love and light to kpts for taking an incredibly trashy novel and making a polished and tightly woven drama out of it, but i can't believe that they didn't pick up the absolutely unhinged energy of vegas filming his affairs with all of kinn's previous partners and pete sending the footage of it to kinn and kinn opening it after having just barely made peace with porsche again for the twelve thousandth time

kinnbig kiss? :O
YEAH there's a kinnbig kiss in the novels lol and because I'm extra af I compiled some translations to make a somewhat readable version SO if you wanted to read it umm. here it is. 👀 [cw: alcohol, kissing under the influence of alcohol]
[context: Tawan has returned, Porsche and Kinn have broken up over it, Kinn is drunk.]
"Khun Kinn!" Big calls for me as he runs into the room. The alcohol has started to make me dizzy. I feel myself losing control of my emotions. "Let me go!" I sweep everything from the table onto the floor. I'm exhausted by all the emotions. I want them to stop. I feel like I could explode at any moment. "Khun Kinn! Khun Kinn, don't be like this." Big helps me to the sofa. "Let me go," I continue to shake, but the more I move the dizzier I feel. I'd almost drunk the whole bottle. I'm starting to hallucinate. "What is the matter, Khun Kinn? Is something wrong?" Big sits beside me on the sofa and wraps his arms around me. "Let me go! Porsche? Porsche?" My mind feels blurry. I can't keep the image of Porsche crying from replaying in my head. I close my eyes, unable to fight the heaviness in my eyelids. Next to me, someone is talking. I don’t know what he's saying. I can't comprehend any of the words. "I'm sorry, Porsche. Porsche, I'm sorry. Come back home with me." I say his name over and over like a madman. His name is the only thing I know. "Why does it have to be him?" the voice next to me says. "Porsche. I promise I won't make you sad again." My head feels so heavy I can barely support it. I let it fall, resting on the shoulder beside me. It reminds me of Porsche's warm body, the way we used to tease and hug one another. I've missed leaning on his shoulder like this. "Was he so good that I can't replace him?" There's a soft touch on my hand. I feel my face being lifted and warm breath on my cheek. "You came back to me, right? Porsche?" The person beside me is Porsche. It has to be Porsche. My heart swells. He's come back to me. "It's not me, is it?" His lips press against my own. The touch is gentle, even as I hear him sniffle softly. My hands find the back of his neck as I deepen the kiss. It feels nostalgic. It makes me want more. His tongue glides fiercely against my own. Porsche tastes different than I'm used to. The familiar, warm feeling isn't there. Strange, strange that even as he reaches inside my shirt, hand light on my chest, I don't feel dizzy. My heart isn’t pounding like before. Porsche touching me like this usually makes me tremble. Even with these thoughts, my brain begins to white-out. Intoxication makes my body ignite. For a while we kiss, his tongue hot in my mouth. His lips glide into the crevice of my neck. I tilt my head to give him full access to my throat. "Big! What the hell are you doing?" It’s the voice of Khun, the bastard that keeps buzzing in my ear. He barges into the room, and suddenly the person in front of me pulls away. "Porsche? Where are you going, Porsche?" I ramble, calling his name. "Khun Kinn, it's me." "Wow, why are you as drunk as this? Big, what did you do? Go, leave us!" "But Khun Kinn-" "I can take care of my younger brother. You can leave now!" "Yes, Khun." "Damn you, Kinn! You almost gave in to that bastard Big! That fucking asshole was taking advantage of you! You're lucky that Arm saw him enter your room, or else he definitely would have done something to you. I won't accept him as my brother-in-law! I'm not giving up on #teamPorsche!"

srsly, every time I hear new stuff about the KP / VP novels I drift farther away from it. I am just really hoping the drama writer crew gets all that nonsense fixed for a potential season 2... Like at this point I take character deaths but please keep the psychology and mental stuff logical and consistent.
I can deal with tragedy and drama but inconsistent psychology stuff will annoy me to no end. I was happy about how relatively well that went with season 1 (not 100% perfect but I give that to a TV drama).

VP novel cover reveals
I'm not gonna show them here, bc I think Daemi is awful, but a bunch of ppl on Twitter are apparently pissed and just....have you been paying any attention that last year and a half? Daemi has consistently been showing themselves to be terrible. People in the KP fandom have CONSISTENTLY warned against ordering anything from Daemi, both bc they're awful, but also because if you want to actively support the actors and the show it's best to get official BOC stuff, not anything Daemi puts out.
And like....I have no desire to have a physical copy of the VP novel in my house. I do subscribe to a Patreon doing a translation currently, so I will get the gist of the story at some point (it's just not top of the list right now). But like...how can you be surprised at these people pulling a bait and switch on you? You (I'm assuming) are fans of the show, the actors performances, yes? We've known spoilers about the absolute dumpster fire that is the VP novel for...2-ish months now. That story was not going to be good, quality-wise or storyline wise. We know that. So why would you ever put your money on it or on Daemi? Like...you done did this to yourself and I don't feel bad for you.
(Sidenote: I am making the assumption that everyone putting their money on this are legal adults and therefore are solely responsible for where they choose to spend their money. The show and books are clearly intended for adults. If you're a teen who wasted money on this...you shouldn't have been reading/watching it anyway.)

Beautiful description...atp I wanna ignore this little voice in my head which is crying over Kinn from the novel 😭💔
I say a lot that Kim and Vegas are pathetic or losers but I’d also like to add…so is Kinn.
But when I speak of him being a loser, he’s just super whipped for Porsche. I feel like he’s on the level of “if you smile, I’ll run into a door.”
Vegas is the level of “if you smile AT ME, I’ll run into a door.”
And Kim is just “I’m so antisocial, I might run into a door to get away from you” loser
There’s a huge difference.

Nonkul and Bright's experience in queer media prior to I Feel You Linger In The Air
So... I've fallen down the huge rabbit hole that is I Feel You Linger In The Air (even though I was already down bad earlier this year when I finished the novels) since the airing of the series. I've tried my best to consume everything translated IFYLITA-related content and now I'm here to summarize a few points I love about the (immaculate) casting of Nonkul and Bright.
For Nonkul
Prior to IFYLITA, Nonkul has had a few BL-adjacent projects:
2014 indie gay film "Love's Coming", where he plays a friend of the gay protagonist.
2016 sitcom series "Bang Rak Soi 9/1", where he plays a student with a crush on his straight best friend (main character played by Tongtong, who you may have known from To Sir With Love or Khun Chai)
2019 chinese bromance "Dive", where he plays the 2nd main lead who develops "strong friendship" with the protagonist as swimming teammates
But IFYLITA marks Nonkul's first time playing in a BL series where he is the protagonist.
Back in 2021, Nonkul posted this Q&A video on Facebook, where he answered the question "If you have a chance, would you consider playing in a BL series? If accepted, who do you to co-act with?". To which Nonkul went on a full long discussion on how he doesn't view BL as a genre and talks about what kind of role he would want to play (full clip below).
youtube
Transcript:
If that series is an interesting storyline for me, I am always open to any kind of genre. I never categorized BL series as an BL series, I just think of it as a series with another plot as part of my work. It is a normal series that can have any of the plots which I will categorize as Romantic Comedy, Drama or whatever. Thus, when I choose the BL series I want to work with, the love preference of the character does not affect my decision. If the plot of the series is interesting, of course I'm gonna do it for sure. Every work that I chose, I personally think it at least enjoyable for me. Of course, if in the future, there are BL series with plots that I find interesting, that I enjoyed the script. "Like, wow, that's my type!", I will definitely selected it to be my future project. A good written series is a good series. This is what I believe as an actor. - Nonkul
For BL Series, I think I can work with everyone. I don't think I have anyone in particular. One thing! I desire the character of that person/actor? to be close to the character in the series. At that point I will be satisfied. Sometimes, I as an actor have a chance to work with people who didn't have a lot of acting experience. I will still discover something new from him as well. And there is a BL novel which I really like! [Nonkul explains the plot of his favorite BL Novel 'Peremo'] I would prefer to choose the "heroine" role because it will be a new experience for me as an actor because it will be a new experience for me as an actor. Because basically I only play as a hero role for the main character or support character in my work, but a "heroine" role in a BL series is the only chance for me to play a character more feminine. So it is a new experience for me. [Nonkul continues raving about 'Peremo']. But if you think that you can make [an adaptation of Peremo], please do not forget me, Nonkul! Pleaseeeeeeee, I will do my best, I promise!!! However, I'm not only fixated on this novel. I'm also open for many more BL series if there is an interesting plot. - Nonkul
Interestingly the 3 checklists Nonkul mentioned his dream BL novel/character 'Peremo' had was 1. playing the 'heroine' role; 2. it has a LOT of action; 3. it is also sci-fi fantasy genre. And then in 2022, Nonkul booked 2 action dramas and IFYLITA which checked off criteria 1 and 3 of his wishlist (he mentioned it in this interview).
In 2022, at the beginning of IFYLITA announcement event, Nonkul mentioned that one of reasons that he accepted to play Jom in IFYLITA is that the story didn’t just put love scenes in just for fan services. Previously he had rejected some series because of that.
Nonkul read the novel prior to the acceptance of the role and you can tell he put a lot of care into bringing Jom to life (Nonkul immediately tweeting his apology after the pilot trailer is out about him accidentally using right hand to sketch (because Jom is left-handed), discussing various novel details with fans of the book at event, discussing how to punch Ohm like Jom would instead of punching him regularly as he would in other series, even giving book-film comparison commentaries in the BTS of the episodes)
Nonkul's physical and facial features are also so similar to Jom in the novel, especially his Chinese heritage is taken into account by the casting directors (Jom is also Thai of Chinese heritage iirc). Honestly kudos to P'Tee and co for snatching Nonkul.
For Bright
Prior to IFYLITA, Bright has played a supporting male gay character in the CH3 Lakorn 'Rivalry' and starred in PP Krit's MV 'It's Okay Not To Be Alright'.
But IFYLITA still marks Bright's first ever male lead role (ngl I was quite shocked when I found out about this because like the man is SIGNED to CH3, what are they doing?) AND his first official "BL" series.
Bright also accept the role of Khun Yai after he went to buy the novel and read them.
Before filming, Bright practiced a lot to portrayed Khun Yai as close to the novel as possible (the way Khun Yai walks with hands behind his back, his posture, him speaking in the different local dialect...)
Here are some translated interview questions Nonkul and Bright did before filming IFYLITA for bangkokbiznews that I found really interesting and want to share (original Thai article) (translated by twitter user lingerair/eugust)
Question: How is your individual characters? How are they similar or different from you? (1)
Nonkul: Jom and I are very different. Jom has soft and sensitive part. He cried so many times, and often gets upset with things that if it's me, I wouldn't be upset like him but his tears is already flowing. Bright: Khun Yai is quite similar with me. He's calm and wise. It's easy to be Khun Yai when I read the script. I try to put myself as Khun Yai. I'm Khun Yai and Khun Yai is me. I always think like this to be able to moderately act as Khun Yai.
Question: BL series has become a powerful "soft power". What do you about this? (2)
Nonkul: To be honest, whatever entertainment media it is, I view all of them as soft power but can't deny that during this period foreigners are especially interested in Thai Y series. I think it's a good thing. In the end, no matter what kind of content they are interested, it's a pleasant thing. Bright: Bright agrees (to that) very much. There are so many BL series with many fans both in and outside of the country, thus I think that it's good quality soft power in presenting a lot of things. Such as "I Feel You Linger In The Air" has a lot of Thai culture incorporated it in. Nonkul: Since it's period (series), it won't look like we're forcing Thai culture into (the series). We want foreigners to learn about how was it during the era and how it affects the present.
Question: This novel has a lot of fans waiting, do you feel pressured in taking a role in this? (3)
Nonkul: There's a little bit of pressure but personally, when I've worked till this point, I'm kinda used to this. I can say that I already have some expectations (for myself) and receive some pressures as a motivation in working but I'm not that stressed by it. Bright: Similar to Non, I'm a little bit pressured but we will both do our best, everyone will do their best. Fans has expectations because they want to watch the adaptation. We'll do it in our way and we hope everyone'll likes it.
As a huge fan of the novel, I just love how much love Nonkul and Bright have for the original novel and the amount "homework", care and dedication they have to crafting their characters to be as close as possible. I really hope everyone who have reservation or hesitance watching I Feel You Linger In The Air because you didn't vibe with previous Dee Hup House’s productions, should still give IFYLITA a chance (or at least try watching Episode 6 & 7) because it is seriously unlike any previous DHH’s productions (in all aspects: plot, direction, pacing, cinematography, music, lighting, color-grading, overall production…)

Porsche & Chay's Brotherhood in KinnPorsche the Series
Brotherhood and familial relationships are one of the most prominent themes in KP, as we all know.
And personally, I think one of the most fascinating and important deviations that BOC had chosen to take with their adaptation of the novel is having Porsche and Chay drift apart by the end of the story (despite that ending shot of them both hugging their Mama). By having them drift apart, their respective love stories with Kinn and Kim stands on a firmer note. They basically pulled a P&P 2005, which—although a disheartening thing to see—is one that I think was definitely a good choice, as it fits appropriately with KP’s narrative as a whole.
To provide some context, in the novel, Porsche is aware for the most part of Kim and Chay’s growing bond once it's introduced in the story. He doesn’t know the details, and neither Kim nor Chay are really forthcoming about their relationship to their older brothers (which BOC does keep somewhat in the show), but there is some awareness of it in the latter’s part. For Kinn specifically, it’s even a point of contention once or twice, since in being aware of Kim and Chay’s relationship (and knowing his brother’s personality), inevitably he worries about how their relationship would affect his relationship with Porsche. Like in the show, Porsche is understandably protective of Chay, and doesn’t want him getting involved any more than he has to.
Because of Porsche's awareness from the beginning, this allows for them to grow even closer as brothers near the finale of the story, since they both sympathize with each other’s frustrations of what it's like to be romantically involved with a Theerapanyakul, as well as how their respective relationships are perceived by outsiders.
For example, this exchange (Porsche’s POV) between Athee and the brothers when they run into him in their old house:
It’s made a point in the novel that Porsche and Chay’s relationship with their respective Theerapanyakul both follow the same trajectory (with a few differences, ofc), besides the fact that pretty much Kinn and Kim fell for the same personality traits and characteristics that the Kittisawasd brothers share. Lol
But in all seriousness, because they have a better understanding of each other due to how their respective romantic relationships have influenced them, they’re more in sync with how they make decisions together regarding their own family.
There’s a scene in the book (Porsche's POV) where Porsche accidentally cuts himself on his foot when he confronts Kinn in anger, once he finds out about Korn’s involvement in his parents’ deaths. He marches straight into Kim’s room and intends to take Chay away, but not before Chay helps him bandage up the cut and calms him down.
They share this poignant conversation, specifically about Chay’s relationship to Kim:
It's a very heartfelt exchange, because Porsche understands he has to take into account his own brother's relationship with Kim, that his actions and decisions also affects his little brother, besides the fact that Chay genuinely looks up to Porsche and sees him as his hero. In doing so, he also acknowledges Chay's maturity, and respects him in that regard, thus allowing for them to become a stronger unit together as brothers, one that's infinitely stronger than what the Theerapanyakul brothers have.
But the show—while keeping loyal to the same character dynamics for both relationships—turns this on its head entirely, and makes it so that Porsche is completely unaware of Chay's relationship to Kim. In making it so that Porsche is unaware, not only is he blindsided by how he protects and parents Chay (case in point: episode 14, bar fight scene), Porchay himself deliberately keeps him in the dark.
In turn, you get a somewhat heartbreaking exchange between the two of them, like this scene in episode 12 when Porsche tells Chay that he no longer has to go back to the compound (yknow, like a liar XD):
At first, Chay's line is supposed to come off as comforting for his older brother, but what goes unsaid rings just as loudly if not more than what he actually says to Porsche: "I don't need to know everything, right?" Just as you don't have to know everything and what I've been through recently.
Which brings me back to my original thesis: Porsche and Chay drift apart by the end of the show; BOC sacrifices their strong brotherly bond from the beginning, but in turn elevates both brothers’ romantic relationships to stand stronger within the narrative. We won’t ever get to know how well KimChay’s love story could have stood out against the other two had it followed a similar trajectory to KinnPorsche, but I will say that I’m of the firm opinion that KimChay’s original storyline in the show heavily contributed to Jeff and Barcode’s chemistry with each other.
In the show, Chay’s maturity is highlighted in the fact that perhaps for the first time in his life, he deliberately chooses not to involve Porsche in an aspect of his life, a big part of which no doubt, he probably wouldn’t want or know how to explain to his older brother in the first place. This is further compounded by the fact that it was partly due to Porsche’s absence that Chay had latched onto Kim as he did. Chay is a character who has a deep sense of self, and choosing not to involve Porsche in trying to figure out what to do with Kim superbly demonstrates the emotional complexity of his character, despite his young age.
It’s why it makes perfect sense that in the final episode, these two scenes are back-to-back, highlighting the rift between both brothers: we're shown how Chay is conflicted and sobbing about his feelings in light of Kim sending him the song, yet right after, the audience sees how Porsche has no hesitation in pledging his life to Kinn ("My entire life is all yours"), thereby effectively leaving Chay wide open and ready for the taking to the wolf (Kim).
It's almost sinister, to be quite frank, how BOC really did take that step in breaking the Kittisawasd brothers apart. Welp~
Chay is all too aware of the inevitability of change that will come in his life, including his relationship with his brother, as a result of Porsche's choices to join the mafia. Porsche too is very much aware deep down, hence his subsequent actions of downplaying his reasons and trying to maintain the status quo, aka falling back into the genuine affection he has for Chay, like he does in these two scenes, rather than properly explaining himself:
In both of these scenes, Porsche struggles to maintain eye contact with Chay, because he knows somewhere inside of himself that falling back and reiterating his love for Chay won't change the fact that his choice to stay in the mafia was as entirely selfish as it was selfless. Chay calls him out on the hypocrisy of his behavior, and he questions Porsche directly: "Was it really all for me? If it was really all for me, then why didn't you consider how I feel?"
After the kidnapping incident, both Porsche and Kim have a desire to maintain the status quo with Chay. This is shown by how Porsche falls back to voicing his love out loud to Chay as a way to avoid having to explain himself, and Kim by not sticking around outside the warehouse after he got Chay out, so he also wouldn't have to explain himself.
But whereas Porsche gets to successfully keep that illusion because his younger brother allowed it and gives it to him, Kim doesn't get to have the same. Chay doesn't give Kim the same consideration as he does with his brother, understandably so. Thus, the uncomplicated, free-of-misgivings sort of perception Chay had towards Kim quickly crumbles.
As a direct consequence, in the show, the one whom witnesses Chay's struggles of coming into his own as a result of being dragged into the world of the mafia is not Porsche, but Kim; it's Kim who finds out that Chay bailed on his interview at university, it's Kim who sees Chay rebel and partying and drinking, it's Kim who realizes how much danger Chay is still in, despite being away from the compound and the coup by the minor family.
And finally, per my thesis with my deep dive of the bar fight scene in episode 14, in the end it's Kim who's further drawing Chay in towards the world of the mafia and the underbelly of Bangkok.
Because Kim is the witness to all of these things in regards to Chay's character and his actions post!kidnapping, not only does he learn more about the boy he's fallen in love with, he has a deeper understanding of who Chay is that Porsche doesn't have. That in turn makes their love story much stronger in the show, as opposed to the book, despite their bittersweet ending.
Although deviating away from that crucial point of Porsche and Chay's relationship in the book, it nonetheless fulfills the same aspect in the book that by the end of the first KP story, Chay has somewhat matured due to his relationship with Kim, as well as the trust placed on him by his older brother (careless the trust though may be in the show).
Having Porsche and Chay drift apart by the end of the show illustrates one of KP's strongest, most important themes: Falling in love is a very humbling experience. Having said that, love itself is also a very selfish, self-serving emotion.
#kinnporsche#kimchay#meta#I love these two so much#the depth of BOC's storytelling with KP astounds me yet again#kpts meta#kpts novel

Tay and Kinn
Tay and Kinn's friendship is one of my favourite dynamics on the show. All throughout, we see examples of Tay being a good friend (the best friend) to Kinn, like when he encourages him to lighten up around Porsche in episode 4, asks him to open his heart again in 7, and helps him figure out what to do for Porsche’s birthday in 11.
We don’t really see examples of Kinn being a good friend to Tay, but I think that's implied by this line in episode 12:
Obviously Tay is referring to Kinn's romantic relationship with Porsche here (securing his best friend status once again), but I think he's coming at this from personal experience - that Kinn has always been there, loving Tay, throughout the ups and downs of their long friendship.
Unfortunately, this scene also gives us an example of how Kinn's failed Tay, in missing the harm that Time has done to him:
Maybe this is an honest mistake on Kinn's part. After all, the only hint we see him get of Time's infidelity is in episode 2, where he 'jokes' about Porsche and Tay shuts him down, seemingly (from Kinn's perspective) with no hurt feelings:
But maybe this is a choice Kinn makes, to look the other way when Time plants bright red flags right in front of him. After all, Time is Kinn's friend too, and when Kinn loves someone, he doesn't stop loving them easily.
Even when he should.
#kinnporsche#kprewatch2023#tay#kinn#porsche#time#ep 12#ep 2#novel kinn does know I think#but I don’t fully blame show kinn if he does too#it’s hard when you love someone#and they show you they’re not who you thought they were#see also: his dad and tawan#still shitty not to intervene though#(edit: though folks are right there’s not much kinn could do)#(other than being there for tay)#(and being less indulgent of time)
