Big Blue Bus
The Big Blue Bus is a 1979 double decker bus that has been converted into a pizzeria. The Big Blue Bus is currently located at The Avon Resort in Blessington. It serves delicious gourmet stone baked pizza, bruschetta, and garlic bread all made with local produce.
The Bus operates on a takeaway/collection and delivery service while also providing seating on the second level of the bus and more seating outside which can still be currently used with COVID-19 restrictions.
You may have spotted the Big Blue Bus previously as it can travel from location to location and often appears at festivals throughout Ireland including Life Fest, Barn Dance, Knockanstockan, Body & Soul, Samhain and Electric Picnic. The top deck of the bus can also be hired for private events or parties.
The Big Blue Bus provides a number of different vegetarian, vegan and low gluten options as well as having new pizzas introduced through their weekly specials.
The Bus also offers free pizza to two randomly selected names each week so be sure to check their official Instagram @thebigbluebuspizzeria to see what names they have chosen each week!

The Cream of Dublin's Music Scene.
by Niamh McGoldrick
Dublin's music scene at the moment is getting me giddy. Every week I'm spoiled with far too many gigs to go to. How so much talent can be crammed into one city is beyond me, I mean it's nearly overwhelming. To stuff all of it into one post is near impossible, so here are 5 bands/artists that you absolutely have to listen to if you know what's good for your soul... Just click on the names. Godspeed.
♡ TOOFOOLS Have you ever heard a song that gives your hips a mind of their own? Would you like to? Give Toofools a listen. This is a project started by two lads (insanely talented multi-instrumentalists, but lads all the same) having some craic with macbooks, that got way out of hand. With slick production and performances as tight as a student's rollie, their songs are packed with groove and sexy, sexy undertones. This summer they've bagged slots at Electric Picnic and Body & Soul, as well as headlining Knockanstockan.
♡ FARAH ELLE Not a band, but this gal has me singing words I don't understand, which is very cool. Smushing ska, RnB, hip hop and some Arabian melismas together, Farah Elle delivers a sound that...Probably nobody else is able to deliver. Her silky voice is actually addictive and will leave you hitting the repeat button again and again and again and again and again and again and you get the idea.
♡ HARE SQUEAD 3 Tallaght/Blanch boyyyyzsh making serrrious waves. I imagine it would be difficult to find someone who doesn't enjoy the sonic sex that is Hare Squead. (Pronounced 'hair skwed'). Their set at Electic Picnic being hands down the best of the weekend. With the crowd in the palm of their hands, they weaved it into a wall of death where I lost my phone and (nearly) my limbs...Needless to say a Hare Squead gig is not one to miss, but for now, give your ears a lil treat and listen to 'Herside Story'.
♡ SPUDGUN MUSIC BAND Just some alien dudes who want to give us earthlings a taste of what it's like in outer space with their psychadelic funky melty tunes. For the past year, it's been non-stop gigging for these extra-terrestrial beings, they've marked their territory in seemingly every pub/club in Dublin along with slots at Electric Picnic and Knockanstockan...So they're very very very good at it. A Spudgun show means leaving reality at the door for a while; expect lots of facepaint, lots of glitter and lots of beautiful stories about travelling through the galaxy. So if you're ever in the mood to be blasted off to boron 5 via ear-buds, I urge you to listen to their sweet space goo.
♡ WASTEFELLOW Also not a band, but an experimental producer from Dubland who makes spacey, gorgeous sounds that seem like they should be in one of those Missguided ads. A Wastefellow gig will probably make you feel like you're in an avant-garde art exhibition rather than a pub gig. Pop your headphones in and melt away in some sweet experimental electro soundssss.

Irish future-soul five-piece Shookrah release their self-titled album Shookrah
Irish future-soul five-piece Shookrah release their self-titled album Shookrah on 25 October via Broken Records. Previous single ‘Notions’ premiered on Variance Magazine, and immediately received support from RTÉ 2FM. Shookrah were named Best Act of 2017 and 50 People to Watch in 2018 by The Irish Times. They have seen substantial press support from the likes of The Irish Examiner, AFROPUNK, Wonderland Magazine, Clash Magazine, Music Week, District Magazine, Nialler9, Made in Shoreditch Magazine, and Surviving The Golden Age. Shookrah have received airplay from BBC’s Radio Ulster, and their track ‘Gerascophobia’ was named BBC Ulster’s Across The Line track of the day. Racking up nearly 300K streams on digital platforms they shared the stage with Billy Ocean on his Irish tour and have played Body & Soul Festival, Electric Picnic, Wigwam, Quarter Block Party, Other Voices Music Trail, and Knockanstockan Festival. Based in Cork, Ireland, the band has gone from strength to strength and Shookrah are positioning themselves as important pioneers in the blossoming urban music scene since their 2013 inception. Shookrah is the combined talents of Senita Appiakorang (lead vocals), Emmet O'Riabhaigh (drums), Daniel Coughlan (guitar), Diarmait Mac Carthaigh (keyboard) and Brian Dunlea (bass guitar), each member bringing their own unique style and set of influences to the table. Serving fresh helpings of synth-grooves, interruptive hooks and dystopian romance-themed songs their sound sits somewhere between neo-soul and the emerging schools of R&B/Soul that define themselves as ‘Future Soul’. Influences include the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, Anderson .Paak and The Internet, with a sound that can be likened to that of Solange, meets Robert Glasper and Thundercat. Shookrah is a sonic snapshot of a shared moment between a group of true creatives, documenting their artistic growth. Whether the specifics involve loving someone or letting go, Shookrah effortlessly holds to a mood with seamless transitions in between. Groovy instrumental contributions serve as a framework for rich, smooth vocals - every element brushed with seductive audacity. Speaking of the album, the band comments: “It's been a long road leading to this album, 6 years and a host of members dwindling down to the core 5 we have today. It's a time capsule; of where we are in the world right now, of where we've arrived in our sound and understanding of who Shookrah are. There's been significant learning for us in it, which I think will inform we respectively go in our music careers and as an ensemble. We hope the tireless love of making it translates through." "This album was over a year in the making, with intensive writing and arranging happening for months before going into the studio with Brendan Fennessy (O Emperor) to record. We wanted to go down the route of ruthlessly cutting songs that didn't make the cut, cutting all the fat and narrowing it down to ten tunes." Stay tuned for imminent updates on Shookrah’s 2020 European Tour. Read the full article
