Of the skellies who has the biggest sweet tooth/ weakness for sugary stuff?

Undertale Sans - As long as it's edible... He still prefers salty food though. Sans is not very difficult, he likes everything and doesn't complain. He used to live so much time without eating properly that he cherishes any kind of food, really. Except lettuce. He hates lettuce. Grillby sometimes put some in his burger to cut him off lol.

Undertale Papyrus - He likes sugary stuff a lot more than he pretends to. He still tries to have a good diet, but ok, he might have night craves sometimes. He even let Toriel scold Frisk once for the disappearance of her cinnamon butterscotch pie. He can't help it. He's very selective with what he's eating though.

Underswap Sans - He's pretty normal about this, but he tends to avoid sugary stuff because his job requires a good diet so he keeps being. This and because he gets easily excited and he doesn't like it when he's in a sugar rush.

Underswap Papyrus - He would be fine eating only cakes, honey and chocolate for his entire life. Blue said he has a sugar addiction, but Honey answered back that since it's coming from childhood, it's not his fault but his, which efficiently shuts Blue's mouth up.

Underfell Sans - Meh. He's doesn't really have a sweet tooth. He doesn't hate sugary stuff, but he loves spicy things too much to feel anything for them.

Underfell Papyrus - He hates sugar (and spicy) food as well. He prefers salty normal food, that he cooks from home, with lots of vegetables. He despises his brother's food habits and refuses to be like him.

Horrortale Sans - He doesn't care, he likes everything. Losing the ability to eat what you want for 16 years kinda helped with that. As long as it's food, he's happy.

Horrortale Papyrus - He's not difficult either, but yeah, he still has a strong sweet tooth. He loves to bake cakes after difficult tasks or gift himself some nice expensive chocolate. He missed all of this way too much Underground.

Swapfell Sans - He's hiding it very well but he has a huge love for sugary stuff, to the point he has a hiding place in his room full of candy and chocolate bars. He's craving for it, but tries to hide it to everyone. Only a few know.

Swapfell Papyrus - Nah, he likes very spicy food, the kind of food that after you eat it, you can't feel anything anymore. That's his kind of food (with chicken McNuggets, of course). He doesn't like sweet things.

Fellswap Gold Sans - He doesn't hate sweet things, but it's not his favorite. He still eats some with Coffee once in a while, but only a little. Too much gives him nausea.

Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He loves hot chocolate and will give you puppy eyes every time you're making one. He could die for hot chocolate with marshmallows every day. He loves chocolate in general and will never say no to some.

I don't know how you feel about UT, but since you hate certain popular characters, I hope that you agree with me when I say this... Papyrus is WAY better than his brother... I honestly deeply dislike Sans, cause he lied about promising to protecting a kid for Toriel, then tells Frisk that he would've destroyed Frisk and then the lazy arrogant jerk CHUCKLES at the idea of Frisk dying... Despite all that, he's still BFFs with Toriel and we don't have the option to tell her the truth?!... Their friendship feels like such a lie... I prefer the idea of Papyrus and Toriel being BFFs instead; they have more in common (they both love cooking, learning and puns, although Papyrus would deny it + they both don't want to kill anyone) and Papyrus would be a better friend to Toriel + Frisk in general! :)

In my opinion... i'm completely meh towards sans, but i have to admit that it becomes kinda annoying to search for UT fics and filter all the ones that has Sans ships.

Papyrus... i agree, i love him and his interactions with the other characters, specially with undyne 😊.

I have to admit that i'm not that attached to Sans thanks to his popularity rather than his overall character, unlike bakugou that i despised since the first chapter and believe that he's the worst and most boring part of my hero academia.

Also, i haven't played undertale in years so i don't know if these feelings still hold up, so you can take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I saw some people doing it not too long ago so I don't know if it's back or something but like I'll do it too lol

I'm planning on doing more, but here's the first bunch with my OC, David.

The art styles that I attempted to do: mine (lol easy mode), Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Steven Universe, Undertale, Doki Doki Literature Club, Night In The Woods, Gloomverse, Sally Face, Fran Bow, Hilda, Pepto Abysmal and The Skybox.

I'm not sure how many more I'll be doing, but the next batch will be a different OC.

I don't think I did super well, but my friend helped me fix some mistakes and told me it was good, so I'll take her word for it.

@justsuha​ filled this out, and I felt like doing the same.  Kinda felt they didn’t have the best categories so maybe I shouldn’t have bothered, also tried not being too repetitive with my picks. Favourite Game - Final Fantasy VI, this was an easy one for me.  One of the first games I ever played, then I came back to it around like 12-14 years old and it was the first game I ever played on an emulator, then it was one of the first games I ever watched an LP on, one of the first game I ever started playing with mods, and yeah, I’ve just played this game a lot in my life. Best Story - Mass Effect (1), could’ve gone with FFVI again but eh, and maybe Hollow Knight but I feel like the world building in ME1 is crazy-deep and unparalleled.  Maybe that’s not story in like a “plot” sense, but it’s what I settled on. Favourite Art Style - Killer7, was a comfortable pick but Persona 5 is also a really crisp game.  Also thought about other things that are more atmospheric like Metroid Prime, Hollow Knight, or Bloodborne. Favourite Soundtrack - Final Fantasy VI, like I said, didn’t want to be repetitive, so there was games that had like a banger of a track like Papers, Please, or something like Super Meat Boy, but I couldn’t really justify anything being equal to FFVI.   Hardest Game - Dragon Age: Origins, Felt like a Soulsborne game was the “gimme” answer so I wanted to swerve a bit.  DA:O is hard as fuck, if you’re not optimizing your build you’re not beating that game.  Even on “easy” I’m like chill man Funniest Game - Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, was tempted to go Undertale but since that’s kind of just a parody game I feel like it had a lot more liberties it could take to still be funny.  TTYD is super funny while still being like it’s own game. Game I like that everyone hates - Gears of War 2, some kid in Gr. 11 said I should get a 360 and play that, and so I did.  I played the online mode so much, but it never really felt like a popular competitive game.  I liked being so beefy, it’s basically just one-shotting people with shotguns is the meta and so the whole stalking someone to close the gap to be in range was super fun to me.  Campaign kinda trash and my friend wanted to get an achievement for co-op beating it on the hardest difficult that was miserable for me, but I think it’s a really fun game to play with some great audio too, the SFX are top notch. Game I hate that everyone likes - Borderlands, hate is a strong word but man I don’t really care about this game at all and people have been hyping it up for a decade. Underrated Game - Catherine, all my irl friends I tell about this game don’t know what it is, until I remind them and they go “oh yeah, that game looked weird/was too hard.” don’t know anyone who’s actually played more than an hour of it.  It’s one of my all-time faves, though. Overrated Game - Breath of the Wild, my wife says I didn’t give it a “fair shake” but I played like 20 hours and zzz... was tempted to go with a Pokemon game too, but it’s more a franchise in general than a specific game. Best Voice Acting - Yakuza Kiwami, I didn’t really have any real opinions on a game having good voice acting; generally they don’t.  Yakuza is all VA’d in Japanese so that’s probably why, but it felt pretty cool and was the only thing that I could think of actively enhanding a VG experience.  Maybe shoulda gone GTA (3 or San Andreas), both are really dated and definitely don’t sound that good anymore but one of my favourite games to listen to dialogue from. Worst Voice Acting - Metroid: Other M, not bad in terms of the actual talent of the VA’s but damn if it doesn’t ruin everything about Samus as a character.  “REMEMBA ME?!” Favourite Male - Kazuma Kiryu, was tempted to go General Leo from FFVI, but couldn’t find an image big enough before I resized this, which I could have easily worked around, but I also really like the Dragon of Dojima! It’s weird because he seems like such a simple design but he’s just badass in the right way, and I don’t know why more games can’t get it right.   Favourite Female - Franziska von Karma, from the 2nd Ace Attorney game.  For some reason had a huge crush on her, when I was younger I even drew some fanart of her which I ain’t done for nobody but her and Broly. Favourite Protagonist - Samus Aran, wanted to go with a “franchise” character and Samus is always super cool (except in Other M), I’ll always be excited to play her in some new game.   Favourite Village - Kakariko Village, felt like kind of a weird question, ‘cuz like if it was favourite area or something, I could have put some other stuff (Greenpath in Hollow Knight for example), and being a village I feel like basically limits you to medieval games but not the main hub either as that’s “a city.”  But Ocarina of Time’s Kakariko Village is always really fun to roll in to, also thought of the Goron Village, or just any village in Secret of Mana because that village theme is soo good. Most Hated Character - Nathan Drake, have barely even played Uncharted, but I just always hate any character with his personality, and he’s the biggest and most well-known.  Maybe he’s fine but meh. First Game You Played - Super Mario World, can’t say for 100%, but this and Super Mario Kart were games I was playing a lot since at like 4 or 5 my older brother owned them and they’re the most baby friendly.  Also remember playing a lot of PC games that my dad had, Timon and Pumba pinball, Chip’s Challenge, Ski Free, and stuff like that.  Skunny Kart Racing for DOS but I never understood how to get to DOS. Favourite Company - Bioware, I don’t really care about gaming companies in general, but Mass Effect and DA:O are some of my favourite games.  I might say Square as well but they do a lot of stuff.   Hated Company - Ubisoft, don’t hate them all but I just feel like they only make games I have zero interest in. Depressing Game - Doki Doki Literature Club, this and creepy are kinda really similar I feel, but I went DDLC but I kinda forget how it even ends.  I just remember feeling bummed about the purple and pink haired girl, and then the Monika scene just being uncomfortable (in a good way). Creepy Game - Doom3, don’t really play creepy games, Doom3 was suspenseful so I don’t know if that counts.  I had it for like 2 years, played it once for like 10 hours straight, and never played it again.  Still lives in my head. Happy Game - Super Meat Boy, is this a happy game? I don’t know, I feel like it’s got a pumped up energy which I equate to happiness.  It’s fun and the music makes it really addictive. Favourite Ending - Metal Gear Solid, don’t really have a great answer to this.  I really like Meryl and Snake riding off on their snowmobile though.

Toriel comes to terms that she too fucked up allot and was at fault for the shit that happened, and she and Asgore kinda reconcile at least so much that they can talk like fucking adults, like she will never forgive him for what he did and he will never forgive himself either, but they will at least become somewhat friends again at least, as I consider them originally been best friends before they got romantically involved and both miss it allot

Frisk eventually succeeds in getting Flowey up with them from the underground because there is no fucking way they are letting him stay down there in his own misery

Undyne and Alphys got the gayest and more anime inspired wedding of all fucking time on the beach

Burgerpants quits his job at Mettaton’s and ends up working for the Nice cream bunny, who I like to call Rupert, where Burgerpants gets his shit together properly and also finds love bc I ship that ok

Mettaton too gets like a proper realism check over the stuff he done and becomes a better person

But... I’m gonna add slightly more detail to this - cause then I can just link this exact ask/answer to my description for more detail. 

So yeah... It’s not really the full ‘ship’ that I dislike. I am... just... meh with this ship if we are just talking about it in general. 

However - what I don’t like was/is how people were so obsessed over it, so focused onto that specific ship that it caused these things (in this order):

Mischaracterization of Fresh and PJ - So yeah - first was this whole thing. At the beginning - it seemed like a fun, yet harmless ship. Both CQ and I saw few things on it, added our two cents, and just continued to observe the fun (at least for me - it just seemed like CQ was doing that too and she’s really chill). It even got to a point where I was trying to see how this ship would actually work. However - this ship kinda brought in a wave of misunderstanding. Which - I don’t know - I was okay with that for PJ since I knew/know that I’m not a popular blog or anyone important so it’s my own fault for not getting all of the info on PJ out there straight away. But for Fresh? I honestly felt like it was my own fault that people were not seeing him as the complex character he is. Gosh have you guys read MommaCQ By Alania? That, at this time, is the closest Fresh that is to the actual Fresh (ya know... without that whole parasite thing). I just felt horrible that Fresh was getting mischaracterized due to my character (who was also getting super misinterpreted). It felt like it was my fault for that whole thing - so I started to not like FreshPaper starting at the peak of all of that mess. Moving from an OTP to a ‘eh it’s okay!’. I am still dealing with this aftermath today. People are seriously getting shocked that Paper isn’t in a canon ship with Fresh. (Examples come from the Undertale AU Amino on quizzes others made on canon PJ [you guys rock for making those quizzes!]):

I also made a quiz in that Amino and majority of the people who have done it (8 at this time cause it’s brand new) did not have a score over 20 (top score is 124... by a user named Paperfresh which gosh that was funny to me! Kudos to you though!) 7 out of 8 couldn’t do it. People outside of Tumblr still think that Canon PJ is a nice, shy, and innocent little 17 year old. Which is far from the truth. Again - people need to understand the difference between AUs and Canon stories for OCs. And that plays a part into this whole thing. 

Tossing any other ships that are not ‘just for fun’ under the bus/Tossing other users under the bus due to shipsNow this was the second wave of stuff that happened, and this happened right after Christmas of last year. Ever since I said “Oh yeah - This character named Omni (by Cereusblue)? PJ likes them. They are in a canon ship.” And gosh... you know what? Those Freshpaper shippers started to slowly ramp up their headcanons on their ship and tried to make it fact. Try to hide that PJ is in a different relationship with Omni than being in a ‘relationship with Fresh’. Let me first say that at first - it seemed like people who followed me were cool with this. From people who hate FreshPaper to loving FreshPaper. They were all cool with the idea that PJ wasn’t going to be with Fresh. OK! Awesomesauce!But then, I saw people complaining to Cereusblue and Askinfresh (an amazing Fresh RPer) about this - even calling them out (which by the way - Askinfresh had nothing to do with this so...?) and tossing them under a metaphorical bus for why their ship now cannot be canon. (which by the way - at this point CQ and I have stressed out enough times that it just won’t happen!)And eventually - there was one user that I have now blocked due to this - but I am going to go into detail about this, that made me just shut down on the whole topic of FreshPaper together. They were the straw on the camel’s back. And it hit right during the time I was trying to finish up my Masters. (fabulous timing there.)But gosh ok this story is long so just a warning:~~~So - I don’t know how it exactly started - but someone mentioned to me that this user (who honestly I loved and respected their work even though it was mostly FreshPaper stuff [and let me go ahead and say no - it’s not the first person you thought of]) was talking about me not only behind my back, but in a different language entirely. And they just kept saying on occasion on how I was the one who ruined FreshPaper, how I didn’t had the “kindness of being a multishipper” and that I was too blinded by this new ship OmniPJ to even notice how amazing Freshpaper is!And just... while this was translated by Google Translate for me - someone later on confirmed that the translation was pretty close to what they said...I just... I guess I snapped? But I took my time to respond to this, had others read it so then I had less of a chance to offend anyone - cause I HATE HATE HATE making other’s feel bad. And I just wanted to explain my side of the story - especially since this wasn’t the first time they tossed me under like that. And after that? What did they do?Cut PJ out of their story, blamed me for their action on that, and just - continued to draw without seeming like it hurt them even though they kept stating ‘how much they were hurt to even think about PJ’. ...DudeI broke down.I extended my hiatus at that time to “TBD”IT HURT me so MUCH to know that someone was SAD, or ANGRY, or just... so frustrated that they go to my face and say ���well then I’m removing your character from my story” and then proceeding to put the blame on me when in fact that wasn’t what I was saying at all. I even replied to that comment and after that - I broke down and cried. And I hate to sound like I was exaggerating on this but - any of my close friends would be able to verify that this happened. I went to a table that I haven’t crawled under within a year - and laid there with a blanket, crying, until I just felt numb. It... kinda showed me that I wasn’t ready for any form of hate on the internet - where you kinda need to have a think skin in order to brush off hate. And while generic hate I was able to brush off until that moment - that.. THAT to me was like this:For a whole month, I panicked. I talked to friends on what I should do. Even after soft blocking and fully blocking their blog - I kept going back. Translating questions with the number 7 in them or with PJ in them to make sure they were not still angry about it... which then spiraled me down. I was afraid... afraid that a whole section of people who could only read and speak that language would see me as the devil’s advocate. Yep - I took the bait. And honestly that whole part of me feeling bad for a month was on me. That was entirely my fault. But... I guess this was the first personal attack I had received in my life - so I didn’t know how to handle it.~~~But now? I know better. I have taken that experience and will use what I had learned from it in a similar situation in the future (if that ever happens). Just... know that you will not please everyone even if you try your dang hardest at that. That was me learning that fully in action. However - due to knowing that discussing FreshPaper was behind all of that - and I didn’t want anyone to feel like that EVER - That’s why I took a stand and just said “nope. I am not going to discuss this ship anymore. I will not like any art of this ship (but know I still do appreciate it  and some I bookmark cause it’s so good) but I just need to take this side and stand - not let any more confusion or miscommunication happen.”

And...well... that is the full story of how it became to be a topic I will not discuss again. It’s just do to all of these things piling up on one another until one thing just shattered me.

I honestly thought about deactivating back during that break down. I thought about keeping my blog up for archive reasons, and starting from scratch with a brand new username and not ever bring PJ back again. I thought about possibly only using Tumblr to stay connected with friends I made but never ever do another social media blog again. 

But eh - I decided to keep going! I’m kinda persistent! Or Determined!

Anyway - this was the LONG LONG L O N G explanation of why I don’t answer any FreshPaper Questions. Just... it was due to bad situations and circumstances that just piled up on me until I just couldn’t look at the word “FreshPaper’ in any positive light. 

BUT LET ME JUST SAY:

I am completely fine if you ship FreshPaper. 

It’s 100% ok! 

YOU ship what you WISH to ship! And being a multishipper - I see those Freshpaper ships as alternate timelines! All coexisting at the same time as the canon timeline. 

Just - I wanted you all to know where I am coming from with this ship... and know why I don’t really like it. And sadly - it’s not even about the characters - it’s about the bad experiences within the fandom for me. 

In the end, respect the canon stories that people made for their OCs - whether it’s for OTPs, NOTPs, and BROTPs,. Respect that people can see certain ships work and others not be able to work. 

Let that whole ‘ship war’ thing die already and let’s create an area where people can discuss ships without the fear to be ridiculed, to be driven to insanity, to be harmed physically or mentally about what they ship or not ship. 

And this has gone on long enough! ^^

At least with the Freshpaper stuff o-oAgain - you can still ship Freshpaper! Go for it! You like it - draw it! Write it! Sing it! Yeah, plus cultural differences exist as well; some European countries have cheek or even lip-kisses as common greetings between friends or family members. And it depends on the family unit itself, as well as the individuals within it.

My family’s ethnically Polish, but all of us 4 kids were born and raised in USA. Both of my brothers happen to not be touchy-feely at all, with anyone period, same as my Mom used to be (very hands-off). Meanwhile, me and my sister love physical contact in general, taking after our Dad, who freely gave out hugs and kisses to family and friends alike of any gender if they approved.

As adults now… Sis now lives on her own far away, so we hug hello and goodbye at visits, as well as leaning on each other or propping an ankle over the other’s leg while watching tv, etc. Just casual contact to make up for lost time.

She (a couple years younger than me) was a rough kid; she has Williams Syndrome, so she had a hard time learning about others’ feelings. She would often steal mine and our brothers’ things, deface or break or lose them. She’d throw fits if she didn’t get her way, chase us down and bite us if she was mad, etc. I did my best to explain things in ways she could understand though, wanting her to have an easier time at school as well as at home. Slowly, she climbed that mountain, and I grew so proud of her and told her so often.

As a result, we bonded closer over time, even though our interests differed quite a bit. She liked pink girly stuff for the most part, along with a hyperfixation on EDM music and technology. I tended to more often play with my brothers (one about a year older, the other about 5 years younger than me) because I liked superheroes and Transformers and toy soldiers.

But we did all pretend to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles since there were four of us. The oldest bro was pretty bossy simply because age is often seen as a status marker, so he chose to be Leonardo, the leader (this is the original animated series from the early 90s). I then got second pick and was Raphael cuz I liked his sarcasm. Sis fit well as Donatello because she loved (and still loves) tech. We used a bit of manipulative framing to soften the fact that our youngest brother was stuck with Michelangelo even though he wanted to be Leonardo or Raphael. Got him to grudgingly agree so the playing could commence. He now says he really hated that he was relegated to that role, but well, that’s sibling negotiation and compromise for ya sometimes.

The bros didn’t get along well with Liz due to her temper, and their lack of patience (older bro is just stubborn and never patient… younger bro has ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and may be bipolar, so he had his own things to deal with without having to tiptoe around her. So they still aren’t very close nowadays, even though she’s improved so vastly. Just a combination of the past hardships and the long distance thus not seeing how awesome she’s become… yeah, they’re just pretty much estranged now, but none of them really lament it. It seems fine really.

My brothers will roll their eyes and humor Mom’s hugs sometimes, but otherwise just don’t want touched, so we respect their boundaries. My older bro has his own interests n stuff, and is pretty emotionally distant from me n sis cuz he grew into that kinda toxic-masculine mindset that he can’t relate to women on the same level but likes getting girlfriends. Meh.

But my younger brother spends a lot of time with me, usually playing video games, but we’ll discuss all kinds of things. Brainstorming creative ideas, me punning and him groaning and pretending to hate it even though he smiles (reminds me of Sans and Papyrus in the video game “Undertale”, really, which I HIGHLY recommend as another great sibling relationship illustration)… We talk about personal struggles, politics and society, our evolving life philosophies, sharing stories we’ve discovered, suggesting and listening to music together, etc. I’d say that even though we’re not physically close, we’re emotionally close, trusting each other with just about everything.

Our family’s become more about being open and honest with our feelings, so we can all understand each other better and thus keep getting along better and better. Including personal boundaries to respect, working out our differences, etc. We’ve had emotional shouting matches in the past, hard times explaining what we meant to say, etc. But we’re learning and improving.

And we’ve got rituals out the wazoo but I’m too tired to write about them right now. Just lots of silly little things we do to lighten the mood and make each other laugh, while exercising our familiarity with one another.

Anywaaaay, just wanted to give even more personal examples to add that variety can exist based on the individuals involved. And to again recommend “Undertale” for the skelebros! Those do a lot of teasing and nagging, but it’s all clearly light-hearted and with good intent. They’ve got a ritual with a dirty sock and bedtime stories. Feels super real to me. :3

How to Write Siblings

A lot of people struggle when it comes to writing siblings.They make their relationship too stilted and forced, to the point where they’realmost glorified acquaintances.

A sibling relationship isn’t just about quipsand annoying each other, though those things may be a big part of it, so if youwant to write a believable pair of siblings(with a good relationship with oneanother), here are some tips.

1. They Don’t Love Each Other THAT Much

Unless you’re writing about something that’s very not good, siblingsshouldn’t be too touchy-feely. When they’re older and aren’t living in the samehouse, siblings kiss each other on the cheek hello and goodbye, but teenagedsiblings rarely do that, if at all.

An older sibling may kiss a much younger sibling on thecheek, and there may be a lot of hugging involved, but in my experience,siblings who are close in age only kiss on the cheek if they’re older and don’tsee each other often. If you’ve had a sibling, you know that they DO NOT kisseach other on the lips. That’s just weird. (Yuck!)

2. They Have to Do Sibling Stuff Together

A good sibling relationship isn’t cultivated by ignoringeach other, though many siblings spend a lot of time doing just that. Even ifthey are annoyed by each other, they can’t just…not interact for the wholestory.

Sibling affection can be conveyed through various acts thatmay seem weird but to siblings are perfectly normal.

Real Fighting over weird things (My personal favoriteargument that I’ve had with my brother is which Smash Ultimate character is thethiccest)

Scaring each other

Playing video games together

Playing pranks on each other

Weird rituals (Whenever we encounter each otheron opposite sides of a hallway, my brother and I just strike the do it to em’pose until one of us yields and thus proves their inferiority)

Listening to music together

Simply sitting in the same room and enjoying eachother’s presence

Nicknames (Ever since I read A Gentleman’s Guideto Vice and Virtue I’ve referred to my brother exclusively as Goblin)

Contests/rivalry (who can run the fastest, whocan climb the highest, who can fit the most marshmallows into their mouthwithout choking, etc. Usually prefaced with “race ya” or the anxiety-inducing “readyset go”)

3. They Have to Be Supportive

Siblings stick up for each other. They comfort each other.Sometimes, when they’re feeling petty, they snitch on or berate each other ruthlessly.

They might get mad for a while and ignore each other, but eventually it’ll allbe okay because it’s really hard to stay mad at a fellow quasi-human who livesin the same house as you.

If a sibling is getting bullied at school, the vengeance inthe others will burn white hot for a person they haven’t even met; they mightlove embarrassing the sibling, but they’re the only one who’s allowed to bullythem. No one else. “Penalty for bullying a sibling is death.”

How I started as a Fan (Undertale and Fnaf)

So, some of you may know or not know about how I started. @blutheboo made hers so why not? Late happy anniversaries to both games, Fnaf being August and Undertale being this month.

So it was 2014 when I started to know about it. I remember what year because I remembered I was waiting for Fnaf 3 to come out. It was fking terrifying.

I was a dancer for a dance ritual, not a satanic ritual. I lived in the Philippines mind you, there are festival dances and the like. We were having a break after a practice when I saw my friend Hearty, @aeronomatron, playing a game on her phone. Since I'm a snoopy bitch and I always go up to a person playing a game and watch, I did and obviously asked what kind of game is it. Now that spark my interest.

Heart and I would never be close friends if she wasn't the one who introduced me to Fnaf. And I would be a bit lonely because my first best friend is into K-Pop and I am into Games. Stereotypical Filipina teenage girls and their K-Pop shit. That's kinda the reason why I avoid too much exposure of K-Pop.

I never think that Chica was a duck, AT ALL. Her figure is weird for a duck. Though, I thought that Bonnie can gender-sex change lol. The name Mangle Schmidt exists because of Fnaf.

Most my redeeming qualities like puns, happy endings, Cherry Bomb, enhancement of Pokemon and One Piece, liking pirates and the like come from Fnaf fam!

Thanks to Mike and Foxy, I love to give people happy endings and feels. Rebornica, queen of Fnaf feels.

Undertale:

2016 or was it 2015? when I knew the fandom. Yes, the fandom, not itself game. Toxic fans, those asshole of a fans, bashing on Fnaf. I mean, why the hate? Because of this I was NEVER interested to watch the game.

The only character I like was not Sans, but Chara. I just like them. Believe me, I thought they were evil (obviously) and I'm more of a sympathetic and pacifist person. I like them and no one in the game else.

The days go on and I was like "Hey, why not give it a try?" And I watch a Youtube video and for God knows how, after three days with not watching another one, I dreamed about. I was so confused, Papyrus was... rusting? dafuq? It’s so fked up, I tell you.

I don’t really remember but here I am now. An Undertale Fan. Holy shit.

UNDERTALE ASKS

1. My favourite character would have to be Sans xD I found him super fun to interact with during the game, and gosh seeing the genocide fights and how he acts then (never did a genocide myself pfft) just made me like him even more! And the UT fandom’s obsession with the guy just made me like him more, since I got to see different headcanons’ and interpretations, as well as all the lovely AUs.

2. Hmmm I’m not sure really. I suppose I’m not a huge fan of Mettaton? Like, he’s an okay character and I thought he was pretty fun in the game, and I like some interpretations of him too. But the most I hear about him now is through the fandom perception, and a lot of versions of him I find kinda meh xD

3. Pfft that’s a tough one. I think that the fandom has a lot of good mixed in with some bad too - I guess that most fandoms are like this, but Undertale is the first one I actually became a part of (I’m a fan of plenty of things, but UT is the first I’ve participated in on tumblr). I love how creative the fandom is, with so many AUs and characters inspired by the game (and lovely fankids xDD), but a lot of people seem to not understand the hurt they can cause by hating on people for dumb reasons like which fictional characters they ship, or whether they draw/write smut. Thankfully I’ve managed to avoid a lot of the “discourse” though, and stuck with following plenty of awesome people!

8. Welllll even though I haven’t played the genocide route, I LOVE the fight with Sans! The music, the fight itself, the dialogue - it’s all so awesome and well-done.

Matt’s Top 12 WORST Loud House Episodes

Hello, fellow Swifters. I'm Mathew Swift, and today, I want to talk about my personal Top 12 WORST Loud House episodes. Why Top 12? Because I can.

Keep in mind, this episode is completely 100% opinion based, and is entirely my choice. If you lie any of these episodes, good for you. I just don't.

Also, most of these episodes aren't considered bad. Most of them range from good to okay. But when I get to the bad ones, you best be prepared.

Mathew Swift's Top 12 WORST Loud House Episodes (by DEFAULT)

12. Intern For the Worse

I was afraid the this episode could've been the so-called "gross-out" episode, as similar to SpongeBob's "The Splinter" or the entirety of Drawn Together. *shudder*

But it actually took the high route, and made Flip into an enjoyable, yet dick-ish character, to work off of Lincoln and Clyde.

Why is it on the list? I guess it could be the easily-predictable "rivalry" story we've heard so many times. But the result was a good payout, and I consider this episode as a guilty pleasure.

So as for it being number 12? It could've been a lot worse... right?

11. For Bros About to Rock

Everybody has at least one unpopular opinion. And me not loving For Bros About to Rock is one of them.

As I said, most of the episodes on this list are good at best. At least from 12 to 6. I still like the episode, but I believe it and Luna are easily the most overrated things in the Loud House. *CROWD GASPS*

Its just your typical run-of-the-mill concert plot, with some interesting (but honestly pointless) backstory to how Luna liked rock and roll. Don't get me wrong, I love character development, but is it really worth it? I mean, we ALL know she is a rockstar wannabe, so, why give us a reason to know how?

I still like it, but I just don't see why it's a fan-favorite to most people. But it's just my stupid personal opinion. If you like it, awesome. I still like it, but just not as much as everybody else.

10. No Such Luck

Okay, I don't really hate the episode in general. Actually, I kinda like this episode. The only reason this episode is number ten is because of the BACKLASH it got.

This episode drove most of the fans to despise Lynn, and any relation to this episode, leading from hate-art to the point to some wishing the writer to be fired from the staff. Okay, I know this episode drove people the other way, but seriously? This is just a dud compared to the rest of the list.As for the episode, it's nothing to write home about. Sure, Lynn did accuse Lincoln of being bad luck, but with all honesty, Lincoln did bring it upon himself, even though the family took it to an extreme.

So, to end off No Suck Luck, I'm going to end it with this...

9. Sounds of Silence

Okay, remember, I said that most of the episodes are on the list by default, or by personal experience.

I can relate to Lincoln in this episode, but the moral kinda went in the wrong direction. Just because couldn't ignore your family, doesn't mean you can't get some alone time to yourself.

So, yeah, this episode was alright, but the moral could be improved.

8. Get The Message

I gotta admit, I HATED Lori at first, but then episodes, like Save the Date, and The Waiting Game made her into my top three favourites.

But this episode was NOT a good start to her character. For a second episode of a show, I just didn't like it.

7. A Fair To Remember

This episode was boring. Not The Wild Life boring, but it was getting there.

The relationships between Lincoln and Bobby is just generic, Clyde was almost useless in the story, though I'm glad he got his reward in the end. And oh my God, the Bro-Puns. And I thought Luan's puns were bad! Please stop with the Bro-puns!!

Well, I guess you can say that this episode was *insert bad Bro-pun here*

6. Vantastic Voyage

You know, this came out right after Lock 'n' Loud, and I got say, this is the worst timing in a cartoon that I've yet to see.

If the episode aired before Lock 'n' Loud, it actually would've helped the episode with it's moral. But unfortunately, the moral was weaker in this episode because why? CAUSE IT AIRED AFTER LOCK N LOUD!!!

Well, I can safely say that this episode, may be alright, but the moral should just stay locked up.

5. Dance Dance Resolution

I'm sorry, but this episode was just stupid! It's just your cliched multiple-dates scenario, with the most generic foils for the boys (Mini-Luna, Lydia from Beetlejuice, Rainbow Crash, and ... Smiles (I got nothing for her.)

I still enjoyed the episode, though. I liked Ronnie-Anne, I liked the humour, and I even liked the moral.

But sadly, that's the end of the "meh" episodes on this list.

4. Raw Deal

Okay, so yeah, if you know me, or at least looked at my Loud Sibling ranking, I'm not a particular fan of Lucy.

But this was the start of the Lincoln-Harassment" trope, as the episode makes Lincoln miss the wonders of the park, and I have to admit, Lucy was... pretty much unnecessary in this story. I don't know, i just think she could've done more, rather than say "Lincoln will have a bad time."

Wait, I said Lucy sucks and made an Undertale reference? Jeez, what's wrong with me?

3. Butterfly Effect

Yeah, I would give a hundred reasons why this episode sucks, but I believe PRStorm has a better input on this episode than I could. I suggest looking at his Phoenix Reviews to find out why this episode was the first ever "bad" Loud House episode.

The so-called humour, resulting around the misery of our main cast, is just offensive, insulting, and cringeworthy, the story, is predictable from beginning to end, and the end result was a terrible payout.

So yeah, this was the second-worst episode of Season One. But what's Number One?

2. Brawl in the Family

Yeah, you were expecting this episode at Number #1, weren't you? Well, no. I WANTED to put this episode at number one, but there was one more episode that pissed me off. Anyway, Brawl with the Family.

What else can I say what hasn't been said before. The story was covered in plot-holes, the lack of continuity was gigantic, *cough-Space Invaders* the sisters were at their worst, and the Lincoln Harassment was as plain as day. Whereas No Suck Luck did this, Lincoln kind of put it upon himself. In this, however, he did nothing to deserve this kind of treatment!

So, if Brawl in the Family is #2, what's number #1? Well, here it it.

1. *shudder* April Fools Rules...

Yes, I really really hate this episode. I could go on forever, but I'll keep it brief.

Firstly, the Lincoln Harassment  In No Such Luck, the family did go too far with the 'bad luck' scenario, but, Lincoln was mostly to blame for putting himself in that position. Here, however, he got attacked by raccoons, flour bombs, and about anything else you can think of, and he never deserved any of it. It's almost felt like watching a Modern Family Guy episode. That's right, I'm comparing this to a FAMILY GUY episode!!!

Secondly, and worstly, Luan. I don't know about you, but her character was up to Peter Griffin levels of unlikeable! She was almost malicious with her pranks, to the point where even her PARENTS are afraid to do something about,  and, well, her character assassination. She went from being great to atrocious, thanks to this episode.

Please, if April Fools comes next year, instead of watching this piece of crap episode, I'll just Rick-Roll myself a hundred times instead.

Megaman 11 Review

Megaman has always been a game that I never really thought of playing but never really did because it just didn't seem like a game I'd like, but with Megaman 11 I got in like a Strange Family on Christmas. And with the multiple Difficulty Settings I felt like I was allowed without the Game Pushing me back with it's notorious Difficulty. This being my First ever playing of a Megaman Game, I decided to play on the Newcomer and even then the game was sorta hard with some levels, most likely because this is the first time I've ever played Megaman.

{WARNING} This review shows talks about The Mini Bosses, Stages, and Bosses in the Entire Game. You have been Warned

-Block Man Block Man is one of the best forms of showing all the options and wealth of Abilities you already have without beating the other Bosses. Not only do you have the Power Gear and Speed Gear, but you also have the Regular Mega Buster but you also have Rush Coil to get certain collectables that would be out of reach, just by that one inch. But This is one of the Things with Megaman, With every good thing a bad thing happens. Block Man's Level Design is brilliant and shows what to expect in the Future but with the Mini Boss it's so different from any other boss that it doesn't teach anything. But besides that We go to the First Boss and Holy Shit it doesn't feel like the First Boss. This feels like the 2nd Phase of Calamity Ganon of BoTW. Why does he go so big, Yes he is using the Power Gear but why does it matter if it doesn't show an actual representation of what it does and even then why is there no real force saying like "Hey Use the Power Gear to Finish the Fight Quicker" or "Hey use the Speed Gear to Get past the Objects being thrown at you!" The First Time fought Block Man I barely used the Power Gear. But the First Phase and The Last Phase feels like a Good Fight, however the 2nd Phase is Shit. And the Power Up you get OOOOOOOO it feels so Over powered when you first get it, even with the Power Gear it feels like something I shouldn't have or that I should have at the end of the game. -Acid Man Acid Man is just a Mediocre Stage, Terrible Boss, and a Shit Powerup. Like Holy Shit this Powerup is absolute Garbage, you basically always need to use the Speed Gear when using because Megaman puts up a shield before shooting, you'd think this is good but he's Vulnerable when the animation of him putting up the shield is playing, and even then the actual firing is slow and doesn't do a lot of damage without the Power Gear, And the Speed Gear needs to be Active so then You won't get hit! Why Give me the option to protect myself if I die before I can use the Ability? That Makes no fucking sense! And it doesn't help Acid Man because His stage is so Creative and Introduced in such a good way, but Why am I playing it if the Payout if Absolute Trash? And you don't even know the Powerup before you get beat Acid Man, Which If you play on Casual or Higher, it just feels like a Chore. And the Actual Stage Design is just filled to the brim with NES Era Horse Shit, even when playing on Newcomer. In Casual hitting Spikes is just a Cheap 1 Hit Kill. And Finally the Boss Battle...Who Made this? I'm Being Fucking Serious Who Made this? This Boss, is so Fucking Shit, His Attacks always hit if you aren't using Speed Gear, And he even uses Speed Gear Himself for his 2nd Phase and it's so Hard to Dodge, Acid Man is just NES Shit that I fucking Hate, you know when you're playing Mega Man and you think "This Stinks" THAT'S ACID MAN...jeez Fuck You Acid Man. -Blast Man Blast Man doesn't feel like he should be in a Mega Man game, he feels like he should be in a Universal Ride, like actually in a god damn ride. However his stage is sorta good with Powerups like Block Man are really effective on this stage and can be breezed by really quickly with Block Man's Powerup with the Power Gear. Even the Mini Boss feels like a Ride because IT IS ONE, HOLY CRAP THEY KNEW! Jesus that was an Amazing Mini Boss teaching you how to use the Speed Gear Effectively. Now to Blast Man, His Boss Fight is, Forgettable. I had to look up Blast Man on YouTube because I just didn't remember how his Fight went. However, his Powerup is anything but Forgettable. The regular Firing is just Useless and I've never used it without the Power Gear, and Jesus the Powerup with the Power Gear, It's amazing and is really useful for Future Bosses. Great Boss Fight, Ok Powerup, and an Alright Stage. -Bounce Man Bounce Man is such a strange thing, or man. It isn't even a man it's voiced by a Woman which is kinda Funny. But as Much as I want to call a woman strange but it's not because of that. The Stage is so different from anything else in this Game, this feels like what the game should've been. Block Man could've been a basic stage, Blast Man could've been Fast and Pushing you around with Explosives and then you could have the same experience with the Mini Boss and Blast Man Himself and Vise Versa with the other Bosses. The entire stage is filled with Balloons and you're forced to bounce on it, everything except the Boss..place? I don't Know. But God, Bounce Man's Powerup is one of the best in the game next to Block Man. Without this Powerup a lot of the Bosses wouldn't be as easy as they are. And Bounce Man has the weakness of one the worst attacks in the Game, Impact Man's Powerup. But other then that Bounce Man has an Annoying Stage but It can be Fun in some aspects but it can also feel like a Chore, same thing with the Mini Boss as well but nothing much to say in that Category. -Tundra Man Tundra Man has a Pretty Basic Stage, nothing much to say there although throughout the Adventure I'd normally barely use the Speed Gear NOW I use it way too much where I find myself slipping all the time into Pits. Good thing I played on Newcomer cause if I played on something harder (I am Currently in a Playthrough of Casual Mode, this Message for even Harder Difficulties) then I'd go fucking insane and through this game in the trash. I vividly remember the Mini Boss and Jesus, Why is Fire Weak against Ice? People complain about how shit the "Rock, Paper, Scissor" Mechanic is in Megaman games but HOLY SHIT, I just find it amazing that this Ice is the same Ice that makes Reggieice from Pokemon. And Jesus H. Christ! I LOVE Tundra Man's Personality! It reminds me of MTT from Undertale: So Elegant, So Fashionable, His Spinning Moves are the Moves of GODS. I wanna see Tundra Man again in later Megaman Games. -Impact Man Impact Man is really forgettable and very Frustrating your first boss fight with him. But after the first fight, He can be dealt with easily. The Mini Boss is just Piss, Mid way through my (Casual) Playthrough I defeated it in almost a Second because of Block Man's Powerup along with the Power Gear. And the Actual stage is like playing a Sonic 1 Water Stage, Mess up once: Go ALL the way back to the Bottom. Just An Annoying Man and I don't know why he's even a boss here. -Torch Man Torch Man is a Sick, Practical, and Horrible Joke made by the Nazi's, If you say this is a Good Stage and it teaches something, then you are Super Hitler Satan. The stage is just one big Chase. The Mini Boss is just the Fire Bird from Sonic Unleashed and The actual Fight is just PISS. And Torch Man looks like a JoJo Reject. Fuck Torch Man. -Fuse Man Fuse man is one of those Characters you sorta look at and say "Oh Shit." Just from a Glance of His Face you know it's gonna be serious. And Serious it is, The Stage looks like a  Batman Anime Intro: Dark, Serious, Gloomy, THUNDER! Great Stuff. Fuse Man's Stage actually feels like a Modern Megaman Stage, while the others feel like their a Grandfather hung over by too much NES Horseshit Crack, Fuse man always Looks, Sounds, and Plays like Something New, Thank You Capcom, Very Cool. The Mini Boss is...Meh, Don't feel like I should really say anything about it for some reason. Though What I will say, Is that the Speed Gear was Very Useful (When Replaying In Classic Mode) when I didn't understand the pattern. The Actual Boss fight with Fuse Man was something Brand New, Using the Speed Gear and it shows a very clear Demonstration of what the Speed Gear can do. And even using the Speed Gear yourself is the way you can clearly counter him. And it's overall just a very Fun and Different Boss Fight that feels like what all the bosses should've been.

-Misc. Everything that isn't already in the main game is extremely Boring and Very Forgettable. After playing the game for the first time I went to the Extra Modes and even going to the shop is very Forgettable and through my first playthrough I didn't even know it was a thing. It should've been somethin said through cutscenes or something ________________________________________________________________ {SPOILERS} This Part of Review shows off the Entire Last Part of The Game.

-Final Levels All the levels in Gear Fortress, The Final Stage Selection, is really just a Mini Boss Collection with the Iconic Yellow Devil and some weird Tentacle Monster. After that, We get to my Favorite part of the Game. Here you get to fight Every Single Man In The GAME. You get EVERYONE! Block Man, Acid Man, Blast man, Bounce Man, Tundra Man, Impact Man, Torch Man, and Fuse Man. Here you just know the Weaknesses of Everybody. Tundra Man Freezes Torch Man, Bounce Man's Stage is filled with Balloons, Impact Man has Drills for Hands, So it'd make Since Impact Man beats him. I love it when Video Games do this, Right before everything ends, You get to see all the faces that tried so hard to defeat you, and you body them once more. -Final Boss The Final Boss is Dr.Wily, how surprising for a Megaman Game. And here Dr.Wily has 2 Phases, and He seems so serious. He brings out a God Damn Helicopter Indoors, What the Hell Wily. Here Multiple Powerups that would normally seem useless are very good here. Blast Man's, Impact Man's, Fuse Man's, Hell even Acid Man's Powerup can be very useful in this boss fight. Both Speed Gear and Power Gear are used basically the entire Boss Fight. The 2nd Phase is VERY Serious, Here Dr.Wily doesn't plan on losing. Here he uses Both the Speed Gear and the Power Gear at the same. Most Powerups are used Here with Tundra Man's, Fuse Man's, Block Man's, Torch Man's, and Bounce Man's Powerup can be used for so long here. Finally Defeating Dr.Wily he talks about a Plan B, which is just him pleading. Dr.Wily gets away and Every Robot Master is Found. And there Megaman 11 ends. ______________________________________________________________________________________________

-Final Rating Megaman 11 is a great Megaman Game, especially for my First Megaman Game. Though however when Megaman 11 feels annoying, feels repetitive, feels rage inducing, feels boring, feels bad it REALLY feels like all of those things. Though when having Fun, the Game feels very Fun and Addictive.

DualShockers’ Game of the Year 2018 Staff Lists — Ben Walker’s Top 10

As 2018 comes to a close, DualShockers and our staff are reflecting on this year’s batch of games and what were their personal highlights within the last year. Unlike the official Game of the Year 2018 awards for DualShockers, there are little-to-no-rules on our individual Top 10 posts. For instance, any game — not just 2018 releases — can be considered.

2018. Seriously, what a year for gaming. I can’t remember the last time I actually had this many games to juggle into the top 3. When Sony blew their load at E3 2016, it was one of their best conferences and, incidentally, most of those games released this year, like God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man. I didn’t jump on the Nintendo Switch hype until August of this year, and honestly, I’ve barely used it because of all the other titles shining instead.

I don’t usually compile lists in my head of ten games because only a select few titles really keep my enthusiasm by the end of the year. However, when thinking about my backlog and the games that did come out this year, it reignited a spark in me that felt these games needed recognizing. Here are my Top 10 games for 2018:

10. Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 ranks at the beginning of my list for Game of the Year and it barely made it onto here. Let me tell you a story of how I even came to purchase this title. I’m a bad spender – give me money, it’s gone in a week or two. I had money around the time that Far Cry 5 was about to release and I thought “meh, why not” and pre-ordered the game. It’s a bad habit; help me. In doing so, I jumped blindly into a series which I had never really touched other than playing Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon at a friend’s house in the previous years.

Needless to say, Far Cry 5 was a huge change from its predecessors – and I’m not sure I liked it. At the start of the game, it’s quite fun when you begin to learn about the cult and story of the world you’ve been dropped into. It had great potential from the get-go, with a cool concept. However, Ubisoft wasn’t the best at executing that later on down the line.

I’ll be honest – I didn’t finish the game because I lost motivation to do so. Either way, a game has its faults but can also be quite fun. I did have a bit of a blast in co-op free roam and running around this unique open world. As is with Far Cry games, I loved the times where wild animals would appear out of nowhere and help me attack NPCs. I adored Boomer and all of the other companions, but that’s about it.

9. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Okay, this was a huge change for Call of Duty, at least in the sense that they barely changed any features from previous games. Black Ops 4 removed single-player, one of the series’ best elements, and replaced it with Blackout – an awful attempt at battle royale. That said, the multiplayer is surprisingly fun with its new additions such as manually-regenerating health, specialist-based combat, improved mobility and controls, and the change in game-modes.

It’s nice to see a Call of Duty game be fun again, and actually feel somewhat balanced. Blackout is another story – that mode absolutely sucks. Zombies becomes more and more complicated every year, so much so that I don’t feel like it’s a “casual mode” anymore. All I want is for me and my friends to jump into zombies and see how long we last, but the maps are too convoluted and you have to do a crap ton of objectives just to unlock the better weapons. I want Zombies from the original Black Ops back.

Either way, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (or IIII if you want to be difficult) takes players on a good journey into the lands of playing online. In short, we don’t care if you want to play a story – fight these kids instead. At least they actually made it fun unlike Fallout 76.

8. Deltarune

This incredibly good spin-off to my personal Game of the Year from 2015, Undertale, is just part one of a possible series, and I’m super excited. We’re finally into that part of the list where I stop half-criticizing games and instead showcase how bloody good some of them are. Deltarune was a fantastic revisit to the world of Undertale with vital mechanic changes, a unique story, and an all-new cast of characters mixed with reused ones.

Lancer’s design is hilarious; I love the thought of a chubby spade who rides a bicycle. I won’t reveal any of the plot details, because if you’ve played Undertale but not Deltarune you have to go jump into it right now. It’s a blast, and you should be playing it. If not, go play Undertale then this game. I’ll be waiting. I’d put this game as number 1 if so many amazing AAA games didn’t exist. Let’s get into those now.

7. Fortnite

Yes, Fortnite is on my Top 10 list. No, I have no regrets. I’m putting it on this list less because of it being a good game (it’s pretty good, to be honest) but more because of the game’s significance this year and the impact it made on my life. I played Fortnite on the day they released the Battle Royale mode last year, purely because consoles (at the time) didn’t have a battle royale game due to PUBG being on PC originally. I found that it was decent, but never would I have imagined the absolute influence it would gain.

Aside from becoming the most popular video game on the planet, Fortnite actually helped me expand on my career this year. I started off the year at various other outlets before eventually branching out into writing about Fortnite. Writing about this game actually allowed me to open up my experiences in games writing, and I actually ended up here at DualShockers because of it. I’m happy at the journey this game allowed me to take, and the memories I’ll have because of it. As much as it can suck sometimes waking up early in the morning to write about patch notes, it gives me the motivation to keep going and not just lay in bed all day. Thank you, Fortnite. You can suck it if you blindly hate this game. That’s my two cents.

6. Detroit: Become Human

“Oh no,” you say: we’re entering Sony territory – and with a bang, as one of the most gorgeous games of this year is Detroit: Become Human. Detroit was a huge step forward from the previous titles from Quantic Dream and David Cage, and a game where choices actually changed the story. From the days of Telltale Games and Life is Strange emerges a game where the choices you make surprisingly matter, and the game lets you view what could’ve happened instead. I loved when I checked the choice map at the end of a scene and realized everything that mattered. Except for saving that goldfish at the start – that made no difference whatsoever.

That’s also not to mention how absolutely mind-bogglingly gorgeous this game is. The photorealistic visuals are mind-blowing when accompanied by those motion-capture performances of a lifetime. The star-studded cast of Bryan Dechart, Clancy Brown, Valorie Curry, Jesse Williams, and more perfectly brings each and every character to life to tell an enriched story of a very possible near-future. It’s a visually-appealing masterpiece.

5. Tetris Effect

Tetris Effect is a gem of an experience. With incredible, entrancing visuals that make you feel like you’re in either the next Star Wars combined with a mixture of audio that flies around your brain and sucks you into the dreamscape, Tetris Effect is a masterpiece. Each movement subtly synchronizes itself with the music playing in the background, with the BPM adapting to your placements and rotations. For something as simple as Tetris, this game really puts an Effect on you.

It’s also extremely difficult. As someone who had never played video games would say, it’s the Dark Souls of puzzle games. I should probably change the difficulty, to be honest. Either way, I’m having a blast with this game; I wouldn’t even call it a game – but an auditory and visual experience. Go play it.

4. A Way Out

A Way Out was such a good game, and a refreshing take on the co-op genre. I absolutely adore co-operative games, especially those in which me and a single friend can complete a campaign. This game from Hazelight Studios was an absolute blast of a time, with minigames in-between story elements such as Connect Four or Baseball being such a nice way to take a break from the story and just have fun. Me and my co-operative partner beat the game in a single sitting with how much we adored it.

I think I’ll forever keep coming back to A Way Out with new friends just to see their reactions to each element of this short, but sweet experience. The fact that it is developed for couch co-op but also allows anyone with a copy to invite their friend to play for free is something I absolutely admire, and Josef Fares’ dream came together extremely well. The game sold well, which I love, and I hope to see more out of this genre of video games. What a title.

3. Marvel’s Spider-Man

Marvel’s Spider-Man is the best superhero video game of all time. Sorry to the Batman: Arkham games, I love you – but this game is just so good. I’m kinda sad that it got snubbed at this year’s The Game Awards ceremony, losing to the next two games on my list (spoiler alert)…and also got snubbed at our own Awards ceremony. Boy, oh boy, this game got pushed under the rug.

The combat is magnificent when combined with all of the different variations of movements that the player can create; it is an utterly satisfying experience, one in which I keep coming back to. It’s rare that an open world game can keep my attention for so long (I have the attention span of a fetus), and Marvel’s Spider-Man achieves that magnificently. Well played, Insomniac Games.

2. God of War

God of War is a masterpiece; a project with the absolute intent of demolishing any of its competition Kratos-style. The game was my first foray into the God of War series, and playing the original remastered trilogy makes me just wanna go back to the new one. It’s such a damn good game that if I went into everything amazing about it, then this article would never be finished.

The gameplay, the story, the music, the tone, the setting, the atmosphere, and everything – just everything about God of War is an absolute delight. My issue is that the game ended way too early. I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment. Bring it, Sony Santa Monica.

1. Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 brings something new to the table; not in the sense of just being a fresh take on the open-world genre, but being a revolutionary landmark in the history of video games. Ever since the release of the original Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar Games has worked tirelessly on this project – controversially so, after the senior writers stated that they worked 100-hour weeks.

If you’re reading through each and every staff member’s Game of the Year lists, it’s pretty likely that most, if not almost all of them will include both God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2 at the forefront (assuming they played them). I’m falling straight into that trend – but you have to admit that there is an astonishing reason behind it. Both of these games are absolute masterworks, built detail-by-detail in order to transcend the normal experience of an open world game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a thrill to play, and quite frankly is one of the greatest video games ever made.
