Hey, question for you again, if you have the time. How much leeway do you think Explorators are given by the mechanicus before declaring heritek? Given the nature of their work, are they treated kinda like the crazy tech uncle and mostly left alone, as long as when they do come back sporadically they bring back shiny things?
I don’t think Explorators are necessarily treated with more open ability to mcgyver their way through things; I think it’s more going to be in the vein that they’re going to be allowed to slide if it benefits the person getting their finds. It has been noted that it is not unusual for priests to kill one another to take their finds/discoveries/inventions. So the opportunity to declare a priest a heretek and place sanction brands on them for the purpose of taking their valuable things would probably dissuade most priests from being too blatant in their disregard for the rules.
Admittedly my first thought about this was the States’ OSHA laws(essentially worker’s safety laws). No one’s going to blatantly come out and say ‘I don’t follow these’ but they’re definitely going to turn a blind eye to profit from it if they can get away with it. And with Explorators generally out in the field and thus out of the public eye, there’s going to be a little more freedom there.
That being said, Explorator fleets aren’t just one priest, but many, many priests, often coming from many Forge Worlds and schools of thought. So it’s not just the Fabricator General of the Fleet’s attitude, but the entire social expectation, and how that may gel or not gel together. It really only takes one Magos Juris to wander in a screw things up.
I’m a little all over the place here, but I hope this helps!

Dont forget, they're described as also having implanted filters that "furr up" and "will have to be replaced" after the mission.
wait, we still talking about the third lung? Because if so, I think the writer needs to read some biology books.

Happy in Hebra
Is he blushing because of the cold or because of something (or someone) else? I think this is like the cutest Link I’ve ever drawn. I wasn’t even planning to color it because I’ve done too many portraits in a row, but I couldn’t resist...
Thanks and a shout out to @ my-assize-crits and @ kitsuneshenanigans for the words of encouragement and useful info about the pauldron. <3

I have an Ocarina of Time piece to work on and then I’ll work one of MANY Warframe pieces (or Link in one of the Gerudo outfits or BotW Zelda again X3).

It's not my fault the random generator made me a manly man! Maybe I should make a proper character instead of using a random generator character 🤔
Speaking using medieval honorifics is fun 😂. I like saying "Yes, my lord" 😂
@kitsuneshenanigans Thankfully I didn't kill the prince... Or I would immediately fail as a bodyguard 😂
Instead of study cos the next paper is like literally next week, my friends wanted to play DnD. Somehow convinced me to play too 😅
DM told me that I had to roll between 10-15 to kick the door down. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I got 19.
“You rolled above 15. You kicked too hard, and kicked the door off it’s hinges. The door flies forward and knocks out the prince”
What. Is that even allowed. What are the rules of DnD 😵?? Is the DM messing with me??

You've given me a lot to think about, thank you. I suppose I've always romanticized Explorators a bit. From what I've read of them, they always seemed somewhat a law into themselves, a driving personality much like a Rogue Trader going forth for science and exploration. It always seemed so lovely, to find and recover what was lost. Then again I suppose that would lead to finding things that should not be found, yes?
It is a lovely thought, but remember this is GRIMDARK(tm). NO FUN ALLOWED.
XD But all jest aside. If you want to see an Explorator fleet in action, you might read the Forges of Mars trilogy by Graham McNeill. It follows an Archmagos who’s lost essentially everything and is embarking on an Explorator voyage to hold onto some of his power and authority. It also features a Titan legio, Cadians, a rogue trader and his crew, menials and their struggle on a Mechanicus ship, Black Templars, Eldar, and AIs. So you get a little bit of everyone’s perspectives on an Explorator fleet. I really enjoyed the book, though if you want to keep some happy closure I recommend skipping like... the last two pages. I screamed for days.
If you’re looking for quirky priests though, you can definitely have that. There was quirk all over Forges of Mars and the Horus Heresy series ‘Mechanicum’ (Which I also tremendously enjoyed and you can read separately from the Horus Heresy series- just a basic knowledge of the Heresy timeline/lore is plenty to get the gist of the greater events.)
And plenty of priests sin, according to their dogma. Most of the upper echelon I would argue sins. It’s just that some are better than others explaining it away, justifying it, hiding it, killing those who are a threat to them, and/or surrounding themselves with other like-minded priests. You can get away with a lot when you’re in some remote location with a handful of other people just like you. Sometimes leaving a broken cog is more practical than going to the effort to replace it. So if you want a priest who breaks the status quo, you can, but part of their story is going to have to be how they broke from the dogma and how they deal with the potential back-lash of not fitting the mold. It’s a tale as old as time.

kitsuneshenanigans replied to your post “welp actually negative on the stream, its supposed to storm super...”
Storms are great as long as you're inside. The sound of rain falling, it's very soothing, especially if you're stressed cause you can imagine the world raging with you.
storms terrify me
when i was little, i would always go into my granmas room to sleep during storms and every. single. time. there was a static figure, like the figure of a child at the side of the bed
they would always get closer and closer throughout the night, even to the point of it looking like it was gonna crawl onto the bed and when lighting flashed i could see it easier
so storms arent a great memory for me

It's also mentioned that once terminators get up to speed theres not really much that can stop them, including tanks. A full tilt terminator is basically a juggernaut with firepower for funsies.
(I need this animated plz o.o)

So, mechanicus always likes their rituals, their chanting, their binary hymns. Do you think tech priests would carry fidget spinners made of interlocking cogs? Perhaps ones that have minor imperfections that just so happen to make binary sequences when spun by a mechadendrite?
I don’t see why not? Forgeworlds develop all sorts of weird little idiosyncrasies. My first thought was something akin to prayer beads...
The only problem I would see is the purpose of the item. The rituals/chanting/hymns are for the purpose of appeasing the machine spirits/the machine god. The fidget spinner sounds more like a self-comfort thing(much like prayer beads).
