The beautiful heart of Kim Jonghyun: my favorite moment

After seeing this lovely post on my dash, I thought I would share one of my favorite Jonghyun moments with everyone as well:

The video is 17 minutes in length, but it’s so worth watching in its entirety. It is my favorite SHINee moment of all time (closely followed by Jjong’s epic krump haha).

When I remember Jonghyun, the man who loved with his entire being, I think of this beautiful moment in which SHINee completed their final concert in the Tokyo Dome in March 2015.

It begins with Key becoming overwhelmed with emotion at the conclusion of their concert. Jonghyun walks over to comfort him, but when they embrace, Jonghyun ends up bawling instead (that’s our Jjong!).

The roles now reversed, Key rubs comforting circles on Jonghyun’s back before Jjong––overcome with love and gratitude––goes to hug each SHINee member individually. First Taemin, then Onew, then Minho.

What I love most about this video is that Jonghyun cries openly, without even an ounce of shame. When Kim Jonghyun cries, he cries. He cries his heart out. He was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve and was always in tune with his emotions. He was a man who loved fully and completely, with his entire being.

This video shows us just how deeply he cared for his SHINee family. By embracing each member individually, this is Jonghyun’s way of telling them “Thank you for embarking on this journey with me. I’m so grateful to be here with you. I love you.”

Another beautiful moment occurs at 9:48 when Jonghyun makes one final request in his closing speech. He asks that the stadium lights to be turned down once last time and that the fans hold up their glowsticks. As the stadium glows a radiant pearl aqua blue, Jonghyun drinks in the sight with an expression of love and pride on his face.

This says so much about his love for the SHINee World. This shows Jonghyun living in the present and trying to internalize every last moment of it. It’s as if he wanted to memorize the sight before him so he could remember it forever. I like to think that whenever Jonghyun felt sad or alone, whenever he fell into that dark place, he would close his eyes and picture that sight once again––thousands of Shawols who loved and supported him until the very end.

Jonghyun, I love you so, so much. We love you so, so much. Thank you for everything. Thank you for warming our hearts with your undying love.

I'm stuck in this psychological denial that Jonghyun is gone and it's nearly coming to a month and I still can't accept it. I watch their shows like hello baby and one fine day not even fully processing that he's gone. How do I handle this? Am I crazy for being like this?

No you are not crazy. I think a lot of us are experiencing this. I will be watching something with him, and it’s okay for a little while, and then I break down again. I look at them and it still hard to believe he’s gone, and I know he is. It’s all just part of the grieving process. And it’s going to take a while. It’s even more difficult, because he is going to ALWAYS be there, in film and pictures, and of course, in our hearts, but because unlike losing someone close normally...you wouldn’t be constantly be exposed to their photos or videos of them, always reminding you of your loss...but being part of the fandom...being a Shawol, it is something we are going to have to slowly get used to, and not let it break us every time we see or hear him. It makes the grieving even harder to get through, but if you want to remain a Shawol, and I hope you do for the rest of SHINee’s sake, you are going to just have to work through it. Talk to people about it. Try the new twitter Shawol Assistance Account @shawssistance  or head over to Facebook to the Support for fans who grieve for Jonghyun group. Or here on tumblr head to @kjhproject where you can vent anonymously or take their survey and be paired with another Shawol looking for someone to talk to. 

A month really isn’t that long. Just keep doing your best, day to day. You are doing fine. It will get better. IT WILL GET EASIER WITH TIME. 

please take care of yourself, find someone to talk to, and keep loving SHINee.
