Kitashi Updates - 4/19/23

Well, it has certainly been awhile lol Hello there! How’s everyone doing?

I’ve honestly avoided tumblr for a long time, only peeking in here and there when I have gotten the occasional tag from some very sweet people who still read & recommend my old fics. I’m actually not even sure I’m making a good choice posting now. It’s been over 5 years since ACOWAR & a lot has happened in my life. My last actual Update post that wasn’t a reblog (which was from like, what, 2017???) unexpectedly ended up documenting one of those life changing moments where your whole world turns upside down for the better. The ‘Rhysand Archeron’ player character I met while leveling up my gatherers in FFXIV (which this game is the reason my backlog of games now rivals my backlog of books 😓) had our first date less than 4 months after that post 😅 We’ve been together ever since & have been as happy as can be (though he goes by a different character name these days) 💜

The reason I’m here though is because of a few friends and family of mine (including 2 who asked me less than 12 hours apart & have no connection to each other) out of the blue about a week ago asked me, “Have you read/heard of ACOTAR?” 🤔

*cue manic laughter*

To make a long story much shorter & not bore you, after discussing with a few of them, I agreed to give the graphic audiobooks of ACOTAR, ACOMAF, & possibly ACOWAR a shot, to see if anything has changed for me in all this time. And some things clearly never do, because I made it to approximately the end of Chapter 4 of ACOTAR before I got inspiration for a fanfic. From Nesta’s POV of all things.

I’m nothing if not a glutton for punishment lol

I can’t promise how this will all go. I’m honestly very hesitant. But I’m willing to give it a second chance & see where it takes me.

Cazigan + Sleeping

So when all three of these morons are home together, they’re sleeping in Mor’s room. It smells nice. Incredibly nice. Which isn’t a difficult accomplish to manage when compared to the Gross Cass and Az sometimes drag home, but regardless - Mor scents her pillows with calming scents to help her sleep and the boys love it. They’ll never actually admit that’s why they prefer her room with the smaller bed and more feminine colors, but it is. And at the end of the day, those scents help them fall asleep too.

Mor is always - ALWAYS - the last one to wake up. And ‘wake up’ is putting it mildly. Cassian generally leaves the task of waking the beast up to Azriel because if Cass tries to do it, he gets too playful and expressive for Mor to deal with that early in the morning (even if ‘that early’ is 5pm). So Cassian goes out into the House and cooks a breakfast that generally is enough to finish rousing Mor if Azriel hasn’t already succeeded, which he usually has via soft touches and gentle kisses on her neck, whispering her name quietly. Mor appreciates the subtle approach. The last time Cassian tried, she’d wound up with hot tea spilled all over her sheets.

Things change drastically, however, if one of the three isn’t home and Mother above help whoever is stuck in the House when TWO of them are gone at once. The remaining pair usually takes up residence in the missing person’s room for the duration of their absence. The scent is just too inviting and comforting to ignore. There’s not much sexual activity going on either when one person is gone. Just lots of sleeping and holding and being very, very close for comfort in that bed until the other one comes back. These weeks are the only reason Rhys begins to suspect the three of them have started a thing. The three are really good at hiding it when they’re all three together, feeling good and playing off each other in their normal way. But when one person is gone, Rhys isn’t stupid. He sees Mor and Az together - in Cassian’s room, and he sees Az and Cassian together in Mor’s room when she’s at the CoN. Rhys, sad about his own empty bed, never says a word.

Being back together after a reunion is the best of times and so, so much fun. The antics they get up to in their various beds leads to some funny positions waking up in the morning. They don’t sleep in a normal position, even if they start out as such. It’s not uncommon to wake up and find Mor at the foot of the bed sprawled next to Cassian who is half hanging off the edge with Azriel still up by the pillows and so forth. It’s just too many tangles of limbs and wings and bodies and crazy sexual antics to stay put for one night.

However, on the nights where Mor is upset or Azriel is silent or Cassian is bloody, the three of them nestle in together, Mor always in the middle, and they just hold on until they’re asleep and even then a long while after. Those are the nights they don’t move. The Hard Nights. But they wouldn’t take them away for anything because waking up wrapped up completely in the two other people they care most about is worth everything.

@illyriantremors re-wrote significant portions of the books in Rhys’ POV.  Beautiful!  I read this as my re-read prior to ACOWAR coming out.

@sarah-bae-maas Has a FANTASTIC series called A Court of Hearts and Darkness (ACOHAD).  I’m a quivering mess waiting for each new chapter and all work stops when it hits tumblr!

@paperbacktrash writes tons of amazing fics and her blog is just fabulous, so check her stories out!

@bookocd has written a series called A Court of Pain and Dreams, I’m still catching up on it so I hope it’s still being written!  Also check out The Witches Strength.

Mor’s throat bobbed, noting the blood staining Cassian’s hands--realizing it wasn’t his own. Scenting it, no doubt, as she blurted, “Eris. Did you--”

“He remains alive,” Azriel answered, shadows curling around the clawed tips of his wings, so stark against the snow beneath our boots. “So do the others.”

Lucien was glancing between all of them, wary and quiet. What he knew of Mor’s history with his eldest brother. . . I’d never asked. Never wanted to.

Mor tossed her mass of golden waves over a shoulder. “Then let’s go home.”

Don’t you think if Mor truly experienced the early stages of a panic attack right then and there, it would have worsened the second Azriel mentioned Eris and his brothers remained alive? Don’t you think instead of simply, casually, tossing her golden hair over her shoulder and declaring they all go home, she’d be on the verge of an anxiety attack, pondering about how close Feyre was to the man who supposedly abused her?

Since we’re on the topic, don’t you think instead of watching her warily and quietly, Lucien would have reassured her that Eris was indeed an awful person? To me, it shows that Lucien has seen the good and the bad in Eris, and perhaps he is not aware of the full story regarding those two, but he knows enough that Mor should not be scared of Eris/Eris would have never attempted to hurt her physically. Those sentences prove to me that, in the spin-offs, we will delve into Lucien’s point of view during the initial announcement of the marriage arrangement between Mor and Eris. (Flashback-type scenarios, maybe.)

Let’s keep it civil with our responses please. Refrain from name-calling, swearing (this may be pushing it haha) and any PERSONAL attacks.
