Mara’s fingers fluttered over Xavier’s pulse, trying to coax him back into consciousness by sheer will power.  “Come on, come on.  Now would be a great time for you to be awake.”  They slapped his face gently.  “Remember.  You don’t get paid to sleep.”

Xavier groaned but didn’t wake.

“This was your idea,” Mara growled.  “I’m not doing all the work for you.”  They could hear the Director’s army approaching.  Time was running out.

“Please, Xavier.  Please.” 

“You did not strike me as the sentimental type.”  The Director stared coldly down their nose.  “I thought better of you.”

“Like hell you did,”  Mara ground out.  They fought as several hands pried them away from their partner.  They found brief satisfaction in the sound of their elbow cracking someone’s bone before they were subdued with a knife under their chin.

“That is enough,” the Director said.  They glanced at Xavier as he was taken away then turned a smug look on Mara.  “This was a terrible idea.  I am surprised you let him go through with it.”

Mara bared their teeth.  “I didn’t let him -”

“I will allow you to see it through,” the Director said. “You have a choice.”

Mara stilled.

“You can finish your partner’s foolhardy plan to release those things,” the Director spat out the word, never comprehending the complexity of the beings.  “Or you can save him. I am sure you will make the right decision, but do not take too long.”

The soldiers dropped Mara abruptly, exchanging the knife for a kick under their chin, heavy boots stepping on their limbs. 

“It is your choice,” The Director said, their voice soft, mocking.  “Come and save them.”

Mara could say nothing as a final blow sent them into darkness.

Mmmm car crash. I definitely think it’s one of my favourite whump tropes.

From the upcoming fic in my series A Compendium Of Palaces! I try to avoid giving spoilers as much as possible, so only short excerpts! I’m excited to post this story!

Ren saw Ryuji’s eyes dart to his hand, saw him start to take a step back as he realized what he was holding.

But it was too late. With his free hand, Ren punched Ryuji in the throat. His mouth reflexively dropped open, doubling over as he coughed. Slipping behind him, Ren tilted Ryuji’s head up and pinched his nose, other hand cramming the small vial of Sleep past his lips. “Shh, don’t fight it,” he murmured.

Ryuji’s eyes were wide, staring at Ren with betrayal as he struggled, trying to get free. His face darkened as his body demanded air, deepening to a horrible blue.

Finally, after several, agonizing seconds, Ryuji was forced to swallow. His eyes filled with tears before drooping. His body seemed to wilt to the floor, unconscious within seconds.

Ceux-ci l'abandonnèrent inconscient à cet endroit où il fut retrouvé plus tard par un passant.

Meloholic - End of Episode 9 and Beginning of Episode 10

These scenes are from Meloholic (2017). It isn't the greatest drama, and there isn't a lot of whump, but then we get this little gem at the end of the series.

The series itself is about Yoo Eun-Ho who can read the minds of women by placing touching hands. This has made it difficult for him to date when people's thoughts, and what they say, don't align. He ends up meeting and falling in love with Ye-Ri and soon realizes that there are two people inside her mind.

It is overflowing with clichés and, as a whole, isn't that great of a drama and there's not much whump. That being said these clips in the last two episodes are worth a glance!
