforehand), get all mushy and/or hot-and-heavy with them, and then take their heart.

Today we have a two part show! In the first part we are presenting a conversation with someone from Ni Frontiers Ni Prison, which is a group in so called Canada that is resisting the proposed construction of a new migrant prison in Laval, a town just outside of Montreal. This is a transcript of the original audio, read for the show by Grier, shout out to him! In this interview we talk about the prison and what it would mean for people who’d be most affected by it, the general rise of far right sentiment in so called Canada, and many more topics.

The interviewee names the place they are based as occupied Tio'tia:ke (jo-jahg’-eh), which is the original indigenous name for so called Montreal, the colonizer name. The naming of indigenous land will continue throughout the interview with various locations in the name of decolonization, though Tio'tia:ke is the one which will be the most prominent.

As an audio note to all those paying attention, a fridge turns on midway through the interview then turns back off nearing the end, we’ve tried to minimize the background noise but it’s still somewhat noticeable.

Robert Free on the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center

Next we’ll hear an interview with Robert Free, a long-term Seattle, WA resident and Tewa (pronounced tay-oh-wa) Native American. We discuss the history of the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center, a cultural and resource center for urban Native Americans in Seattle and the surrounding communities. The Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center was established after a series of protests and occupations in 1970 of Fort Lawton, an army base that had previously occupied the park. Robert Free discusses the influencing factors of that time, some of the finer points of the occupations, as well as the implications of protesting and occupation on stolen native land.

On December 7, 2018, Columbus police murdered 16 year old Julius Ervin Tate Jr.. On December 13, they arrested his 16 year old girlfriend, Masonique Saunders, charging her with the murder they committed.

Masonique is being charged with aggravated robbery and felony murder, and is currently being held in juvenile detention. The police have alleged that Julius attempted to rob, and pulled a gun on a police officer, and that Masonique was involved in said robbery. Felony murder means that if you commit a felony and someone dies as a result of that crime you can be charged with their murder.

We believe that these charges are unjust, and demand the freedom of this 16 year old Black girl and justice for the family of Julius Tate!

BRABC events

A quick reminder, if you’re in the Asheville area this coming week, Blue Ridge Anarchist Black Cross is hosting two events. On Friday, April 4th from 6:30 to 8pm at Firestorm, (as we do every first Friday of the month) BRABC will show the latest episode of Trouble, by sub.Media. Episode 19 focuses on Technology and Social Control. After the ½ hour video we’ll turn chairs around and have a discussion of the film for those who’d like. Then, on Sunday, April 6th from 5-7pm as BRABC does every first Sunday of the month, we’ll be hosting a monthly letter writing event. We’ll provide names, addresses, backstories, postage and stationary.

Prisoners we’ll focus on are longterm political prisoners from Black liberation, to Earth and Animal Liberation, to anti-police violence activists caught up in prison whose birthdays are coming up or who are facing severe repression. Or, just come and write a letter you’ve been meaning to write to someone else. It’s a nice environ for that sort of thing.

Fire at the Highlander

Now, here’s a statement by the Highlander Research and Education Center outside of New Market, TN, about the fire early on March 29, 2019:

“Early this morning, officials responded to a serious fire on the grounds of the Highlander Research and Education Center, one of the nation’s oldest social justice institutions that provides training and education for emerging and existing movements throughout the South, Appalachia, and the world.

As of 6am, the main office building was completely engulfed and destroyed. One of ten structures on approximately 200 acres, the building housed the offices of the organization’s leadership and staff. Highlander’s staff released the following statement:

“Highlander has been a movement home for nearly 87 years and has weathered many storms. This is no different. Several people were on the grounds at the time of the fire, but thankfully no one was inside the structure and no one was injured.

“While we are physically unhurt, we are saddened about the loss of our main office. The fire destroyed decades of historic documents, speeches, artifacts and memorabilia from movements of all kinds, including the Civil Rights Movement. A fuller assessment of the damage will be forthcoming once we are cleared to enter the remains of the building.

“We are grateful for the support of the many movements who are now showing up for us in this critical time. This has been a space for training, strategy and respite for decades and it will continue to be for decades to come.

Fire officials are working to determine the cause as quickly as possible and we are monitoring the investigation closely.” --Ash-Lee Woodward Henderson and Rev. Allyn Maxfield-Steele, Co-Executive Directors, Highlander Research and Education Center.

Police Killing of Danquirs Franklin

On March 25, 2019, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Wende Kerl shot and killed Danquirs Franklin in the parking lot of the Burger King on Beatties Ford Rd in Charlotte. Police narratives posit that Mr Franklin was armed and posing a threat, while eye witnesses say that Danquirs Franklin interceded against an armed man bothering an employee and that the armed man ran away before the police arrived, who then shot the first black man they encountered. Friends at Charlotte Uprising have been holding vigil and fundraising for Danquirs Franklin’s family as the police’s actions leave his child fatherless. Kaede Hondo se une al reparto del Anime ‘Kirakira Precure a la Mode’

Hondo interpreta a la hermana menor de Akira

La web oficial de Kirakira☆Precure A La Mode, el nuevo Anime para televisión en la franquicia de Pretty Cure (Precure), ha anunciado el sábado que Kaede Hondo se unirá al reparto de la serie como Miku Kenjou (imagen de arriba). Muku es la hermana menor de Akira (Cure Chocolat) y ella tiene nueve años, Ella tiene un cuerpo débil y regularmente tiene que ser ingresada al hospital. Ella es sensata y tiene un gran corazón, y además, se parece a Akira bastante.

Miku debutó en el episodio 15 de la serie al aire el domingo en Japón (sábado en occidente). El Anime se estrenó el pasado 5 de febrero en Japón,

Una película para el Anime se estrenará en octubre.
