In the far north of the Ampesest Kingdom lies the city of Kmall. Within and even outside the borders, it is known for the impressive cathedral dedicated to the deities Derios and Natased. Many followers of them aspire to join and become acolytes in the holy temple, some even wanting to work towards the honour of being appointed as priest. The members of the congregation are well aware of the yearning folks. If one were to leave the cathedral for even a moment, they would be instantly swarmed by the outsiders and asked how to be accepted into the monastery. Over many decades had the cathedral grown more isolated, only opening the prayer hall doors on selected days and building walls around the congregational grounds, all for the safety of its members.

The linguist and archivist Darceus Hodeya had witnessed lots of these changes since his integration into the community. While he had spent longs nights in the library stood city guards post all around the building for the time that the wall was being constructed. And even after all the safety measures had been made, the entire congregation had to rely on the city's guards for their safety. On the rare occasion Darceus would have to head out, he'd first have to send a formal request a few days in advance, stating the purpose and duration of his trip. Although this was an immense restriction to his freedom, he rather refrained from going out often than to leave all on his own.

One day, Darceus waited by the pompous main gates for the requested guard to arrive and escort him around Kmall. He was greeted by two men in armor, a familiar face accompanied by an unknown one.

"Blessings and good fortunes, Hodeya," both guards bowed down on one knee towards Darceus from the other side of the gates.

"I only requested one escort," Darceus told them. "I'm not staying out for long, so why am I sent you two?"

The older of the men stood up straight again. "My apologies, I was under the impression you had been informed already. I am not here to protect you today, but Cileija is," he explained and gestured to the other guard. "They are new to our guild, so I came to ensure they follow the protocols correctly before I leave."

Darceus nodded and looked over at Cileija, watching as they stood upright again to do their job. Every single one of their moves was made with an almost robotic precision. The gate was unlocked and pushed open just enough to let Darceus slip through before locking them up again. After a formal valediction, Darceus stood next to his new guard without any further supervision. He took a moment to take a proper look at Cileija, how they stood tall and broad in their delicately crafted armor, long blonde hair covering their ears and flowing down to their shoulders, one hand rested on the hilt of their sword as if prepared to fight at the blink of an eye.

"You're a paladin, aren't you?" Darceus asked as he began to walk towards his destination. Cileija followed right by his side in a confident stride.

"In training," they answered.

"Let me guess, Order of Natased? Oath of Vengeance? Or is it Ethius and the Oath of the Ancients?"

"Anria and Derios," Cileija corrected him. "Once I finish my training, I will take the Oath of Devotion."

Darceus was surprised. His assumptions were made on the basis of the guard's manner and their serious, prepared look. "Would you mind telling me more?"

Cileija shook their head. "With all due respect, I am here to fulfil my duty to protect you."

"Even if we stayed in a secluded place for our little chat?" Darceus could see how the other was briefly considering his offer, seeing how their grip loosened ever so slightly on their sword.

"Fine," Cileija gave in with a soft voice. "But only after we have taken care of whatever business you have to attend first."

Since that fateful day, Darceus and Cileija came to see each other almost regularly. Although the first few months were still exclusively as escort requests, the two got closer every time they unwound and talked privately in the back rows of libraries and other hidden places before it was time to return to the monastery again. That was, until Darceus had offered Cileija to visit him for a tour through the archive he worked for. The brief stays and tours around the sacred halls eventually became hour-long conversations far into the dark of night.

On the day of Cileija's ceremony, they knelt before the head priest of Kmall's cathedral to take their final oath. As a symbol to celebrate their devotion to this holy mission, Cileija was given a beautifully crafted swords from Darceus. But out of all the people in the ceremony hall, only they and the acolyte knew of the deep bond the two had created over the past years, the reason for Cileija to have the ceremony in this particular cathedral.

I tried to make a timeline of I Love Yoo

Many things has happened and we are on chapter 89 already, but I always confused about the timeline; how many months has passed since chapter one? So I tried to make a list of timeline and events that happened.

Here’s the day and date I managed to gather according to the details Quimchee gave us, like from the conversation, the character’s phone screen, and Shin-Ae’s calendar on eps 38 (plus my own calendar, lol). Some days and date may not be accurate though, and there’s some events that I’m not sure the date of because of lack information; I’ll edit it if I missed something or if I find something new.

(I didn’t add the prologue because I don’t know when that happened)

Friday, September 16: Dieter confessed to Shin-Ae, first time she met Yeong-Gi (Eps  1-2)

Satuday, September 17: The Hirahara party, first first time she met Kousuke (Eps 3-8)

Sunday, September 18: The aftemath of Hirahara party; Shin-Ae met YG co. and Kousuke at doughnut shop, Shin-Ae video-calling with Minhyuk. (Eps 9-15)

Saturday, September 24: The kMall arc; Shin-Ae met up with Kousuke and Yeong-Gi, first appereance of the stalker (Eps 16-19)

Around early-mid October: Arcade arc; first appereance of Yui Hirahara (Eps 19-24)

So three months have passed, huh.

The upcoming events are Yeong-Gi’s arraignment in a few weeks, BMent Christmast Party which I don’t know when exactly, and Min-Hyuk’s welcome party + Yeong-Gi’s birthday on  21st December (but it can change, since Min-hyuk’ll try to come home early).I just hope these 4 won’t collide with each other, Shin-Ae still needs more break.

Oh, and Yui will come home before the holiday. Ugh.

*Edit: Shin-Ae’s first orientation and tutoring happened on November 2, not Nov 7; I missed her dialogue on eps 38 that she has 11 days left to pay her rent.

lunch @ MiGa Korean Cuisine

Did you guys know there is a “K-Mall” in Edmonton??? cos I didn’t until earlier today, when I had lunch at MiGa Korean Cuisine. It’s in Millwoods, & from what I read, they opened fairly recently. They are 2 stores down from Ginseng Korean BBQ & next to it is another Korean restaurant called Pocha Seoul. Additionally, diagonally across this K-Mall is another K-restaurant *sigh.. why do I not live near here? lol

Anyways, the purpose of today’s meal was. .. to catch up with Christina, who was unable to attend my bday dinner @ State & Main so... here we are, a belated bday dinner (treated by Christina)!

MiGa Korean Cuisine: 9261-34 Ave.

The view when we arrived & sat down. You know.. .for a Friday lunch ~11:30am, I wasn’t expecting many customers here, esp in this area, where it’s mostly industrial businesses. However, when we left, there were 4 other tables of customers (at least 3 ppl each).

Christina & I were kindly greeted by the staff & was served some tea.

After we decided what to order, these sidedishes were brought out. This was my 1st time seeing this combo of sidedishes haha there was a marinated fish cake (top left), macaroni salad with some light mayo (top right), kimchi radish (this was the best one out of the 5), a light cucumber salad (bottom left) & a bean sprout salad (bottom right).

& then our entrée came!!! The staff member 1st brought out a portable gas stove. Most tables in the restaurant had a built-in stove (for hot pot/bbq) but our didn’t come with it so the stove was brought out separately. Then he brought out this.. .masterpiece! It is the cheol pan ddeokbokki, aka sizzling hot plate spicy rice cakes.

I don’t think this exists anywhere else in Edmonton yet. .. but it’s the typical spicy rice that every Korean restaurant (should) have but it’s on a hotplate & it is continuously sizzling so it’s remains hot. At the same time, it keeps the fried dumplings, fried vegetable balls, & the corn warm/hot AND cooks the egg AND melts the cheese. Because it was our 1st time here, the staff kindly cooked the egg for us & explained to us that once the cheese all melts, we can dip everything else in it.

A closer look...

I REALLLLLLY liked the fried vegetable balls! Something different & unusual. It’s not like tempura where the individual vegetable item is fried separately; instead, the “main” batter is made up of the typical flour/egg combo plus yam. So it’s quite dense but at the same time, very soft (bcos of the yam texture & other contents). Each ball had some corn, broccoli & some carrot pieces in it. It was SO good with the melted cheese. The dumplings were good as well, supppppper crunchy; the ingredients inside included some glass noodles & pork. Corn & egg.. .well, they’re corn & egg! haha & I love them in any form. The ddeokbokki part of it was good except for the glass noodles. The noodles became very soft & borderline mushy towards the end of our meal, & I would’ve preferred the dish without the glass noodles (personally). However, the rice cakes were good till the end & I, of course, really enjoyed the triangular fish cakes. YUM!

So yeah... very good 1st time visit - service was good, food was good... the highlight was the fried vegetable balls! 9.5/10~
