★ A chilly breeze sneaked under the collar of your jacket as you whipped your head to the back. You swore there was something, like a presence, lingering on the peripheries of your vision. Maybe a falling leaf? When was it that summer kissed you goodnight and this cold started to creep closer and closer to the warmth of your home. A shiver runs down your spine when you step inside your house. It's so cozy here. Your skin soaks the warmth. Outside, through your window you see rustling leaves and carved out pumpkins. Suddenly, your eyes land on a box. It sits atop a table. The note attached to it reads

Box number one

The box is silky, with tiny sharp sequins sheathed into the material. It's dark purple with a hint of green

Box number two

The box is rough to the touch, entirely out of dark wood. When you put it close to your ear, you swear you can hear something. There is a purple mist seeping from the cracks in the uneven planks

Box number three

The box is roughly packed and has stains on it. It smells of something spicy, a tinge you can’t quite figure out but it is strangely alluring

Box number four

The box is soft and red with a single gem nested on top of it. It looks rich but somehow makes you think of loneliness

Box number five

The box is smooth and black save for a few drops of dry wax. Has someone been lighting a candle next to it?

Box number six

The box is made out of colorful paper. Once it may have been beautiful but time certainly bit this one.

Box number seven

The box is coated with fine leather. Swirling leaf-like patterns are carved out on its sides. It has a golden emblem that looks unlike anything you’ve ever seen

The box is wrapped in newspaper, secured with a string. It smells like fresh ink and old paper. What a strange combination

The box is shaped like a Halloween pumpkin. It looks like something you could thrift. What a funny littler thing. Maybe you should put it on your windowsill
