OC Evolution Event

Premise:

The premise of this event is to create a simple design for an oc with no lore. A blank canvas, if you will.

Participants (including me) will be put in a circle, and everyone’s ocs will be handed to the person next in the circle.

Each person gets a week to add two lore elements to the character and add one thing to the design. You then redraw the oc, and all of the ocs gets passed to the next person. This keeps going until everyone receives their original oc with all its new lore and the design influenced by all the artists it’s come across!

Entry requirement:

Create a new oc design. Design must be simplistic and the reference needs to be clear.

Can be any species from the kirby universe, game or anime, or even a kirby fan species if desired (though note for lore purposes things may not stay canon to the lore of the species as it gets passed around the circe if people are unfamiliar with the species) we ask that this stick to the Kirby fandom.

Drawings, both applications and going forward with the event, can be digital or traditional! If you’re able to colour/shade/fully render it that’s great, but not required if you are unable to. Use what supplies you have and or like working with the most and do your best! This is not a contest of art skills, but an event for fun to see what the community can create together and appreciate all the different styles people have when creating ocs.

Rules:

When you receive a character, your goal is to add two pieces of lore, and some aspect to the design, and then draw the updated oc in your style!

Lore pieces can be almost anything! For example:

•oc’s name or alias they gain along the way

•personal information about the oc like their gender identity

•oc likes or dislikes

•oc’s occupation(s)

•fears

•likes or dislikes

•relationships with other characters like family or friends

•places of origin

•story events (ie: this oc once participated in a *insert event here*)

•anything else that falls under this category, be as creative as you want!

Design wise, you could do any of the following:

•add features like markings, freckles, scars

•clothing or accessories (maybe a silly hat)

•if it’s an oc like a puffball maybe add wings or a tail or something of that nature

•give the oc a tool or a weapon

Some dos and don’ts!

Do:

•Keep things PG, heavy depictions of gore, anything sexual, political, or religious, or anything that promotes hate or violence towards real people will immediately result in you being kicked from the event. Remember there are minors in this fandom and that hate, disrespect, harassment and discrimination will never be tolerated. While this also the kirby fandom and The Horrors™️ are a given, we ask you do keep things family friendly.

We will have an option to do a blacklist if there’s certain things you aren’t okay with having added to your oc for personal reasons that people adding stuff to your oc can reference.

•Have fun, and ask for help if you’re unsure or are dry on ideas. This is designed to be a community effort!

Don’t:

•Change the original design to no longer be recognizable as that original design. For example if the oc submitted is a waddle dee, you should be able to still tell its a waddle dee.

•If the previous person has established specific lore, don’t contradict that lore, nobody wants their lore thrown out the window.

Any other questions or concerns, please ask me for clarification!

Randomly remembered that time in an old Symphogear RP some friends and I did where I wrote that the Tunguska Event was actually someone shooting down Baba Yaga (who was actually one of many ancient humans who had their evolution accelerated by the Custodians and given superpowers—basically the Symphogear equivalent of Jack Kirby’s Eternals), and then had it that she was contained in a secret lab in Chernobyl until the nuclear disaster allowed her to break out.

I had a lot of ideas when it came to Symphogear… maybe I should re-watch the series and see what fanfics I can write for it. I even had an OC Gear-Wielder that I’ve been saving for something…

Lil quick announcement!

Apologies for how disastrous the evolution event has been, between it being my first ever event hosted and irl stuff that has my brain on shrimp mode things have been wee bits disastrous.

A participant messaged me saying they could not complete their art piece today, so I will be starting the next week tomorrow instead when they have their submission finished and the event will finish on a Saturday instead of a Friday.

for the oc evolution event, if the person who originally created an oc doesn't want to keep it, would they be allowed to give all ownership rights of the oc to you after the event ends?

After the event is over and you have your oc back, you’re more than welcome to do whatever you please with it! It’s your oc after all. Keeping it merely as a keepsake to remember the event, using it for yourself, or giving it up to someone else is all completely valid.

I, personally, will happily adopt any and all ocs. I am weak for having new ocs, haha.

Hello everyone, this is your reminder that October 31st is the last day to sign up for this event and on November 1st the event will be starting up!

We have two spots left for entry! The event will still carry out like normal if we only have eight people it’ll just be two weeks shorter than originally planned.

I also wanted to know if it would be of interest to the participants for me to start up a small and simplistic discord server for the event. This server would be only for the participants to communicate with me and each other, share progress, discuss the event and ask me questions during the event, and come the end of the event I would be deleting the server.

Let me know your thoughts! Otherwise on November 1st around 12pm GMT (Pacific Standard Time) the schedule of the event and order in which ocs will be passed to will be revealed and the event will kick off!

You can send applications via asks or DMs here on Tumblr, or DM me on discord! Or if you make a post here on Tumblr, tag me so I can see it. There’s no form or anything, just include your art of your blank canvas character and your username! If you have a blacklist of things you do not want included on the oc (keep in mind including things like NSFW and excessive gore is not necessary to add as it’s already blacklisted) please include it as well!

Applications are currently open, and will remain open until the end of October or until I have all nine applicants confirmed and ready to go with their submission.

When you think about it, this is the last time they'll be like this... once the weeks pass... these Kirby OCs will be different people. And we're not gonna see our OCs for over a month... So why not give them one last salute before they're released out into the wild (LMAO)... Goodbye, my child I'll see you again!~
