Thanks for the tags, @hgejfmw-hgejhsf, @kiwiana-writes, @inexplicablymine, and @three-drink-amy.
I'm keeping things going today with a little more of my project with @kiwiana-writes, since we've been having a lot of fun with that this week. This is actually part of the same scene I shared on Wednesday, which I just finished writing, like, ten minutes ago:
"What I don't understand is how the lot of you can sit there and do nothing." "What choice do we have?" June says. Deliriously, Henry wonders if he sounded so ridiculous on that rainy night in Kensington—truly, it's no wonder Alex burst through the palace doors, forceful as the storm outside, and called him an obtuse fucking asshole. But that was a lifetime ago. Henry is no longer the gilded prince who simply allows things to happen to him; he'll be damned if he'll let this happen to Alex without a fight. It seems fitting that Alex's own words fly from Henry's mouth then: "You could try."

We gonna need some brand-new jeans
by kiwiana “Alex.” His name is more of a sharp exhale out of Henry’s mouth than a word, Henry’s head tipped back against the headboard of their bed, those long, elegant, piano-playing fingers gripping the sheets underneath them. There’s a bead of sweat trickling down his temple, a bit of gravy smeared across the corner of his lips, and Alex wants to lick both of them up. “Christ, darling—I don’t think I can—” “I think you can.” Alex runs his index finger under the waistband of Henry’s sweatpants, grinning when even that light touch has Henry gasping. He splays his hand across Henry’s abdomen, pressing just a little against the taut swell of Henry’s stomach under his palm, and then he moves lower, to where Henry’s dick is straining against the soft fabric, a damp patch already forming. “God, baby, you’re so fucking greedy.” Or, finding a use for Thanksgiving leftovers. My latest embroidery, on the theme of the old NZ 2c coin (RIP 1967-1990, possibly the most beautifully designed coins we've ever had)
The plant is a kowhai tree, an NZ native. Not pictured are the 1 million tui fighting to drink from the flowers, or the sole kereru who is attempting to eat them.

My latest podfic! A short little soulmates AU from the incomparable @kiwiana-writes.
[Podfic] We were supposed to find this (M, 20 minutes)
Still, half an hour after shaking Prince Henry’s hand for the first time, he finds himself back in his hotel room with one shoe and sock hurriedly tugged off and his right foot resting on his left knee. Just to check. Just in case Alex is somehow, by some miracle, about to become the first documented case of Surprise! You Can Totally Have A Different Soulmate, We Fucked Up And Your One Kind Of Sucks. No such luck. The words are the same as they’ve always been, etched into his skin in a careful, calligraphic font. The kind of handwriting someone might have if, for example, they came from the sort of family that valued tradition and etiquette far higher than letting their children write like normal human beings.
Go listen, and make sure to leave kudos at the original work as well!

I literally just opened a GOOGLE DOC for this comment I’m about to write. It’s entitled “Hinged or Unhinged” because it is for @kiwiana-writes ridiculously phenomenal Shakespeare retelling of Much Ado About Nothing as a West End stage play, where Alex and Henry play a gender bent gay coupling of Benedick and Beatrice.
Will keep you updated on just how unhinged this comment gets…

Henry needs to leave. Possibly the country, but certainly this conversation.
“Michelle?” She appears in the doorway, frowning as she takes in the Great Brownie Sacrifice. “Would you be able to assist this customer, please? I have to take all this into the back and…” There’s no professional way to say drown myself in the staff toilet, so eventually he goes with: “clean up.”

I don't like that I'm brought to be this way. I like the spirit of everybody commenting and reblogging, but I have to inform there's no damn way this should be supported.
People, this party - which has the audacity to style itself as THE party for Maori - has not even remotely helped Maori communities. Their interest ends at their own political identity and power.
The reason the Haka exists is to be a challenge in deadly combat. Sticking out the tongue is a wordless gesture to indicate that you're keen on flaying the flesh off your opponent's skull when you eat their remains so they can't even rest in peace after you kill them. Today it's the opposite of intimidating because it's been stuck into everything, where once a good chunk of its power came from the fact that you only really knew what it was about if you were from the real Aotearoa. We saw a haka on The Bachelor, for fuck's sake.
The govt - fucked as they are - do still have an ongoing practice of giving money to anybody Maori if you rent a house. This would apply if you're Maori, and able to buy a house. The process would do nothing for you if you weren't a Maori. Whether or not your prior four generations were here building the country would not matter.
This section of the process is meant to be a debate, not throwing the tantrum that she is. There could have been words said that would actually detail the exact issue had with Minister Seymour's logic. MP Maipi-Clarke decided not to do this. This is no fucking help to what they were gathered there for.
I'm humbled to see the support of everyone here. Damn it, I'm still surprised you all don't think we're just part of Australia. But painting everything with the brush that assumes there's no difference between them and your own is belittling to the individual causes - and identities - of indigenous persons and peoples across the world.
I'm not sure how this party hasn't realized that the functional outcome of the two governments they want, where there is one for Maori and another for everyone else, has at no point ended in anything but disaster. How exactly do you get to the point of thinking "Rules for me, but not for thee" is a good way to go, let alone a real solution to inequality?
It sure looks cool and powerful. But you all need to sit back and have a think. This is a damned embarrassment for us Kiwis. There is no pride in this behaviour.
Hana-Rawhiti Kareariki Maipi-Clarke, the youngest MP in Aotearoa, starts a haka to protest the first vote on a bill reinterpreting the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi

Tagged by my beloveds: @kiwiana-writes, @hgejfmw-hgejhsf, @cha-melodius, @vanillahigh00, and @junebugclaremontdiaz.
By this point, MJ (@kiwiana-writes) and I have both casually mentioned a secret project. It's still a secret, but I am a menace and a plague and I'm sharing this with absolutely no context whatsoever:
Henry's gaze flicks across the desk to meet the stoic expression of the President of the United States: a carefully schooled pose he recognizes from the mirror after his father passed. The hard line of her jaw and the bleak look in her eyes betray the attempt at being inscrutable to anyone who knows the signs. Beside her, June is openly somber, tears welling, and her bottom lip is trembling. Nora holds her hand over the table. And Henry should say something supportive. He should nod and say that he understands. He should roll back his shoulders and acknowledge that he, as someone who is not even a legal citizen of this country, is grateful to be included in this conversation at all. Gratefulness, too, is a practiced pose for the spare. Henry is meant to smile and say, "thank you," even in meetings with Parliament. He is a figurehead. A charm. At any rate, the papers have already been drawn for Henry's abdication, which removes even the illusion of Henry's political power. At this moment, he is, for all intents and purposes, just a guest here—someone invited out of the kindness of Ellen Claremont's heart.

Kill the lights (I'm afraid of nothing)
by kiwiana For some reason, he’s way more horny since he got to college—though given the way he and Liam used to spend their evenings, maybe that’s to be expected. Maybe his body’s, like, acclimated or whatever. All he knows is that the itch under his skin is relentless, and Henry’s as much of an insomniac as Alex is, which is great when he’s not throwing a hissy fit about Alex staying up until 2am to finish an essay, but not so much when Alex needs him to be sound fucking asleep so that he can rub one out without waking Henry up. Or: College living arrangements lead to some awkward moments. "His songs were like a window into his soul, and I felt like I could relate to his struggles and emotions on a deep level. I will always cherish the memories of seeing him perform live and the joy his music brought me."
In addition to his music, Darcy Clay was also known for his eccentric personality and offbeat sense of humor. He often incorporated elements of comedy into his performances, creating a unique and entertaining stage presence that endeared him to fans and critics alike.
"Darcy Clay was a true original, a one-of-a-kind talent who left an indelible mark on the music world," said music journalist Mark Johnson. "His music was like nothing else out there, and his unique voice and perspective will be sorely missed. We are devastated by his loss, but grateful for the music he left behind."
Despite his untimely passing, Darcy Clay's music continues to inspire and resonate with fans around the world. His songs remain a testament to his talent and creativity, and his legacy lives on through the memories and experiences of those who were touched by his music.
