FAILing In Love

So this just showed up in my YouTube recommended and boy am I glad it did. Like I have no words for how great this series is...No words, but I’m going to try to review it anyway.

First Impression: Ok! This is just another one of those typical high school dra---Hold up! This is not what I was expecting. *watches next episode...and next episode...* When I got to midway I had to pace myself because I really didn’t want the series to end. This was seriously not what I was expecting and in the best way possible. From the first minute in, I was hooked. It felt so authentic and real. Whew! I really enjoyed this one.

Cast: Ok! So I completely understand why everyone was in love with Si Won (Yang Hye Ji). She’s gorgeous and she has those cute little smile dimples. Adorable! I tell you. I loved Jung Chae So (Lee Seo Bin) a lot too. Yes, she’s cute but I really loved her personality. She was refreshing. 

Oh my goodness! I was out here crushing so hard on Kang Parang (Son Sang Yeon) and homeboy is literally a boy (mate is a minor). Had to cool my ovaries down and crush on Geon (Jo Ki Sung) and Si Eon (Shin Yoon Seop) instead. Honestly, my ovaries didn’t mind. 

Oh my goodness I almost forgot Mr. Baek (Lee Se Ho; he’s cuter with his bangs up BTW). Whoo man...them teachers. 

Random Fun Fact: In doing the research about the cast I realized a funny detail. The guys’ homeroom teacher (I’m not sure of his Korean name) is always wearing black and his Korean name translates to Black so he was Mr. Black (Son Woo Jin) and the girls’ homeroom teacher (Mr. Baek) was Mr. White and he was always wearing white.

Wardrobe: I really enjoyed watching their outfits. I think my favourite was Lee Si Won’s library outfit. I also loved Mr. White’s look and Si Eon in his blue-grey tees was serious eye candy.

Plot: At first, it’s your typical friends-who-might-want-to-be-more-than-just-friends-love-multi-sided shape, but it was so much more than that. Each character has so much depth and none of the drama is contrived. I was surprised by most of the plot twists (that might just be because I’m slow), but I still think it was a really well-written show and I loved the ending even though I absolutely hate love triangles (Ok it might be a love-hate relationship in all honesty) and open endings. Overall, it was beautiful. You need to watch it! I don’t want to spoil it for you.

Favourite Character: It’s so hard to choose. Kang Parang is such a well-developed character. I love him, but I love Si Won too and I love Chae So and there’s even a special spot in my heart for Si Eon (BTW I love how everyone just agrees that he’s a psychopath). All this aside, my favourite character will have to be Geon. His reactions are priceless and plus he’s kinda this unspoken glue between Si Eon and Parang. And he has a heart of gold. I just really love him.

Least Favourite Character: It’s a tie between Hee Soo (Park Ji Won) and Nam Yeon (Moon Woo Bin). One didn’t contribute much to the story and the other was a big ole meanie.

My Ship: Kung Ge Soo? I don’t know how to mashup Korean names. Maybe Chae On or Ge Soo? She’s so adorable and he is a beautiful puppy and I really loved their chemistry. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

First: Series I’ve watched where there isn’t some contrived event that knocks one of the male leads out of the runnings for the female lead’s heart. Also, these characters felt so real, like teenagers who have no clue about life but who are experiencing life and its difficulties every day.
