#knowing danm well the demons Scourge is fighting inside his own mind

Scourge in that state would put off a lot of people he’s known in his life. And if they try to get into the root of his problem, they’re not going to understand where the actual fuck he’s coming from. Because to them, it never happened in the first place. 

“But I know it happened. I was there, I could feel it.” Scourge who is trembling violently, staggering towards the person, feeling angry and hurt at their utter refusal to believe him. 

Thus he feels even more isolated and justified to stay awake as long as possible. 

(Idk if Sonic should actually know or be ignorant like everyone else would be. Even so I don’t think he would be able to help Scourge, he’s got his own people to look after, and will absolutely prioritize their safety over his issues anyway. It’ll be terrible either way, knowing that your worst enemy is the indirect cause of your severe mental breakdowns.) 

So yeah, he’s burned some bridges for sure because of this shit. The one of the few I see sticking with Scourge through all this would be Mayhem. Mainly because he wouldn’t ditch someone at their worst, not like how his siblings did to him. And that’s his brother suffering too, man! But he’s not entirely good at this helping thing and talking about it seems to get them nowhere, so he helps either by slipping in some sleeping pills in his food or drinks, makes him drink booze, reassures him that they’ll both be here even if Scourge goes to sleep, or in desperate situations immediately deck him unconscious with no warning. 

He’s gotten hurt a couple of times for sure, but to him, what’s a couple bites compared to the living hell that Scourge is going through? He may not understand entirely, yet the pain is still very real to his brother so he’s gonna try his best to be there for him when he can be.

Hecc yes, Mayhem is gonna throw himself into a burning building if he has to safe his brother-from-another-mother. Scourge helped his ass out when he was in the dumps and Mayhem is there for him and even more. Not that his helping does much, but he can't go an leave Scourge behind like that. He's one of the people sticking besides him even after the end.

Even though Scourge hurts him, mentally and physically, putting him through the ringer as well, the bond he shares with him is one of unconditional brotherly love.

At some point, Sonic would try to convince Mayhem to drop Scourge, that he's beyond helping and a lost cause. Mayhem would defend Scourge, telling Sonic, "What the hell kind of brother do you take me for? Abandoning pieps in their worst moment of need is more your style."
