I know ive submitted so much now but this blog is addicting
Ok, so im gonna try and make this my last submission!
Some fan cherubs.
Oof, you know it’s been a long time since I’ve done reviews, because I just had to buff up SO much on Cherub mythos. I’m about to do a lot of rambling right here, to that end, so bear with me!
I see the themes you’re trying to set up. Sculptor versus Painter is an interesting arrangement for a duo of cherubs! You’ve just kept the details really sparing, so while I don’t want to dictate the direction of your cherubs entirely, I do want to give some guidance.
You have to remember to have them in conflict. Maybe have them in debate about their artforms? Maybe they get competitive over who is the better artist or who has the best work. Maybe you could even create a situation where they’re both battling for a position in an art exhibit on whatever planet they occupy?
Just how adversarial they are is entirely up to you, but cherubs are destined to take over one another, so there’s probably at least a little innate competitiveness there. You could throw in the wrench of neither of them really realizing that only one of them can survive maturity and that being a mitigating factor for their competitiveness, though.
If you want them to be playing a session, you also have to find a way to justify them playing sburb. They aren’t the products of ectobiology (unless your cherubs are! That’s something you could possibly explore) and so they don’t have a stable time loop to rely on without creating the loop themselves.
Now that that’s out of the way, I can get to addressing each cherub independently!
Left:
Name: Daviid. Play on the sculpture “David”
Cherubs need to have 8 letter names! Their letter amount is decided from the word Cherubim, the traditional plural of Cherub.
So I’d recommend Klutotek instead. It’s a reference to Hephaestus, who was known as a god of sculptors, and it means “renowned artificer,” or basically ‘really good craftsman.’
Sign: Sculptors tools constellation
Age: 13 human years
Blood: red
This means he has to be the ‘evil’ one. You’ve got to decide how that will come forward! He is more of the jabbing type? Is he more condescending, or is he merely aloof and abrasive? Does he wish to cause harm to others or merely express apathy and a lack of concern for the consequences of his actions? How does he treat his other half?
gender: male
Quirk: Capitalizes O
Your cherubs should have quirks that are almost like reflections of one another, that act in a sort of recognizably opposite way. Maybe he capitalizes O but never capitalizes A? And the other half of this duo can do the exact opposite, always capitalizing A but never capitalizing O.
god tier: mage of doom
If it’s just the two of them, making him mage of doom would result in a doomed session. So I’m going to address this section two different ways!
1: The assumption that he’ll either be working with others or that his session is doomed. You haven’t given me tons in the way of personality to base this answer off of! So if I assume Mage of Doom is correct, that could be an interesting basis. Does he understand the rules? Maybe he’s been preparing for sburb. Maybe he has been for a long time and has a kind of idea of how things are set-up. Maybe he’s really good at playing the rules to his whim.
2: If we assume you want to have a viable session with just the two of them, I’d make him a Lord of Space. It works with his sculpture theme, given the inherent understanding and mastery of 3-d space that is needed to perfect sculptures.
land: land of prickles and drought. Goal is to find clay and make tools?
I think the Land of Marble and Brimstone might be more fitting? (Or Brimstone and Frogs if he’s a space player). Though he might have multiple lands if you go with the Caliborn model for cherub planets. He could have various planets themed after different sculpture materials or tools! With his goal being to sculpt something out of each materially, even really eccentric ones he’s never worked with before.
consorts: crested geckoes
Cherubs don’t really seem to obtain traditional consorts? I think it’s implied that each of the various planets have different consorts from the last, so you could play around with that! The core focus of a Cherub session seems more likely to be on the obtaining of minions- perhaps he could be trying to sculpt his minions under immense pressure?
Right:
Name: ?? I wanted to do something with van gogh though.
I tried pretty hard to get a Van Gogh-relevant name that started with a K for you and I’ve got it! Kroeller. She was an art collector, one of the first to understand the brilliance of Van Gosh.
Sign: Easel constellation
Age: 13 human years
Blood: lime green
She’s got to be the more mild, more “kind” one. So you need to think about how her kindness shows itself. Is she the type to be really invested in other cultures? Is she just not outright mean or does she actively make an effort to be nice? How genuine is her politeness? All things to consider.
gender: female
Quirk: Capitalizes V
Same commentary as under the brother, have her capitalize A but never capitalize O.
god tier: ?? something with life though.
1: If we do life, we probably want her to be a more direct contrast to her brother than giving her direct inverses… I mean, Heir of Life COULD work and be interesting. And themeatically the inverse makes more sense… She’d just have to be someone who is really good at using the vigor of life and working that in a particular direction, constantly developing and changing and breaking rules. It makes sense with Van Gogh, really! An impressionist! Someone inspired!
2: Assuming again the preference for viability, she would be the Muse of Time. This would allow her more passive influence over the passing of time, the ability to control and write it to her whim. Artists are a little like that, so it makes sense.
land: land of puddles and shrubs. Goal is to make art of some form?
consorts: blue-tailed day geckoes
As a parallel to her brother, I might recommend the Land of Iceflows and Acrylic. (Or, as a time player, the Land of Iceflows and Persistence, as a reference to the Salvador Dali painting with the melting clocks). Once more, we’re faced with the question of multiple planets! The very interesting question of multiple planets. In her case, she could have a similar goal, needing to travel between various planets with different themes in order to paint herself minions while under duress.
On to the design stuff!:
Klutotek: I liked the grumpy squinty eyes you gave him, so I tried to keep that eye shape even with the eyes open. I also gave him bottom eyelashes, because I feel like that comes off as a little uncommon, eccentric, and is better for artistically themed characters.
We’ve only ever seen cherubs represented with black t-shirts, so I switched him to black. I also gave him undone green overalls that are lined with red on the interior for that necessary pop of color in his design. Usually I don’t like pointlessly shoelessness but since he’s an artsy type, I suppose I can allow barefooted design!
Kroeller: I kept her happy squinty eyes, but also moved the eyelashes down to the bottom.
She has the buttoned up green overalls with red buttons. She also has some paint splotches on her overalls and has some artist’s anti-smudge gloves on either hand. Finally, she’s wearing slippers!
I’m not used to cherub designs so much, so I hope this is all helpful! Thank you for submitting!
