I know what you mean. I haven't read the manga or watched the 2006 live action movies too and only vaguely remember the 2015 japanese drama. I've only watched the anime twice (episode 25 only once because I legitimately couldn't handle L's death scene again, I was inconsolable the first time)

The only death note content I consistently return to is the musical but even then the final song breaks me every time. It's hard to watch content where your fave dies over and over again.

But L: Change the World is a lot more light hearted. Even the ending is more bittersweet than heartwrenching. I'd recommend it if you want L content in that kind of setting. There WILL be tears but tbh it's more of a feel good movie for L than anything else. I'm actually planning to rewatch it for christmas! ♡

rewatching death note right now and I haven't watched an episode in months because it's post-25 and I know how Light ends (which is why I pushed through the first time). uhh L is my number one comfort and favourite character and he's the only one whose death I've actually watched (I love charas from kny for example but I haven't watched past season two) I did love the musical!! gosh, musical L has my heart twice over and I thought it might end differently for some reason... the whole gun and all.. I ended up sobbing. honestly I'd recommend it more than the anime I loved the actors and the songs so much and the whole changeover of who the main "antagonist" was (considering the series is from Light's perspective) didn't happen

but in this case I will DEFINITELY watch Change the World if I can find somewhere to watch it (I'm in Australia 🦘🫡)

To add my own scatterbrained ramble, some general and highly petty complaints beneath the cut—

You know what bothers me? Fandom, and ESPECIALLY official material, not romanizing the long vowels in characters' names correctly. It drives me insane because, y'know, you need to know that to pronounce names the right way. >:( I hate when I spell a character's name the way I see that the fandom does, then look it up and find out I was missing a long vowel. Ugh.

And on that note, when fandoms can't decide whether to refer to characters by their given or family names. Even more so when a singular person either can't make up their mind or just plain doesn't know the difference. The KnY fandom is AWFUL on both of those points, and yes, I know how particular I'm being.... -w-

[i turned on anon by accident.] it's basically a mix of kny/demon slayer and undertale. Frisk is the protag and their twin sibling Chara was turned into a demon, so they are looking for a cure to change them back to a human.

My best friend is my twin sister!!!!!! She has very pale skin, red hair (natural), blue eyes and lots of freckles!!! She’s very smart, she’s fluent in 4 languages and can speak, read and write in many more!!!, she’s the complete opposite to me in terms of style and the way we talk but that’s what makes our twin bond even better!!!!! She’s been getting into anime lately I got her into KNY and she’s been drawing fan art for it (she’s also an artist!!!
