Magicat Au! Catra

Personally, for this AU, I’d like to think that Catra’s headgear, that she had while in the Horde, was her equivalent of the Sword of Protection. Obviously there are some questions that arise from that idea, which I will try to answer.

Q: Where did she get it from and when?

When she was a pre-teen, the Horde sent out a troop of soldiers into the woods to find a safer short cut to Brightmoon, but due to the woods having a lot of hostile animals within the area, but were able to find the headgear and other Magicat items, like their technology and books, within an abandoned Magicat town. I’d like to think they let cadets take something from these raids, as a sign for what they could take (steal) in the future from raids, and Catra was naturally drawn to the headgear.

Q: Why couldn’t she become She-Ra while in the Horde?

Catra couldn’t transform into She-Ra while in the Horde because of Shadow Weaver and Shadow Weaver’s connection to the runestone. The constant torture and ‘electric therapy’ left Catra feeling extremely weak and she would often feel hopeless and was constantly being told she was hopeless and useless. She felt too hopeless to activate She-Ra, and felt like she could do nothing to help herself. Once she escaped and went to the town with Bow and Glimmer that was being raided, she knew she should try to do whatever she could to do something right for once and helping others, which led to her transformation in the town. When attacking the animal, she transformed to protect herself to prevent her death and didn’t want to die. She felt far enough away from the Horde to feel like she was really on her own and needed to take action because no one could “save her this time.”

third owlfight '23 attack, for @kirrba - "Luz and Vee sibling dynamic!"

@kirrba has a great comic that turns that trope on its head in a wonderful way, and it would be amazing if it actually happened in the show since it would demonstrate the growth and development both Luz and Amity have undergone throughout the series.

Also just kind of a reminder since these speculations onrs are starting up again.

Dana fought hard to make sure Lumity would get in the show.

She’s not going to have gone through all that effort. Through the after effects of that. (Because let’s be real that was a factor in the shortening)

And then break them up.

My current theories are (under read more because this ended up being super long, sorry):

The Emperor is actually a human, but I think his body is part mechanical; the blue eye, his voice, even his staff, all look like something artificially created.

The spy is gonna be one of Amity’s parents, or possibly her uncle?

This pic is courtesy of @kirrba​ who mentioned that it’s probably Amity’s parents, and while I agree that that is definitely Amity’s mother (she has the same haircut as the shadow in Understanding Willow)

I don’t think the guy beside her is Amity’s father, because the nose doesn’t match the one in the shadow. So, I think the guy next to the child version of Amity’s mom, is Amity’s uncle.

As a minor sidenote, both of them are in the Abomination track, and I feel like with how controlling Amity’s parents are, if they had both in the Abomination track, they would want all their kids to be in that too, but Edric and Emira are in the Illusion track. This is again, just something minor that’s based more on headcanon than actual canon, but I stand by my theory that the guy beside Amity’s mom is Amity’s uncle.

So, like I said above; I believe the spy is gonna be one of Amity’s parents or her uncle, but I’m leaning more toward the uncle. And I think it will turn into a mystery next season, where we’re led to believe the spy is Amity’s father, but it’s actually her uncle, who will be introduced as someone more lax and encouraging of Amity, compared to her more controlling and abusive parents, and it’s gonna be a whole, big betrayal.

Now that we know that Belos doesn’t want to invade the human world, what if his plans are “unification” as the name of “Unification Day” implies? We’ve already seen The Owl House take some shots at Harry Potter, and while I haven’t seen Star VS myself, I’ve heard that it’s ending, where I think Earth and Mewni are unified and magic is destroyed, was generally disliked by a lot of people? I don’t know if that’s true, or it’s just the people on my dash, but I could maybe see The Owl House taking inspiration there and making that Belos’ plan; to unify the human world and the boiling isles, and perhaps even destroying magic in the process? I don’t know, I could maybe see Belos being of the opinion that as long as magic exists, there is a chance of wild magic flourishing again.

And finally, the theory of who is writing the letters. I’ve mentioned this before, but now that we have it confirmed that portals to the human world are rare enough that the Emperor himself doesn’t even have one, I think my theory has more leg to stand on.

My theory is basically based on the myth of the changeling; a troll or fairy that replaces a human child that’s been taken by the troll or fae people. This could be something dangerous, but on the other hand, maybe it’s just like an innocent child from the boiling isles who’s having the time of her life being normal in the human world, in contrast to Luz having her magic adventure on the boiling isles? Maybe next season, we’ll get a lighthearted episode focusing on them having fun at the camp Luz was supposed to go to?

Then again, it might not be as harmless, as sometimes the story of the changeling go, that the changeling will eventually lead their human family back to their troll or fae family, for an... unfortunate end. We’ll have to wait and see, but I definitely believe that, when Owlbert first slipped through the door to the human world, and was collecting trash, a resident of the boiling isles slipped through, overheard and saw Luz’s mother send her off to camp, and then, when Luz chased Owlbert back through the door, decided to take Luz’s place in the human world.

So, important things that the season finale gave us:

There's the big stuff, of course; the portal, Luz being stuck, Eda and Lilith's magic, etc

But there's a bunch of smaller things pulling at my attention.

Luz's glyphs don't work in the human world.

Luz cast a spell without a glyph, using Owlbert's Staff (and was able to trigger her glyphs remotely, using Owlbert)

Something significant is behind Emperor Belos's mask

Luz still has the mask piece that she chipped off, and it has hella Chekhov's Gun vibes

Willow and Gus incited a protest against an imperial decree on live television (or crystal ball-vision i guess?)

Eda's chest gem is still fully black, while Lilith's hasn't changed. Lilith has a grey streak of hair, while Eda has a streak of pure white, lighter than the rest of her hair.

The coven member assigned to spy on the owl house isn't an ordinary grunt. They're wearing an owl mask, and i don't like it.

And then there's one thing that I was expecting which we didn't see: We still don't know who's sending letters to Luz's mother
