Their hugs bring you back to reality when nothing else can. The perfect tightness against your restless soul. For the first time in what feels like eternity, you breathe; every breath is laborious, but you can breathe.
They do let go of you, only losing their embrace so you can shift. How could they possibly let you go while trembling so fiercely the ground below you might crack. The only sound either of you can hear is birds in the distance and your breathing. They know their voice can't reach you right now.
Like this they will stay with you for as long as you need. No one can pull them away from you. The very sun in the sky could crash to the ground, and they would not let you go.
To them, you feeling loved and safe is the most important possible.

Wild Cherry

"It's starting to get chilly out there."
"So?" Sanemi's attention switched from the newly displayed pictures on the wall to his girlfriend, who was sitting down beside him on the sofa. "I don't mind the cold. And neither do you, as far as I recall." He added, arching an eyebrow.
She replied by giving him a gentle nudge to his side. "Just because it's chilly, doesn't mean you should neglect your skin."
"Oh? Any ideas?"
"You still need sunscreen and moisturizer. Your face will appreciate it," she caressed his face with the tips of her fingers, "and so will I."
"I'll keep that in mind." Sanemi's body relaxed with her touch. "Anything else?"
"Lip balm."
"Lip balm?" He repeated, confused.
"Yeah. It's not girly-- there's a ton out there that fit your aesthetic. The colder weather is harsh for the sensitive skin of the lips. Yours are not different." To drive her point across, she grabbed her own lip balm tube. She spread it across her lips and smacked them together. "Otherwise, I won't kiss you."
"Is that so?" His eyes were fixed on her lips. When she smacked them together with the subtle shine of the lip balm, he held his breath for a moment. Then, a naughty thought crossed his mind. A naughty thought he liked very much, he decided, as his gaze went from his girlfriend's lips to the lip balm in her hands.
"What?" She asked, apparently oblivious.
"I'm not sure about that," Sanemi said, wrapping her waist with his arm as he leaned closer, his voice dark with seduction, "you'll have to convince me."
He kissed her in a heartbeat. At first, their lips smacked together in a rather chaste touch--one, twice--before Sanemi demanded entry with his tongue. She obliged readily. Sanemi moaned as their lips danced together in a familiar rhythm they both created. Her lips were always so full and soft and so damn good, he wondered if she knew the kind of power she had.
She most likely did. Not that he minded.
He parted the kiss first, eyes clouded with a growing desire. He gazed down at her as he licked his lips, glistening with a pink shine.
"Mmm. Cherry." He murmured with a smirk. "Might as well give it a try."

I've been thinking about how Ryotaro would be around the Kamado Squad a lot recently. She's more patient with kids and is a bit nicer to them, especially if they're well mannered. Tanjiro is someone she would be noticeably nicer around because of this. Nezuko too!

Modern Muses Chapter 1: Happenstance
Welcome to baby's first openly admitted self-ship fic! This fic has been in the works for a while. I have loved every second of writing it. Yakuza Kyojuro just does things for me. Very feral and horny things.
Note for my regular readers: this is also baby's first slow burn. It's gonna be a couple chapters before we get to the good stuff, but I promise after that there will be plenty of smut!
AN: The main character has a Patreon where she posts fan arts and commissions. This is my little way of saying THANK YOU to the amazing artists out there creating the most delicious content to keep us all well fed!
Summary: Art student Bri Uzui's world is turned upside down when she falls for one of her older brother's delinquent friends. She finds herself navigating unfamiliar waters when she is dragged into the dark world of the Yakuza underground.
Kyojuro Rengoku is a high ranking member within the Yakuza family empire of the Ubuyashiki Clan. Falling in love was not part of the plan, especially not with his co-worker's younger sister. But here he is, trying to protect her, trying to love her, trying desperately to be the man she deserves even as more blood drips from his fingers.
Are these two lovers star crossed or can love really conquer all?
If you prefer to read on AO3, please click here!
WC: 3400+
CW: This is a Yakuza AU - the canon characters act OOC many times during this because of that. Chapters with elements of Smut, Violenece, or Non-Con (Not by Kyojuro or any of the canon good guys) will have that noted with the chapter summary so that readers can skip it.
Chapter 1
Summary: Kyojuro Rengoku and Bri Uzui's paths cross due to a matter of pure happenstance.
Chapter CW: a non-descript mention of an unwanted situation of a sexual nature, non-descript mentions of violence

âYouâre not paying attention, Uzuii! What the fuck!â Sanemi growled at his friend.
âSorry,â the white haired man said, waving him off as he typed on his phone.
âWhatâs so fucking important that it canât wait until after the game?â Sanemi snapped again.
âHeâs probably texting one of his girlfriends,â Obanai said from where he stood.
âItâs not like we are in a rush at this moment,â Kyojuro said as he picked up his water bottle to take a drink. Shinazugawa seemed to always be looking for a fight and Iguro was always right there ready to egg him on. Â
The 4 men were part of a Yakuza family called the Ubuyashiki Clan. The members referred to themselves as the Corps. The 4 men present all held the highest rank a member could achieve, that of a Hashira. Their hands were filthy, covered in blood and they knew it, but life had never been kind to any of them. They all made the decisions they needed to be able to survive.Â
With nothing going on in the Corps involving them yet today, they decided to enjoy the nice weather and meet up for some basketball. It was nice to sometimes see each other outside of meeting up under the cover of night with guns drawn and fists bloody.
âNah, not my girlfriends, Iâm replying to the princessâŠâ Tengen said as he typed a response.
âYour little sister canât wait?â Obanai asked.Â
âNo, sir. Absolutely not. No way,â Tengen said, looking up from his phone, his expression dead serious. âSince our dad died, itâs my responsibility to make sure she knows how she should be treated and that includes sitting around waiting for replies.â
âAnd what does she need that is so urgent?â
âWhatâs with the fucking interrogation?â Tengen snapped.
None of them had met her, but Tengen spoke highly of her when she came up in conversation. He tried his best to keep her away from his less than desirable activities and Kyojuro could not blame him for that. He did the same with his younger brother.
Kyojuro shook his head, no sense getting involved in their petty arguments. He understood where Tengen was coming from. His own little brother was a huge part of why he was even part of this underworld, getting his hands dirty.Â
His mother had passed away young and his father had become a raging, abusive alcoholic. Kyojuro had started doing work for the Corps when he was still in high school to make sure they had enough money to eat and keep the utilities on. His mother would have been unhappy with his methods and how he had had to change to survive, but she would have understood he became who he had to be for Senjuro. At least that was what he was going to keep telling himself.Â
Once he had turned 18 the Corps had helped him gain custody of his little brother. Senjuro was an hour away, attending a good school. A good school where they were safe, housed, and getting a good education. He missed his brother very much, they were very close. But right now that was the safest place for him to be. Away from their father and from this town.Â
Once you were in the Corps, you were in for life unless they retired you or you went out with a bullet in your skull. Kids were an absolute no no in this life and that included a younger brother. Especially with no one to help him with child care. So for now, things were the way they were. He had no one waiting on him and nothing to do. He stretched and enjoyed the breeze.
Uzui groaned as his phone rang and answered it, the other 3 interested to see if it was Corps related. âGirl! You did not let me finish replying! Wait- whatâs wrong⊠yeah⊠seriously? Fuckin asshole. Iâm gonna make him eat rocks⊠You know youâre not supposed to encourage my delinquent behavior, right⊠No. Absolutely not. Iâm not sending you uber money, you know damn well how I feel about that. Walk your ass over to the park. Iâm playing basketball with some of the guys and Iâll give you a ride after we finish⊠okay hanging up, love you too byeâŠâ
He put his phone back in his pocket. âAlright boys, let's do this!â
âEverything okay?â Sanemi asked. As much of an asshole as he tried to be, he was a family man at heart and did care. Kyojuro knew that about him.
âYeah, just another dead beat asshole. Let's get this goinâ!â
Kyojuro chuckled. Uzuii was a softy inside for his girls - his 3 girlfriends and especially, his baby sister. Their mother had moved to be with her sisters after both of her kids graduated high school. Uzuii and his sister had decided to stay here. He knew that Tengenâs sister was an art student and was 14 months younger, but that was it.
âDo you think his sister is as tall as he is?â Obanai asked Kyojuro as the other 2 returned to the court already shit talking to each other.Â
âThat would probably be unlikely. 6â6 is uncommon for a man, let alone a woman.â
âI suppose youâre right.â
Kyojuro chuckled as he pulled his shirt over his head, it was hot under the August sun and they were about to start playing again. He didnât really care if Uzuiiâs sister was tall or looked like him at all. He was not interested in a girlfriend. Families were an easy target for enemies.
The Corps had ladies that could satisfy the physical needs of its members if needed. He had sought them out a few times out of curiosity, but none of the experiences had been life changing enough for him to want to make it a regular thing.Â
When he was absolutely pent up and nothing else worked, he dialed one of the numbers in his phone. He knew the women only by nicknames he had given them. Respectful ones that got him teased by Uzuii but he was determined to hang on to some shred of the gentleman he wanted to be. As much of a gentleman as one could be in the situation.Â
No kissing and no names. It was a few moments of a high followed by hours of regret. It would seem that even with as fiery and passionate of a person as he was, sex and romance were just not in the cards. They were not priorities. So with that, he put any curiosities about the âprincessâ out of his mind and focused on the game at hand.
Bri huffed as she walked through the park. It was hot as hell. She was glad she wore her hair up today. She wanted to be annoyed that Tengen had made her walk in this damn weather, but truthfully she had no right. He was off today and was hanging with his friends. He had done his own thing thinking she was settled.Â
He would have lost his mind if he found out she walked back to her apartment alone when it was almost evening. That was why she had asked him to zelle her money for an Uber, not wanting to be a bother or deal with him not knowing where she was. However, Mr. Overprotective would never let her in a rideshare. She just hated bothering him when he was actually doing things he enjoyed.
He was protective before he was part of the Corps, but since joining⊠it was even worse. Which was understandable. Her brother was a delinquent but he had a heart of gold.Â
When their father had died, their mother had fallen into a deep depression. Sometimes she was not okay enough to work, and they needed food on the table. Being older, and wanting Bri to focus fully on her grades so she could get a scholarship to art school, he had gone out and found a way to make money. Unfortunately, that led him to the Corps, which now owned her brother.Â
She did not know most of what went on with the Corps, but she knew he was pretty high in the hierarchy. Which made him an incredibly dangerous man. She knew he had bloodied his hands far more than she could ever imagine but he was still her beloved, stupid big brother.Â
And he had done all of this for her. To take care of her and make sure she could follow her dreams. She would never hold it against him. Give him a hard time? Ofcourse! They were siblings! But truly put him down or degrade him for it? Never! And she would kick the ass of anyone that did. She was just as protective even if she was nowhere near as deadly.
His occupation was why they did not live together. They lived near each other, but he felt it was too dangerous to risk staying together. She lived alone, their mother having moved back to her hometown, wanting to be with her siblings.Â
Most of the time it did not bother her. Tengen had his life in the Corps and his 3 girlfriends to keep him occupied. He was busy but he still always made time to see her and spend time together. And he dropped everything if she needed anything.Â
Tengen paid for her apartment, wanting her focus to be on school but everything else Bri was proud to say she paid on her own using her artistic talent. She did fan art commissions and had a small following on Patreon.Â
Her brother had guffawed the first time he saw her patreon of an orc getting pounded by an elf. She had told him to close his mouth, that she was doing the Lordâs work. He had never brought it up again.
What she dreamed of was being able to publish the fully original graphic novel she had been creating. She had more adventures in mind for the characters past this story, enough to make it into a series. But for now, it was erotic artwork paying her way. Everyone had to have a specialty right?
She had a few people she talked to at school and occasionally went out with, but the only person she would consider a friend was one of her brotherâs girlfriends, Suma, who was also part of the Corps.Â
Bri was busy with school and her artwork. She truly loved the life she led. But still, at the end of the day, she was lonely.Â
Bri replayed the way things had gone today as she made her way down the path towards the basketball courts. She had told her brother the guy she was supposed to be getting a ride home from backed out, but that was not quite the truth. She did not want her brother to kill the guy and he was likely to if he knew the truth.
She and this guy had been talking since the start of the school year. After several weeks of him asking she had finally given in to his request and gone out for coffee with him over the weekend. He had told her he would give her a ride home after class today. It turned out he wanted a sexual favor for the ride home. After a scuffle in his car she had gotten out and told him to drop dead and never speak to her again.
She was not a virgin or a prude, though she was inexperienced. That being said, she was not sucking off anyone, let alone some kinda weird, barely okay looking guy, for a ride home. Her gut instinct had been right about him all along, he was a loser.Â
She would rather be lonely than deal with guys when they all seemed to end up being like that. Sometimes it seemed like there were no good guys left in this town. Maybe that was why her brother had 3 girlfriends. The other ladies in town already knew what she was learning - Tengen was one of the last of the good ones. If not the last one left in this town.
In Briâs eyes, him being in the Corps didnât change him being a good man. He spoiled his sister and his girlfriends in every way he could. He was protective and a gentleman, even if he was a pervert. He was funny, sweet, hard working⊠what did a girl have to do to find a guy like that?
She sighed and kept walking. The sooner she got there the sooner she could sit down and the sooner she could go home. Today sucked.
She walked towards the basketball courts, keeping an eye out for her brother. It was the middle of the week and mid day. There were not a ton of people at the park. Though, her brother being 6â3â and having white hair made him stand out just as easily when it was busy.Â
She had never gotten to meet any of his friends from the Corps before. He tried to keep her far away from that part of his life, so he must truly trust whoever he was with. She was just glad he was currently playing basketball and not lifting cars or breaking kneecaps, or whatever other things his delinquent self did.Â
As she spotted him and approached she could see the 4 of them more clearly. She discovered that she had a new thought to ponder. Was it a requirement for a guy to be good looking to be a member of the Corps? Because damn! Her brother was surrounded by sexy, sexy men. Three sexy tattooed very dangerous men⊠Maybe I should ask if they are hiringâŠ
Two of the others were still tall for men, and broad (so broad) but, compared to her behemoth of a brother, just about everyone looked small. She would put them around the 5â10-6â mark based off comparison to her brother. The third was average height for a man, which would still made him taller than her, she would guess about 5â6â. The shorter one was handsome, though he wore a mask around his lower face so it was hard to tell.Â
There was another snow haired man, covered in scars, and playing to win. He was giving Tengen one hell of a time and she was here for it. Go get him Winter Wonder!
But it was the 3rd man that had her interest. His hair reminded her of flames. Flaxen tendrils darkening to red on the ends. Sweet gods, he had a good body. From an artistâs standpoint and a womanâs, it would be enjoyable to do a muscle study on him. In multiple ways.Â
She got closer and could see his features more. Prominent black eyebrows, square jaw, face as thoughtfully and carefully carved by the gods as the rest of him⊠whoa, mama⊠Maybe that guy being a creep wasnât such a bad thing after all. He couldnât hold a candle to Flame Boy.
She blushed and shook her head to clear her thoughts. The last thing she needed was to get a crush on one of her brotherâs fellow corps members. She reminded herself of what her father used to tell her with a laugh and a hug. That all men, including her brother, were pigs and her focus needed to be on school and her career.
They were going at each other pretty intensely, so she plopped down in the shade under a tree nearby to wait. She pulled out her sketchbook, flipping to a charcoal drawing of her father she needed to work on for class, figuring she might as well do it now.Â
She lost herself in her art, not paying any attention to what her brother and his friends were doing. When she was in the âzoneâ the rest of the world and even time itself disappeared. Tengen called it the âart monsterâ because it possessed her. And that had apparently happened yet again.Â
She was startled when she got thumped on top of her head as she was staring down at the page. âMind your manners, Tengen and kindly remove your nasty ass water bottle from my clean hair.â
âYouâre in a bad mood,â Tengen said, squatting down and looking at what she was drawing. âThat is really good. You even got his dimples right.â
âYeah, its funny the little things I donât need a reference photo for, but the major things I do. Like I never really thought about how itâs from dadâs side you have no eyebrows,â she told him.
âThanks, ass,â he rolled his eyes, standing up and glancing behind him as his friends headed towards him.
Go away Tengen and leave me alone with your sexy, shirtless, sweaty friends. Especially that one⊠wait, down girl, cage them hormones.
âYou ready to go?â she asked. âIâm good with waiting more if I need to.â
âNope, weâre done,â Tengen said.
âWhatcha drawing?â the scarred man asked, gesturing at her sketchbook.Â
âOur father,â Bri said, turning the book around to show the charcoal sketch.Â
âThat is incredible,â the flame haired hottie said, squatting down to look closer.Â
His eyes were beautiful and he smelled good even sweaty. Oh lord, please may I not embarrass myselfâŠ.
âThank you,â she smiled.
âVery realistic,â the masked one said, next.
âDamn, thatâs a drawing? Seriously. That looks almost like a fucking photograph,â the scarred one said.
âThank you,â she gave a cheesy grin just like her brother liked to flash.Â
âWhat can I say? My little sister is crazy talented! Her artwork is the flashiest!â he grinned. âPrincess, meet the boys- Kyojuro, Sanemi and Obanai. Boys- meet Bri.â
âHi,â she gave a little wave, forever awkward. She had long ago gotten over being embarrassed about Tengen calling her princess. It was what he had always called her, as long as she could remember⊠So why did it suddenly irritate her now?Â
âYou ready, your highness? Your chariot awaits,â Tengen said, offering his sister a hand up and pulling her to her feet.
âSure thing. Nice meeting you all!â
Kyojuro glanced after the Uzuii siblings as they walked away towards Tengenâs car. Bri definitely did not look like Tengen. Only their smiles were similar. He had probably spent more time taking her in than he should have, but he reasoned with himself he was just comparing the traits of the two siblings who look nothing alike.
Tengen was an exceedingly tall hulking mass of muscle. He had snow white hair and lavender eyes similar to Shinazugawa. His sister was maybe 5â3â and was all curves to her brotherâs muscled planes. Bri had eyes that were so green they were almost startling. They were like emeralds set into a frame of thick black lashes. Her skin was not the alabaster of her brotherâs, but a warm olive. Her lips-
âBetter not be catching feelings there, lover boy,â Shinazugawa startled him from his thoughts.Â
He grunted, ignoring the jab and pulling his shirt. he needed to get showered and head to HQ to see if he had any work to do tonight. Work would help in more ways than one, including keeping his mind off of his good friendâs younger sister. He hoped.
His mind wandered back to her as he drove back to his place across town. Bri was beautiful and she had the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. He wondered if she knew the ugly truth of just what her big brother did for a living. If she did and she accepted it⊠no, best not to even entertain wanting to see her again.
His life belonged to the Corps, just like Tengenâs. He had known there was no turning back from the start down this path. There was no room for regrets now.Â
He shook his head and headed inside to get showered. He glanced at his reflection in the mirror. The man looking back at him was a far cry from the upper middle class boy he had been. Back before his mother died and his father became an insufferable drunk monster.Â
There was the jagged scar down the left side of his face, the injury had almost cost him the eye. Multiple other scars, large and small littered his body and many more were covered by the tattoos of tigers, flames and koi scrolling along his torso.
He flexed a little and smirked as he remembered the way Briâs eyes had lingered on his form but not the others. He worked hard to keep his body in top shape, but it still felt nice to be checked out. Especially by a beautiful woman. A beautiful woman who was very, very off limits. Right?

ambie I followed because I think I saw you writing with aven and I liked what I saw. I stayed because I really enjoy writing with you and I think you're a great person to have on dash. I love that we've quickly tumbled into writing so many different combos together and how up for throwing muses at me you are. I love your range of characters from your ocs to your canons and the emotions you bring to the table whether heartbreaking like the kiri and Toga thread or amusing like gil and Salem. You brighten my dash by being here and I hope we get to write together for the longest time.
ahhhh honestly, it's so great. do you know it usually takes me up to 6 months to a year to ever approach anyone to write ? i take forever because im never sure what to say or how to throw my muses at anyone but sending in that plot meme helped so much and sometimes i still go back to it and realize i've added so many people since them and im so up to throwing more muses your way because it's been so fun and chill being able to write all these different dynamics !
i think the fact that we have something as heartbreaking as that toga and kiri dynamic then having so many others is funny to me, because of how quickly we fell into them fr. but ahh i feel the same ? i read everything you read, i'm down to enable every test muse, every hc, every brainrot because i just really vibe with you and think you're the best thing since sliced bread. i just know we'll have like 50 different dynamics before january with the rate im adding muses lmao.

so i mentioned before that tengen gives me the vibe of someone who thinks theyâre the best and worst at the same time, depending on when you catch them, and hereâs why!! uhh warning: this oneâs a doozy of a headcanon, meaning itâs long as hell :â )Â
personal blogs, do not interact!
first of all, thank you ufotable for giving us extra scenes that let us see more of tengen and his wives bc that contributed to this headcanon <3 deviations that anime tend to take arenât always for the better, but in this case, iâm really happy with the changes they made bc i feel like we can get a better look at tengenâs mindset/motivations. but let me not get ahead of myself here!!
i know that tengenâs intro is him proclaiming himself a god, and generally he gives off the impression that he thinks highly of himself. when gyutaro asks, â youâre their savior, arenât you? ...their affection and gratitude toward you know no bounds, huh? â he even eggs the upper moon on by saying, â iâm a flashy, glamorous ladiesâ man, so thatâs a no-brainer. and i even have three wives no less. â he is trying to provoke gyutaro, but tengen is well aware that heâs someone who naturally gains admiration and envy bc heâs tall, handsome, strong, and yeah -- heâs got three wives!
so i donât think tengen generally struggles with confidence or self esteem, but he does struggle with guilt. during that fight with gyutaro when heâs saying that tengen mustâve been special the day he was born, a chosen talent, tengen all but laughs in his face and denies that he has any talent -- itâs a load of crap when just how many lives have slipped through his fingers?? too many. he isnât like kyojuro who protected an entire train of people and didnât allow a single person to die, even if it was at the cost of his own life.Â
and the thing is, tengen is crazy strong and obviously does have talent since he has incredibly good hearing, but based on his background and opinion, he likely didnât have a natural talent with combat. the training his father put him through molded him into the warrior he is, made him capable of becoming a pillar. he wasnât like muichiro or even kyojuro who taught himself flame breathing. tengen wasnât born extraordinary. he was made extraordinary through blood and sweat and tears and loss.
but his lack of natural talent is nothing to be ashamed of! itâs the fact that heâs let so many people die and likely killed people as well. itâs the fact that his wives nearly died because of him. itâs the fact that his siblings are dead while heâs still alive.Â
in the anime, we get an extra scene between tengen and his wives in which they go to the uzui family grave to visit his brothers. thereâs a moment where tengen slips and says, â iâm going to hell,â and then proceeds to brush it off lightheartedly bc he doesnât want another â tongue-lashing â from his wives. but he then thinks to himself, â iâm going to live the flashiest life possible for my siblingsâ sake. âÂ
first!!! the fact that he specifically says he doesnât need another tongue-lashing from his wives implies heâs said this kind of thing before, and i love that little detail bc that means hina, suma, and makio are all three aware of tengenâs struggle and wholeheartedly believe he shouldnât feel guilty. and the fact that they think he shouldnât feel guilty plus the fact that he wants to live a â flashy â life for his siblingsâ sake means that he 100% feels responsible for his siblingsâ deaths. in the second official fanbook, we find out that tengenâs father tricked him and his siblings into fighting each other to the death by masking them, and as a result, tengen killed two of his brothers. itâs no wonder that he believes heâs going to hell despite having been tricked.
i do wonder if it also has to do with his own feelings towards the shinobi way of life. they were expected to risk their lives for the mission, but that isnât what tengen wanted from the start, iâm sure. how could he when he lost some of his siblings before they were even ten years old? or when he saw how his father treated his family? how could he when he married hina, makio, and suma, and suddenly had people who he felt responsible for, who he wanted to protect? he didnât want to die for something like duty to a lifestyle he hated -- he wanted to live. he wanted to live beside his family, beside his wives, and he wanted them to live, too. and i wonder if that didnât lead to deaths he couldâve prevented. you hesitate when youâre afraid of dying, after all.
plus!! tengen says, â those who have baggage like conflict or quandaries are spineless fools. thatâs always been the story of my life, â so his desire to survive has been a struggle for him even while he was a shinobi. but then oyakata-sama tells him thank you for fighting despite those conflicts and quandaries and validates that desire. it isnât something to be ashamed of, and he doesnât have to fight with the intention of laying down his life if need be. iâm sure he thought oyakata-sama would expect that of him, which is why he looks absolutely surprised by his response.
HOWEVER, that doesnât negate the guilt tengen feels for the people heâs lost as a result of his â quandaries. â heâs grown, and now he doesnât hesitate bc he fights with the intention of winning so long as it isnât at the expense of his or his wivesâ lives. heâs got better judgement bc he has clear intentions without the weight of anotherâs expectations on him. but heâll never forget his siblings and the others heâs lost because he wasnât willing to die for them.
#reposting this hc bc it's one of my favorites and i just love a man and his three wives :' ))))#i'm so sorry for the person i'm about to revert back into y'all and so sorry i said i was getting rid of my kny characters#just to come back from my break with so much kny muse asdfgh#i do not control my gremlin brain i'm afraid#headcanons | tengen

Welcome to Chapter 2 of my self ship Yakuza AU! Tattooed, bad boy Kyojuro occupies way too much of the limited space there is in my brain!

CW: This is a Yakuza AU - the canon characters act OOC many times during this because of that. Chapters with elements of Smut, Violenece, or Non-Con (Not by Kyojuro or any of the canon good guys) will have that noted with the chapter summary so that readers can skip it.
Chapter 2 Summary: Kyojuro and Bri have an unplanned dinner together. When Tengen finds out in an unconventional way he makes it his business and confronts them individually. He isn't mad, he's just a protective big brother.
Chapter CW: a non-descript mention of an unwanted situation of a sexual nature, non-descript men tions of violence
Banner and dividers by me
Several weeks had passed since Kyojuro met Bri in passing at the basketball courts. He had found himself thinking about her more than he cared to admit. As he left the dry cleaners and was walking toward his car he heard his name being called.
He turned his head at the feminine voice and was surprised to see none other than Bri walking towards him waving her hand with a smile on her face. The setting autumn sun behind her cast an amber glow on their surroundings. She was stunning. Just stunning.Â
âHi!â she grinned up at him when she finally got close.
âWell hello there,â he grinned back at her.
âI saw you walking and thought Iâd say hi,â she said, her cheeks had the slightest pink tint to them.Â
âWell, Iâm glad you did. It is nice to see you again,â he answered.
âYou too,â she said, her cheeks got a little pinker. She broke their eye contact and cleared her throat. âI was thinking about going down to Hinatsaruâs restaurant. I know Tengen said you guys all eat there regularly. Would you care to join me? If you were heading that way.â
âUnfortunately I am not heading that way at this time,â he answered, wondering if maybe he should be. He saw the slight disappointment come into her eyes. Well that just wonât do. He spotted the diner behind her. He gestured to it. She glanced behind her to see what he was pointing at. âWould you care to join me for dinner there?â
She turned back to him with a broad grin that lit up her eyes and warmed his chest, âSure!âÂ
It turned out to be one of the best decisions Kyojuro had ever made. Bri was witty. She was beautiful. She was funny. She was warm. Once she got comfortable she was very talkative. They ended up getting so lost in their conversation that their food was cold by the time either had taken their first bite. Bri was a helluva woman, and he was happy he had gotten to spend some time with her.Â
It had been after dark when they finished their meal. He had insisted on giving Bri a ride home, not wanting her to take the bus or to walk especially alone at night. He had watched her walk up the stairs, turning to wave at him before she let herself inside her apartment. He had not pulled away until her door was closed.Â
Kyojuro was in a good mood when he got to the Corps HQ. He had gone home and changed into his work attire, his black button down, black waist coat and red tie, before coming in. He was whistling to himself with his hands in his pockets when one of the new low ranking members called out to him.
âHey man- did I see you with Bri earlier?â the younger man called out to him as he began to head inside.
âWhy yes, you did,â Kyojuro answered, turning towards the voice and waiting for the lower rank to approach him. He was curious as to why this kid would know her name, instantly on alert. âIs she a friend of yours?â
âShe goes to my art school,â the guy told him.Â
âAh, I see. And whatâs your name?â Kyojuro asked, not having seen this man before.
âOh, its Kaigaku,â the man nodded to him. âHeads up man - she doesn't put out. Youâre just wasting your time there.â
âExcuse me?â Kyojuro was thinking he must have heard this guy wrongâŠ
âNo, seriously, bro. You ainât gonna get anywhere,â the guy laughed. âI took her out for coffee once and told her I would give her a ride home from class the next day. She wouldnât even give me a blow job, man. She told me to drop dead and ran away. Not even worth the time.â
âI believe that the problem in this situation is you, not Bri,â Kyojuro addressed him. âA cup of coffeeâs worth of a womanâs time and you think that you are somehow entitled to demand a blow job in exchange for a ride? Am I understanding this correctly?â
âOh, I see⊠you like her,â the man grinned with mirth. âI hope you have plenty of lotion buddy. Youâre gonna need it with her.â
âCease speaking to me and of Bri this instant, â Kyojuro said as he unbuttoned his cuffs and rolled back the sleeves early tonight. âThis is your one and only warning.â
âYouâre really willing to throw down over some prude bitch?â the man asked, not taking a hint.Â
Kyojuro laid him out with a punch. He knelt over him and picked him up by his shirt. He enjoyed the fear he saw in the manâs eyes. Good. Let him know she was protected and he would not tolerate anyone speaking of her like that.Â
The Hashira were not known to all by name so maybe this little shit did not realize she was Tengenâs sister. Maybe it was not some nefarious plot that he would know her name. Regardless of either, Kyojuro had now made it perfectly clear that she was protected and off limits. The man coughed on the blood pouring out of his nose.Â
âNever. Ever speak to or of Bri again. Her name is not to leave your lips. Do not go near her again. Or you will answer to me. Got it?â Kyojuro asked, getting even more in the manâs face.
âYâŠY⊠Yes sir!â the man nodded, eyes huge in fear.
Kyojuro dropped him so he thudded on the ground and stood up. He walked away before he could change his mind and beat the man into a bloody pulp like he truly wanted to do. It was not that he had pent up aggression or anger he needed to get out at the moment. It was a matter of someone speaking about a woman like that. Someone disrespecting Bri like that.
He shook his head and sighed as he walked in the door and headed to wash the blood off of his hand. He would probably hear about that altercation later. It was worth it.Â
As one of the 9 Hashira he answered directly to the Master. However, Himejima, the longest standing of the Hashira and personal guard for the Master was treated with damn near the same respect. He could put him in his place, but Kyojuro doubted he would.
The Hashira operated by each having specific jobs they oversaw for the Master. Kocho oversaw drugs and alcohol. Iguro was an expert at information extraction and worked closely with Kochoâs younger sister, Shinobu, to develop poisons and antidotes. Kanroji oversaw the Corpsâ restaurant and entertainment interests. Tomioka and Sabito worked with old man Urokodaki on all modes of transportation.Â
And then came the boogie men. Masachika, Shinazugawa, Uzui and Kyojuro himself were the Corpâs justice system. For members and business interests - They were each enforcer, jury, judge and oftentimes executioner. Whatever the Master needed or wanted them to be, they were.
Kyojuro scrubbed his hands and reminded himself again that it was a bad idea to get tangled up with a woman, especially Uzuiâs baby sister. The problem was he had thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with her. He wet his hands and washed his face, hoping to clear his thoughts. He needed to engage his Hashira mode. Time to become the Flame Hashira once again. He headed into the main room where other Hashira sat. Iguro nodded to him in greeting.Â
Uzui sat sprawled out on a couch with his head resting on the back. He lolled his head to look at Kyojuro as he entered the room. âSo, Rengoku, anything youâd care to talk about?â Uzuii asked.
âAbout what?â Kyojuro asked, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge and heading to sit down next to him.Â
âAbout why you just laid that kid out in the parking lot maybe?â Uzui asked, gesturing to the security stream on the screens covering the wall across from them.
Giyuu Tomioka, the Water Hashira came into the room as he asked. He took a seat on the couch opposite them and glanced at Kyojuro. His stare annoyed Kyojuro for some reason.
âAnything wrong, Tomioka?â He asked.
âI was waiting for your explanation before I asked my question,â Tomioka said, sitting back next to a mountain of a man named Gyomei Himejima, the leader of the Hashira.
Kyojuro wanted to go find that kid and punch him in his face again for putting him in this position. Though he supposed his own misplaced rage was part of it. He gave a smile, âNothing to be concerned about.â
âThis is out of character for you, Rengoku,â Himejima regarded him with concern.
âWhoâs Bri?â Tomioka asked
Uzuiâs head snapped to Kyojuro, gaze narrowed on him. âNow you better have more to say.â
âThe kid I punched is the one who did not give your sister a ride the other day,â Kyojuro answered. He was not even slightly worried about what Uzui would say to that.
âThatâs all youâre going to tell him?â Tomioka asked. The man was dense and nosey and had no sense of when to shut the hell up.Â
âIs there more?â Uzui asked, glaring at Tomioka.Â
âHe deserved the punch,â Tomioka shrugged before settling back against the couch with his usual sullen appearance.
âObviously, he ditched my sister.â
âBut he didnât ditch her,â Tomioka cocked his head confused.
Kyojuro sighed, he had been trying to avoid making a big deal about it. âEnough.â
Uzui narrowed his eyes on Kyojuro, his thoughts finally focusing on important parts of the conversation. Just lovely. âWhy would he be talking to you about Bri?â
Bri was awoken by a pounding on her door. She had fallen asleep on her couch watching TV. It was still dark out. Who the hell was it? She grabbed her phone for safety reasons and just happened to see a text from Tengen.
She went and opened the door for her brother with a glare. âWhat is your problem?â
âInside, now,â Tengen glared back.
She opened the door and let him in, shutting it behind him. âWhat has you so upset?â
âYou had dinner with Rengoku tonight, huh?â He asked, crossing his arms as he leaned against her counter and continued to glare.
âWhat business is that of yours?â she asked, cocking her head. âI can do what I want with who I want and when I want.â
âAnswer the question.â
âYes. I did,â she said, not allowing her brother to make her feel bad for what had honestly been the best part of her week if not month. Hell, maybe year!
âHowâd that come about?â he asked.
âIâm assuming youâve heard this from Kyojuro already?â Bri asked.
âNot quite, Iâll explain after you answer my question,â Tengen said.
âAniâŠâ
âNo. Bri. I want answers.â
She sighed and walked over to her couch and sat down, rubbing her face to wake herself more. âI was leaving the art supply store and I saw him about to cross the street. I called out to him and asked him if wanted to join me for dinner at Hinatsaruâs diner but he was heading in the opposite direction. There was a diner right there so we had dinner together. Thatâs it. Now, your turn. Speak.â
âAll I knew was the two of you went out to eat,â he said.
âAnd what? Did Kyojuro tell you?â It was better to know now if he was going to be like that. She didn't need a spy for her already nosey and overbearing older brother
Tengen saw the look on her face. She was now doubting Rengoku. His friend was a good guy and didnât deserve someone thinking anything bad about him. He was honestly Tengenâs only actual friend. In the broad scheme of things Bri could do worse by far and at least he would know she was safe. Rengoku was an absolute gentleman, even compared to him. âRengoku did not say a word about being with you, why he was with you or where you went.â
âThen how did you find out? Why did this come about?â she asked, gesturing to his presence now that he had calmed down a bit.Â
âI found out because he laid a kid out in the parking lot over a comment about you,â Tengen arched his brow at her.Â
âHuh?â Bri sat upright in shock. âWhat?â
âYeah, Tomioka overheard the exchange and asked questions,â it was mostly the truth.Â
âI donât know who Tapioca is but he should mind his own business.â
âI hope you know from now on I will only call him Tapioca.â
"I'd say it's well deserved! I hope it catches on! I hope it ruins his street cred!" Bri huffed and crossed her arms in annoyance at the situation. She had no clue what could have caused Kyojuro to snap like that but Tapioca needed to shut his big fat whore mouth.Â
Tengen groaned. His sister couldn't even make asking questions easy for him. Then again he had barged into her apartment in the middle of the night with no warning. He may have deserved a bit of the ire being thrown at him. Maybe. Tengen sighed. âApparently it was the guy who was supposed to give you a ride home the other day, princess.â
âOh, Kaigaku⊠that slug,â Bri grimaced and shook in revulsion. âWhat did the little troll say that got Kyojuro to knock him out?â
âWell first, apparently you failed to tell me the truth of what happened with your ride.â a dark shadow came over his features.
Bri sighed and looked down at her hands. She knew her brother would be mad and may act irrationally if he found out. But wait⊠How did that tie in? âTengen, answer me. What did he say to Kyojuro?â
âAccording to Tapioca, he told Rengoku that he didnât give you a ride home because you wouldnât give him a blow job.â
âThatâs⊠true.â
Tengen moved to sit next to her, taking a hand in his and squeezing it. âYou donât gotta be ashamed because a guy was a pig like that, you know?â
âIâm not ashamed. I didnât trust you not to beat his ass. Heâs a dumb college kid.â Tengen looked at her for more. âI shoved him off of me and got out of the car. Thatâs it.â Tengen wondered if Kyojuro knew about the âshoved him off of herâ part. He was willing to bet not since the kid was still breathing. For now. âHeâs a corps member with a gun. That situation could have gotten out of hand.â
âI didnât know that he was a member, Ani. But⊠I really thought he was an okay guy. I had been talking to him in class since the beginning of the year.â
âYou donât deserve to be treated like that. Iâm glad Rengoku knocked him out. I wish he would have kicked him in his ribs and stomped his balls too. Now THAT would have been flashy.â
âWhat did the guy say that caused Kyojuro to do that?â
âHe told Kyojuro he was wasting his time because you donât put out.â
She gave a dejected sigh. âIâm not a prude. I just donât think a guy is deserving of a blow job in exchange for a ride home after a single cup of shitty coffee.âÂ
âItâs not. No guy is deserving of a blow job until you decide they are,â Tengen said firmly as he took her in, watching as she pulled her knees up and rested her arms on them before putting her forehead on them.
âGuys in college suck, Tengen. Iâm tired of guys like this,â she said, her voice kinda muffled. âKyojuro is the first guy that treated me decently other than you since Daddy died.â
He made a noise of disgust and pulled her into his arms. He ruffled her hair and kissed the top of her head. âTell me the bad news. How much do you like him?â
âIâve only had one dinner with him, Tengen,â Bri sat back and wiped tears off her face. âOf Course now that he knows I donât put out easily heâll probably bounce too.â
âDonât be shitty,â Tengen told her with an annoyed glare. âHeâs a really good guy.â
âYouâre right, I was being shitty. He doesnât seem like that type of guy,â she gave her brother a small smile.
âHeâs not. I mean it, heâs a good guy. And a gentleman,â Tengen took one look at her lovesick face and sighed. âGreat. You like him a lot.â
âJust shut your stupid face,â Bri groaned and dropped her head to the side to rest it on the back of the couch. âYes. I like him a lot.â
âWhat made you call out to him?â Tengen asked, curious.
She shrugged. âIâm lonely. He seemed really nice when we met. And sorry to tell you, my precious big brother, but your friend is smokinâ hot. Like holy fuck, Kyojuro is hot.â
âDown girl. Donât make me get the hose.â Tengen laughed and reached over to ruffle her hair again. âYou could do a lot worse than a guy willing to knock another man out for speaking bad about you after one dinner. You have done worse. Way worse.â
âOh shut up,â she groaned, kicking him in the side gently. âShouldnât you be out committing crimes?â
âYeah⊠But I came by to talk with you first. I wanted to hear everything from you,â Tengen said. âAnd now Iâm hungry. Midnight pancakes?â
She smiled. âIâll go get dressed.â
âHey, princess!â Tengen called after her as she headed towards her room in the one bedroom apartment she had. She turned to look at him, waiting for a response. âI meant what I said. You could do a lot worse. He is a really good guy, a good person.â
âIs that your way of giving me some type of blessing?â she arched an eyebrow.
âYes, it is. Little Miss I do what I want when I want but secretly want my big brotherâs approval.â
âYouâre gonna make me throw up,â she said, walking away with a smile. Tengen knew and approved. She bit her lip. Hopefully sheâd hear from him againâŠ
Kyojuro put out his cigarette on the ground as Uzui pulled up in the black SUV they would be using for the night. While Uzui had gone to get the vehicle from Urokodaki, he had visited Haganzeka and Kanamori down in the armory, gathering some extras for this job that their normal weapons would not cover.Â
Kyojuro owned and expertly wielded a number of weapons - Guns, knives, swords, bow, crossbow, and more. He was an expert in hand to hand combat. These were all things that helped him reach Hashira by 18. Here he was now, 24 and a Hashira for 6 years.Â
He sighed as he lifted the duffle bag off the ground and got into the SUV. This was not where he ever dreamed of being, but it was where he was. It allowed him to pay his and Senjuroâs way.Â
It allowed him to send Senjuro to a good school in the next town and have money set into a trust fund for Senjuro, done under someone elseâs name so it could never be tied to him. Enough that no matter what, his younger brother would never want for anything again, even if something were to happen to him. He had a nice place, a nice car. So why did he feel like something was missing?
It wasnât until recently that he had felt this⊠incompleteness. He lit another cigarette as Uzui pulled out onto the road, talking about something Kyojuro had not heard a single word of.Â
He needed to get his head in the game. He could wallow in whatever this was later. Right now, he needed to be the Flame Hashira once again.
âYou went over the layout again, right?â Kyojuro asked his friend and fellow Hashira.Â
âYes, mom. I did my studying,â Uzui said in the tone of an annoyed teenager. âGosh!â
âGood, next do your laundry and clean your room,â Kyojuro took a long drag before blowing it out the window.
âYou should quit smoking,â Uzuii said, giving him a side glance.
âAre you now my mother?â Kyojuro asked, taking another long drag.
âNo. Iâm not. Though I do look good in an apron. However,â he glanced at Kyojuro again.
âHowever?â
âHowever I can tell you that Bri doesnât like the smell of cigarettes,â Uzui said, eyes back on the road.Â
Kyojuro mulled over his words in his mind and his response to them. He shouldnât care about that fact, but he did. Because if she did not like the way it smelled, she definitely would not like the way it tasted. And he definitely wanted to kiss her.Â
But that was probably not something to tell her behemoth of an older brother. âIâll keep that in mind.â
âAre you interested in her?â Uzui asked, eyes still on the road. âIâm asking as your friend and her older brother. Because she likes you, Rengoku. You made her happy when you had dinner with her. And I like seeing her happy. So, Iâm not against it. Iâm not necessarily for it. But I want to know where you stand. Is she just a friend or-â
âUzui, we had one dinner together,â Kyojuro answered with more force than he meant to, earning him a side eye from the big brother next to him. He hadnât wanted to delve into those feelings and thoughts tonight, but here he was.Â
Better to clear the air before they got to the job site, he supposed. âYes, Uzui. I like Bri. And yes⊠I am interested in her. I really enjoyed our dinner the other night as well. She is very warm and very bright. Sheâs witty. Sheâs beautifulâŠâ
âYeah, what can I say. My sister is almost as flashy as I am! A total catch,â Uzui said in his normal playful tone.Â
âBut Uzui, we are colleagues and friends. We know the ugly truth of what eachother does for a profession,â Kyojuro sucked in a long drag.
âYeah, we are and we do,â Uzui said. âAnd yet I still told her, just like I am telling you, if you guys decide itâs something you want to do, go for it. But if you are taking the princess out, you better take her out somewhere nice.â
âI wouldnât dream of doing otherwise.â Kyojuro was honestly a tad offended but he reminded himself that Uzui was just being an older sibling.Â
âYou better protect her with your life.â
âYou already know that I will.â
âJust remember, Rengoku. You break your heart, Iâll break your neck.â
âI would never. And I would expect no less,â Kyojuro smirked as he spoke. âAnd as for the neck breaking⊠you could try.â
Uzui turned and gave him a giant grin full of mischief. âAlright, got that off my chest. Now that us two gentlemen are done having that heart to heart⊠let's go be bad guys!âÂ

So I rewatched Yuukaku episode 9 for depression science reasons and I noticed something interesting :
When Inosuke uses the "Explosive Rush" in the battle against Daki, while Tanjiro and Zenitsu are covering him, he doesn't use his usual "kiba/fang" before the attack's name. He actually says "hachi no kata", instead of "hachi no kiba" as he would usually say.
The only usual occurence of this happens when he uses the seventh, "Spatial Awareness", which is always a "form" and not a "fang" (the wiki has that listed correctly too). I assumed that was intentional from Inosuke, because that form is the only part of Beast Breathing that isn't meant for attack, so it would make sense that he sets it apart from the rest. The eight one, however, ought to be always be fang because it's probably the most beastly one of all, where Inosuke rushes headlong without a care for the enemy's attacks.
So why would he call it a "form" here? Why would he suddenly revert to the word that every other slayer uses, when he's always so proud of being different from the rest of them?
I believe that it's all in the context. Never before has Inosuke so voluntarily entrusted his life to someone else, let alone to two humans. At this very moment, Inosuke entirely lowers his guard so he can focus on only one thing: attack, attack, attack. His life is out of his own hands.
He is one of them. He's a member of the Corps, he's a member of a crew. Zenitsu and Tanjiro are not only his underlings, they are his comrades. His trusted companions.
Inosuke doesn't feel the urge to set himself apart. If anything, he desperately, more than ever before in his life, need to belong. He's spent the entire battle hearing about their forms, and all of a sudden, when teamwork has never mattered more and he's launching an attack alongside his two best friends, simultaneously... he doesn't need to set himself apart anymore. And that's how his subconcious brings forth a form rather than a fang at this specific moment. He reverts to a fang right after, when he reaches Daki's neck.
Either that, or his voice actor got confused. We'll never know ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
EDIT: WE KNOW!!!!!
ITS NOT AN ERROR!!!! he says "kata" in the manga too â„â„â„ the headcanon LIVES!!
i'm so sorry for doubting you matsuoka-san ;w; pretty much every translation I've found said "fang" sobs why would you erase this little tidbit!!!!
#inside the boar's mind / musings#[[you know what? putting this in the tags Because I Can#i lvoe him so much. he has SO much development throughout the series and everyone is sleeping on it!!!!!!!#look at him look at his little heart developing so much through this battle alone ;w;]]#kimetsu no yaiba#hashibira inosuke#kny#demon slayer
