#kiwi remus lupin

I have been absolutely OBSESSED with the thought of kiwi Remus recently because it works so well and i cannot get it out of my head, so here are a bunch of headcannons (pre-Hogwarts - I'll do Hogwarts and post-Hogwarts in seperate posts because it'll get too long otherwise)

Lyall and Hope met in London, Lyall was Welsh and Hope was kiwi

Hope gets pregnant and Lyall doesn't want to be a father, so they break up

Hope goes back to New Zealand and Remus is born there

Remus grows up in a small town in the South Island, I'm thinking Dunedin, or perhaps Wānaka (mayyybe Invercargill)

He grows up with his mom in a small house on a hill looking out to the water, a little on the outskirts of the town

Remus is still a werewolf; he gets bitten by an rogue werewolf on night when he's around three or four, but Hope manages to deal with it

She locks him in the back shed for the full moons, but as soon as dawn awakes, she's there with bandages and chocolate fish and hugs

It's hard, especially the first one, but they manage it, and Hope makes sure that Remus knows he's not a monster and still very loved

And the worst that happens the neighbours occasionally mention the wolf howls once or twice

Their neighbours, a middle-aged couple with no children, love them, especially Remus

They always give him a slice of cake when he comes round, and Hope a basket of cherries or something

They have a few sheep, and Remus loves going there and helping with the lambs, running with them in the paddock

He's a classic kiwi kid, spends almost all of his time outside, climbing trees and running barefoot, large rimmed hats, shorts all year round, constantly kicking off his shoes, always a bit of a burn on his cheeks because he's always forgetting to put on sunscreen (despite his mum's best efforts)

He takes the bus every morning to get to the local school

The school's only got a couple dozen kids, but the teachers are nice and Remus likes it, he loves learning, loves reading, especially

He's a quiet kid, doesn't have that many friends, but he's happy to just climb up a tree and sit there with a book

Hope is a bit of a hippie, and she goes round a lot of protests for Māori rights, queer rights, etc

The locals don't love it (it's the 60s), but she just rolls with it

She makes sure to teach Remus fragments of Māori, as much as she knows, which isn't much, but it's something

She can also see that her son's queer, even before he tells her, and makes sure to let him know that queer people are perfectly fine, and that she loves him

She struggles a bit financially, working at the local dairy and not earning all that much, but she grows a veggie garden and makes it work

And every summer, she makes sure to take at least two weeks off work and the two of them go off in their dingy caravan, put the Beatles on the radio, drive for a while and settle in some place to camp

They go walking and swimming and just enjoy nature for two weeks, every summer

Remus absolutely loves it, he'll go swimming every day, even if it's cold and raining

Hope also passes on to Remus her love of birds, teaching his all the native one's names, in English and Māori, as well as he love for baking, spending hours in the kitchen together making cakes and muffins and biscuits

And Remus is very happy and Hope is very happy

I don’t know if anyone else thinks this, but I can 100% see the Marauders playing Roblox.

I’m sure we can all agree that Barty bullies kids while he’s playing, so in my mind, one time he joined a game and saw two people having a full-on argument. One of them was obviously, like, a seven-year-old, and the other - not so obvious to Barty… Sirius Black. Because Sirius would absolutely get into heated arguments on Roblox.

One time, Barty and Sirius were playing together—from their respective common rooms—while Regulus watched, trying to understand “the appeal of playing a children’s game.” As he watched Barty play with his “online best friend,” Regulus began to wonder who this person actually was. Later, when he was talking with Remus (platonic Moonwater!), he asked if Sirius played Roblox. Remus replied:

“Yeah, all the time. He’s gotten James and Peter to join him. Marlene, too. Why?”

Now, Regulus has to come to terms with the fact that his brother is unknowingly best friends with one of his best friends.

I can also totally picture all of them gaming together in their common rooms. In the Gryffindor common room: Remus and Sirius cuddling - Remus is reading or sleeping because he refuses to play. Marlene is sitting with Dorcas, the two of them sharing one device. Peter and James are playing with Mary peering over their shoulders, debating whether she should start playing too.

And in the Slytherin common room: Barty is gaming with Evan beside him or cuddling with him, Regulus is reading across from them, and Pandora is next to Barty, learning to play because it’s her first time.

Also, you can’t tell me that Minnie hasn’t, possibly on multiple occasions, burst into the Gryffindor common room after hearing screams expecting a fight or a party, only to find out it was just Sirius screaming over Dress to Impress.

could i possibly request a headcanon of the marauders reacting to their s/o making a lot of suicide jokes? it's v common for me and i wonder will they we be concerned? will they laugh along?

Hi honey! I know what you mean by this, however I do still think that it could be triggering for some people to read, so I'm putting it under a keep reading line! I’m adding my normal taglist to this post, however, obviously you do not need to feel obligated to read it as it contains sensitive material that could put some people on edge.

James Potter:

It catches him so off guard at first oh my god

It takes him a second to register what you said over a bad grade in a class and then he turns and is like

🤨

“Darling it’s just one grade, you know that, right?”

He’s doing that awkward panicked laugh kinda thing like haha pls tell me you’re kidding haha i’m calling the police haha

you’re like ‘babe i’m kidding’

“Why would you joke about that? Are you trying to give me a heart attack?”

You have to explain that it’s either a coping mechanism that you use or just something that you laugh about because it helps overdramatize the situation so that it doesn’t seem that bad later

He’s not really on board with it but he knows it’s your decision, and just makes you promise to tell him if something is seriously wrong

He reluctantly laughs along when you make them but there’s always a hint of concern there when he does

Sirius Black:

honestly he makes them too

the first time that you make one, he makes sure you’re kidding

but then has no problem joining in after that

“oh my god I have to present today in history of magic i’m gonna hang myself”

“wait we have the same period and I’m supposed to go after you, let me in that noose”

james is sitting across the great hall in tears like GUYS IT’S ONE PRESENTATION WHAT ARE YOU SAYING

at the end of the day they’re all just jokes but you two know if one of them isn’t a joke and you talk it over

Remus Lupin:

you probably turn him onto those kinds of jokes tbh

the first time you make one he’s like omg what :(( no :((

and then you explain yourself and he forgets a homework assignment the next month or something and he just

“I’m going to jump off of the astronomy tower.”

this time you’re the one to 🤨

he strikes me as the type of person to love that type of dry, intense humor, he just didn’t know that until you came along

every once in a while he asks if you’re being serious sincere because maybe you didn’t laugh that time, or it didn’t sound as sarcastic as it normally does

but for the most part

he’s down

Sirius' eyes flew open, his breath rapid. He took in the drawn scarlet curtains around him and the four-poster bed that he was lying in, quickly realising what had happened. “'s just a dream,” he muttered to himself trying to steady his heaving chest. It had happened again, that same dream, the same horrible nightmare. He tried to clear his head and go back to sleep but it was impossible. Every time he closed his eyes it was the same picture, the same feeling, the same pain.

With sleep denying him a moment’s worth of peace, Sirius crawled to the edge of his bed, cracking open the curtains. The window curtains opposite the side of his bed were slightly open showing the Hogwarts grounds underneath the black starry night sky. He creeped out of his bed and into the marauder's dorm room. Usually, when this happened he'd go to James but he hated waking him up despite James' reassurance that it was fine, but this time he had someone else he could go to and give James a break - Remus.

Although he didn't want to wake Remus up, it was kinda his job to be there for Sirius, as his boyfriend. Tiptoeing over to Remus' bed he ever so slightly opened the curtains.

Remus' wolf hearing picked up Sirius' footsteps so when Sirius whispered “Moony. you up?” He casually replied with “Yeah, you ok?”

Sirius hummed objectively “Can I come in?”

“Yeah,” Remus moved over to the side of his bed “Can't sleep?” He rubbed his eyes sleepily

“Nightmare” Sirius replied dismissively climbing into the bed

“Oh, are you ok?” Remus asked, full of worry. He'd heard of Sirius' nightmares, like how at one point, when it had gotten really bad, James had to use a silencing spell on him to stop screaming so loud.

“‘m fine, just a little shaken I guess,” Sirius yawned lying down, his back facing Remus' chest.

“We can talk about it... If you want” Yes Remus knew that he and Sirius were together but it still caught him a little off guard how comfortable Sirius was with him.

“Mmm,” Sirius replied uncertainly. He reached out his hand in search of Remus’ arm finding it and pulling it over his torso. Even though he was struggling with sleep just minutes ago Sirius was tired and something about Remus pulled what little guard he had down. Remus made him feel safe. so safe that he felt he could brave the nightmares of his sleep, as long as Remus was there with him

Remus' hands found its way to Sirius' dark hair, playing with it peacefully, being careful not to tug too hard or make him uncomfortable. Though he was nervous to be so close to Sirius Black in all his beauty, he felt secure, like that if he were lying like this with his arms wrapped around Sirius and his hand in his hair forever that they would be absolutely and undoubtedly fine, that nothing could or would harm them.

After a few minutes, Sirius drifted off into sleep and not long after Remus followed suit. It was the best sleep the two of them had gotten in a good while, so good in fact that they both slept right through the night and nearly into breakfast, despite it being a late breakfast for the weekend.

In the morning when James woke up, pleased to think that Sirius had not woken up from a nightmare, he went to check in on his friend. However, he grew confused as his eyes set upon Sirius' empty bed, until he heard quiet snores coming from Remus’ bed. Too loud to be just one person, James cracked open the curtains to find Remus and Sirius entangled in each other's arms, content and asleep, as he smiled to himself - they had both been looking for the other for so long, and now they had found each other.
