Steve Aoki @ EDC Orlando 2014 (Part 1 of 2)

Oh, we’re getting real close to EDC Orlando 2017 now, ain’t we?  Did you get your shipping notification about your tickets yet?  I sure did!  If you haven’t, I’m sure that’s no big deal... they’re probably printing them in order of purchase.  I ordered one for me the day they went on sale, and I got e-mailed about that one only... the one the husband of the guy behind The Big Gay Lion hasn’t gotten his notification yet, but he didn’t order until much later.  But... we’re almost in OCTOBER!  That’s, like, the LAST MONTH before November!  While I was excited (and doing research for this post), I ended up checking the official EDC Orlando website, and noticed something:  Wilkinson is out, and a B2B featuring DC Breaks and Loadstar is in!  I wonder what happened there... Wilkinson was at circuitGROUNDS, so I imagine this new B2B will be scheduled for that venue.  The two new additions are both drum and bass acts, so it makes perfect sense that they would do that.  Guess I’ll have to keep a closer eye on the official site to see if any new, unannounced surprises slip in!  Anyway, you can tell I’m excited, and as such, I wanted to so one of my favorite shows from EDC Orlando’s past.  Let it be known you’re only looking at the first half of the original post for this performance.  If you need part two, go here!

Oh yeah, Steve Aoki!  His specific brand of music is a bit out there, and there was a nice feature of him in The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience documentary, so I knew the show was going to be crazy... it was.  SO crazy!  I didn’t take one photo or set of Burst Photos during this whole set.  Enjoy the video stimuli!  But first, let's start with an interstitial:

I’m with this, I’m down with the theme, I think it’s cool, but like... will there be science experiments at EDC this year or not....

This year’s theme is kineticENERGY -- which is awesome for so may reasons. 

For those not familiar with science terms, kinetic energy means energy which a body possesses by virtue of being in motion -- and what are we at EDC but in motion?

“Think of the potential,” says Bill Nye. “Hundreds of thousands of people moving their bodies, freeing their minds, and dancing to music under the glow of spectacular light. “We'll convert all this potential to a carnival of kinetic energy!”

Past EDC themes were kineticFIELD, kineticCATHEDRAL, kineticTEMPLE, kineticGAIA and kineticLOVE.

EDC Las Vegas takes place May 17-19, 2019 with camping again and is an absolute blast each year. I won’t be going this year (SO BUMMED) but I hope you all have a blast, and I’ll keep sharing updates as I see them.

Insomniac’s Founder Just Revealed The EDC 2020 Theme!

Today, Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac Founder and CEO, unveiled the theme for the 2020 Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas through a special Instagram message. This year, Headliners will celebrate mindfulness with kineticZEN at the world’s largest dance music festival.

Insomniac Cancels EDC New York for 2017, Announces First EDC Japan

Insomniac Cancels EDC New York for 2017, Announces First EDC Japan

Insomniac Events has announced the cancellation of Electric Daisy Carnival New York in 2017 and the debut of Electric Daisy Carnival Japan next spring.

Pasquale Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac, first revealed the news on Sunday (Dec. 4) in a Facebook post that provided an update on Insomniac’s future plans and priorities.

“Although EDC New York 2017 was one of my favorites hosted in the Big Apple, we’ve decided to take a break in 2017,” he explains. “We hope many of you East Coast headliners will join us in Vegas.”

EDC Japan’s inaugural edition will take place at Zozo Marine Stadium and Makuhari Beach in Tokyo on April 29 and 30 next year. The collaboration between Insomniac and partners GMO Internet Group, Creativeman and Live Nation Japan is EDC’s fifth international destination.

“Dance music has become a global phenomenon that we are fortunate enough to share with our EDC communities around the world in India, Mexico, and the UK,” says Rotella in a statement. “Taking EDC to Japan has been a goal that’s years in the making, and I can’t wait to deliver something really special in 2017.”

Early bird tickets for EDC Japan will go on sale from Thursday (Dec. 9) at 7 p.m. PT to Friday (Dec. 9 at 11 p.m. PT) here; information on the general pre-sale will be announced soon. 

“To everyone who has been looking forward to EDC, the wait is over. I’m so excited to finally be able to announce EDC Japan 2017 today,” said GMO Internet Group Founder & Group CEO, Masatoshi Kumagai. “Last year, GMO Internet celebrated its 20th anniversary. This timing just so happens to coincide with EDC’s 20th anniversary as well. We want to put a smile on the face of everyone who comes into contact with the GMO Internet Group. We’re planning to make EDC Japan an amazing music festival, so please be excited.”

EDC Japan will feature a reimagined version of the event’s iconic kineticCATHEDRAL stage, a structure that premiered at EDC’s flagship event in Las Vegas in 2014 and has toured New York, Orlando, UK, Brazil, Mexico and India.

Happy March, all!  I realized after last week’s post that I only had one more bit to share from my first EDC Orlando, back in 2014, so I decided I might as well wrap up that festival and make it this week’s #ThrowbackThursday!  This is it, baby.  THIS IS ALL I GOT FOR 2014.  As a celebration of finally completing my original year’s original goal of posting all my content (in a better way than I posted it the first time, which was *cough* hastily done, and primarily for a few friends of the guy behind The Big Gay Lion), I’m gonna debut a feature I’ve been meaning to create for quite some time:  an index of all my posts!  It’s got various alphabetical (like Insomniac would approve of) and chronological listings of my posts.  I’ll add it to my blog header (and post footer!) so you can get to it from anywhere!
