March
Bye bye March! Here's what I was up to last month:
Movies:
I loved seeing some parallels in the movies I saw this month. I put them side by side for fun. In the order I saw them, oldest to newest
Gyeongju - Zhang Lu Microhabitat (♥) - Jeon Go-Woon The Favourite - Yorgos Lanthimos Sibyl - Justine Triet Priscilla - Sofia Coppola Oppenheimer - Christopher Nolan Wonka - Paul King Before We Vanish - Kiyoshi Kurosawa Tampopo (♥) - Juzo Itami Castle in the Sky (♥) - Kayao Miyazaki Sexy Beast - Jonathan Glazer Perfect Days (♥) - Wim Wenders Good Morning (♥) - Yasujiro Ozu (watched this twice this month!!) Brokeback Mountain (♥) - Ang Lee Where Is the Friend's House (♥) - Abbas Kiarostami Dune: Part Two (♥) - Denis Villeneuve Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy - Ryusuke Hamaguchi Sleeping Man - Kohei Oguri Yi Yi (♥) - Edward Yang Hana and Alice - Shunji Iwai The Delinquent Season - Mark O'Rowe True Mothers - Naomi Kawase The Table - Kim Jong-Kawn Little Fish - Chad Hartigan Dreams (♥) - Akira Kurosawa It Comes at Night - Trey Edward Shults Opening Night (♥) - John Cassavetes Influenza - Bong Joon Ho The Iron Claw (♥) - Sean Durkin The Fall - Jonathan Glazer Creepy - Kiyoshi Kurosawa My Brilliant Career (♥) - Gillian Armstrong
Knitting:
I took a break from knitting sweaters and made some other fun things instead. I knit two pairs of socks and a chicken! Surprisingly, these patterns were harder and more tedious than making a sweater.
Music:
I heard this on song on WXPN and loved it so much. I know there's many versions of this song but I think Joao Gilberto did it the best.
youtube
Other news:
youtube
Buzz and I made another music video with our friend Mike (Hour). It was extremely fun to make this video. Hope you'll give it a watch. The new Hour album comes out April 12th, 2024!

Wishlist:
Leo aka Jung Taek Woon (Kim Jeong Hyeon) and Ha Jong Woo (Han Tae Yeong) in a series together. I love their onscreen chemistry. Their characters make no sense together (this is a time where I’m not voting for the polyamory option, it doesn’t fit the story being told at all) but I want to see more of that spark. A BL would be great—stoic x sunshine, enemies to lovers, with the same basic character types they are here—but anything really as long as they share a lot of screen time.
I would love to see Happy Ending Romance redone with a bigger budget, longer runtime, consultants from the literary publishing world, and a more fully fleshed out script. I don’t know if a movie would work better than a drama series, but it needs to be either longer or tighter, or both. Possibly with a different actor for Cha Jeong Wu; I can’t tell if it’s the actor or the script making it feel like there’s a void in the center of the show instead of this brilliant writer everything is supposed to revolve around. All the other actors should stay.
I would add in at least a little more info on the scandal and exposé from three years ago that got Cha Jeong Wu exiled from the literary world, and make Tae Yeong less ridiculously incompetent at running a publishing business. Not that these are the main points of the story, but with them so vague all of the interesting, complicated relationships also feel vaguely floating in nowhereland instead of as rich and grounded as they could and should be.
I want to see more of Jeong Wu as a writer. See him writing, hear about his work, see him telling stories or playing with words, or something. "Writer" is his main personality in the story so far, and since his writer-ness is so abstract, it makes it feel like he doesn’t have a personality at all. And the actor is not charismatic enough to make up for this. Nor, honestly, do I think he should be, I do think it’s important that this guy’s appeal come from his writer-ness and not from charisma.
More fleshing out of Jeong Hyeon and Jeong Wu’s relationship. We need to feel more the love and protection and dependency that was there. And Jeong Hyeon’s controlling possessiveness alongside Jeong Wu using him to hide from the world and himself. The actors are actually both doing great at conveying that with the little bits the script gives them, but the emotional weight of Jeong Wu choosing to leave is getting diluted without a clearer picture of what he’s leaving. I do think we needed to see that kiss at the beginning; it would give an important physicality to their feelings for each other, in whatever complicated forms they take. It’s not just purient interest (not that there’s anything wrong with that); seeing how Jeong Hyeon kissed Jeong Wu, how Jeong Wu responded to it, would tells us a lot about their relationship. I realize Korean BL’s reluctance to show kisses in general, and even more so for kisses not between the endgame pair, is at work here. But this is my wishlist so I’m wishing that reluctance gone.
I keep both women; I love them. But I would like a slightly clear picture on who the one who defaced the picture is, and why she keeps showing up. I’d also take more screen time for them both.
Despite my love for Tae Yeong’s adorably giddy crush, the main romance is still the weakest part for me. I appreciate it in theory—Tae Yeong’s hero worship and Jeong Wu falling for someone who truly believes in him—but in practice I’m just not feeling it. I don’t know what exactly needs to change, but my wish is for that to be fixed.
I really do appreciate this show’s ambition, and all the complex things it’s trying to do. Which is why I’m frustrated that it isn’t quite succeeding (for me at least). I’ve also appreciated reading everyone’s thoughts on it, because there’s a lot to chew on and y’all have great insights.

The Blood Crisis
The Blood Crisis (Korean: 혤액위기) is a term the Ancient House of Jeong gave to for a succession crisis in the family due to the lack of a male heir among his grandchildren
50-year old Lord Jeong Ju-won, the patriarch of the Jeong family and the 17th Count of Jeong, He had two granddaughters born to his eldest son but no grandson.
The Jeong family were a patriarchal noble family where only men could be head of the family.
His eldest son and only daughter had been disowned due to coming out as homosexual and his daughter for running off then marrying a Kantonian man when they were 18 and 21 respectively.
He eventually proposed a proposal for his three sons Ji-woon, In-su and Yong-il, who were 25, 21 and 14 after his second eldest granddaughter Na-ri was born, the first son who gave his family a male heir would be granted the title of the 18th Count of Jeong and the grandson the 19th Count of Jeong.
This resulted in competition between the two eldest sons then Yong-il when married Lady Choi Eun-min, 32nd Countess of Choi as a suggestion between both their fathers and as a sign of friendship.
Five years later into the crisis, Lady Kim Hwa-young had a daughter named Jeong Yo-jong, out of fury, Jeong Ji-woon, the second eldest son divorced his wife in a fit of fury, he kept the baby Yo-jong and kicked his wife and his two older daughters out, then divorced her
A year later, 20-year old Yong-il, the youngest son and his wife Choi Eun-min gave birth to their daughter, Lady Jeong Mi-hee, Yong-il was highly disappointed by her birth and refused to hold her.
In-su and his wife also had a daughter named Seo-yeon around the same time as his younger brother had Mi-hee, like him he was also disappointed.
There wouldn’t be another birth until On-jo later fell pregnant with a son, tragically the boy named Jeong Dae-hyeon was stillborn, In-su in a fit of rage blamed his wife and 5 1/2 year old daughter, he divorced and disowned them.
Tragically, Mi-hee died at the age of 7 from a brain tumor, her death devastated her mother and her maternal grandfather, Lord Choi Dae-su, who later became senile after she died.
Both In-su and Ji-woon never remarried after disowning their daughters and divorcing their wives.
Lady Choi Eun-min eventually fell pregnant and gave birth to a son two years after her daughter’s demise, the family rejoiced at the birth of a grandson, the first boy born into the family other than the stillborn Dae-hyeon in more than nearly three decades.
Mark’s birth ended the crisis after 15 years but it caused a lot of travesty in the family, especially due to the disownment of two wives and their daughters, Eun-min’s mental health suffering a downward spiral after the death of Mi-hee two years prior to Mark’s birth.
29-year old Yong-il was eventually declared “Lord Jeong Yong-il, 18th Count of Jeong” and the newborn Mark “Lord Jeong Ma-keu, 19th Count of Jeong” by his father and grandfather.

Yesung holds the position of main vocalist within the acclaimed Korean pop group, Super Junior, and is signed under Label SJ, a subsidiary of SM Entertainment. YESUNG's hobbies include singing, listening to music, and exercising. He also has some specialities. 4 Times Na In Woo And Lee Kyu Han Outsmarted Bae Jong Ok In Episodes 11-12 Of “Longing For You”
We’re pretty close to the end here, and “Longing for You” doesn’t let up its frenetic pacing as it enters the penultimate week. All the villains are out in the open, so all that remains for Oh Jin Sung (Na In Woo), Go Young Joo (Kim Ji Eun), and Cha Young Woon (Kwon Yool) is to put them behind bars. But putting the chief of Korea’s biggest medical center behind bars is easier said than done,…

Bahas Film: Persona
LOVE SET menjadi cerita segmen pertama.
COLLECTOR menjadi judul film selanjutnya dalan antologi Persona.
KISS BURN menjadi judul cerita selanjutnya. Kiss Burn disutradarai oleh Jeon Go Woon, yang memenangkan penghargaan rookie director of the year untuk film Little Princess tahun 2018.
