"A Toothsome Tale"

A subject I was wondering about over the summer was, do Kel' Dor lose their tusks like kids lose their teeth?

This little HC is the result.

A few notes:

Mistress Nee'gala is the Sullustan Nurse Practitioner in the Med Bay at the temple. I love her - and Plo loves to hang out with her. Since he has empathic extrasensory ablilties and healing touch, he acts like a "therapy dog," putting scared little ones (and not-so-little ones, as some can attest) at ease as Mistress tends to them. He also performs various duties in his free time to make life a bit easier for her in the Med Bay. Folding stuff, washing stuff, disinfecting stuff. He loves... to clean. I feel like Plo is a Virgo. Or whatever a Virgo is, where he is. Fight me.

Yep, Plo sleeps in a little atmosphere bubble. Whoever wanted to see that, here it is. (Still working on the mechanisms that generate it).

Yep, Plo purrs. He purrs when he is comfy, too. He loves a good night's sleep - so of course, he wakes up purring. I am working on some kind of stuffed animal that is a replica of an animal on Dor'in for him. It's one of my Inktober goals. I will keep you posted.

BIR is Plo's Nautolan friend. God love him, he is not the brightest bulb on the tree. Plo loves him anyway.

Many thanks to @kiwikipedia for the reminder that Plo's organs were called LAEVERINE organs. I racked my brain trying to find out who HC'd that, but didn't find the source - so I am giving you the credit.

I will post more INKTOBER "Plo Koon" stuff for you to see as I do it. I have a blast creating Kel' Dor shenanigans.

Heartbeats kept ticking past, Darrash wasn’t sure if he should have bothered listening to words flying in front of him or not. so I saw a recent post about CodyWan and, should you feel comfortable enough about this ask, I'd like to ask you about these two ships- Jocasta and Dooku (romantic,) and Plo Koon and Kit Fisto (platonic)

I actually dont like Jocasta and Dooku together at all. Vibes are off, I don't care. I just don't like it. Friends, sure, but not as a ship. I'm also not a fan of Sifo Dyas and Dooku as a ship either, not my thing since I don't really care all that much about Sifo (lol).

Plo Koon and Kit are fine as friends, they're fine as lovers, they're fine as amicably divorced exes, co-parents, married for tax reasons, asexual life partners— whatever. I don't care if they're romantically or platonically involved, I personally do ship them, quite a lot actually so it's very rare for me to pick up fics with other ships as I do not ship Kit with anyone else outside of Plo and maybe Micah Giiett in terms of canon characters, OCs depend. Similarly with Plo Koon though I have a bit more open-mindedness due to Plo being (checks notes) old, so he has more/better options I think he can mesh with better.

(Ie: Shaak Ti, Cin Drallig, Saesee Tiin, Dexter Jettster)

In general idc what others ship as long as they respect what I ship, but if you’re poking and looking for hints to what could be seen on this blog, there’s your answer

(Gonna try and answer these in order best as I can, it’s a little long but I hope this answers some stuff)

Not sure if this aligns with Canon but in Legends there’s an entire Seekers division in the Order on top of the fact that many sectors that are OK with it also have assigned Jedi Watchmen.

Tholme did this pre TCW, overseeing the Kiffu sector. Ki Adi Mundi and Yoda also held Watchman positions once but idk their exact locations.

Anyways, the role of the watchman is to Protect assigned star system or planet but also to Identify Force-sensitive children within their assigned area of space.

Judging by both Ki Adi and Tholme, a number of watchmen Jedi could possibly former or current Shadows, or were trained by them, so they know to keep an ear to the ground regarding rumors and whispers about strange children. I also suspect that because during the era before the clone wars the Jedi are somewhat present enough for core worlds at least to be like “oh shit this is a weird baby, better call the Jedi!” OR there are planets with pre established Force-Sects such as on Dorin where the Kel Dor have the Baran Do Sages and I guess sensitivity is passed down through the family since three generations of Koon’s have been through the temple (Uncle, Plo, and Sha) at least.

So finding the children is probably a mix of Watchmen passing info to the temple/finding the children themselves (like Tholme did for Quinlan and kinda for Aayla), Seekers following rumor / just wandering, other Jedi just wandering and finding them, or active contact with the order and/or a watchman. And also the Force.

As for the legality, I think because the Order is in alliance to the Senate there is definitely paperwork and channels that need to be worked through but that’s a lot of other things to consider. A parent does not need to give their child up, but they often do because of the risk factor involved with a force sensitive child— a child trained wrong or not trained at all is highly destructive. Likely it’s falls to the same conditions as a legal adoption.

And in the event that the child is not given freely, i would suspect that the watchman would try and drop by or there would be literature that would be given to aide in the “homeschool” training process. Before the Order was condensed to Coruscant, there were multiple Temples of Jedi as well, so going back that far there might even be like a local temple to drop your wizard kid off at (lol).

As stated before there are also other Force-Sensitive sects that aren’t Jedi. The Dagoyan Order, Frangawl Cult, Nightsisters, Ordu Aspectu, and the Zeffo Sages are all non Jedi Force groups that Canon has listed but idk where they fall on the timeline— and know later on that the Inquisitors and Knights of Ren exist. Legends wise there is the Baran Do of Dorin and I believe that Kit Fisto’s uncle also belonged to another force religious order but I can’t recall the name. For species and people who have a different religious culture, I would expect that there are just other sects much like how religion IRL has many sects and places of worship, so it wouldn’t be too far fetched to see parents choose to send their child there rather than to the Jedi since the Jedi Order is only one of many sects— though is probably the most well known.

The main reason why force sensitives and different organizations/sects/religions don’t really pop up in Star Wars media is mostly because they are hella irrelevant to the Main Characters ie: the Skywalker and Kenobi squad. I’m personally of the opinion that if Star Wars focused on someone who WAS in another religious sect (ie: Plo Koon) we would’ve seen not only Jedi and Baran Do culture but possibly others as well.

TLDR:

Jedi have / had a system and also used the force for finding kids, there definitely some teaching and legal talk for the parents, but there’s also always the option to let the kid stay and be raised at home or in another FS organization that’s culturally theirs / close by and we don’t ever hear about them because they’re not relevant to the Skywalkers lmao

but how do jedi get the list of force-sensitive kids that they keep in holocrons. what kind of testing is there! the existence of jedi seekers implies it’s wholly organised on the basis of individual jedi totally dedicated to seeking out future younglings but how do they do that. do they follow rumours and reports? does the force guide them to force sensitive children? how many kids don’t get found? if the parents’ consent is required then how many kids don’t get turned over to the jedi and where the hell are they and what happens to them? why are planets okay with handing over their most powerful children to the republic. do any of them seek training elsewhere? do any cultures have their own force-user traditions? in the age of the republic why wouldn’t there be many people who are openly force users without being jedi? do the jedi have the right to take force-sensitive children into custody when the sith are at large or are they required to leave them if they can’t get parental consent even if the sith will have no such qualms. has any parent ever taken the jedi order to court

I keep seeing posts about tbobf ep 6 saying we should give the star wars writers a chance to further develop Luke's character, that this version of Luke isn't the end goal, that they might be doing this so he can learn.

Two problems with that.

One. I have given them chances.

I gave them a chance with the Tuskens - they killed them.

I gave them a chance to compel me with whatever story they were going to tell about Boba after that - they sidelined him in his own show.

I gave them a chance to return to the story they had been telling - we got this episode full of junk characterizations instead.

Two. We know what the end goal is.

And it's the sequels.

Did you forget about those? Disney hasn't. That is their end goal Luke. And he starts here.

So, no, I'm done giving them chances. I'm watching this show solely for Temeura Morrison amd Ming-Na Wen at this point.

I have some advice to writers in fandom: if you start to feel like fandom is making you dislike your own writing, get the hell out. Do not wait, do not pull halfway out, fucking go. Fandoms are vicious and there are people out there who make themselves feel better by tearing others down. Waiting for likes teaches you to externalize your sense of self-worth. Reblogs and follower counts become unspoken competitions.

Leave with your sense of self-worth intact. Loving your writing is worth more than anything you could possibly get out of fandom, I promise you.

For April Fool's day the GearStation Poketube starts like normal except it's being run by a sneasel in a tiny gear station uniform. Not even dubbed over, just the sneasel going "Snee Snee Snee SNEE sneasel Snee!" like it's been doing this the whole time. In the background you see two sneasels (hisuin and johto) in Ingo and Emmets uniforms being carried around by Lady Sneasler in her own total uniform (jacket included!). The chat is losing it's mind and half the comments are just "SNEE!"

That’s the entire live stream for the day. Just depot workers following the Sneasel Staff and Lady Sneasler. They even do battles on the subway, just the Sneaslers. Ingo and Emmet and the Depot Workers take orders from the Sneasels and Lady Sneasler. No one acts any different.

Everyone is losing their minds. It’s the highest viewed video on the whole PokeTube site for a while.

I do not care if Cody is your favorite character or not, you need to realize that he was used as bait to draw attention away from the fact that the Bad Batch team could not be assed to redesign the clones and instead gave them new armor which arguarbly requires more effort than just softening and rounding features, recoloring skin and texturing hair, and then copy-pasting the models.

Gear Station PokeTube channel that’s full of information about trains and the Battle Subway, except it’s run by the Depot Managers and other Staff. The Twins don’t exactly have the time to make videos betwen battling and keeping the trains running, but every so often they’ll show up in videos, perhaps just in the background. 

Those videos are always flooded with comments like “we all know the real highlight of this video was that 3 seconds of Boss Emmet in the background” and “did Boss Ingo just pick up a bench that’s supposed to be bolted down by himself?”

Sometimes they’re actually in the videos to explain something or do a Q&A but the other videos are much more fun to some fans. It’s always funny to see what shinanagans the twins get up to in the background of another video

sometimes people see zelda and go ‘haha funny adventure sword game with puzzles’ and move along with their day.

But there’s something incredibly sad about the entire timeline of Zelda, when it comes down to it. Three people, stuck in a repeating cycle never to be broken. 

Was Ganon always destained to be evil? Was Zelda always destained to carry such a burden? Was Link always destained to be thrown headlong without any warning to become a hero?

Did, perhaps, the ones who know of the timeline, of the prophecy, of the cycle, did they believe that it was over only to be repeated again with each incarnation? 

Do the souls of the three locked in the endless cycle cry out? Is there pain? Or do they simply not know? Not realize that it is them who they face again. A face that they know too well, a face that they have seen over and over and over again?

I wonder, truely, though, if the three dreamed of their past lives. 

If Zelda dreamed of the countless times she had been used as a hostage, the countless times she had used magic to keep herself safe but in staisis, of disguises and ninjas, of the roaring seas as a pirate, of a guardian she does not remember? 

If Link dreams of being nine years old and never changing, only to change too fast, of riding on horseback, of darkness, of wolves and a laugh he cannot place, of a sister he does not know?

If Ganon woke from dreams of his death as a child, of becoming a monsterous beast, of shadows, and agony, and a lust for power he cannot grasp, of a sword through his chest, through his face, of being shot over and over by arrows of silver and light?

I wonder if somewhere, deep down, they curse their destiny, locked in an endless cycle of suffering and loss.
