There are 5 species of these flightless birds:

Great-spotted Kiwi (Apteryx haastii), endemic to the South Island, VULNERABLE.

Little-spotted Kiwi (Apteryx owenii), in pre-European times occurred in both main islands, but is now restricted to a number of small offshore islands, NEARTHREATENED.

Southern Brown Kiwi (Apteryx australis), endemic to the South Island, VULNERABLE.

Okarito Kiwi (Apteryx rowi),  Ōkārito forest on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, VULNERABLE.

North Island Brown Kiwi (Apteryx mantelli), widespread in the norther 2/3 of the North Island, VULNERABLE.

Sis bought this box of Zespri RubyRed Kiwi Fruits (S$6.90) which comes with 4-6 fruits inside depending on the sizes. This red kiwi fruit has a vibrant red core and sweet berry-like flavour. The entire fruit is edible, including the skin, and kiwis can be bitten into like an apple, peeled, chopped, or halved, and the flesh scooped from the skin with a spoon.

Note: There were six fruits in this box but sister's friend took two for himself.
