ok forgive me for my less active posting, finals are next week and dead week is absolutely killing me this semester 😭

anyway! I said I'd talk about this later and then never said anything lol so here I am

on my close friends insta story, I talked about past experiences with older men trying to go after me and mentioned a classmate I had last semester who was 48 and just generally kinda weird

I went to abelard's office the next day basically to say thank you for dealing with my anxiety the other day about my outfit and I said "I know I probably crossed a couple lines.." and he shook his head and said it was fine, then said "it was incredible...you say things that--you can be so quiet, but then you say things about things that might be weird and I don't think I could do that" which he's told me something similar before but it was interesting to hear it again

anyway, then he was like, "I'll ask something that is maybe inappropriate" (I was like😲😲😲 🤨🤨🤨 what is he gonna ask??) he lowered his voice and asked "who is this guy that-" (asking about the classmate I had mentioned)

I explained that he def didn't know him, and then I explained the whole story/my experiences with this guy (don't really wanna retell that here rn) and abelard was grimacing and cringing at all the stuff that this guy did. I finished talking and he said "at least it's good fodder for a story" and when I didn't really react he said "is that inappropriate to say?" I said no it was fine to joke about it lol

Since we were on the topic, I told him about my experiences with a coworker I once had and again abelard was totally disgusted by the stuff this guy did/said.

Then he said, "Well, I'm glad you never had any experiences with our colleague" I asked who he meant and when he told me I said "oh..hm, yeah" which obviously made him curious so I explained that this other professor had given me weird vibes, I caught him staring at my chest a lot, and he once said something to me about my face/appearance when I didn't wear a mask to class, so nothing serious but I just had a feeling. I said, "it's really good to know that [he has a history of being gross with students] though"

I also told him a joke that I like to make after these experiences with the coworker and classmate: "my ability to pull middle aged men is insane" and he laughed so hard at that like threw back his head laughing hahaha, then I told him the joke like "i thought 39 [coworker's age] was bad, god said try 48 [clasmate's age]" which he also thought was funny.

he said "But we're in the clear now?" I said "yeah, no middle aged men trying to go after me" then he said, "yeah, any 50 year olds-" and stopped himself to ask, "Is that ok to say?" because not only was he joking about me being harassed by older men, but also joking about the progressing age gaps LOL I thought it was so funny

Also I was a little embarrassed during this whole convo because 1. I have a crush on him 2. he is an older, middle aged man and here I was talking about older, middle aged men harassing me 😭😭😭 he thought it was fine though and didn't mind talking about it

but Basically if you go into the comment section of any post where there's discourse about polarizing topics, a display of something "weird" or "cringe" but ultimately harmless (or even something that is NOT that weird!!!!!), or even just a joke that is going over peoples' heads, you tend to see comments where people will act confused, shocked, or suspicious in a way that is just. playing stupid.

it's comments that are just "bro..." or "huh" or "🤨" or "😨" for no fucking reason. you see "umm..." commented under tiktoks of fat or disabled people showing off their outfits. you see "huh" commented under things where someone's talking about politics in more complicated terms. you see a bunch of "😨😨" commented under tumblr posts where someone makes a joke and then even EXPLAINS the joke in the notes or tags, but people dont look at it bc they just wanna act scandalized instead.

those are the ones that piss me off the most because they're so stupid!!! so useless!!! they're so vague because the person either doesnt know enough with substance to actually argue about anything, or is too much of a coward to make a direct insult, but they still gotta take up space Somehow. the most infuriating shit is when people comment that stuff on a video of an autistic person being ~weird~ and, when asked what they mean by it, just respond with more "😶" or whatever. its such a weird form of cyberbullying! how did the internet find a way to emulate getting stared at in the middle school hallway via comment sections!!

the judgment also comes in the form of suspicion made from Nothing. like back when i used tiktok (why did i do that to myself) i had people who were mad about me calling myself a lesbian go back to year-old posts where i made shipping jokes to comment "🤨" and shit like that. not even abt "problematic" ships or anything, just whatever they could possibly imply a problem into.

its like!! what do you want??? every time i see ppl say that shit i wanna just go "use your words :)" and often "use your Eyes :)))))" because they will freak out over stuff that they literally did not bother to look into for an explanation. they just wanna be spoonfed! its so stupid! instead of just scrolling or at least Arguing a Point they just decide "yknow how should i approach this thing i dont like or dont understand? imply like the subject is deranged/suspicious/creepy/weird in the most childish way possible!" and i cannot stress how banal some of the stuff is that gets FLOODED with comments like that. fat person in a swimsuit! adult woman in pastels! drawing with blood in it! art sculpture that doesn't look cutesy or minimalist! people dating with a 4 year age gap! politics that use big words!

and when they are using a comment that (miraculously) goes over 8 characters, its the kind of thing like "the way i almost had a heart attack 😰😰" like what do they want me to say!! ohhh are you a baby? are you a little baby?? did it scare you that bad??? do you need me to call an ambulance because you had to see a cringe person???? god forbid a cringe and maybe kinda horny or gay person???? maybe even one with unpopular opinions?????

8. What project(s) are you currently working on?

mentioned this in another ask but since i finished twotl i've been working on an original wip which i'm super excited abt!! but since this is fic asks: i have one mostly finished amnesia fic wip that just needs the final push (and has needed the final push for like three months now but shhh) but my others are much more fun!! i have a byclair wip that's just barely started but i do plan on finishing someday, as well as the cringefail fic as ur very aware :)) and finally there's the canon compliant(ish) mike character study that i've been slowly plugging away at forever and am kinda just using as a vent fic slash jumping off point for other stuff but i do plan on publishing eventually!! i'm just enjoying taking it slow w that one i think

20. What’s a favorite title for a fic you’ve written?

HANDS DOWN the windows of this love i am honestly so so proud of myself for that one i think it describes the concept perfectly (plus i had the fun bonus of using other death by a thousand cuts lyrics for each individual chapter which i also slayed if i do say so myself)

mm probably the windows of this love just bc it was a concept that hadn't rly been expanded on in that way before?? like obviously exes fics are decently popular but the whole breakup scene and the five years thing was a Lot so i was nervous to see how it would be received (also since it was a chaptered fic i was also nervous that it Wouldn't be received since some of y'all are weird little freaks abt not reading unfinished wips🤨but i digress)

Bruno Madrigal fanfiction rant

Okay so, I think I've read all the fanfics there is about Bruno (Bruno x reader/oc specifically) and as always, some are good, some are bad, whatever, but I gotta say I'm mainly dissatisfied?? Lemme explain

First of all, the age gaps. I think you are all forgeting that Bruno is 50. In most fics the reader/oc is a lot younger, still an adult, but a young adult, which is legal and all but kinda weird, I think it would be best if the reader/oc was middle aged or 50 too

The reader/oc's mostly has no character. Maybe this one is just me but, imagine your husband suddenly dissappears and then comes back after almost 10 years like nothing happened...Like yeah, you're happy and all but AREN'T YOU ANGRY?? AT ALL?? Like "-where were you??" "I was here all along, inside the walls" "YOU WHAT?". Or another trope I've seen it's the "Reader/oc has a vision where they are together in the future" which is cool, but again, imagine a man you don't know shows you a vision where you are married, like "is this a joke 🤨 are you doing this on purpose?" Give me some good character development 😩

CHILDREN. Imagine again, that your husband leaves you all alone but this time, you're pregnant/have children IT'S JUST WORSE. Not to mention, don't you think that if Bruno had children maybe he wouldn't have left? Because he had his own family? Just a theory. ALSO, and again, when he comes back, he is 50, and dealing with trauma, and catching up on everything he missed, I don't think he would want to have children after he comes back

Keep in mind the time and place. Colombia in (most likely) the early 20th century, I'm tired of seeing super white oc's with English names making modern culture references. Research what is like to live in a small town in South America. (Edit: I know there's white latinos and also names with English origins are somewhat common in Colombia so I'm sorry about that, as long as your oc is colombian then it's fine ig)

Anyways, this are some things that kind of bothered me, I'm not trying to bash anyone's writing skills or destroy anyone's dreams, I'm just saying maybe you should keep this things in mind if you're gonna write Bruno x reader/oc fanfiction

And yeah the amount of mid 20+yr olds writing smut for them concerns me too like I'm not super older than lo'ak/neteyam so I never feel weird writing but whenever I see like a 25yr old writing for them it sometimes feels weird.

i’m also the same as you, i’m not much older than neteyam so i don’t find an issue with expressing how attractive he is. but people who are much older than 18 should chill out a bit 💀 some try and justify the fact that their actors are now 19 or 21 but when they filmed it they were 14 and 15 so it doesn’t rly make any sense.

also side note, why do writers age up all characters BUT Tuk?? they be aging all her siblings and friends but then keeping her 7. the sibling age gap is astronomical.
