A SNEER LACED WITH CONTEMPT flashes across his visage, severe and brutally unremitting, monarchal grandeur undercut in visions of unparalleled violence, the perfect lines of his physiognomy creasing with each aural indication of his treasures being treated as mere toys. Gilgamesh’s back begins turned, lashes fluttering to near close though sufficing little to obscure the hyperbrutality of the radiant alizarin surging from narrowing eyes, as though no pavilion could suffice to quarter their seething lush. The king’s solid form remains unerringly dignified as he crosses his arms beneath his chest, chin ever-raised, his vociferation cold-flame cataclysm in F# Major, baryton-noble bone-chilling. “I now see why the servant rabble think you paradoxical, Destroyer. Your insolence alone serves as confirmation. Only the greatest treasures should exist in these halls, yet here you stand before me, sullying this golden fact.”

THE average trespasser would be MERCILESSLY SKEWERD, their remains a warning, leaving minimal doubt as to the presumed fate of one who treated the contents of his treasury as if they were above such repudiation. It was an act often inspired by some degree of ignorance, folly, or some bastard composite. All permutations met the same fate. Yet in this vault, beyond the standard governances of space and time, such physics-based perturbations would not affect the integrity of his collection. This fact does ill to quell his simmering ire at such insolence — such brazen display of inscience. Destroyer was hardly worthy of gazing upon that which it held, let alone marring it with its touch. Everything within the Gate of Babylon presided there because it possessed an unimpeachable value — a value Gilgamesh declared as King. Invaluable had he deemed each one without exception, deserving of his plunder and judgment. 

SO worthy were the creations of Man, the endlessness of his coffers testament to the fact that mankind had yet to be exhausted of its greatest possibilities. 

AND here this Servant was, treating that space as its personal playground. He ought to return the treatment in such brutal kind, the nature of his environs the only deterrent from such retribution. The thought of further sullying his treasures bordered on sin. 

“I shall not entertain value judgments from a child who possesses no scale. I see a husk that thinks itself grand, lacking both the lifetimes and perspective to properly appraise even a mere stone. In this you are but a mayfly. Your words are meaningless.” The King concludes, with minimal tarry, that the even the smallest treasure here possessed a greater value than what could be comprehended by the Foreigner, who appeared in possession in several misapprehensions — including the notion that anything in his possession existed for its personal amusement, and that its puerile antics were worthy of his time. He felt no need for the debasement inherent in explication. After all, he did not try to convince the gods of man’s worth in liberation — he simply cut the shackles they imposed and let them rot without another word. 

REMAINING still, as though permitting the sun to shine upon an unworthy mote of dust, the King turns his head, aureate cilia framing serpentine rubies slitted with uncut derision, his sonorous voice equally merciless. “You are boring, Destroyer, perhaps even more than you are an annoyance. The only gratification a small mind can pay to a great one is remaining fallen when slaughtered, and even that you fail to offer me.

“Though you may mystify the mongrels below, your common blindness is no enigma. The only mystery is why you associate yourself with man when you fail to see value in their creations.”

Weird thing: I poked my nose into a new thing and found an artist who took the thing, made an AU (sort of? It's a sort of lovecraftian horror which may or may not exist in the canon. (I hope it does.)) and it's really ... pretty is the wrong word. I'm aware it has nothing to do with canon but still...

Here is a lesson of blood;

The ground ignites beneath each hissing step of cosmic magic and is burned from the pacing of a being that bleeds the dust of ancient spirits and eats the flesh of stars.  He moves in shadow, chest aflame with blood magic that burned into each section of flesh until he’s dripping dark sorcery across the ley lines that cross beneath the floorboards.

He had been a man, once, the matchstick boys whispered as they dodged around the old sorcerer’s unlit pyre.

He had been a hero, too. One who faced the end of worlds, breathing out destruction that refused to return back to the abyss and clung, clung, clung to his bones and skin. It ate through his mind, consuming his memories and then letting them drip out back through its teeth, poisoned by bile and tar.

Friends were lost, lovers swallowed.

All that remained was the magic, the pain.

And the blood.

Based on your research, do you have any headcanons for the unknown tattoos of important yakuza characters? Like Kazama/Kashiwagi/Arakawa/etc.

I am unsure whether a simple or full tattoo would be best for these characters, so I have given an idea for both the main subject and a flower/plant motif for each. Keep in mind these are just some ideas, some of which are unlikely, but I thought were fun. I would love to hear other peoples’ thoughts on tattoo possibilities.

Arakawa Masumi

Based on Ichiban and Jo's dragonfish tattoos, which the creators have said are in honor of Arakawa, I feel like a dragon is likely. However, something related to his history as an onnagata (male actor specializing in female roles) in his family's Taishu Engeki troupe is also a possibility.

Maybe the Dragon King Ryujin and one or more of his daughters? This would also play into Arakawa's role as a father to Ichiban and Masato, as well as the rest of the men in his family.

As for a plant, the woman Arakawa fell in love with was named “Akane,” which is the name for a plant (Rubia cordifolia- “Common/Indian Madder”) whose roots are used to make a deep red pigment used in paints and dyes (Alizarin crimson is a synthetic version of Akane red).  The plant itself is not an ornamental, so it would make for a unique addition.

Kashiwagi Osamu

I feel like something that reflects Kasiwagi's role as an advisor would be a good choice. Yatagarasu comes to mind- a gigantic 3-legged crow (yatagarasu means "8-span crow" 8 "span" = 144cm or about 4'8") sent by the sun goddess Amaterasu to guide the first emperor, Jimmu, to Japan. The 3 legs are said to represent heaven, earth, and humanity as well as wisdom, benevolence and valor.

Kashiwagi is one of the first characters to "rise from the dead" long after supposedly dying, so a little something to foreshadow that would be good. Wisteria, Chrysanthemums, and peach blossoms are all used to symbolize immortality, so one of those would be a good choice. I went with wisteria for the eyecatch image simply because I like it.

Kasama Shintaro

Kasama really gave me some hell choosing a main subject for a tattoo. He's a very important character to the Kiryu saga, who leaves a lasting impression on the series as a whole.

I settled on Jizo, a popular god in Japan who takes on dozens of forms to protect people against everything from childbirth to headaches. (There are several Jizo statues in the games, namely 5 and 6) He is most well-known as a protector of children, as he helps guide them to the afterlife, but he also takes on the wounds of warriors, watches over travelers. He also acts as defense when the dead are judged, and oversees the punishments in hell so as to ensure they are not too severe, taking on the pain of the sufferers. He is commonly portrayed as a portly, child-like figure, but can also be depicted as a man in monk's robes. Jizo is said to take on the wounds and suffering of others, and Kazama dies shielding Haruka from harm.

A sunflower motif would make sense, given the orphanage he created. Though originally from the Americas, sunflowers were introduced to Japan during the Edo period. Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty, and longevity. They are also known for their unique ability to remove toxins like lead, arsenic, and uranium from soil.  The Sunflower Orphanage was built as penance for the murders Kasama has done as a yakuza assassin.

Personality: On the outside, Vulture is a proud dragon with quite the unique temper. Somethings don't set him off but other things will. Within closed doors, the retired gladiator is cold and conniving, blowing smoke out of his nose whilst in deep thought.

Life Before Rulership: Vulture tends to keep his past close to himself, near no dragon knowing of his dragonethood. What is known is that he was always found in the gladiator ring, fighting other dragons mercelessly as he made his way to the top. He's said that he had only climbed the SkyWing royalty ladder to fight stronger enemies, but was disappointed.

Interesting Quote: "You IceWings had your moment with Animus magic, creating all of your gifts until your last one ran away. I want to ammend the mistakes of my ancestors and grant my tribe one last chance at magic."

Why No Longer Ruler: In server canon, a 100 years have passed in between the old and new map. Vulture retired from the throne to spend the rest of his life with his husband, Fog.

Last movie at home: Hmmmmm not 100% sure? I think it was this stop-motion animation thing called the House, on netflix. It was really good, dark comedy/speculative horror type stuff, the ending really feels uplifting but the first two stories are whooooo boy they are a bit fucked up
