When she looked back, she could see he was on her side of the bed, sitting on the bottom corner hidden by the wall mostly. He did his best to not suggest the annoyance it with his actions either. Maybe seeing her standing their out of awkwardness from the scene in front of her in his peripheral vision was a sort of reward for him that was enough.

“I’m stupid...” Cosimia had uttered in the silence of the night, a slight break in her voice.

“What? Why you say that?” He asked as he grabbed her hands, gently and turned around to face her. “You’re the smartest person I know, you’ve taught me so much. How could you possibly be stupid?”

The boy was gently cupping her cheeks in his hands at the point. Her eyes glistened with tears in them that he wiped away whrn he ran down. She let out a bitter chuckle at his words before taking his hands and just holding them in her lap. She sniffed as she tried to find her voice and words.

“That amethyst...” She sniffed. “It didn’t do anything to protect you from what happened... It didn’t do shit to protect you from the evil that was Ten when I wasn’t around like it was suppose to.”

“Didn’t it, though...?” He questioned, softly. “I remember the doctors saying something that I was very lucky or something because otherwise the bullet would have killed me, or at least paralyzed me. I wouldn’t be here like this, with you if it hadn’t been for that necklace you made for me. It did protect me in some way, you protected me without even thinking you did too...”

She just nodded while trying to blink away the rest of the water that remained in her eyes. It was only then that the two of them had actually notice how close they were to one another, only inches apart as they just looked at each other. The boy could his cheeks grow red as his heart began to beat a little faster than it maybe should’ve with a friend once again. They had never been so close to each other in such a way. He noticed her eyes were actually hazel... mostly brown with only a hint of green in them that went unnoticed unless you really looked. Her eyes also seemed to hold stars within them, that’s the only way he could best describe the way they shined even in the darkness of the night. He found himself not being able to look away from her as his breath hitched in his throat in a familiar way. He felt his hand on top of hers, running his thumb across the back of it. They both were thinking what was to come next in such an intimate moment like this and the both want it. The unfortunate part is it wasn’t as private as it should’ve been.

“Don’t you even dare kiss her.” Her mother gritted, once again from the corner.

He squeezed his eyes shut as he let out a sigh of frustration as he looked down in a way that blocked things from progressing further. It caught the girl off guard, she knew he liked her wasn’t that still true? Didn’t he want to kiss her?

“I’m kinda tired.” He lied to turn the attention to something else as he looked at the floor.

“That’s okay,” She assured him. “That’s normal when it comes to healing. Lay down, I can cuddle you, if you want?”

He nodded before he grabbed his tshirt to put it back on. He also grabbed the radio to turn it off and put it back in his drawer. He moved his books into the space below his drawer then he laid down like she told him to. She was already there, waiting for him to cuddle up next to her. She was still mindful of the wound in his chest when she cuddled him.

“Hey,” She mumbled. “Haechan?”

“Yes?” He hummed.

“Can i call you Hyuck...?” She asked. “I feel like it’s more fitting to you.”

“I’d like that a lot.”

She smiled at his answer. She looked so sleepy there with him and even was the first to fall asleep oddly enough between the two of them. The sight had left the boy with a slight smile on his face as he tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. The little snores that escaped her let him know she was fast asleep and gone for night. He finally turned to look at her mother with a glare in his eyes.

“Did you really have to ruin both of the moments for us?” He scoffed.

The woman shrugged, “I did say I was going to annoy you until you told her, I’m just keeping my promise. But having the two of you not kiss was just a win-win situation in my case.”

He really thought she was bluffing about it. Though, he realized she wasn’t when he kept him away all night saying the same stuff over and over again about telling the girl. He didn’t understand how a dead person could have that much enegry to do that for hours on end. He finally got fed up with it at one point as he was exhausted himself. He sat up and woke the girl that slept beside him in compliance to the mother’s wish. He felt bad about it but he couldn’t take it any longer...

“Cosimia,” He whispered while he shook her awake. “Wake up please.”

“What time is it?” She groaned as stirred.

“Four in the morning, I think.” He answered. “I need to tell you something.”

“Can it wait for a few hours?”

“No, once you get up you’ll know why.”

“Tell me what can’t wait until a normal hour. I’m up now.”

“Hmm... I know you’ve seen me act weird since I woke up from my coma.”

“Yes, Hyuck. You are traumatized and are still recovering from what happened, it’s not abnormal for situations like these.”

“No, you don’t get it. I know you and a lot of the others have found me having conversations with myself... Or that’s what it looks like and God, I hope this doesn’t make me sound ridiculous but since I’ve woken up I’ve been seeing your mom everywhere! She won’t leave me alone. I’m going insane because of it too! And I really thought she was hallucinations when I first saw her but then I started seeing other dead people and she said something about your birth time and it was correct-“

“My mom?”

“You believe me, right, Cosi?”

“Of course I do... Why didn’t you tell me sooner though? Where is she right now?”

“It just didn’t seem like a good idea to say anything... She’s in corner though, like she’s been since yesterday annoying the fuck out of me.”

The girl stopped breathing as he heard what the boy said at the end. Her mother had been there since yesterday? That means she saw what happened the evening before which left the girl blushing so intensely out of embarrassment. She wanted to hide so badly...

Donghyuck saw the lady walk over to the bed and sit down at the end, near her feet. The mom chuckled and smile sweetly at the reaction from her daughter. He had never seen the ghost appear so nice since she appear in his dream when he was in a coma. She reached out and touched her daughter’s cheek, something Cosimia had seem to feel with the way she jumped a little when the cold caressed her cheek.

“Don’t worry, mija. It’s a natural part of growing up... I understand and I’m happy you could find someone you feel so safe with...” She smiled with tears in her eyes like she able to hear her when it was only him. “I brought him back to you for a reason.”

“You didn’t seem like that last night.” He gritted.

“What?” Cosimia asked.

“She said not to worry about last night... She says she’s happy I’m someone you feel safe enough with and that’s why she brought me back to you... Whatever the last part means... Yes, that was her touching you too.”

“So, she was listening?”

“Listening to what?”

“When you were asleep I went to the car wreck and I asked her to make sure you were alright. And here you are, seeing her... and the rest of dead... Is she crossing over now though?”

“No, I haven’t done everything I need to do. You were right, Haechan, I was hiding something from you as well as her sort of... In order for you to continue living she needed her ablities transferred to you, of course it was change so you could be of use.”
