my controversial yakuza headcanon is that kiryu is aroace and specifically very sex averse. like i dont think hes a virgin i think he's had sex and it was an extremely awkward and unpleasant experience for everyone involved.

#HE WAS JUST A LITTLE GUY BACK THEN. HE WAS JUST A DEPRESSED DESPERATE LITTLE GUY#WHO CAME FRESH OUT OF HELL AND WAS FRANKLY STILL KINDA LIVING IN IT#BUT ALSO STILL DIDN'T QUITE KNOW JUST WHAT OTHER HORRORS THE YAKUZA LIFE HELD IN STORE FOR HIM#he tells himself that he's willing to do his first hit out of some blind and desperate devotion to his kyoudai who he “failed”#and while i think the sprinklings of majima being Goofy and Stupid while initially trying to perform the hit on makoto are comedy Gold#it also shows how his ass really had No clue what he was doing#bro goes into the place yelling like a fucking idiot and falls asleep right in the target's territory. literally dumbest ass mistakes#and spends the last third of the chapter completely confused and out of the loop and stuck with his Actual target not knowing what to do#and while it's funny as hell it just goes to show how inexperienced he really was.and throughout the game you see how soft he still rlly wa#which just hurts more when you consider how he was so easily manipulated by shimano the entire time. Augh#oh y0 majima you didn't deserve any of that my guy you should've been at the fucking CLUB. Not as the manager though#deadass in the end cutscenes when they paralleled the cutscenes of kiryu and majima on the verge of killing someone for the first time#i really thought they'd do a thing where while kiryu was stopped at the last second by nishiki majima would actually go through it#but the fact that he Also didn't go through with it. while it was shocking and cool as hell at first now it just makes me Sad#he still has those soft bits in him. but after what happened and now that he's shimano's right hand man#he has to wrap them up and keep them somewhere far away. he can't be soft he's a full-fledged yakuza#who performs hits and does dirty work and above all else is loyal to the family and gives his life to his boss#and above even that he's shimano's weapon. he's shimano's Dog. sigh

Literally as soon as RGG introduced Morning Glory Orphanage they just went RIGHT HARUKA IS THE MOTHER FIGURE despite her BEING AROUND THE SAME AGE OR NOT MUCH OLDER THAN THE OTHER KIDS AND STILL BEING YOU KNOW A CHILD. i watched the 2007 rgg movie tonight just to see what its like and i have a lot to say about it but for now i just doodled my favorite scene bc i could not handle it
#ryu ga gotoku#yakuza#overall my thoughts about it were that it was very funny but mostly in the ways it wasnt supposed to be#the casting was.... mostly bad honestly#kiryu's actor's face made me SO MAD he just pissed me off every time i saw him#he looked like some slick asshole i hated him#he didnt move or emote like kiryu either like that was straight up a different man#majima looked... not good. and sounded worse. BUT. his actor really fucking gave it his all#he was acted very well and conveyed majima perfectly i think. many good majima moments this was but one of them#funniest part by far was the nishiki reveal tho. MY GOD. he looked SO EXCEPTIONALLY BAD.#i was laughing for five solid minutes i had to pause and take a picture#my cheeks fucking hurt laughing at nishiki. dear lord. im very sorry to his actor he just. LOOKED. REALLY BAD. One moment in Y3 I'll never get over is Daigo, fresh out of coma, instinctively reassuring Mine with such tenderness. Yeah it made him feel more guilty, sure. I finished replaying y4 last night and man. I think i saw the game through rose tinted glasses the first time bc wtf was that
#its like they thought they did something but it was bad plot twist after bad plot twist#and the plot twists that werent so bad like arai being a cop are shadowed by the shitty ones#and also why the hell did daigo show up at the millenium tower? he had absolutely no reason to be there#and kiryu also had no reason at all to get involved#his part felt more like an excuse to give closure to the parts of the other protagonists imo#man that game is messy as all hell#something that will always bother me is that if a main character geta shot 37 times thwyll survive but if an npc gets shot once they die#this is about yasuko#yakuza#rant#y4
