This was my first time doing anything like this. I'm super happy i was able to finish it, even though i didn't start immediately. I'll try to put more effort in next time to hopefully make better pieces. But for now, i'm just thankful that God gave me the strength to finish all 30 inputs, without going crazy. 😁

This time I think I succeed with the blue light effect. And also I managed to make Sectonia's details almost 100% accurate to how she appear in the games.

🎃 Kirbtober 2024 Day 29: Trick or Treat 🎃

Some CFAU Halloween facts:

- Bow has worn that same shark costume every year since her first Halloween. It’s one of the few times in her childhood that she’s taken off her bow willingly for more than a few minutes.

- DDD saved up his allowance money for nearly a year to commission one of Bow’s moms (a former seamstress) to make that mask for him. She admits that she would’ve done it for free, but DDD’s papa insisted otherwise, hoping it might teach the boy about the value of money and paying folks fairly for their services (which it does... eventually).

- DDD’s mama tried to convince her son to wear a sweater due to the late-fall chill in the air, but he staunchly refused, claiming it wouldn’t be “authentic to the look.” They compromised by adding a blanket cape to his costume.

- Meta spent hours on his costume, consulting every book he could find at the Library Turtle for reference, agonizing over several "failed attempts" until he got it right. In the end, he managed to make himself into a fairly accurate replica of the Ancient hero... but had to make a few concessions, leaving the shield and pauldrons behind so he could carry his treat bucket (a difficult sacrifice, but a worthwhile one).

- Despite all his meticulous work, Meta leaves a trail of feathers behind them all night, his wings nearly bare by the time they return home to sort their candy. To his credit, he’d had some trouble applying them thanks to his limited reach, so - rather than leave his costume incomplete - he asked Para to help him out. (He’d considered asking DDD first… but the thought of the penguin touching his wings made his stomach feel funny. He’s not sure why.)

- Para’s outfit is a hand-me-down from one of his older siblings. It’s a bit snug and tends to chafe, not to mention entirely inaccurate to a real spacesuit… but it’s one of his favorite costumes of all time, the closest he’s ever been (in his youth, at least) to feeling like a real, honest-to-Nova astronaut.

- DDD gives all his chocolate candy to Meta without question. Bow steals everyone’s sour candy without asking. Para picks one grandma caramel from his pile and lets the others keep the rest. The four of them share a small bag of homemade checkerboard cookies provided by Para’s dad.

Faces of Floralia

So... uh, a while back (almost a year ago now— I think I'm going to be sick), I wrote a fic called Cicada Days. It was a cool little story getting into my headcanons about Joronia and Taranza's shared childhood, as well as Floralia as a whole.

In it, I introduced a few characters relevant to my Kirbyverse: the heirs to other Insectoid families who competed with Joronia for the throne, and later went on to become victims of her bodysnatching.

Ever since, I've wanted to design those characters! And... well, I finally got around to it! About damn time, don't you think?

But while I was making little ref sheets for the characters who are relevant to Floralia in my Kirbyverse...

I may have gotten a little carried away and did one or two extra.

First up, of course, being the young 'prince' and his future retainer. But that's not all!

I also made one for Persephone, one of the characters I alluded to in one of my Kirbtober drawings. She's an angry, heartbroken little Sectra seeking vengeance, and in one of my WIP fics she stabs Taranza in the gut <3

Then, finally, uh...-

Fun fact: in my Kirbyverse, all of Sectonia's victims were conscious the entire time after she assimilated them, unable to move or speak, but fully aware. This is an experience that I can only imagine would sort of... break a person's brain.

So, yeah! Sectonia's victims probably aren't doing too hot, even freed of their horrific fate and now resting 'peacefully' in Hades. Poor Perconta here is a little showcase of that.

Eventually I'd like to maybe do another one of these with more characters. But for now... these are some of the most noteworthy bugs! Enjoy!

Kirbtober Day 7: Headcannon

Headcannons about Dream Land’s favorite pass-time:

Avalanche!

It’s going to be a very long post.

Context:

Originally, this was from the Avalanche arc, which was a part of an overly ambitious project about what if I, local Kirby fan and idiot, retold the entire story of Kirby, and took inspiration from every medium of Kirby, and I mean every.

I scrapped the idea of rewriting the entire Kirby story because, first of all, I'm not a writer and, second of all, I don't have that kind of patience.

But oddly enough, I grew so fond of the Avalanche Arc that it became part of my head-cannon.

The Avalanche Arc would’ve taken place before Bandana Dee had his Bandana

Headcannon #1:

Avalanche makes everyone act terribly to one another

There’s no magic or scientific reason behind this

It’s just like playing board games with your family

Headcannon #2:

There’s a wristwatch version of Avalanche that allows online multiplayer

The buttons to move your piece are the two blobs on the side and the button in the center is to drop.

Players often use these wristwatches to practice for the competition that happens annually, but recently been changed to triennially due to the Avalanche Competition, causing an increase rate in crime and sabotage pre-competition.

The wristwatch has four modes:

Arcade:

See how long you last

Vs:

Play against another player to see who’s better

Competition:

A mode only available during competition (will be explained later)

Time:

Tells the time

Headcannon #3:

There are two types of Avalanche Competition that are usually hosted:

digital and IRL

Digital is basically your average Kirby Avalanche gameplay

IRL has the same mechanics as Avalanche, where you match the same color blobs together and make combos but with a twist, it takes place in an actual stadium.

Players use large hooks to rotate and guide the blobs to their preferred spot.

Player are able to keep reference of where they have placed the blobs by using the Competition mode on their wristwatch as referenced before. Most players bounce on the already stacked blobs to reach the blobs above.

Beginners typically use the ladder.

And some players have the ability to float or fly to reach the blob.

Like in normal sports, there are more ideal Avalanche players, usually ones who are able to fly or float, but others have figured out ways to get around these shortcomings by using their own skills and abilities.

There are two main type of skills:

Delay Skills:

Skills that stops or slows down the falling of blobs for a few seconds

(Only affects falling blobs)

Destroy Skills:

Skills that destroys already placed blobs

(Only affects blobs that have been placed)

Other rules include:

DON’T SABOTAGE THE OTHER PLAYERS!!!!

You can use a skill only after completing a certain amount of combos (amount depends on how powerful the skill is)

Don’t attempt to move blobs that have already been placed

PLEASE DON’T SABOTAGE THE OTHER PLAYERS!

Headcannon #4:

Some Dream Landers aren’t avid Avalanche enjoyers but usually still tune in to see the blob cam

Because as much as everyone loves seeing their favorite player succeed, everyone always prefers seeing the loser get (safely) crushed by the piling up blobs and come out as a blobby mess.

Kirby:

Rising up the ranks rapidly, it’s Kirby! They do not only have the ability to float, which puts them ahead of most players, they also have not one, not two, but three skills to aid them in the competition!

Skill: (L x W)

Copy Ability:

Allows Kirby to switch from these three copy abilities:

Ice:

Allows Kirby to freeze blobs from falling for a few seconds

Fire:

Allows Kirby to burn and destroy blobs (2 x 4)

Fighting:

Allows Kirby to break boulders and the blobs surrounding it (2 x 2)

Trivia:

Kirby would’ve picked mike as one of their abilities but the competition didn’t allow it

Even though most people brush off Kirby as just being the ideal type of person to play Avalanche due to their ability to float and the many skills they can utilize, their ability to think quickly on their feet is the main reason why they quickly became one of the top players

Kirby is the first player in Dream Land to have three skills

Some Avalanche players (in order of worse to best):

Chilly and Tokkori:

This tag team may bicker often, but when working towards a common goal, nothing can stand in their way!

Skill:

Freeze!:

Allows Chilly to freeze blobs from falling for a few seconds

Feather Falling:

Allows Tokkori to slow down blobs from falling by grabbing the blob with his hook and letting it fall gently

Trivia:

The main reason why they usually lose is that they often argue and complain that the other one have placed a blob wrong

They have a strong rivalry with the Sun and Moon for best tag team duo

Tokkorri is better at solo Avalanche than Chilly

Meta Knight:

Even this lone swordsman couldn’t resist the fierce competition of Avalanche! His ability to fly and slash makes him a fearsome foe!

Skill:

Piercing Slash:

Allows Meta Knight to clear an entire row

Down Thrust:

Allows Meta Knight to clear an entire column

Trivia:

Meta Knight quickly became an Avalanche Competition fan favorite due to his mysterious aura and his flashy skills

Meta Knight is extremely bitter about being ranked below King Dedede

Meta Knight’s playing style is heavily inspired by the long reigning Avalanche Champion, only known as ‘The Avalanche King’

King Dedede:

Make way for the King himself! Ranked second best, this King is a force to be reckoned with! With his trusty tool he’ll destroys anyone who threatens his rank!

Skill:

King Dedede’s Hammer:

Allows King Dedede’s hook to change into the hammer and give the blobs a large bonk (4 x 4)

Triple Dedede Hammer:

Allows King Dedede’s hook to change into a hammer and wack the blobs three times destroying them in the process 3 x (2 x 2)

Trivia:

King Dedede was the number one ranked players for years before someone else took that spot

King Dedede created his hook by himself and this design later inspired Masked Dedede’s hammer

There’s a stadium specifically made for him due to his larger size compared to the average Dream Lander

The Avalanche King:

After vanishing for years, the Avalanche King finally returns! This mysterious champion may look like your run-of-a-mill Dream Lander, but his skills are nothing to scoff at! His speed and quick-thinking are unmatched, but why did he return?

Skill:

None to destroy blobs or to delay blobs. Only fan-service babyyyyy!

Trivia:

It’s Bandana Waddle Dee.

In the Avalanche Arc there was a joke about it being very obvious that it was him but somehow no one knows.

He wears a masked because he doesn’t want King Dedede to figure out he’s been slacking off to play Avalanche and that he took King Dedede’s title

The reason why he vanished was because Bandana Dee realized he had a very unhealthy addiction to Avalanche and decided to quit

He returned because Kirby made him relapse

He’s the same waddle dee from the actual Avalanche game (still a head-cannon)

The reason he’s so cracked at Avalanche is because I wanted to foreshadow his ability to to use a spear by paralleling how he uses the hook to play avalanche (This originally was a part of a story like I said before.)

This was also planned to show that even if Bandana Dee isn’t as physically strong as the others, he has the capacity to be smarter and think quicker than his peers, (I know it isn’t cannon (double isn’t cannon because it’s from an alternate universe), but from the Dreamy Gears Light Novel, it was shown that Bandana Dee figured out how to read ancient text faster than Meta Knight, so I like to think he has the ability to work smarter and harder).

Kirbtober 2024 Companion Pieces - Week One

A companion lore piece to the ongoing Kirbtober, using the list by @paintpanic. You can see the full art collection for this week here, or by clicking read more after scrolling through.

Day 1: Dream

Something that Kirby has always wanted to have was to have a biological family. His parents were killed off by Nightmare's forces thanks to a traitor destroying the base they were all in - he was one of countless children sent into separate spaceships in hopes that the GSA would be able to track them. As the result, he grew a bit lonely despite the amounts of friends and chosen family around him.

He has very little information regarding his parents - all he knew was that Popopo was a great person, really, from Dedede ironically enough. But even that wasn't enough. Kirby wished he would know more, but most of that data regarding his parents have been deleted by the NME long ago, further complicating things.

And thus, there were times when he would sleep and dream regarding the existence of those parents. He would play with them, or at least what he THINKS they'd be like. Those dreams are, at times, dreams he wished he didn't have to wake up from. But...

It does make him wonder if things would've went differently for him, had that fateful betrayal and attack never happened.

Day 2: Revenge

3 years since the Technological War and Team Starstruck are now full-time members of the Galactic Soldier Army. They have been known for being impressive new meats for the most part, and Kirby is still working very hard. He still longs to know what kind of people his parents are like.

But the thing was, that became the least of his problems.

Without his knowledge, the same traitor who caused the death of his parents returned to the organization... disguising himself as a different person. The two were a bit close as fellow recruits, until once again, just like his parents, he was betrayed.

The traitor was here to finish the job, and also to avenge Nightmare. He even boasted regarding the puffball's parents dying by his hands. And so, for the first time in such a long, long, long long while...

Kirby saw red.

As if all the love and kindness in his heart were drained off, with a flick of a switch, Kirby went from the friendly ball of hope into a killing machine driven by hatred. It was an unnerving scene, watching as the kid went from being so chippy and happy into a silent, merciless fighter. The rest of the team tried to stop him - not just the fact that they should've been arresting the traitor, Kirby was rushing at the traitor when he was at his full power. But everything didn't go smoothly, Kirby shrugged off and even attacked his allies back when they try to reason or intervene to get him to stop. And eventually, it was too late.

There was a murder happening that day, and Kirby ended up being demoted for that.

When he recovered from it all, he felt regret as he essentially broke the rules of the organization, and additionally, had he opted to just arrest the guy, he would perhaps even be able to lick more information regarding his parents. Heck, he would've died, but he didn't. He got over it eventually, and took a while to be re-promoted, but he has been trying to reign in his inner rage since then...

So yes. This is what the team calls The Incident(TM).

Day 3: Song

Mike Technician Mode, huh. Never really posted this (alongside other Technician Modes - should have done so!), so consider this a teaser. Yes, you can connect analog devices in there too, like a wired microphone.

Definitely a fun thing, especially when this mode is powered by sound.

Day 4: Headcanon

On hindsight this might be better off for OC... But oh well.

Bandana's family name is Servician. This family are coincidentally working in food producing and manufacturing of sorts - basically, they cook and bake and make drinks. Working in the culinary industry of sorts. Despite their contributions there, their business has purposefully chosen to remain small.

This art shows some prominent members of the family, from top left to bottom right we have:

Cloche Servician: also known as Hat Dee. The head of the family and known to not be too noticable - I think we know where Bandee's 'mundaneness' comes from. He may look like nothing special, but he is the jack of all trades. A decent cook, gardener, and accountant.

Sieve Servician: also known as Sieve Dee or Baker Dee. Bandee's mom. She does most of the baking in the family, and is pretty sweet. She tends to be a bit doting towards kids, so you bet Bandee and Kirby got smothered by her love a lot. It was her strawberry shortcake recipe that made Kirby love that specific cake.

Canopy Servician: also known as Parasol Dee. Yes, he double duties as the 'Parasol helper representative'. Bandee's uncle from his father's side. He is a bartender who works in Orange Ocean, setting up a bar near the Comet Harbor where Meta Knight's crew lives. Calm, can be just a tiny bit cranky, the team thinks he is pretty cool. There was one time Bandee and Robobot did a part-time job at the bar. It was kinda funny.

Cleaver Servician: also known as Butcher Dee or Cleaver Dee or Meat Dee. Bandee's aunt from his father's side. This one's a riot, pretty much the cool aunt. She sets up a butcher's shop at Floria, selling various types of meat - anything that has legs, apparently are applicable to be sold except actual living people so she has everything from the mundane (chicken, beef, fishes) to just straight up weird (snakes, bisons, etc). She sources these from hunters usually, but does raise her own chicken and eggs. Is married to Punnet.

Punnet Servician: also known as Basket Dee or Gatherer Dee. Bandee's aunt from his mother's side, and is Sieve's twin sister. Punnet sets up a plant produce shop in Floria, just a few blocks away from Cleaver's shop, consisting of fruits and vegetables and miscellaneous plants that can be eaten or used as materials to cook or make medicines out of. Shy and a bit of a scaredy cat sometimes, which makes others wonder how did she stands being around Cleaver, but honestly, it's opposites attract at its finest.

The Servicians still use the Waddle Dees' old method of naming their child - if you are familiar with doljachi tradition that korean parents do to their kids, this is exactly how they used to be named. The first item that a waddle dee finds attachment to when they are still very young becomes their name. The names that came out of it tend to be weird however, so slowly in the modern era this tradition is either downplayed (by finding less weird names/synonyms of the chosen item) or just erased in its entirety. This is why we have Bandana Servician, because Bandee's item of attachment was a blue bandana.

Day 5: Royal

Oh hey, a headshot of Dedede without his hat. Yes, this AU Dedede has a beard and a small tuff of hair on his head. The latter used to be much longer though in his hey-days.

I should post the rest of refs I have made of other characters - old as they may be, but they are reliable. I may no longer do the Meet the Cast thing honestly, too exhausted, but uh... We will get to that, someday.

Day 6: Ancient

Ah, the Mistilteinn sword...

This blade is one created by, ironically, the Jambastians. Before the great dark incident and the big war that separated them from the Halcandrans, this strange relic was crafted due to assimilation with the Halcandrans' own magic. It mysteriously went missing during the big war itself.

This blade is particular uninteresting on first sight, but those with extensive knowledge of magic knows that SOMETHING is just off with this blade, and they'd be right. This sword has the ability to turn into any weapon based on one's memory. Essentially, as long as the wielder remembers the appearance of the weapon and how it works, the Mistilteinn can copy the appearance and even powers of the weapon, albeit a bit weaker.

...Magolor found it by sheer f^cking luck and guess which sword he decided to mimic with it for the first time because he was desperate as hell to kill the literally corrupted tree.

Since then, the weapon has been his "in case of emergency break glass" card. Or at least one of them. It's weird, okay. Trust me, he had lots of explaining to do when Kirby and Meta asked him about it. Oops.
