You took your phone out of your bag to check the time as you walked towards the school gym. If you remembered correctly, Atsushi's basketball practice should have ended around five minutes ago. It was the last practice session of a very busy season, so he'd promised to take you out as soon as it was finished. When you asked where, he said it was a surprise and that he'd take you there after practice. The more you thought about spending the evening with your beloved boyfriend after a few weeks of barely seeing him outside of school, the giddier you felt. When you finally reached the gym and pushed the door open, you saw Atsushi talking with the other members of the generation of miracles as they walked out of the changing room. Even though most members of the generation of miracles were pretty tall, Murasakibara still managed to tower over them. He'd changed out of his basketball kit and into a loose fitting black shirt with short sleeves and grey sweatpants. His hair was also up- he knew that was a weakness of yours. You didn't mind that he dressed more casually- in fact, as you checked out his long, toned arms, you realised how much you liked it. As soon as Murasakibara saw you standing and starin at the door, he smiled slightly and walked over to you.

Whenever Murasakibara has free time, he spends it with Y/N, and he always takes every opportunity to text them during practice. Akashi has noticed it too. While I normally wouldn't condone dating within a friendship group, their signs are perfectly matched," Midorima explained, a triumphant look on his face, while Akashi stood there silently. You hadn't expected much of a reaction from him, because you realised on some level he'd always known, and had given you and Atsushi small windows of time in which you could meet and talk all throughout the last basketball season. When you'd thanked him for all his help, he'd just nodded and smiled slightly.

You listened and tried to hold in your laughter as Aomine and Midorima began to squabble over his remark. These guys were idiots, but they were your idiots. They'd been your best friends since middle school and you were glad that you finally had the opportunity to share this with them. Kise finally broke the spat, smiling in your direction as he spoke.

"Yeah, you guys really weren't as discreet as you thought. I mean, Murasakibaracchi literally has a picture of you in his basketball jersey as his phone lockscreen. Anyway, though I agree with Aominecchi that this is slightly unfair, I wish you two all the best. You look really cute together, as well as being well matched,"

"Yeah," Kuroko agreed, smiling at you as you blushed.

"Now that you know, I'd appreciate it if you stopped wasting our time. I'm taking Y/N on a date tonight. Also, keep your hands to yourselves. Y/N is mine," he said, glaring at Aomine and Kise. You smiled up at him, your heart beating faster as he revealed this new possessive side to his nature. He squeezed you a little before hoisting you over his shoulder as if you weighed nothing.

"Wha- Atsushi ! What do you think you're doing ?" you asked, squirming in his grasp playfully.

I've got some more chronic Akashi brainrot for y'all...

I had re-watched parts of Last Game not too long and I remember the scene after Team Vorpal Swords won when Riko's dad bought a bunch of snacks and drinks for everyone to celebrate. While eating, Midorima asked Akashi (referring to the haphazard way snacks were spread across the table), "Are you sure you're okay with something so sloppy, Akashi?" And Akashi looked at him and said, "What are you talking about? We used to sit around and celebrate like this in middle school all the time."

It really stuck in my head for a reason I kinda mentioned the other day, when I was talking about Akashi's dynamic with Hayama. I won't explain that entire post, but I was mainly discussing how Hayama is touchy with Akashi but Akashi never minds, and the last sentence of my post regarding that was, "Akashi seems to be very unfazed whenever he's manhandled by his Rakuzan teammates which shows that he was never really that uptight about people touching him to begin with and people just assumed he was". This brings me to the main topic of this post: Akashi Seijuro and the assumptions the KNB cast has about his personality.

As I love to point out on this godforsaken app, Akashi has been done dirty by every adult in his life with the exception of his mother. So much of what went wrong in his 3rd year at Teiko was due to high expectations and the idea that Akashi was not allowed to be anything less than perfect at whatever he did, but at the root of all of this are assumptions.

False assumptions that he was able to handle such a heavy workload. False assumptions that he was ready to be captain in his second year. False assumptions that he was coping with stress well. False assumptions that he wasn't already cracking before he even enrolled in Teiko. He was let down so many times by so many people because people assumed he was okay when he wasn't and hadn't been for YEARS.

And I think it's a big reason as to how and why the rest of the Teiko gang unintentionally isolated Akashi back in middle school. They put Akashi on a pedestal and assumed that there was some sort of invisible barrier between him and the rest of the team. In the same way when, during Last Game, Midorima assumed Akashi would stick his nose up at... eating chips and drinking juice with the homies... everyone has this idea that Akashi is more haughty than he actually is? Akashi isn't haughty at all. In fact, the Replace Plus Chapters highlight the fact that he's the complete opposite. This boy saved a baby in one chapter, and as the mother of the baby profusely thanks him, he says "Anyone could have done that." As if he didn't showcase superhuman reaction time and reflexes by pulling a baby out of a runaway stroller coming down a hill at high speed right before the stroller was obliterated by an oncoming truck. 💀

These assumptions make even less sense when Akashi has already shown people how much he doesn't want to be put on a pedestal. Again, back to the scene in Last Game, Midorima assumed Akashi wouldn't be down for the "sloppy" afterparty, but Akashi had to remind Midorima that they'd already done things like that in middle school. Momoi has cute nicknames for every member of the Teiko gang except Akashi, who she refers to simply as "Akashi-kun". Maybe that was her assuming Akashi would never accept being called by a cute nickname. Never mind the fact that he already was being addressed as "Akashicchi" and "Aka-chin" by Kise and Murasakibara, respectively, and then later was being addressed as "Sei-chan" by Mibuchi. And you can't even argue that she didn't want to make Akashi uncomfortable, because Midorima has outwardly expressed before that he didn't wanna be called "Midorin" but Momoi just kept calling him that.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're shitty friends for doing this. I just think that there was a lack of communication within the Teiko gang, and in an attempt to respect what they assumed were Akashi's boundaries, they unintentionally excluded Akashi from activities that he would absolutely participate in if he had just been given the chance.

This post is long asf so I'll just conclude here, but one of my delusional headcanons for the Teiko gang post-Extra Game is that Akashi becomes more open with them about how he feels and also about wanting to be included in more of their activities, and so he finally gets to experience having a regular hangout with friends like a regular teenager. I just think he deserves that so bad after feeling alone for so many years.

Let me just say first, to imagine that this man doesn't already know how to speak Chinese is kinda hard

Like as the heir of an important family, he has to speak multiple languages

So in his case, I'd say it's more that he's not fluent in Chinese more than him actually not speaking of word of it

In any case, he makes it his mission to resolve that communication issue

Language? That'll never be a barrier for him

See, Seijurō speaks gentleman

No need for you to know what he's saying or vice-versa because boy literally doesn't have to talk to treat you like a queen, yk?

But sometimes you kinda have specific demands and there he actually has to listen and translate

Because he's a genius, the little Chinese he already knows + his ability of picking on context cues help him understand you without much translation needed

It got to the point where the team thought you were ashamed of your body, which led to a little intervention where they sat you down and started listing things that they liked about your personality, much to your confusion. They got really into it too: tearing up by the end. It was only until Kuroko muttered "You don't have to feel insecure around us, ok?" that you realised what they were trying to do.

"Why are you laughing?"

"Because that's not the reason I wear long sleeves!" you laugh out, clutching your stomach. "I thought you guys were trying to kick me out nicely!"

"...So what is the reason?" Koganei asks, Mitobe nodding along.

You chuckle a little more, still amused thinking about how long they must've been thinking this way.

"...Don't snitch."

The moment you pull up your sleeve, their eyes widen in disbelief...

...and not long after, the questions come flooding in.

"Is that a lizard?"

"Idiot, it's a dragon."

"Does this mean you're in a gang?"

"I thought the age to get a tatoo in Japan was 20."

"How did you get that?"

"Is it real?"

You chuckle once more, used to this kind of reaction.

"I lived in America, and the state laws were pretty soft on tattoos as long as you have writte consent from an adult. Got my first one a year ago, and now we're here."

Some turned to Kagami for some kind of confirmation on those laws, but he just shrugged, equally as shocked as they were.

Anyway, the events of the big tattoo reveal were 4 months ago, and it's still funny to look back on, even in the backseat of Kagetora's car, as you talk with Riko.

"But really, I never thought you'd have an arm covered in ink."

You laugh again, before putting on a cheeky grin.

"If you thought that was unbelievable, you have more to look forward to." you snicker, reading her confused reaction. She scans your outfit for stray areas of revealed skin, but to no avail.

"The hell are you planning..."

As you turn up at the beach, helping to unload the basketball hoops from Kagetora's boot, you see some familiar faces waving in the distance.

"Y/N-chii! Over here!" yells Kise, soon met with Aomine's palm to the back of his head.

"Moron, we're in public, you know." utters Midorima, pushing up his glasses.

Akashi and Murasakibara sit at a bench; one studying the antics and dynamics of the other three, the other chomping on a box of ice pops.

"Hey, I wasn't expecting to see all of you guys here." you say, impaling the pole of the hoop into the sand.

"Kuroko invited us, I assume we can stay?" Akashi replies.

You nod, smiling. "Of course! We're just waiting on the him and the others now."

Riko grunts, "Seriously, how can you invite people and then be the person who's late!" she exclaims, kicking the sand in an animalistic manner, earning a few confused glances from the others.

You laugh a little, before turning away, bag in hand.

"I'm just going to change into my beachwear, I'll be back soon."

"MAKE IT QUICK!" Riko yells, as you nod.

During your outfit change, the Seirin team turns up, jumping off the bus.

Immediately, Kuroko is met by a slap to the back of the head.

"Kuroko! If you wanna invite guests, tell your coach first!"

Kuroko mutters a little apology, timidly side-stepping away from her.

Eventually, a match begins. The Generation of Miracles on one, the Seirin team on the other.

Aomine gets a steal early on, before realising he can't dribble.

"Aomine-chii! Pass to me, don't just stand there, what are you looking at?" yells Kise, before his eyes land on you, jogging over with a more comfortable outfit for the heat.

"Hey, have you guys already started playing?"

Everybody just stares.

"...Hello?"

Riko is the first to say something.

"Lord."

There you stand, both arms littered with tattoos, along with ink traced along you collarbone and across your back. And don't forget the thighs.

"...What?" You ask, confused by the sudden attention.

Kuroko's eyes are just a little wider than usual, as he says, "I thought you only had one tattoo." You shrug, "Well, I didn't say I only had one tattoo."

Akashi squints his eyes at you from a distance, scrutinising you with his gaze.

"They look nice."

Aomine makes a point to act unbothered, but inside, he's freaking out. "oh my god they're a gang member i'm literally gonna get my ass beat holy shit i'm not ready i haven't even won an oscar before oh jesus i can't die like this i'm too young"

Kise on the other hand is very loud, commenting on all sorts of things, “Did you get those done here? In America? I have a fellow model with a similar design to that!”

Murasakibara just stares like a confused child, just glad that you’re here so that he doesn’t have to move around as much.

Midorima is also a member of team act unbothered, but backs up a bit. Not that he thinks that there's anything explicably wrong with having tattoos, but more so that Oha Asa predicted that "Cancers, watch out! You may encounter something or somebody dangerous today!". In hindsight, it was a ridiculous action to take; you'd always been so kind and welcoming to him and his team in previous matches and practice games, but we wasn't going to take the chance.

Kiyoshi is the first, and only person to laugh; he also laughed when you showed the team your first tattoo, he just finds these kinds of situations amusing.

Hyuuga and Kagami take the scolding route, half-heartedly berating you as you look at them kind of confused, they don't really mean anything, they just don't know how to respond to this kind of thing.

Izuki finds a way to crack a joke about the whole affair, much to the surprise of absolutely nobody.

Mitobe and Koganei compare notes scrawled on a little pad.

"Ha! I predicted it! 7 tattoos!" Koganei exclaims, as Mitobe sighs softly and hands him a ¥1000 note.

You giggle and clap your hands together.

"Let's continue the match!"

@pinkreveluv6 i worry my reply might reach its limit, so here’s my response as to why i like kiyoshi and kagami in a post! :

hmm i don’t really have a solid answer, i just like their dynamic. after szn 2’s first games (vs. shutoku and vs. kirisaki daiichi) where we see kiyoshi in official games for the first time, i liked kagami’s reactions to him. teaming up to block midorima, kagami finally having support on the inside rather than seirin swapping btwn him and mitobe, kiyoshi’s overall dependability on the court. to me they’re two sides of the same coin in a game: kiyoshi isn’t as outwardly aggressive as kagami when he’s playing center, but he’s definitely tough whereas kagami is, from the get-go, very obviously someone to keep an eye on because of how brash he is.

knb generally doesn’t have much one-on-one interaction off the court unless it’s practice, a flashback, or two characters making some sort of pledge, so thinking of kykg interactions off-court is where things get flexible with them. kiyoshi is very much an older brother figure, and i think kagami needs that! of the few people we’ve seen capable of getting kagami out of his head, kiyoshi has been one of those and has done it with the least words (i.e. just patting his head)

overall, kuroko’s basketball has a lot of boys will be boys relationships, friendly or platonic. by which i mean: we see friendships develop through the course of them spending time together, and gradually see everyone become comfortable with their respective teams. kiyoshi and kagami, in particular, have chemistry from defending the inside together and from the aforementioned wordless comfort. i feel that’s something that can easily be translated into interactions off-court.

edit/add-on: from this, you can probably gather there’s not much of them that’s super obvious (as compared to kagakuro, aokise, midotaka, etc.) so as a writer, that = freedom. with popular ships, there’s a lot that has been done already and while any new take on a trope is wonderful, kiyokaga is one of those that’s able to have a first. from having their first AU - worldbuilding, new characters, added traits, maybe even magic - to having their first ficlet tagged lazy morning.

there’s a lot of material that’s not there, and that’s one of the things i like the most.

Akashi, The Gentleman

Without a doubt, Akashi would semi-successfully push his feelings for you aside and attempt chivalry. He will offer the bed to you and have a backup plan for himself in mind. I think mostly, he wouldn’t want to overstep the bounds of the friendship you already have, and would be careful to not let his feelings for you cloud his better judgement and your comfort.

And you… well. I don’t think you’d want to force him to sleep on the floor. You’d reason to yourself and to him that there’s plenty of room for you both, that there’s no worry about close proximity making things feel weird. And you’d believe it until you feel the sheets moving with each breath he takes and feel the warmth radiating from his body so strongly that you swear it burns your skin.

Akashi is all you can smell and hear and feel and see. He’s a foot away from you and still overhauling your senses. Under his cloud, you reason: it’s kind of cold. Surely it wouldn’t be a big deal if you closed the distance. Right. He can’t be upset with you. Right? Right.

Right?

Without taking the time to talk yourself out of it, you press yourself against him and to your absolute shock, surprise, and excitement, he wraps his arm around you comfortably and tucks you into his side. He squeezes your arm, almost like a silent question: is this okay?

Your response comes in the form of nuzzling closer to him and making yourself comfortable: yes.

Hanamiya, The Menace

Listen. I hate him so much (no I don’t). He sprawls out in the bed and takes great pains to ignore you for a few minutes before his eyes slyly slide over to you and he quirks his brow with a smirk on his lips and says something like:

“You gonna lay down or stand there?” And when you make a face at him, trying to hide the reaction his words have on your body, his smirk grows and his eyes glint with mischief and he says, “don’t give me that look, darlin’.”

Your heart is hammering in your chest and your face feels hot because really he’s so fucking annoying and irritation sparks in your veins but it isn’t really because he’s so insufferable, and you know that- you know the irritation is jolting you because you like it and you like him and you like when he fucks with you and it makes you feel soft and gooey and hot like lava.

You try to avoid him. Really, you do. But the way he’s sprawled out makes it impossible to not be against his body somehow, so you settle with your back facing him, curled onto your side in the space between his arm and leg, spread wide like a starfish. Your head isn’t even on a pillow.

The closeness is so much for you. You swear you feel his eyes on you, raking over your skin inch by inch.

And then he starts touching you. It’s almost timid at first and you try to ignore the way his forearm fucks up your hair, feigning sleep with all your might, but you can’t ignore it anymore when you feel his weight shift as he rolls toward you, other hand sliding onto your thigh.

He takes your stillness as permission. And he wraps his arm firmly around your waist and pulls your back to his chest, fully enveloping you in his embrace. There’s no escaping him now. You wiggle a bit, trying to see how tightly he’s got you, when he pulls you right back.

“Stop moving,” he mumbles, eyes closed but fully awake, “I’m sleeping.”

And he wraps his leg up and over both of yours and there’s no hope for you to move.

Kise, The Flirt

He doesn’t even try to hide the fact that he’s thrilled. Kise looks at you, eyes gleaming and warm with a big smile on his face and coos your little nickname and says, “isn’t it wonderful we get to spend the night together?”

You hate how his words clearly mean multiple things. And on cue, you feel warm and bashful as the meaning of his words wash over you. Honestly, it’s rude.

“Watch it, or you’ll sleep on the floor.”

He gasps, dramatically resting his hand on his chest as his eyes grow wide with disbelief and betrayal.

“You would make me sleep on the floor!?” He covers his face as your nickname rolls off his lips once more, “how could you?”

Like always, his performance has you fighting a grin, trying to bite and swallow it down but ultimately losing that battle as it pulls at your lips. He peeks at you with one eye before covering it once more with his hand.

“Oh, the humanity!” He cries, flopping on the bed.

And now, you’re laughing, dropping your bag by the foot of the bed and crawling up too, enticed by his playful nature.

“Calm down, drama queen, I won’t make you do that.”

Instantly, he brightens, sitting up and pulling your hands into his, allowing his fingers to close over yours with ease, dwarfing them.

“You’re so kind and so good,” he praises, bowing his head and pressing his forehead to your joined hands to show his gratitude.

But then his eyes change, and they grow sly and he smirks at you with a quirked brow and speaks.

“I can think of several ways to return the favor of your generosity. Let me show you.”

Obsessed with your reaction to the “trades”

HAHA do u have any strong feelings abt the "trades" too or is it just me? bc the "trades" lowkey make me so sad. like wdym the season after aomine gets traded from cavs to the timberwolves the cavs become number one in the east and the wolves start sucking (compared to their performance last season, where they were number one in the west)... like that's just so heartbreaking to me... at least we can imagine ant and aomine on a team together causing chaos

kuroko's trade makes me mad for a different reason, even tho dallas is performing better than the spurs (but no big difference from last season @ this time), they've separated kuroko and wemby!!! wemby doesnt need chris paul he can have kuroko. or fuck it he can have both of them! now the spurs r really a problem! but nooo now he's on the mavs... i'm sure its bc of the luka magic or kyries skills or whatever but i dont caaaare... i feel like kuroko fits the spurs so much better

also i think kuroko looks sooo much better in the spurs uniforms than any of the dallas uniforms! he doesnt need to be in blue all the time... the black and white suits him nicely! now aomine on the other hand... i Do think he looks better in the current wolves uniforms, but thats just because i hate the current cavs uniforms LMAO. i think the og knb x nba crossover made pretty good matches for the characters to their teams! whoever's in charge needs to free themselves from always matching hair color to the uniform color but alas... at least nobody else changed teams (from what i saw)
