Behind him, footsteps. And a voice says, “You’re the shoemaker?”

There is a moment where Patroclus only has the impression of gold—golden curls resting against broad tanned shoulders and a gold circlet hidden in his hair—before separate features emerge to create the image of a prince, finely albeit simply dressed in a white shirt tucked into a pair of dark blue pants.

“The shoemaker’s apprentice,” Patroclus corrects him gently. He bows just a little. Green eyes watch as he does. “I’m here to take some measurements. For your new—” His eyes fall on the prince’s feet and the words die in his throat. He’s wearing a heavy wooden shoe on his left foot and a cloth slipper on the other. Patroclus tries to take it in stride but finds himself looking questioningly at the prince.

“You are curious about my shoe,” the prince says. His voice is perfectly steady, unreadable.

In the tiny kingdom of Phthia, a golden prince is cursed with invulnerability except for a vulnerable heel. An exile apprenticed to a shoemaker is commissioned by the palace to create a shoe the prince can fight in.

A fairy tale about a curse, a magical shoe, a war, a doomed hero, an exile, destiny, and love despite everything.

A new era

It's a new era and we're changing things up into something more sustainable for once. Because of work and not having any ideas for what to do with this account, I just left it there. Even though I love to just browse through my feed and engage with all the beautiful stuff that's posted by art accounts on this platform, there was no way for me to contribute to any of that. All I've been doing to de-stress lately has been to just create an abnormal amount of Spotify playlists by combining new music I discover with some of my favorite photographs from Unsplash.

That did sound like something I could share. Everyone makes their own playlists and they're unique to them, which is something that I found really exciting. Because even though everyone has those "3 am thoughts" and "that one feeling" playlists, they all have different songs in them. So, in that respect, there's always a story behind a playlist for everyone. And there's always a playlist that you'll find has not a single song you skip over.

Maybe in my posts, you'll find at least one song that really changes your life in some way, or just reconnects you to old music tastes you had and that awakens something entirely new. I'm also doing this because I want to develop my own music knowledge, 'expand my horizons' as it goes. So if you encounter this post at some point in your own feed or whatever, do take a look at my playlist covers and see if there's anything that speaks to you.

Even if you don't find anything new or interesting, you could leave your own suggestions for music that you think fits the vibe I'm going for in each of the selections. I'm open to any and all feedback. I also plan to have some collaborative playlists for the Spotify users out there who feel up to the challenge of having their name show up next to their favorite tracks. I always support those who take credit for the things they love.

Let's see where this goes, shall we? I'm not expecting a whole lot of interest, because not everyone turns their moments of procrastination into passion projects (which is probably healthier, I wouldn't know), but still. Kind of excited to be here for the journey.
