in the case of rumplestiltskin as the old man from up, i am 100% serious. but not only is rumple the old man, but belle, of course, is his wife.
in season 7 of ouat, rumple and belle are married, and they travel and explore realms for a bit, before moving into a house that looks suspiciously like the one from up, where belle grows old and eventually dies. rumple, of course, can not die as he is still immortal and bound to the dagger
then, as the cherry on top, we have alice, the daughter of an alternate universe killian 'hook' jones and mother gothel, as well as being her universe's version of alice of wonderland (and other places) alice takes the place of the kid from up (i've never seen up so i don't actually know any of the characters' names)
again, this is all completely 100% real true and serious. i would never lie on the internet
once upon a time actually adapted ratatouille and rumplestiltskin was remy the rat

Making a Memory (1/?)
Tumblr media
Well here it is! My submission for the Captain Swan Supernatural Summer. This idea has been in my head since last summer, but I didn't have the motivation to tackle it until this year. All I knew is that I wanted some form of The Parent Trap but I didn't like the idea of Emma and Killian being divorced, and then this is what it became.
Just a warning, there is nothing supernatural for the first few chapters.
Thank you so much to @profdanglaisstuff and @thisonesatellite for being my betas and for helping me come up with ideas for this since last summer. And to @mariakov81 for also helping with ideas and for the lovely artwork you gifted me for my birthday inspired by this story.
Thank you @gingerchangeling for the amazing artwork you made for this fic! I love it so much
Summary: Hope Swan and Alice Jones meet at summer camp and immediately realize two things: they look exactly alike and they don’t like each other. But the more they delve into things the more they realize this is not just another case of The Parent Trap, and that there may be more at stake (and more danger) than they thought.
Rated T (although it could change later on)
Read on Ao3
For as long as she could remember, Hope Swan had wanted to go to sleepaway camp. Oh sure, she’d been going to regular day camps every summer since she was five, but she wanted some time away from her mom. She’d begged her every year, but Emma Swan told her every year that they couldn’t afford it (bail bonds kept them comfortable, but didn’t leave a lot for extras). And every year Hope was disappointed. But this year, the year she was 13 (14 in three months), all that changed.
Hope’s older brother, Henry, had published his first novel a year ago at the age of 28 (yes, there was a 15 year age gap between them; that’s what happens when your mom first gets pregnant at 17, she waits a while before having another kid) and now had a sequel coming out, and had offered to pay for Hope to go to camp. Six weeks away from her mom. Not that Hope didn’t love her mom, but she was getting overbearing now that she was officially a teenager. It was as if she didn’t trust her at all. Hope had asked Henry if she was the same way when he turned 13, but he just gave a shrug and left it at that. Hope figured that being 45 with a 13-year-old and being 30 with a 13-year-old were completely different. And now she was here and having a great time and making new friends (Jen and Bianca), when she discovered the Jones girl.
She hadn’t noticed her on the first day. There were two 13-year-old girl cabins and Alice Jones happened to be in the other one. But on the second day, two girls from the other cabin said hi to her and called her Alice. She’d never seen these girls, since they weren’t in her cabin, but she figured it was the second day and all, and they must have mistaken her for another blonde-haired camper. But then more girls from the other cabin started calling her Alice and one of them tried to get her to go back to the other cabin with her. It was finally at lunch on that second day that she glanced over at the other cabin’s table and noticed a girl that looked exactly like her, except instead of her shoulder-length curls, this girl had much longer curls with purple streaks in them.
Jen noticed her looking. “The nerve of her! Coming here with your face!” She said angrily.
“Well, at least I understand why people thought I was someone else now.” Hope said. Of all the places to meet her doppleganger, she never would have thought it would have been at sleepaway camp. “It’s not a big deal, people will realize we’re two separate people eventually.” She said as she watched the Alice girl laughing with girls from her own cabin.
Except they didn’t. Everyday someone called her Alice and it was irritating Hope. Yes, they looked alike, but otherwise they were very different. Alice was a lot more punk rock, what with the streaks in her hair, the fact that she wore nothing but vintage band t-shirts and frayed cutoff shorts with Converse shoes. Hope mainly wore tank tops (sometimes with an open flannel shirt over it) with Bermuda shorts and sandals. She also wore her hair up in a simple ponytail, a perfect clone of her mother. Except for her blue eyes. Her mother seemed to have no idea where those came from seeing as she had green and her father had brown, or so she’d been told. She was too young to remember him when he died. Must have had two recessive blue eyes finally meet up her mother used to joke. Hope hadn’t got close enough to Alice to look at her eyes, but she wouldn’t be surprised if she had blue eyes too.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alice Jones was a bit of an odd duck. At least, that’s what she’d been told. Her Papa joked she had “a touch of the sight”. Alice didn’t think she was that peculiar. She likened herself to Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series (minus the radish earrings). She just got gut feelings about people. But running into a girl who looked almost identical to herself at a summer camp was nothing she could have ever predicted. It was unnerving to see someone who looked so similar to herself but wasn’t her. It was like looking into a mirror to see a super serious version of herself. She didn’t like it one bit. And Alice liked everything. Nothing rattled her. She didn’t know why this girl did.
It wasn’t as if this girl -- Hope, she’d learned her name was Hope -- had done anything to her either. Her mere presence just left her feeling unsettled. That touch of sight her father joked that she had been sending off warning bells in her gut that something wasn’t right. But what could she do to avoid her?  Alice thought that would be easy considering the size of the camp, she just didn’t bank on Hope having many of the same interests that she did. That first day, after all the rules had been told to them, they got to try out different specials (activities) and Hope seemed to be at most of the ones Alice had also gone to, and the feeling in her gut grew worse and worse. Like they weren’t supposed to be around each other.
“Everyone deserves a chance no matter what is in their past, Starfish.” Her Papa would say to her. It had just been her and her Papa for as long as Alice could remember. She usually had trouble making friends, being slightly odd as many girls she’d tried to befriend had told her, but she loved making new friends when the opportunity arose, and if people didn’t mind her idiosyncrasies. She’d always loved playing make-believe. She would often pretend she was Alice from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and have tea parties with her Papa and stuffed animals (Papa was always a pirate in her make-believe world though). As she got older she started sketching landscapes and the occasional self-portrait and had won several art prizes at her school and local contests. That was why she was confused about the feelings she was having concerning Hope. She should be forging a friendship with this girl, getting to know her, not feeling like she should stay as far away from her as possible. How many people got to meet someone who looked exactly like them?
“Hey, Alice, it’s time for lunch!” Viola yelled, startling Alice out of her thoughts. Alice usually loved mealtimes, she loved food, grilled cheese and onion rings being her favorite, but that was when she knew she’d see Hope and her stomach would practically rebel at a mere glance at her. She’d been so excited to finally get to go to sleepaway camp (something she’d been begging her Papa about for years). It just hadn’t been feasible on a dock manager’s salary, but this year they’d started a scholarship program and Alice had applied and received it, so here she was. Too bad her camp experience was being ruined by her weird sixth sense.
“Thanks!” Alice said getting up from her bunk and slipping on her worn, pink Converse.
Alice wondered if she would have the urge to avoid Hope the entire summer. That would definitely dampen the camp experience.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The change from avoidance to rivalry started over fencing of all things. Alice hadn’t known it was Hope that the director had pitted her against, as they were both wearing the required fencing masks and gear and it was impossible to tell who her opponent was. Alice had only recently started taking fencing lessons, something her Papa had wanted her to do, but she’d never been much for physical education or sports. She would have preferred archery or horseback riding (things she was happy she was getting to experience here at camp), but those were a bit expensive. The local YMCA offered fencing lessons for a low fee.
Her opponent was much better than she was. Alice had more of a hack at the other person with her sword approach rather than the correct stance. The other girl had much better form than she did and Alice could hear the frustrated sounds coming from her whenever Alice used two hands on her sword or kicked her opponent away (which Alice knew wasn’t legal, but this wasn’t a tournament and they were padded for goddess sake). At one point, Alice’s sword had been knocked out of her hands and she just lunged at the other girl. Alice knew she wasn’t playing by the rules, but she wanted to win and the fencing specialist hadn’t blown their whistle at her, so she kept on doing what she was doing.
Eventually, Alice ended up on her back with her opponent above her after she had tried to kick her again and her opponent had grabbed her foot instead, making Alice fall to the ground. They had definitely thrown the rules out the window, especially with her adversary completely disregarding the little footwork Alice had learned and doing swishy twists and turns. Bad form as her Papa would say. So, if she wasn’t going to play by the rules, then she wouldn’t either. Alice quickly kicked her knee upward, essentially kicking her opponent in the groin (even though she knew it wouldn’t hurt nearly as badly for a girl as it would a boy), but it was enough to push her back off of her. The distraction was enough that Alice managed to get herself back on her feet and jab the tip of her sword at the other girl’s chest. The whistle finally blew and the specialist came over asking the girls to take off their fencing masks so she could declare the winner and make sure they shook hands like good sports.
To say that both Alice and Hope were in shock when they realized they’d been fencing each other was an understatement.
“That was bad form, all that kicking you were doing.” Hope sneered at Alice.
“Me?” Alice practically screeched. “What was with all the twists and turns? Give you a leather duster and you could have been a pirate.”
“Girls,” the specialist said, trying to regain some control over the situation, “can you please just shake hands?” But both girls refused. Hope shucked off the rest of the fencing gear, threw her sword onto the ground, and huffed off while Alice actually attempted to pull her hand out of her glove for a handshake. The specialist gave a shrug to Alice and picked up the gear Hope had thrown on the ground before announcing that formal fencing lessons would be every Tuesday and Thursday during Specials time. Alice slowly took off her gear and put it in the designated bins. As much as she would enjoy fencing over the summer, running into Hope was not something she was looking forward to, so she decided to try something else to avoid her.
But it wasn’t as easy as it sounded.
Archery had been the next special Alice wanted to try. And there was Hope, already there with her arrow nocked in her bow and an arrow practically in the bullseye. After a few tries of her own (and almost hitting Hope --accidentally-- twice), Alice realized that maybe watching archery was more fun than actually trying to shoot a bow and arrow. Especially, because Hope thought she was trying to hit her on purpose.
“It was an accident.” Alice gritted through her teeth.
“Sure it was.” Hope huffed, swishing her ponytail behind her and storming off with two of her friends in tow.
“God, why is she such a bitch?” Alice’s friend, Lori, asked. “Anyone can see you’re just not that coordinated.” Lori joked. “Maybe you should just stick with art.”
“Yeah.” Said Alice sheepishly. She put the archery equipment away and headed for the art shack.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two days! It had been two days and Alice was already a thorn in her side!
“She’s like your stalker. She’s always showing up where you are.” Bianca huffed, sitting down on one of the benches in the ramada. Hope had needed to be away from the prying ears of her cabin.
“Yeah! Who does she think she is? It’s like she’s trying to be you.” Jen added in angrily, having just arrived from a trip to the Snack Shack. Even though they’d only been camp friends for the past four days, Hope, Bianca, and Jen had quickly bonded the way only 13-year-olds that had to live together could. She handed out packs of candy that she had got for them, gummy worms for herself and Bianca, and a pack of black licorice for Hope.
It was true that it seemed like wherever Hope was, Alice inevitably ended up there too. “There’s really only so many places one can go here, girls. I mean, we only have so many choices.” Hope said, opening her bag of licorice and taking a bite. She still hesitated to be around Alice, but it’s not like they could go anywhere outside of the boundary of the campgrounds. “I appreciate the sentiment though.” Hope said happy for the support. “I know it’s not rational, to dislike someone just because they look almost identical to me.” Her blue eyes looked to the ground.
“Hey, no matter what, we’ve got your back.” Bianca reminded her.
“And speaking of having your back,” Jen said, pulling out a piece of paper from her back pocket, “look at this.” She unfolded the paper and smoothed it down in front of them. It was an announcement for a dance.
“They’ve invited the boys camp from across the lake!” Jen said excitedly. The flyer announced that the dance would be in one week. “I can’t wait! I’ve never been to a dance.” She pressed the flyer to her lips and kissed it.
“Want to get a first kiss?” Bianca asked teasingly.
“What, like you’ve been kissed?” Jen responded back not so teasingly.
“I’ve been kissed.” Hope spoke up to diffuse the situation. She was older than most of her cabinmates, her birthday being in September, only three months away, so she did have a little bit more experience than some of them. Both girls’ eyes lit up.
“What was it like?” Jen asked.
“I bet it was super romantic.” Bianca said dreamily.
Hope, laughed and then cringed. “Um, my best guy friend and I tried kissing a few weeks before school got out. We’ve been friends since fourth grade.” She blushed at the embarrassment of the memory, Bianca and Jen hanging on her every word. “It was tech week for our school play, Peter Pan. I was Peter. That’s how I know how to sword fight.” Bianca and Jen both gave Hope an exasperated look as she started going off topic. “ Sorry. Anyway, he was on backstage crew and we were outside waiting for our parents to come pick us up. I saw my mom’s car and as I went to give him a hug like I usually did, because that’s just how we are, and he kissed me.”
Both Bianca and Jen’s eyes looked like they were going to bug out of their heads and they both had the widest grins on their faces.
“So, how was it?” Jen asked, breaking the awkward silence of them both staring at Hope.
“Wet.” The girls laughed. “And weird. We didn’t know what we were doing. And he had braces. And, I think I can wait before getting kissed again.” The girls all dissolved into giggles. “I was really glad I was going to camp for the summer so I wouldn’t have to see him everyday. We both agreed to just stay friends.” Hope had not told her mother, even though she was bursting to. Hope knew that her mother had had bad luck with men, her father on the top of that list, and she really didn’t know how her mother would react to her having been kissed. She had confessed to Henry though. He told her he was the same age when he’d had his first kiss as well, which made her feel better about the whole thing.
“That’s still so exciting!” Bianca said breathlessly and finished up the last of her gummy worms. “I don’t know how you can eat black licorice.” She made a face to show what she really thought of it.
“I don’t like sweet stuff.” Hope scoffed and took a large bite of licorice.
“Whatever.” Jen said, grabbing her trash and throwing it away. “Let’s get back to the cabin so we can figure out what we’re going to wear to this dance.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Did you hear about the dance?” Viola practically screamed as she rushed into the cabin. Alice looked up from where she’d been sketching the view from her window, not the greatest view, but Alice was trying to make her grass look more realistic and less like pencil strokes on the page.
“A dance?” Lori asked almost falling off her bunk to look at the flyer Viola had in her hands. They looked over the flyer as several other girls in the cabin also flocked over to them to peruse the flyer; all of them talking excitedly about finally getting to dress up a bit and getting to see members of the opposite sex after two weeks. This inevitably brought up the girl’s experiences with boys (not that they seemed to have a lot), a conversation that Alice felt uncomfortable with. Alice didn’t have much interest in boys yet (something she was sure her Papa was happy about). She wasn’t quite sure how she felt about them in general, let alone to do things with. She had her Papa and that’s really all she needed. That and her art. Just leave her in a beautiful location for a few hours with a sketch pad and some drawing utensils and she was happy.
“What about you, Alice?” Lori, a bushy haired girl asked after regaling the girls in the cabin with a tale of how the first guy she had kissed had also tried to cop a feel and had only discovered the tissues she’d stuffed into her bra.
“Oh, me?” Alice asked. “No kissing for me. I’m not really good with boys.” Once again, Alice was feeling like an oddball.
“Don’t worry,” said Viola, coming to sit over near Alice and taking her hand, “not all of us are boy crazy.” Viola smiled sweetly at her. Alice’s stomach nearly did a somersault.
Oh!
“Thanks.” Alice said giving a shy smile back and keeping their hands clasped a little while longer before pulling it away to continue her drawing.
Alice decided she would just find a chair out on the patio and sketch during the dance, since (according the the flyer) the whole shebang was mandatory. She would have rather stayed in her cabin during the dance instead of watching her cabinmates flirt badly with the boys.
Unfortunately, the intention of finding a boy to dance with for the night that Hope had been banking on, and the quiet drawing in the corner that Alice had hoped for (and maybe talking to Viola a bit more), did not end up coming to fruition.
It had started out great. Hope, Bianca, and Jen were in their pack and had all been asked to dance by boys in their own group. Sterling had been the one to catch Hope’s eye. He seemed quiet and reserved, and upon speaking to him for a little bit, found that he was very much into science.
“I’ve never been that good with science myself,” Hope told him sweetly when he brought up some experiment he was doing with blue lights at his camp, “but I know crime novels use blue and black lights to find blood at crime scenes.” She said hoping that she hadn’t come off as creepy. Luckily, Sterling thought it was adorable. He smiled at her and she noticed he was not wearing braces, even better.
Meanwhile, Alice had attempted to cajole Viola to come hang with her outside while she drew a picture of the lake in the moonlight. She’d brought some of her charcoal so she was making quite a mess of herself, but she wasn’t planning on doing much dancing or interacting with anyone else. “I’ll come out here later when I need a drink, okay?” Viola had said, smiling at her again. The drinks and refreshments had been set up under the patio not too far from where Alice had situated herself. She just hoped that none of the directors would notice her out here and try to make her come inside.
Alice had probably been outside all of 30 minutes when her gut started telling her something was wrong. She looked up at the sky thinking maybe rain was coming, but it was a clear, cloudless night. She looked over to the refreshment table and saw Hope talking with a boy. That must have been what set it off. She didn’t need any trouble from Hope right now, so she went back to her drawing. But it wasn’t meant to be.
After a few minutes a male voice asked her. “What are you drawing?” Alice looked up to see the boy that Hope had just been talking to looking over her shoulder at the barely started drawing.
“Um,” Alice said nervously, “just drawing the lake in the moonlight.” She looked back at the landscape in front of her determined not to continue this conversation. The last thing she needed was for Hope to have another reason to not like her just because this boy wanted to talk to her too.
She continued to draw and glanced over at the refreshment table to see a few girls she didn’t recognize hanging out and talking, when he spoke again.
“Are you just going to ignore me all night? I thought we’d hit it off pretty well in there.” Alice closed her eyes and gave a nervous laugh. Of course he thought she was Hope. Her doppelganger must have either gone to the restroom or ditched him and now he was out here thinking she was the girl he’d been talking to all evening.
“I’m not Hope.” she said plainly, still not looking up from her drawing.
“Are you seriously trying to pretend you’re someone else right now?” He asked incredulously. Alice rolled her eyes at the ridiculousness of this whole situation.
“I’m not Hope. We just look alike. Tell me, how did I all of a sudden get purple streaks in my hair and have charcoal on my hands if I was with you?” She huffed. The boy opened his mouth to say something when the girl in question came out the double doors and immediately stopped at the scene in front of her.
“What the hell is going on out here?” Hope asked, hands crossing over her chest like armor. She was glaring at Alice, like the boy talking to her was her fault.
“I…, I mean…” The boy looked very confused as he turned his head looking at both girls.
“Mistaken identity. He thought I was you.” Alice said finally putting her drawing notebook and charcoal down and getting up from the chair she’d been sitting in all night. Her explanation did not seem to pacify Hope at all.
“Seriously, Sterling?” Hope walked over, the niggling in Alice’s gut getting worse. “You couldn’t tell the difference between us?” Sterling, for his part, had turned bright red and seemed quite embarrassed about the mix-up. “And you!” Hope said, swinging her body toward Alice’s. “I’m sure you didn’t have any part of this at all. I saw you out here before when we were talking. Hanging on every word.”
Alice was very confused as to what was happening now. She’d been sitting outside drawing and minding her own business. She hadn’t encouraged the boy in any way and now Hope was accusing her of intentionally, what, pretending to be her in this whole thing?”
“Look, Hope, I didn’t…” But Alice never got to finish her sentence as she felt a stinging sensation overcome her whole face. Hope stood across from her staring at her own hand as if she couldn’t believe she’d just slapped Alice. Sterling snuck off as the gaggle of girls who’d been chatting at the refreshment table stopped to watch the scene that was unfolding.
Alice held her hand to her face, not believing that Hope had had the audacity to slap her. And at the same moment, rage at this whole situation finally reached its boiling point, and Alice slapped Hope back, leaving a charcoal handprint across Hope’s face. Alice immediately put both hands over her mouth, horrified at what she had done.
“I’m sorry.” Alice said quickly, trying to diffuse the whole situation, but Hope 's eyes were practically black from her seething anger and she grabbed Alice’s hair and yanked her to the ground.
Alice was vaguely aware that there were screams coming from the other participants of the dance. That someone had yelled for the director, Mrs. Hatfield and the director of the boys camp. That Lori and Viola and Hope’s two friends all came out to try and convince the girls to stop fighting. Everything seemed to be happening in slow motion.
As Hope dragged Alice down to the ground, Alice grabbed Hope around the knees, pulling her down to the ground as well. Hope immediately tried to gain the upper hand by straddling Alice and trying to slap her again, but Alice managed to roll her over so she was on top. They both kept rolling each other over, trying to regain the upper hand when they hit the refreshment table. More screaming abounded as the table came crashing down. Alice managed to avoid the punch from drenching her (as she happened to be on top when it came down on Hope), but Hope managed to wrench her over right as the ranch dressing came down on her face.
“Girls! Girls!” Mrs. Hatfield screamed. The director of the boys camp finally managed to pull Hope off of Alice (who now also had bits of chips in her hair), and get the two girls separated.
Mrs. Hatfield had seen enough. “In all my years,” she said, trying to maintain some semblance of control in her voice, when all she wanted to do was rant and rave at these girls, “this has been the most revolting, the most disgusting display of hooliganism we have ever had.” Alice hung her head in shame. For once her gut had led her down the wrong path and she would have to pay the price. “And from sisters who should be leading by example…”
“We’re not sisters!” Hope exclaimed, appalled that she had been brought into this as an instigator. Mrs. Hatfield’s mouth dropped and she looked from Hope to Alice and then back to Hope again.
“But they are, aren’t they?” Mrs. Hatfield asked the two other directors who were assessing all the food and drink that were now on the floor.
“Uh, no.” said one director with curly, red hair  who looked between the two girls. “We have here, Alice Jones and Hope Swan. They just happen to look alike.”
Mrs. Hatfield looked at both of them again as if she couldn’t quite believe what she was hearing, but then gave up on trying to figure out why they looked so much alike when they weren’t actually related.
“You two will clean up this mess and then tomorrow you will pack your bags to move into the Get Along Cabin up the hill.” She said firmly.
“But…” Hope started to protest. She couldn’t believe she’d gotten herself into this situation. The moment she had slapped Alice she knew she’d been in the wrong, but it was like she couldn’t stop herself. Mrs. Hatfield cut her off with a look that would stop the deadliest murderer from coming anywhere near her.
“You have two hours to make this back porch spotless and then tomorrow you will have until noon to pack up your stuff. Are we clear?” She barked at them. Hope and Alice nodded. Mrs. Hatfield walked past the two sullen girls, motioned for the rest of the campers to follow her, and left the two girls on the back porch. Hope and Alice looked at each other, neither one wanting to admit that they were somewhat at fault, and began to start cleaning up what they could. Alice realized, after they cleaned the entire back porch, that her drawing notebook and charcoal must have ended up in the lake during the scuffle.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope was determined to ignore Alice. Since they had been made to inhabit the Get Along Cabin, Hope had not said one word to her. Alice watched the first two days as Hope would get up in the morning with the camp radio station that blared into the cabin at 7AM, grab her things for a shower (their cabin boasted it’s own bathroom complete with shower, so they always had hot water and only had to share with each other, and not trek down the hill to the communal one), got ready after her shower, and headed down to the mess hall for breakfast. Alice liked to take her time in the mornings, especially since she and Hope had to also share the Get Along Table for all their meals. Luckily, they were able to join their own cabins for daily activities, but meals and free time were all spent together so they could learn to ‘get along’. Alice kept herself busy reading and rereading books she had brought with her, or drawing in another one of her notebooks. The bad gut feeling that Alice always had around Hope had calmed down immensely since they’d been made to cohabitate, and Alice, for the first time, wondered what her gut had been trying to tell her.
Hope, on the other hand, knew this whole thing was her fault but refused to admit it. She was being stubborn (like her mother). She had no idea what had compelled her to slap Alice when seeing the look on Sterling’s face told her that he had honestly mixed up the two girls. She just knew that she was so angry that a boy she kind of liked couldn’t tell the difference between them and it had really made her angry.  She felt that her whole camp experience had been ruined by this girl and no amount of ‘I’m sorry’s’ were going to make up for that. Even if she needed to be the one to apologize to Alice. So she continued to ignore her instead.
Hope had known Alice liked to draw, but she didn’t realize how much she drew and just how good she actually was. She’d been drawing the past two days any time they were in the cabin. After each picture was finished being drawn, she would carefully rip it out of the book and tape it up on the wall by her bed. Many of them seemed to be landscape drawings of a small town that boasted an old clock tower above, what Alice had mumbled, was a library. Other drawings were of people that Hope had originally assumed were in Alice’s life, but when she drew a picture of what looked like a huntress version of Snow White and Prince Charming, Hope assumed that they were either part of Alice’s imagination, or maybe video game or cartoon characters. Hope still refused to talk to Alice so she couldn’t ask her what they were all about.
On the third day of their isolation, it rained. Cold, windy rain that made the campgrounds into a giant mud pit, so everyone had to stay in their cabins after lunch. Which meant Hope and Alice were stuck with each other until either the rain stopped or dinnertime. Hope was bored out of her mind. Unlike Alice, she had not thought to bring cabin activities to do when stuck in a cabin. She figured being at camp all the entertainment was provided for you. She hadn’t counted on downtime due to a rainy day.
It was unbearably muggy in the cabin, even though the rain brought cooler temperatures, the humidity was still clinging making Hope feel hot and sticky even though she had goosebumps. She figured opening the window a touch wouldn’t be that bad, just enough to cool the room down, or at least give her a bit of a breeze in which to lower her body temperature.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t what happened. Hope attempted to partially open the window, but it was as if it had a mind of its own and sprang open all the way. One little tug and rain and wind came pouring into the room!
“Oh, crap!” Hope exclaimed as she tried to get the window back down. A gust of wind and a torrential downpour of rain came sweeping into the room.
“HELP!” Hope screamed as papers started getting blown around the room and her bedspread started to get soaked.
Alice had been listening to music through an old iPod (cell phones were not allowed at camp, and even if they were, the reception was probably terrible) with earbuds in her ears when she heard Hope screaming. She took a deep breath, wondering what had happened that made Hope actually want to speak to her. She looked over to see rain pouring in the window onto Hope’s bed, and her drawings being blown off the walls and getting absolutely soaked.
She immediately tore the earbuds out of her ears and ran over to help. It took both of them, but they eventually got the window down to just a crack, enough to help cool the room but not enough for the rain and wind to get in.
“Oh, no!” Hope said, looking at the mess that had befallen the room. She started picking up the drawings that had been blown off the walls. “I’m so sorry.”
Just a few days ago Alice’s gut would’ve made her believe that Hope had done this on purpose and she would have been seething with anger. But today, today her gut was telling her Hope was being completely sincere. And why hadn’t it been doing this before. Why had she thought Hope was this horrible person after barely meeting her and over a stupid boy? She was 13 for goddess sake, she should know better than that.
“It’s okay.” Alice said, trying to save some of the pieces. She’d try and hang them over the radiator and see if they could be salvaged.
“Did you draw all these?” Hope asked, picking up one of the least wet pieces of artwork. It was one that Alice had done based off a book she’d read. It was Red Riding Hood, but retold as if she were also the wolf. Alice had drawn her with her red cloak billowing around her with a wolfish grin upon her lips. It was a stunning picture.
“Yeah. They’re based on a book I read.” Alice said not wanting to give Hope more information then she’d asked for. Their relationship was tentative at this point and her drawings were a sore spot for her when they were made fun of.
“They’re really good.” Hope said, now looking at the picture of the Evil Queen from Snow White. She definitely did not look like the Disney version, with the high ponytail and low plunging dress with bustier. “What book?”
“Um, it’s a new series. The first book came out a year ago, the sequel should be out right when camp ends. It’s called Once Upon a Time.” Alice gathered the rest of her drawings up from Hope as she explained the book. When it had come out, Alice felt as if someone had reached straight into her dreams and put them on the page. She’d always loved a good alternative fairy tale, but she’d seen these characters in her mind for years. It was like the author had created these characters directly from her brain.
Hope gasped. “Once Upon a Time by Henry Mills?” She asked incredulously. Alice nodded and Hope broke out into a huge grin. “That’s my brother. He wrote it.” Alice almost dropped the pictures on the damp floor again.
“Your brother is Henry Mills, the author of the book I’m currently obsessed with?” Alice couldn’t believe it. She’d almost become mortal enemies with the sister of her most favorite author. Stupid gut feeling. “You must tell me everything you know about the sequel?” She asked, now overly excited.
“Uh, I actually haven’t read it.” Hope admitted. She wasn’t much for fairy tales. She preferred crime and mystery novels. Alice’s eyes almost bugged out of her head at her admission.
“Your brother wrote a book and you didn’t even read it?” Alice asked, appalled. She ran over to her bed and Hope thought she might be ignoring her again, but then she realized she was searching through her belongings.”Ah ha!” she exclaimed when she found what she was looking for. It was a copy of Henry’s book with a brown cover that was supposed to mimic leather with gold lettering.
“Isn’t your last name Swan?” Alice asked as she brought the book over to Hope.
“Pen name.” Hope said, shrugging. She opened the book to the table of contents. She knew it was a book of fairy tales, that much Henry had told her, but Hope preferred reality to fantasy. Something she definitely picked up from her mother. Give her a good crime drama any day over a sappy Disney movie. The first chapter was entitled Wanted: Snow White for Crimes Against the Queen: Murder, Treason, Treachery. Well that was definitely different from the Disney version. The second chapter was titled A Wolf in Red Clothing, the third simply Elf Tonic.
Hope turned the page to the first chapter to see a wanted poster illustrating the chapter title. It was a pencil drawing of Snow White on a wanted poster with her crimes listed below her face. The drawing looked slightly familiar to Hope. Something about the chin, she couldn’t put her finger on it. Henry probably had it around his apartment when he was in the development stages and she’d seen it there and forgotten. But it tickled at her brain.
“They don’t seem to be your typical fairy tale fare do they?” Hope said flipping through to see other pencil drawn illustrations throughout the book.
“They are so much better. No damsels in distress in need of rescuing by a big strong prince, lots of women power and what not. Characters popping in and out of other fairy tale’s stories, and earned True Love’s Kiss. Your brother has a very vivid imagination!” Alice said excitedly.
“What’s this?” Hope asked, flipping to the final picture in the book, a baby being put into what looked like a tree with the name Emma on her baby blanket.
“It’s the whole impetus for the next book! What happens to Emma in the Land Without Magic after her father saved her from the Evil Queen’s curse to make everyone unhappy forever. She’s supposed to be the Savior and bring back the happy endings!”  Hope ran her fingers over the picture, almost as if she were looking at a memory, rather than a fictional drawing.
“Our mother’s name is Emma.” Hope said pensively. “I didn’t realize Henry named a character after her. She’s amazing. Raised both of us without a dad. I guess he was in our lives for a little bit, considering the age difference between me and Henry, but he died when I was two, so it’s just been us and her for pretty much my whole life. She didn’t grow up with any family, so I guess it’s fitting...” Hope said wistfully, her heart suddenly so thankful that Henry decided to name a character in his book after their mother and make her the hero she always felt she was. “What about you, Alice? What’s your mother like?” Hope asked, wanting to take the spotlight off of her.
The smile that had been on Alice’s face vanished. She didn’t necessarily look sad, just void of emotion. “I don’t have a mother, just me and my Papa. My mother also died when I was two.” She took the book back from Hope, closed it, then sat to face Hope. “That’s weird, right? That both of us lost a parent when we were two?” Alice looked at Hope expectantly, waiting for something more from her, but she just looked down at the ground.
“There was a fire at our apartment. Papa got me out, Mama wasn’t so lucky. After that we moved out of Boston to the country. He still works in the city though, he just wanted something better for us and he didn’t want reminders of my mother all over the place. I don’t even have any pictures of her, something about them getting all burned up in the fire. I’m not sure why they didn’t have any in the Cloud or Google Photos or whatever. The only picture I’ve ever seen of my mother is a pencil sketch my Papa did when they first met.” Alice set her head back against Hope’s bed frame where they’d been sitting down on the floor. She glanced over at Hope who was looking over at her with wide eyes. “What?” Alice said, concerned.
“My father died in a fire too.” Hope barely whispered. “Mom got me and Henry out, but she couldn’t get back in for him. And the only pictures I’ve seen of him are from when he and my mom originally met, before he left her the first time. Somehow, all our pictures were lost in the fire, which, like you said, makes no sense seeing as we all have computers and smart phones and what not.” It was Alice who now had wide eyes when Hope looked over at her. “Don’t you think that’s weird?” Hope continued, “That we look alike and that we both lost a parent in a fire and that we have barely any pictures of the other parent. What’s your dad’s name?” Hope asked, all sense of pretense going out the window. She suddenly felt like they could be connected somehow. This overwhelming heaviness had invaded her body and she needed answers that could make it go away. There was no way they had this much in common without there being something connecting them.
“Killian Jones.” Alice answered immediately, because her gut was going crazy, practically pushing her to find these answers. “And your mother?”
“Emma Swan.” Hope replied. They sat in silence, not sure where to go from there. The answers hadn’t brought any huge revelation. Neither name meant anything to the other.
“When’s your birthday?” Alice asked. “Mine is September 27th.” If they had the same birthday that could still mean something. Maybe the reason for no photographs had been because of something else.
“September 28th.” Hope said. They both deflated a little. Until…
“What time were you born, Hope? I was born at 9:07 at night. I know because Papa always reminds me that it was the beginning of this huge lunar eclipse that also happened to fall on the Harvest Moon that year and it was called the Super Moon, so he used to call me his Super Harvest Baby.” Alice smiled at the memory. She looked over at Hope whose mouth was practically on the ground.
“I was born at 12:27, right when it ended. My mom also used to call me her Super Harvest Baby.” Hope paused as if she were thinking of the next thing to say. “This can’t be a coincidence. I...I,” She paused again, trying to get the right words out. “I think we might be twins, just born on either side of midnight.” Hope struggled to get the words out, her eyes now filling with tears at the prospect that she might not only have a sister she didn’t know about, but a twin sister at that.
The two girls stared at each other for a while, not sure what to do with the information that they both felt was the truth. Hope had felt the weight that had been pressing on her lift the moment she had suggested they were twins. Alice’s gut had stopped sending her warning signals too. They both felt this had to be true, they just couldn’t figure out how it could be true.
“Do you think we were separated somehow? Maybe our mother and father adopted us and we’re not biologically theirs?” Alice wondered aloud.
“No. I’m the spitting image of my mom, and so are you I suppose, just with blue eyes instead of green. And my dad had brown eyes, so I know they didn’t come from him.” Hope said, disputing Alice’s theory right off the bat.
“But my I have my dad’s blue eyes, which would also mean you do too.” Alice contemplated.
“Maybe they lied to us about the fire. It seems awfully convenient now that our other parent is dead and all the pictures of us with that parent disappeared.” Alice said grimly. She really didn’t like the thought of her Papa lying to her about something that important, but it seemed the only logical conclusion at the moment.
“Henry!” Hope all but yelled in Alice’s face. Alice looked at her confused. “Henry! He was 15 when I was born. Certainly he would know the whole story. Hopefully, he would tell me the whole story.”  She suddenly looked concerned. “We need to talk to him somehow. I don’t want to freak him out in a letter, which means I somehow need to call him.” She started pacing the cabin. “But the directors won’t let us use phones. Even if we were in better standing than we currently were.” Hope said, getting more and more distressed.
“I think I can help you with that part.” Alice announced as her face widened into a huge smile.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was lunch time the next day before Alice finally clued in Hope as to what she meant. Since they were in the Get Along Cabin, they were also forced to eat lunch at their own table away from the rest of the cabins. But Alice’s friend, Lori, from her former cabin, had managed to sneak a cell phone into camp and was using that to get money, food, and other sundries from her cabin mates.
Alice walked by her former cabin after receiving her lunch in line and gave a series of knocks on the table as she walked by. That was apparently the signal to let Lori know that she was interested in using the phone. Alice continued walking to the table she and Hope shared to eat lunch.
“That’s it?” Hope asked, having watched Alice give the signal.
“Yes. She’ll get in touch with us at some point today. You better have some money ready for her or she won’t give us anything.” Alice said, taking a bite of her sandwich which looked to her to be just orange marmalade and bread. Hope grimaced.
“What, it’s good.” Alice said, defending her sandwich choices.
They didn’t hear from Lori until after lights out that night. Hope’s anxiety was getting the best of her, convinced that her mother had been lying to her about her father her whole life. Alice was taking it more in stride, as she didn’t get flustered easily. That and her gut didn’t seem to sense that her father had ever lied to her, which made things more confusing.
A series of knocks, similar to the ones Alice had tapped on Lori’s table earlier that day, sounded from the other side of the door. Alice knocked back before letting Lori in. Hope rolled her eyes over the whole spy scenario they had going on.
After the door closed, Alice finally spoke. “Hope needs to make a phone call.” Lori looked at Hope, only knowing that she was the rival of her friend.
“Why should I help her?” Lori asked scrutinizing Hope who sat on her bed practically ignoring the whole conversation. “She doesn’t even look like she wants my help.”
“I do want your help.” Hope said with a sigh. “I need to call my brother. It’s an emergency and it concerns both myself and Alice, so name me your price so we can just get this over with, please.”
Lori arched a bushy eyebrow at Alice who nodded in agreement. “20 bucks.” she said simply.
“20 bucks for a phone call?” Hope asked incredulously, but this phone call was important and she really needed to talk to Henry.
“Hey, you took way more than that playing poker the other night.” Lori retaliated. Hope sighed. Lori was right. She’d walked away with at least $40 in quarters and ones. Hope walked over to her bed and pulled out a small box from under it and grabbed twenty ones. She stood up and walked back over to Lori and gave her the money. Lori made a big show of counting the money out before handing the phone over to Hope.
Hope dialed the number for Henry’s phone, thankful that she’d had his cell phone number memorized since she was six in case of emergencies, and praying that he answered even though it would come up as an unknown number. Surprisingly, he answered on the first ring.
“Hello?” Came the voice of her brother from the other side of the line.
“Oh, Henry, thank goodness. It’s Hope.” She said relieved.
“Aren’t you supposed to be at camp?” He asked, and then, “Are you alright? Do I need to come rescue you?” Big Brother Henry, always looking out for Little Sister.
“No, everything’s fine. Or, well….I don’t really know how to explain it.” She paused trying to get her bearings. Alice had distracted Lori from listening in by showing Lori her newest drawings that she’d done since moving into the Get Along Cabin. It seemed that Lori was a big fan of Alice’s artwork. Hope took a deep breath, “Um, there’s a girl here, who looks almost, well no, she is, identical to me. Her name is Alice.” She paused trying to see if she could hear any type of reaction from Henry, but there was nothing but the sound of his breathing on the other end. “Anyway, we have some questions, and, well, I thought you might be able to answer them.”
Henry remained silent for so long that Hope almost had to check the phone to see if they were still connected. After what seemed like forever, she heard Henry sigh.
“Do you have a day when your camp goes into town that I could possibly meet you?” He asked, and then, “Meet you and Alice?”
Hope looked over at the camp calendar that showed all the outings the camp would take during the six weeks. Sure enough, there was a town day coming up in two days. Hope told Henry this and they made plans to meet at a small coffee shop that Henry found through Google Maps.
“Do you know who she is, Henry? Do you know anything about what is going on?” Hope asked, her voice sounding really small.
Again, a resounding silence on Henry’s side. Hope could almost see him warring with himself whether to tell her anything or wait until he saw her in two days, and then she heard him sigh. The sigh she recognized as the Little Sister had won sigh.
“She’s your sister. You and Alice are twins.”

Epilogue

The Enchanted Forest. A Short Time Later. (Seated around a table in a tavern located in the real Enchanted forest, Xena and Gabrielle talk with Ruby and Mulan.) Ruby: "So, how're you guys finding the united realms?" Xena: "Well, it's very different to what we're used to." Gabrielle: "But a lot better than Jappa. Right, Xena?" Ruby: (Winces:) "Still kind of a sore spot for you two?" Xena: (Unconsciously rubbing a faded bruise on her arm:) "You could say that." Mulan: (Changing the subject, quickly:) "Have you decided where you're going to make your home yet?" Gabrielle: "Not yet. I think Xena and I are going to continue to travel around the realms for awhile. It was the thought of settling down somewhere that caused all the trouble to begin with." Xena: "That's not exactly true. All I said was, maybe we shouldn't spend our lives wandering around Greece and that we go far away, where no one knows us." Gabrielle: "Right, and then we were found by that messenger, which lead us on your little suicide mission. Trouble will find us wherever we go and whatever we do. I just prefer when we look for it together." (Ruby and Mulan exchange anxious looks as Xena and Gabrielle continue talking.) Xena: "You know if there was any other way, I would never have left you." Gabrielle: "Well, thanks to our new friends, we discovered that the world still needed Xena: Warrior Princess." Ruby: (Cutting in:) "A-and Gabrielle, the battling bard." Gabrielle: (Smiles:) "Thank you." Mulan: "So, if you're not settling down anytime soon, where are you likely to head next?" Xena: "As far as I've seen, the Enchanted Forest is most like back home for us." Gabrielle: "Which means we'll need to move on soon or Xena will get bored and try to kill herself again." Xena: (Purses her lips:) "You know, I really don't think you're being fair. It's not like- (Xena catches the glint in her wife's eye and realises Gabrielle is teasing her:) Oh, very funny. (Gabrielle starts laughing along with Mulan and Ruby:) Laugh it up. Go on, I deserve it." Ruby: (Laughing:) "You really kinda do, Xena." (They continue laughing with Xena even managing to crack a smile.) Mulan: (Stands:) "I think we should get going. We need to be at the coronation ceremony by noon." Ruby: "Right. (Stands:) Sorry, we need to go. Our friends are announcing the name of their baby and Snow will kill me if I miss another big moment." Gabrielle: "Oh, well it was great seeing you." Xena: "Yeah, we'll see you around sometime, huh? (Bidding their goodbyes, Ruby and Mulan leave the tavern while Xena and Gabrielle sit in awkward silence for a few moments:) Hey. We're going to be okay, right?" Gabrielle: (Smiles:) "We're going to be fine. Just don't ever try and leave me again." Xena: "Oh, I promise." Gabrielle: "Hm. So, a royal coronation?" Xena: "Yeah, sounds pretty excessive to me." Gabrielle: (Nods:) "Agreed." Xena: "But then it's not like the Amazons didn't find any excuse to have a party." Gabrielle: "Hey, those weren't parties, they were traditions." Xena: "Uh huh." Gabrielle: "Well, as long as they don't name their baby 'Hope' they should be fine." (There is a brief moments silence between them before both women begin laughing. Leaning in to kiss her wife, Xena is welcomed with open arms by Gabrielle.)

Wonderland. Palace Courtyard. (Ruby and Mulan arrive just in time to gather with other family and friends to hear the name of Emma & Regina's child.) Regina: (Her glass raised:) "Everyone, we'd like you all to meet our daughter: Maria." (The group burst into applause and raise their glasses to toast the new arrival while Regina and Emma stare lovingly at one another.) Henry: (Kisses Regina on the cheek:) "Congratulations. (Kisses Emma on the cheek and reaches for the baby:) Now, you two go and mingle with your guests while I spend some time with my baby sister." (Taking Maria into his arms, Henry walks over to sit with Ella and Tiana.) Ella: (Chuckling as the baby begins to cry:) "I'm pretty sure she wants her sister-in-law." Henry: (While Ella holds Maria, smiles:) "She's a smart girl." Tiana: "So, Henry, how does it feel being an older brother?" Henry: "It feels pretty great." Tiana: "And, er... how does it feel not being the Author anymore?" Henry: "Are you kidding? That was the best decision I ever made." Tiana: (Chuckles:) "How about you, Ella? How are your people finding being a part of the united realms?" Ella: "Oh, you know, it's an adjustment. I still don't think they know what to make of Richard as their King, but he's changed a lot. I know Roberta will make a great Queen, that's for sure." Tiana: "I was surprised after everything that you didn't want to take back the throne of Valencia yourself?" Ella: "Well, it wouldn't be fair to my people. Now that I'm in this world, I finally have a chance to find my mother. To let her know there's a cure for the Curse of the Wounded Heart and that we can be a family again." Tiana: "I’m so happy for you. Remember, if you ever need help navigating Wonderland, you know just who to ask." (Smiling, Tiana glances over at Will who stands with Robin and his sister Alice.)
Tumblr media
Elsewhere. (Will returns Tiana’s smile.) Will: "So, Dream World Robin Hood is settling in okay?" Robin: "Will, it's okay, I think we can just call him Robin Hood." Alice: "Thank goodness, cause that would be a bit of a mouthful. I'd probably end up calling him 'Drobin' or something." Robin: (Laughs:) "He's doing great. I haven't introduced him to Roland or the merry men yet though." Will: "Yeah, that's gonna be tough to explain." Robin: (Nods:) "It may be a little awkward for awhile, but I think the world is better off having Robin Hood in it. Even if he's not my dad." Will: (Handing them both glasses of champagne:) "I'll drink to that. (They drink:) Just as long as he doesn't beat me up like the last version did." (Laughing, Alice gives her brother a sympathetic hug.) Kingdom Of Valencia. (King Richard stands fixing a cabinet when Roberta enters.) Queen Roberta: "I have a little surprise for you, my love." King Richard: "Really?" Queen Roberta: "Mmhmm. Gareth's stood waiting outside with it." King Richard: "How I love you, my Queen." Queen Roberta: (They kiss:) "And I you, my King." Storybrooke. (Reunited once again, Belle extends her hand to Rumplestiltskin and they begin to dance to a familiar tune as baby Gideon sleeps soundly in his bed.)
Tumblr media
(Moving closer, they share a lingering kiss.) Kingdom Of Valencia. (Stepping outside, Richard can hardly believe his eyes when a burst of bright orange flame lights the sky.) Gareth: "For you, my King." Richard: "Oh my god. I have a dragon!" Arendelle. A Few Weeks Later. (Standing under a beautifully designed frozen archway, Hook and Maleficent are about to tie the knot.) Archie: “Are you ready to recite your vows?” Hook: “Mal, when we met, there was just one thing that mattered to me - getting my revenge. And you did something that no one else ever could. You showed me that a heart full of love was the most precious treasure of all, and one that I don't intend to lose. They say that a captain's heart belongs to his ship. And with this ring, it now belongs to you.” Maleficent: “Killian, I spent so much of my life on my own. And then, you walked into my life and everything changed. Despite years of separation, heartache and pain, we have found each other again. Our hearts may not be without darkness but together we have always managed to find the light. A light that I see shining every time I see our daughter’s smiling face. I never thought I would truly find my happy ending, but thanks to you, now I have.” Archie: “Do you, Killian, take this woman to be your wife and to love her for all eternity?” Hook: “I do.” Archie: “And do you, Maleficent, take this man to be your husband and love him for all eternity?” Maleficent: “I do.” Archie: “Then it is with great pleasure that I now pronounce you husband and wife.” (The congregation applauds as Killian and Maleficent kiss.)
Tumblr media
Emma: "I did not see this happening, did you?" Regina: "You mean after I trapped Maleficent in her dragon form for thirty years and you killing her with your father's sword? No, I can't say I did. But what's more amazing is that we were all invited to witness it." Emma: "I just think after everything that's happened, all the history between us and our families, everyone decided it was time to just let it-" Zelena: "Don't you dare." Emma: (Chuckles:) "Spoilsport." Regina: "I thought you were bringing someone?" Zelena: "I was... but we agreed to wait awhile before we took our relationship public." Regina: (Watches her sister closely before her eyes widen:) "You're not... You can't be dating-" Emma: "Surely not again?" Zelena: (With a twinkle in her eye:) "Third time's the charm." At The Altar. (Lily kisses both her parents in turn.) Lily: "I'm so happy for you two." Hook: "Thanks, love. I know it meant everything to your mum that you were here to give her away." Lily: (Smiling at Maleficent:) "I was honoured to do it. Now go, the dance floor is waiting for you." Maleficent: "Dance? I don't dance."

Storybrooke. Main Street. (Emma and Snow walk together along the street, Snow pushing Maria in the stroller.) Snow White: "This is all so surreal. Back when I was running for my life in the Enchanted Forest, I never thought in my wildest dreams this is how my life would turn out." Emma: (Laughing:) "Yeah, it’s pretty crazy. Emma: (Leaning in for a quick, chaste kiss:) "Mm. Good plan." Regina: (Running her hands through Emma's hair, pulling her closer:) "I thought you'd like it." hahaha no. i’m just rewatching ouat. august came back to town and i love him bc he was just so mysterious, secretive and you just had no fucking clue where he came from, what was his deal and how tf was he able to come into storybrooke. you find out later on that he’s pinocchio and was supposed to be a guardian to emma in this land without magic but he just ditched her and later regreted it. he looked over emma a few times and made sure she would break the curse. it’s really not as fucked up as henry’s family, let me tell you.
(henry’s adopted mom is the step-mother of snow white, his biological grandmother bc emma is the daughter of snow white and prince charming. henry’s father is the son of rumplestilskin baelfire who was send to the land without magic before everyone else and actually the reason rumplestilskin wanted for someone to make the curse in the first place, so that he could find his son. but neither neal or emma knew about the other so it was a shock when they found each other in nyc in s02 when emma, rumplestilskin and henry went there to find baelfire. august actually broke those two up so that emma could break the curse and baelfire/neal was sent a post card to be told the curse was broken. okay, so rumplestilskin’s wife ditched him when he cowardly injured himself to not fight ogres and she left him with baelfire. instead, she fell in love with killian jones/captain hook. she later died and killian and emma became an item. oh and rumplestilskin’s father is peter pan and his mother was a black fairy who stole rumplestilskin’s son with belle to raise as her own so that he would kill emma. And Regina’s mother is the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland and she had another daughter before Regina/the evil queen, who’s name is Zelena/The Wicked Witch of the West. Regina’s second true love was Robin Hood and at one time Zelena posed as Robin’s wife Marian and they had a baby together. Oh and in the Dream version of the fairy tales, Killian has a daughter with Gothel who’s been posing as Rapunzel and their daughter is Alice in Wonderland and she ends up with Robin/Zelena’s and Robin’s daughter. And Henry ends up marrying his own Cinderella and have a daughter Lucy who’s trying to break the curse of s07. Oh and the Lady Tremaine of s07 is also Rapunzel. There it is, the complicated family tree of Emma Swan and Henry Mills. I might be missing something...)

Character ask: Alice Jones?
who? | only know their name | loathe | ugh | overrated | indifferent | dead | alive | just okay | cute | badass | my baby | hot | want to marry | favorite
Tumblr media
I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER!!!
My baby, my Starfish, my love! It must be the Jones genes, I apparently can’t hate them - no, not you, Brennan, don’t even try.
She’s... wonderful. I’ve always been in love with Alice in Wonderland, and I loved OUAT in Wonderland so much I was a bit afraid about them bringing another version of it in season 7. How wrong I was!
Her past, her bond with her father, her cursed self, just her, I love her.
(Soooo repetitive lol)
There’s nothing I hate about her, honestly, aside from her egg donor, but you know, I do what I do with Henry and suddenly, she’s Emma’s daughter and I’m much more happy with that. Hell, she’s the perfect mix of Emma and Killian, and I honestly wanted her to be so. I don’t care if she isn’t, and I’m glad they didn’t go down the already seen route in which hated mother becomes loved mother by the abused kid. So. Glad. Me thinking she’s Emma’s daughter is also a way to cope with yet another male rape which consequences have not been faced - the fact that the (b)witch died doesn’t mean I’m over it. And it doesn’t diminish my love for Knightrook, if anything, it strengthens it.

Knight Rook: A History Day 3: New Quests, New Friends - Even More HC’s!
The time has come once again! Yesterday was hectic as fuck between running the event, my own reveal date for the Fall For CS project, and my mother’s birthday, so once more, we’re doing HC’s!
...While I really wanted to write some fics, this will probably be all week. That said, you guys seem to like them, so we’re all cool!
1. At some point, whether by letter or at a distance, but in person, Killian and Alice discuss how she tied Henry up that one night. Killian tries to play it off sternly, but he just ends up complimenting Alice on her cleverness and the two of them divulge into a fit of laughter.
2. Eudora tells Alice stories of what Tiana was like as a little girl one day, including how she used to play chef. This leads Alice to take another trip to Wonderland, but this time, she returns with exotic herbs and spices. She gives them to Tiana so she has something to help her relax when the pressures of being queen stress her out.
3. Killian and Alice switch off on going to royal parties. However, there’s a hill tall enough that it peeks above the walls of Tiana’s castle. During some of those parties, just before the sun sets, the one not at the party stands atop that hill and from a distance, they dance together.
4. Robin has to practically force Alice to stay in bed when she’s sick. From Alice’s point of view, she’s already missed out on so much and everyday she’s out there in the world is just one day that brings her closer to getting back to her Papa. Robin compromises by bringing her books about magic so that she can read and feel more productive, though after some cuddling, Alice ends up falling asleep anyway.
5. When Alice and Robin have their first sleepover, Robin learns that Alice snores. Alice spoons her, snuggling up against her and all seems quiet until a loud snore hits her eardrums. It’s more funny than annoying if Robin’s honest and she falls asleep soon enough to it, but in true Alice fashion, it makes the evening a surprise.
6. After Killian and Henry have their adventure on The Jolly Roger, Alice decides she wants to get in on the fun. She finds Smee and Smee takes her out on the ship. He starts out teaching her, but within the hour, she’s giving him orders. She’s a kinder captain than her father, but she has his energy in spades. Smee smiles, for it seems like the good days are back again.
7. Regina enchants mirrors for Killian so that he can on occasion talk with Alice. While sometimes, they’re all able to schedule it, sometimes, it’s a matter of them all being a the right place at the right time. More often than not, it actually doesn’t work out at all. Even so, Killian’s eternally grateful to Regina for it.
8. Killian teaches Robin some of Alice’s favorite songs so that she can sing them to her when Alice in in need of a pick-me-up. Robin gets laughs out of both of them by trying to pull off Killian’s accent. Alice tears up when she sings “She Moved Through the Fair.” Killian sung her dozens upon dozens of songs, but that one is easily the most special to her.
9. Alice acts as a surprisingly effective editor for Henry’s works. She asks questions that no one else would ask, allowing for Henry to think more about the emotions of his family members at various points in their stories rather than just the what of what happens. It allows for Henry’s work to be much more satisfying.
10. One Halloween, Killian and a bunch of the new crew visited Storybrooke so that Lucy could celebrate the holiday properly. There, Killian discovered the animated adaptation of the Peter Pan story and nearly lost all of the oxygen in his body sighing when he saw all of the kids dressed up as that version’s Captain Hook. His counterpart came by, gave him a hearty pat on the shoulder, and said “welcome to my world, mate.”

OUAT 2x13: Rewatch Blog
Here we are again - same fairytale time, same fairytale channel. This time around, we’ll be watching episode 2x13, which is called “Tiny” and is about the past (and present) adventures of the giant Anton from 2x06.
We also have lots of pain faces, limping, and general woundedness from Killian throughout the episode, so, you know, that’s gonna keep me busy.
At any rate, let’s get some snacks and get to it, shall we? :)
“...I’d be devastated.” Awww, Dave <3 Such honesty <3
This is the least fun-looking road trip to ever exist in any realm.
“You like the holster, huh?” YOU’RE NOT FOOLING ANYBODY, SNOW.
“And to be honest, Regina, I don’t think Emma has to run anything by you.” Umm. Excuse you? Pretty sure Regina is still his legal guardian in this realm, unless y’all been filing some court documents in her absence, which seems unlikely and also frowned upon in most societies. I have to admit, on this rewatch, this shit is rankling me even more than I remember.
And they don’t even take a moment to think, “Wow. That must have hurt for her to hear and have to kowtow to - that she doesn’t even rate high enough in her son’s life to have things run by her first.” They just shrug it off. “That went well.” “With her, it doesn’t get much better.” Wow. Callous.
Have to admit, this scene is not a good look for these two.
OH GOOD. It’s time for limpy, sassy, incorrigible Hook. Just the palate cleanser I needed after that last scene.
“I’m watching you, pirate.” WE KNOW, LEROY. WE SEE YOUR THIRST.
Tumblr media
Pictured Above: one thirsty-ass dwarf
We’re clocking it, Leroy. All 360 degrees of it, and counting.
Ahhhh, this whole scene and Colin’s pained delivery of every line. It’s like Christmas came early, in the form of a bruised and battered pirate <3
Oh no, it’s minor character flashbacks. I’m not going to care about most of this, am I? *sigh* Didn’t think so. I do like Jorge Garcia, though. He’s fun.
Hahahahaha... “Why do we keep growing them if nobody ever uses them?” *total silence* “...It’s what we do.” OH, OKAY, JAN.
LOL, Hook’s exit here will never not be hilarious. LOL, BYE SUCKERS.
Whoa, look at David fly!!! That was some punch.
Leroy whump. Man, Anton’s going to town on everybody.
Oh, so Belle is basically in the psych ward, drugged out of her head. Nice one, Storybrooke Hospital, but whyyyyyyyyyyyy.
“Did that giant just say he’ll make you pay?” Snow, that is hardly the most shocking thing about the encounter you all just had. Did you not see that EPIC punch that sent your husband literally FLYING through the air?
Ohhhh, it’s time for Dave in Leather Pants James.
Jack’s outfit is amaaaaazing, by the way.
UMMMM. Where did Leroy go? He was there literally a second ago. Did he just get bored and leave during Dave’s reverie??
Okay, I would be scared shitless if a giant eyeball was watching me in my windows like that. Thanks for the nightmare fodder, Once.
“I’m Anton. I’m a giant.” Awwwwwww. He’s adorable. Let’s keep him safe and warm and happy by getting him off this show immediately.
Nice Alice in Wonderland references, Jack, but you’re still full of shit.
And next we have “Air Travel with Immortal Imps” on The Travel Channel.
“I’m not gonna let that happen.” Umm. Did she (Could she??) even do anything to prevent it, though? Or was she just hoping for the best?
“GUYS, THERE’S A CINNABUNS HERE”
My new second favorite Abrupt Henry Line, just after “HEY, GUESS WHAT, TACO SHELLS ARE ON SALE.”
Seriously? That’s the best way to clandestinely indicate he wants Cora to meet with him? Like, she obviously has to be watching him to even see him drop the card. Couldn’t he just as easily say, “Cora, get over here.” or “Mommy, please?” or, you know, whatever their safeword is?
Too much? Not enough? Just right? I can’t even tell anymore.
I love how Regina appears here. It’s neat. “Hello, Hook.” *throws her ovaries at her* JUST TAKE THEM, WHY DON’T YOU.
“Expecting my mother? The one you were supposed to kill?” “Oh, that...” Hahahahaha :D
He might as well have said, “Oh, THAT mother. I thought, surely, you meant another one... Didn’t I kill her? It escapes my memory, but I could’ve sworn I killed one of your mothers... Was it the wrong one, love??”
“I’ve been tied up in bed - not in the good way.” I’ve always loved that line, of course, but that he says it to Regina, and in a way like she would understand what he means, makes it a million times better, doesn’t it? :D The first time I saw this episode, I was firmly on the HQ train... and now I am again, but with another version of Hook, but this is all “fresh” enough HQ that it can help inform us on the distant past of S7 HQ, as well ;)
In other words, they banged. They SO banged. With rope. It was good.
Poor Anton. Get out of the street, you adorable manchild.
Aw, geez. I mean, you guys could just be decent and let him give you treasures and... and... you’re not going to be decent at all, are you? T_T
Wicked Regina. I love wicked Regina :D
Watching Rumple fall apart without his magic is kinda powerful. Great acting by Bobby, of course. As always.
LMAO “She’s... kinda out of town?”
This bickering over David’s name is hilarious. I love it so much.
“Hold on, what the hell IS your name?!”
“What if I call you whatever I damn well please?!?!”
Why didn’t I even remember this scene?! THIS IS THE BEST DAMN SCENE.
I JUST WATCHED IT, LIKE, THREE TIMES IN A ROW.
Awww... This is all so sad. Alexa, play Despa-
Damn. I don’t have Alexa :/
Awww... That’s cute <3 Anton gets to be a dwarf <3
OMG GUYS, GREG SAW IT TOO. THIS IS SHOCKING. I AM SHOCKED.
Awww... This Snowing scene is so cute. Snow’s jacket is so cute. They’re so cute. <3
TERRIFIED MR. GOLD IS SO CUTE. Hahaha. He’s so fucking scared. I’m sorry, but it’s priceless and wonderful, lol.
Oh! That’s it! Show’s over! That was a quick one!
PEW PEW PEW PEW!!!

Imagine a Jones-Mills family trip to Disneyland (because they’re ironic like that). Rumple has Blessing in a carrier strapped to his chest. Killian has Desiree on his shoulders. Zelena is pouting because she drew the short straw and has to carry the diaper bag. Robin insists on riding the Alice in Wonderland ride several times.
This one is so long, it might as well just be a oneshot rather than a CA short! Haha! Again, so much fun writing this out! It was honestly just… Yeah, it was just awesome! Thanks for the idea, Anon!
The sun was shining brightly overhead, there was barely a breeze to cool them down as they walked, the smell of cotton candy and other sugary snacks filled their noses and made their mouths water, and almost everywhere they turned, there was a swell of screams and cheerful cries from all the people crowding onto the various rides and entertainment around them. It was busy, like it was every day of the year, and the small group shuffled closely together in order to avoid being lost in the crowds.
Sitting on her grandpa’s shoulders, Desirae sat open mouthed and wide eyed in awe of her colourful surroundings. She couldn’t look at all fast enough. Every time she looked in one direction, something new had appeared behind her and she rushed to look back again. She twisted and turned as much as she could, almost falling off several times, saved only by the light grip Killian kept on her ankles above her bright blue sandals. At one point she lay back against him, hanging upside down and letting her dark blue dress fall down, revealing a pair of pink frilly knickers underneath.
“Desirae! Stop that! Sit up right now!” Zelena said, putting a hand on the younger girls back and pushing her into sitting position, brushing the material of her dress back around Killian’s neck.
"She’s having fun, mum!” Robin laughed, glancing back at the three of them. “Don’t spoil it for her.”
“She can have fun without flashing her underwear to the world.” Zelena said strictly.
“You’re just bitter cause you pulled the short straw.” Killian smirked, raising an eyebrow at the children’s bags hanging off Zelena’s elbow. They held everything from a change of clothes, to spare diapers, to an incredible amount of sunscreen, to the endless bottles of juice and water to keep them hydrated. All of it would have her weighed down if not for the quick spell she had cast to make them as light as possible.
Zelena scowled at him but turned ahead and pouted slightly, saying nothing. It really was unfair if you asked her. Especially since Rumple wasn’t even biologically related to either of the girls. Yet he had been a second father to Alice for many years before and during the cursed years, and had been as big a part of Desirae and Blessing’s life as she was.
Not even the sight of Rumple could cheer her up about it. Although she had promised to take pictures for when she was in a better mood to tease him relentlessly once they got back home. After all, The Dark One in denim was nothing compared to The Dark One with a pink baby carrier strapped to his chest.
Blessing sat in said carrier, cradled against Rumple’s chest, her short blonde hair curled slightly at the end and bouncing with every step. Though unlike her sister, she seemed far more entertained with the way her feet hovered so far off the ground than the cheerful screams and flashing lights on every other side around her. In fact she barely glanced up at all, and even that was only when one of her mothers paused to move back towards her tickling her underarms and causing her to look up and squeal at them.
Striding in front of their daughters and parents, Alice and Robin were arm in arm, grinning from ear to ear as they looked at the amazing sights ahead. It was their first real holiday together, as a whole family, travelling somewhere completely new for once. It had taken them a while to agree on just where to go, but in the end, Disneyland won out. Because what better place to go, than where their stories were celebrated the most.
“So what next?” Alice asked loudly, not bothering to look back any more.
“Lunch!” Zelena suddenly cried, wincing at her next step. “I need to put my feet up already before they start bleeding out.”
“I told you to wear proper shoes!” Robin complained, pausing to look back at her. “I said we’d be walking all day!”
“Zelena’s stupid footwear aside,” Rumple said, leaning against a nearby sign. “She’s right. A break would be good. Not all of us are as young and fit as the two of you.”
“But the day’s still young! And we have so much left to do!” Alice gasped excitedly.
“We also have all weekend to do it,” Killian chuckled. “Come on, Starfish. We’ll take a lunch and then keep going until dinner.”
Alice felt her face drop but glanced towards Desirae and Blessing guiltily. They were both very distracted at that moment (Desirae by a nearby water ride and Blessing by someone’ puppy as it walked passed) but she knew it was probably best to get them something to eat and drink anyway. And somewhere shaded would be good too. Even though they both wore sunhats and even though they were layered in protective cream (and a few protective spells) it would be nice to hide the somewhere with air-con for a decent meal. As much as she wanted to do more today, she also knew being a parent meant sacrificing for your child’s best interest over your own selfish wants.
But then suddenly Robin was sliding an arm around her waist, pulling her close and grinning at the others. “Okay then, tell you what. You guys take the girls for lunch and rest your old aching feet. Meanwhile, Alice and I will go off for a few minutes of alone time.” She said cheerfully. “We’ll meet up after and continue the family fun together!”
“That works for me.” Rumple nodded, pushing away from the sign and stretching his arms slightly as Blessing wriggled in her carrier.
“What do you mean old?” Zelena demanded.
“Great!” Robin said, ignoring her mother. “Call us when you’re ready to meet back up!”
With that, she spun a squealing Alice around in a circle before pulling her off into the crowd. She already had the perfect place in mind where she wanted to take Alice. In fact she had wanted to take her there since they first entered the park early that morning. And now that they would be doing it alone, well, that just made it even better.
Meanwhile, Killian paused, watch the two of them disappear before looking at the other two, smiling and waving towards the buildings to their right. “Shall we?”
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
“So where are we going?” Alice asked, letting Robin lead the way since she clearly seemed to have a plan in mind, judging the way she was still pulling Alice along rather specifically.
“Somewhere special.” Robin grinned, looking up at a sign before tugging Alice aside, not giving her a chance to read any of it.
“You’re not going to tell me, are you.” Alice said, rolling her eyes.
“Just be quiet and enjoy the private moments we have together,” Robin said, pausing long enough to kiss the side of her mouth.
Alice smiled back at her. “I’m enjoying every moment. With you and with our family.” She sighed happily, leaning against Robin and shutting her eyes for a moment to enjoy the feeling in its entirety. “I never thought we’d reach this moment in our lives… It feels wonderful.”
Robin came to a sudden stop. “Wonderful. Huh. Interesting choice of words.”
Frowning, Alice opened her eyes and was immediately greeted with the sight of her smiling self beaming down at her. Or at least, the cartoon version of herself that this world had come up with for some bizarre reason. She stumbled back a step and looked up at the imagine, finally realising her cartoon picture was plastered on a poster that sat atop of a pink mushroom in front of Robin’s planned destination.
“You’re kidding…” Alice said, looking at Robin in a mixture of genuine surprise and slight horror.
However Robin was unaffected and just grinned back at her. “Well we’d better get in line!” She said, dragging Alice to where a crowd of people were already waiting to take their turn on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
“Oh it feels good to get off my feet!” Zelena gasped, sitting back and smiling as she pulled her shoes off, taking a quick bite from the sandwich she had brought for herself. “God, I wish Chad were here to give them a proper massage.”
Rumple cringed at the thought and turned his attention back to Blessing, making sure she was drinking all her juice. He had her balanced on one of his leg, the carrier now hanging off of one shoulder to allow some of the minor breeze they had to catch and cool his sweaty chest. He reached over, grabbing his own water and downing half of it without pause, his own sandwich barely touched at this point. Once again, he missed his magic and the ability to keep himself feeling fresh no matter how long he marched for.
“It’s a shame he couldn’t make it.” Killian nodded, once again doing his best to remain civil. He always had done, even before their daughters had fallen head over heels for one another.
“I know,” Zelena sighed sadly. “Next time, for sure.”
“Pan!” Rae suddenly gasped, grabbing onto Killian’s top to pull herself clumsily onto her feet, standing on his leg and leaning against him for support. “PAN!” She cried.
“What?” Zelena frowned at the young girl.
“PAN!” Rae shouted, pointing hard at something behind her.
“Did someone say Pan?!” A new voice shouted out.
Suddenly all the others sitting at the outside tables looked up. Several children cheered and squealed, jumping up and crying out like Desirae as they pointed over towards the figure who ran towards them, followed by several other excited audience members. It was a grown man dressed in green tights, with red hair and a green hat sitting on top. He danced towards them with a big smile and came to a stop right beside Rae’s table, leaning towards her.
“Hey there, everyone!” He called happily.
“Oh God,” Rumple mumbled, purposely turning himself and Blessing away, glad that Blessing had no interested in the actor dancing around them.
“Pan!” Rae beamed happily, reaching for him.
“That’s right! I’m Peter Pan!” The man beamed, standing back and putting his hands on his hips. “What’s your name? Are you a Lost Girl?”
“No, she’s not.” Zelena said, also turning her body away, hoping he would get the hint and leave them.
   He did not.
“Uh, oh. Someone’s grumpy.” The man playing Peter said, leaning towards where Rae was beaming up at him and where Killian was attempting to lean away - and would have, if not for the back of the chair preventing him from doing so. “But that’s okay, I know what’ll make her feel better. A story! Stories make everything better! Do you have any stories?” He asked with an eagerness that was eerily convincing.
Rae hesitated, putting a finger between her teeth before she shook her head, smiling shyly at him.
“You don’t? Oh man. I love stories!” Peter said, looking towards some of the other people sitting close by, including a pair of young teenagers taking pictures of him. “Do any of you knows any stories?”
“Yeah…” One of the girls giggled nervously.
“Well let’s hear it!” Peter said, leaping over the gate and stealing a seat, sitting beside Killian and Rae - far too close for Killian’s liking. “Tell us a story!”
“What is happening?” Killian hissed, leaning towards Rumple with a look of confusion and awkward terror.
“An actor. Playing the part of Peter Pan.” Rumple cringed. “Or at least, this worlds version of it.”
“Are you ready for the story, Lost Girl?” Peter asked Rae.
“Yeah!” Rae shouted, just as loud as the crowd around them.
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
Sitting side by side in a cosy yellow cart with the cartoon caterpillar head at the front, the girls had chosen to settle at the back, and out of everyone else’s way. After they had started and disappeared into the first dark tunnel, it was easy for Alice and Robin to get a little lost with each other. Especially as they started out staring at one another, grinning it cheerful and reluctant excitement for what was to come. In fact, what started out as a friendly ‘are you ready for this’ kiss, quickly turned into a passionate make out session that lasted the whole of the ride, until they were broken apart by the flash of lights from the exit and the crowds watching closely while waiting for their turn.
“Wow, that was fun!” Alice grinned suggestively, climbing from the ride and reaching to pull Robin out with her. “But we better go find papa and the others now.”
“Oh no!” Robin said, grabbing Alice’s hand and dragging her to the back of the line. “We’re riding that again.” She looked at her. “Properly this time!”
Remembering fondly how their last ride in the dark tunnels had gone, Alice allowed herself be dragged along with little resistance. “Fine by me.” She grinned, winking at her as they took their place and waited together.
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
“That was a great story!” Peter shouted, jumping up and clapping excitedly in Killian’s ear, grinning when Rae joined in with him. Even Blessing finally looked up towards him, only to grow bored almost immediately and leaned back against Rumple, eyes growing heavy.
“Ugh, can you go away now?” Zelena grumbled.
Peter, finally seeming to get the hint, gave an extravagant bow to her and the other tables. “If you say so. I better go find Tink! We’ve got some more adventures to have.” He jumped back over the gate, pausing to wave at Rae. “Bye, bye, Lost Girl!”
“Bye bye!” Rae shouted, waving her free hand at him while the other continued to cling to Killian.
“Thank God,” Rumple breathed, turning back around again and twisting Blessing in his arms until she was comfortable.
“You can say that again. Now let’s get out of here already. It’s about time we met the girls before that idiotic man child comes back.” Zelena said, collecting the bags back into her arms.
Unfortunately it seemed they spoke too soon. Suddenly another voice shouted over the crowd and drew the attention of everyone (Rae included) back to them.
   “BOY!”
“Uh oh!” Peter gasped, looking towards the boys and girls over the gate. “I think I hear a pirate!”
Suddenly all the kids were shouting and booing. They jumped from their seats and began clambering against the gate, cheering and talking over one another with Zelena, Killian and Rumple stuck between them. Even if they wanted to stand and get away, they wouldn’t be able to easily and not while Rae continued to squeal and bounce, leaning as far as she could in Killian’s arms and pointing along with the rest of them at the shape that had called out to Peter.
And then a man was stepping forward. Or at least, someone dressed as man. Unlike Peter, this actor wore a mask that included comically enlarged facial features, including a fat nose on top of a long thin moustached that was upturned on either side, over the top of a large toothy grin. He had long black curled hair and wore a purple fancy hat with a thick white feather to match the long red coat with a white frilled shirt underneath. He strode forward in a pair of pink and white leggings with a hand on his fake sword and the other arm held up above him, revealing a long silver hook on the end.
“No…” Killian said quietly in disbelief.
“On second thought…” Zelena said, sitting back and smiling. “I think we’ll stay a little longer after all.”
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
   “Alice,” Robin breathed. “Pay attention.”
“I am.” Alice said, leaning over and kissing her again. “I’m giving you all my attention.”
Robin pulled her close then twisted her around suddenly so she was facing away from her, breaking their kiss and wrapping her arms around her chest and arms to keep the other girl pinned and prevent her from twisting around to face Robin one more. As much as Robin loved their private moments in the dark like this, she also brought Alice on this ride for a reason and she was going to sit through it no matter what.
“I hated the film,” Alice grumbled, scowling at the white rabbit chanting in front of her. “Why should I enjoy the ride?”
“Cause you’re on it with me.” Robin grinned, kissing the back of her neck.
Alice smiled. “Well… That is a perk.” She leaned back in Robin’s arms, barely paying attention to the animatronics that quoted the cartoon to them. In her mind, that was Robin’s fault. If she wanted Alice to focus on the ride, she shouldn’t be holding her as close as she was.
They both slouched down together, riding along the tunnels and through the various story scenes of the film. When they momentarily slid back outside, they paused to share a grin between them just before entering the second part of the ride.
“See?” Robin laughed as they neared the end.
“Okay. I’ll admit. The stories a little more fun in the ride version.” Alice nodded, pecking her cheek. “But I think our first ride through was still the best.”
As they came to a stop and climbed from the cart for a second time, Robin took Alice’s hand and began to head in direction of where most of the restaurants were located. They both knew they had to meet with the others eventually and there was no doubt they would all still be somewhere they could sit and rest. After all, they would need all the rest they could get for today.
And then suddenly Robin felt herself being pulled to a stop. She looked back and saw Alice smiling at her, biting the corner of her lip. “You… Maybe want to go again?”

“No…” Killian groaned, looking around but both Zelena and Rumple had gotten quite comfortable now.
“Sit back and enjoy the show, Hook.” Rumple smirked, Blessing having now fallen asleep curled up slightly in his arms, oblivious to everything happening around her.
“HOOK!” Rae gasped, looking from Killian and towards the actor and back again. “HOOK!” She gasped excitedly, pointing towards the actor while staring at her grandpa. “HOOK!”
“Think she recognises you.” Zelena smirked.
“Shut up.” Killian moaned, trying to sit Rae down in his lap, but she was more excited seeing Captain Hook than she had Peter Pan and refused to let herself be settled.
The two actors had begun to walk around one another. Hook said very little as he waved his sword at Peter who mocked and giggled at him, jumping around and running in circles like it was a game of tag. Every now and then he jumped the gate and ran among the children with Hook pretending to try and chase after him while unable to actually follow and every time he did, the three actual fairy tale characters got a lovely view of his ridiculous head, including the enlarged cheeks and chin that went with the nose and smile.
“Can we go now?” Killian asked, trying to sound more bored, like he didn’t care which way or the other.
“And abandon the show?” Zelena cackled. “I think not!”
“Let’s leave it to Desirae to decide,” Rumple said confidently, leaning forward, being careful not to jostle where Blessing had turned and curled against his chest now. Not that he needed to try so hard, it seemed the young girl was completely undisturbed by the cries of many people still shouting around her. “Rae? Rae? Do you want to go now? Or do you want to watch Peter Pan and Captain Hook?”
“HOOK!” Rae cried, pointing and bouncing on her feet still. “HOOK!”
“That decides it,” Rumple said, leaning back and smiling at his old enemy/new friend.
“I hate you both.” Killian mumbled, slouching down in his seat while keeping his hands on Rae’s hips. He had to be careful to keep her from falling as she continued to bouncing up and down on his leg.
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
“Okay, we should really head back now.” Alice giggled, walking for the excit, back alongside the crowd of people still waiting to have their turn.
“We should.” Robin agreed firmly. Then added with a devious smile; “Or… We could have one more ride.”
“Really?” Alice laughed. “Come on. Even I’m getting bored of it now.”
“Yeah but think of it this way,” Robin said, pulling her forcefully to the back of the line once again. “We started this ride with a kiss… Shouldn’t we end it that way as well?”
Alice pretended to pause and think it over. “Well, that sounds fair to me!”
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
“How long are they going to do this?” Killian hissed.
“For as long as it entertains.” Rumple shrugged, looking towards the kids and teens still laughing around them.
“Yeah, well, I’m going to get us some more drinks,” Zelena said, standing and wedging her way through the crowd, pausing to pat Killian’s shoulder and wink down at him. “Don’t go anywhere.”
Killian lashed out a hand, grabbing her wrist tightly. “You are not leaving me here!”
“Well you can’t come. Rae’s enjoying herself so you have to stay for her sake.” Zelena said, pulling her arm free. “Have fun, Captain.”
Rumple chuckled, watching Zelena disappear into the crowd. Then turned as he caught Killian glaring at him. “What?” He asked.
“You’re not going anywhere.” Killian warned, then added quickly. “Don’t forget, if you move, you’ll disturb Blessing.”
“Oh no worries there.” Rumple said, putting his feet on Zelena’s recently vacated chair, smiling as he looked back towards the show just as Hook bent over and had his backside kicked by Peter, sending him toppling to the ground. “I don’t plan on going anywhere.”
Killian was suddenly regretting the idea of keeping Rumple around and groaned loudly, watching his cartoon self struggle to scramble back onto his feet and those ridiculous looking shoes. Rae couldn’t stop laughing and more than once pointed at Killian and pointed back again, as if reminding him again and again that, yes, that was supposed to be him.
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
“Okay, now we should head back.” Alice sighed sadly.
“Are you kidding? They made us sit up front this time. We couldn’t finish how we started we everyone able to watch us.” Robin argued grumpily.
“Robin, enough, okay? If I have to see those stupid things again or hear any of their high squeaky voices, I’m going to lose my mind.” Alice said sharply, rubbing her temple at the very idea of passing through those damn tunnels once more.
“You won’t hear them. Not if I’m doing it right.” Robin said quickly.
Alice ignored her attempts to flirt and kept walking. Or rather, she tried to keep walking. She didn’t get very far when suddenly Robin reached down, picking her up off her feet and physically carrying her to the back of the line.
“ROBIN!” Alice yelped, kicking her legs out.
   “One more time!” Robin promised.
Once*Upon*A*Time*At*Disneyland
   “Finally!”
A few parents shot Killian a dirty look but he ignored them. He didn’t care if he sounded like a miserable old bugger. Seeing his cartoon self run off like a coward when Peter got all the audience to start making ticking sounds like a clock, was both a great insult and an even greater relief. Killian was an inch away from carrying Rae off mid performance, even if she hated him for it, while Rumple had never looked like he was enjoying himself more. Even now, he was still grinning at the (real) pirate with a smugness that wasn’t going to be wiped away easily.
“Can we go now?” Killian growled as the crowd around them thinned out and everyone returned to their seats to finish their lunches.
“Yeah, the fun’s over now.” Rumple said, standing and shuffling Blessing in his arms. She whimpered and her little blue eyes blinked open staring up at the shocked expression on the older man’s face. “That’s what wakes you?” He blinked.
As if she even understood him, Blessing smiled slightly - a smile that matched her mothers cheeky side - before shutting her eyes and cuddling back up against him. Rumple shook his head at her before turning and heading back inside the restaurant, followed by Killian where he had settled his granddaughter back on his shoulders, ignoring her restless fidgeting. While he knew she was eager to be released on her own two wobbly feet, there was no way he was going to risk letting her get lost in this crowd.
As they made their way through the main restaurant and for the exit, they kept an eye out for Zelena but she was nowhere around. At least not until they found their way out of the building and back into the main area of the park.
“I thought you were just getting drinks?” Killian demanded when he caught sight of Zelena, hovering across from the exit, waiting patiently for them.
“Guess I forgot.” Zelena shrugged innocently. “So did you enjoy the show?”
Scowling at her, Killian stormed passed, letting Rumple come to a pause behind him, still smiling at his back. “Oh he loved it.” He said loudly, then glanced at Zelena and lowered his voice so Killian could no longer hear. “I think we’re gonna need to ask for a special request for Captain Hook to come see Desirae, don’t you think?”
Zelena smirked back. “Even without your magic, you are still the Dark One.”
“What are you two whispering about back there?” Killian snapped, looking over his shoulder at them.
“Oh nothing!” Zelena sang, walking over and reaching up. “Now give Rae here. It’s your turn to carry the bags.”
Killian side stepped away from her. “After what I just sat through? I don’t think so.” He walked around her, heading off with Rae falling back to hang upside down behind him again, giggling and waving to her grandma.
   “Hey! Over here!”
Alice and Robin caught sight of Rae’s flashing knickers before they saw the faces of the others. They hurried over, both looking very pink in the face and grinning with deep matching breaths.
“You two look like you had fun,” Zelena said, pushing aside her irritation at still being stuck with the bags. “How many rides did you get on in the end?”
“Oh… Not many actually.” Robin shrugged.
“Just the one really.” Alice admitted.
“Just one? Was the line that long?” Zelena blinked. Well, all the lines were long but she had discovered that the park was actually quite good at getting everyone moving at a brisk pace so as to give everyone a chance.
“… Yeah. Let’s go with that.” Robin nodded, ignoring the puzzled look her mother gave her.
Quick to change the subject, Alice looked between her daughters. “Aw, is someone tuckered out?” Alice asked, walking over to Rumple and brushing some strands of blonde hair to the side of Blessing’s head, kissing her sleeping forehead softly.
“Yeah, she fell asleep near the start of the show.” Rumple nodded.
   “Show? What show?” Alice asked.
“Forget about it!” Killian said quickly before anyone else could answer. “Now are we going to go on some more rides today or not?”
The girls looked questioningly towards Rumple and Zelena for answers, both of whom were smirking to themselves and each other. It was obvious something had happened while they were gone, but neither had any idea what could pull such mixed reactions from the three of them.
“We’ll tell you later.” Rumple promised.
“We’ll show you if we can.” Zelena grinned, then looked at the girls. “Seriously you are both still very red. Lemme guess, roller-coaster?”
“Uh- yup! That’s right!” Robin nodded. “Very exciting! So much fun! Couldn’t get enough of it.” She looked at Alice and shared a secret knowing smile. “Definitely do it again some time.”
Alice grinned back, reaching over and entwining their fingers together as they began following Killian across the park. “Sometime soon.”
As oblivious as ever Zelena shrugged and walked beside them. “Well, we have all weekend for you two do it again. But for now, Rumple, give me my granddaughter! Now! Grandma Zee wants time with her precious Blessing as well, so hand her over!”

Season 7 Characters
I am a good bit of the way through season 7 now, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on the characters. Overall, there’s no character I outwardly dislike (except Gothel but I’m meant to dislike her), but I only really like two characters, Drizella and Robin. As in, these are the only two characters who engage me on an emotional level. Everyone else is just sort of..... there. I am leaving out Rumple, Regina and Zelena because I’m lazy as fuck I have made my opinions known about them already and nothing as really changed. I am also not doing Naveen/Drew or Anastasia because as much as I like them.... they barely qualify for characters.
Anyway, if that didn’t put you of, then let’s-a go!
Drizella Tremaine/Ivy Belfrey- Oh my precious, crazy Drizella, you stole my heart in episode 6 (Wake Up Call) and have kept it. I think the main reason she is so sympathetic is because she has a relatable backstory-I’m sure a good number of people in the audience can relate to the frustration of being the second favourite child and living in the shadow of an older sibling. And Adelaide plays her so amazingly, small upset, dejected looks at her mother’s indifference to her in Hyperion Heights so that you can’t help but be on her side, even when I learn she is evil I still sort of rooted for her to make her mother regret what she did. Even after she drugs Ana, her tearful “I don’t want to die” made my heart ache for her. Wrong decision, completely wrong decision, but I can so, so get where she is coming from with it. I like how her arc centered on family and making amends with her sister. And then her redemption came and sent such a compelling character to hell with “well you ended up not hurting your sister for your own gain so good for you, don’t worry about us,your victims,  just go live your life.” Oh Drizzy, I wish I could have given you the redemption you so richly deserved. I also would have liked less focus on Henry, because their relationship felt sort of random. And more exploration of her relationship with Ella.
Robin Hood-Mills/Margot- I’m so happy with how they used Robin. I find her such an interesting blend of the LWM and the Enchanted Forest, like watching her use the word “jerkwad” to a troll hunting mob in the Enchanted Forest. And I find her to be the most realistic character; her struggle with finding herself and her identity, the contrast between the “popular girl” she was in high school which just gave her a superficial happiness, and then finding her true calling as Robin Hood, doing something worthwhile, was so nice to watch. I cheered when she picked up that bow! And same in Hyperion Heights, Margot’s conflict with her mother is something very realistic, they never communicated enough. I also like her sense of humour a lot. And how she stands up for her beliefs and fights for the little guy-or girl, Alice, in her case-like a real Robin Hood. However, I don’t like how most of her main development took place in flashbacks, an issue I have with most characters. And I do find her present day character to be a bit... two dimensional. But hey, I have more episodes to go, so I could be wrong. I’d like to see more of her as a character, but from what I have seen I feel like she mainly exists as Alice’s love interest.
After this I think my reviews/analysis/whatever we’re calling this post are going to be less in-depth because Drizzy and Robin are the only two I really care for.
Rapunzel Tremaine/Victoria Belfrey- Well damn if season 7 did one thing, it was make a sympathetic villain with Victoria. I did find her a bit “knock off Evil Queen” until her backstory was revealed in 7x09. The whole theme of that episode was Punzy’s love for her family and even as a villain she is still doing everything because she loves Ana. My favourite kind of villains always have a sort of code or justification that makes them think they’re in the right. In a way, she reminds me of s1 Rumple, who kept his love for his son, but was still corrupted and evil with it. A moment for her that sticks out a lot is when Gothel has kidnapped and bound her and yet her concern is still for Ana, the first thing she does when she sees her is ask her if she is okay. That right there is some complex characterisation; she’s evil but with a tiny nugget of goodness left inside her. Now her redemption is where she falls down; she starts to realise that she should have focussed more on Drizella and less on the deceased Ana, which was good, and she saved Drizzy at the cost of her own life, but like I said before, Drizella was one out of many victims who never got any closure, most importantly Ella.
Lucy Mills- I do think Lucy is a lot like her father and that’s why I like her so much; her belief, her drive, and her sass. She isn’t really the most complex character there is, btu she’s just so loveable. She sees the best in everyone, even Tremaine (even if I sideeyed that part because come on bb). I don’t know what else to say about her; I can’t really say I love her development because imo, there is not much development to love, but who doesn’t love a funny, heart of gold munchkin running around believing in people all the time?
Tiana/Sabine-Well she’s... a good person. I like her development in becoming “her own knight in shining armour”. But like..... That’s sort of all their is to her. I do like her, she’s cute, her relationship with Naveen is adorable. She’ confident and strong but.... there isn’t a whole load of depth to her. Or maybe there is and I just forgot. I would say “I can’t believe ouat messed up the Princess and the Frog” but... it’s OUAT. She seems to fulfil the role of “supportive best friend” more than she does her own character arc.
Ella Mills/Jacinda-Okay for one thing-Dania does not deserve the hate she gets. She is a fine actress. Leave her alone demons. That said, she’s kind of like Tiana for me. Yeah she’s a good person but there’s not much depth to her. I feel like her lack of a backstory is bad for her because it makes it hard to sympathise with her. Sure we know she had a hard life but we don’t see it. I like her more in HH funnily enough, despite overall preferring the EF flashbacks. Watching her fight for Lucy is pretty cool to watch. The narrative fucks her over a lot, especially when t comes to Tremaine and how she did not once factor into her redemption arc despite being hurt severely by her.
Wish Hook/Detective Rogers- Sigh. Like Ella and Tiana, he’s a good person who deserves a happy ending, but that’s really all there is. He gets a little bit of complexity in 7x13 and 7x16 (I think), which is nice. They did skip over his redemption arc, which works for story purposes, but part of what I loved about Killian was his redemption arc. My favourite moments of his were him showing how much he had changed so WHook doesn’t fit that for me. I sort of see him as fundamentally the original character but less-less flawed, less self loathing, less redemption arc (that’s not grammatically correct but let’s move on). They also seem to have taken away the cheeky and sarcastic humour, which may make him more appealing to some people but I miss it. Objectively he’s pretty unproblematic, which I think in a way makes him boring, but undeserving of all the hate the CS fandom throws his way. He also gets manipulated and used a lot, which does make me feel sympathy for him. His scenes with Alice, young Alice in particular, are cute. And I do like that he stopped drinking. He’s a good man who deserves happiness probably more than anyone else, but kind of a watered down version of OG Killian. Don’t get me wrong, I tried really hard to love him but... I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Who knows, maybe at the end of the day, I did jsut see Killian as a prop for Emma, which is why I feel little attachment to a version that isn’t with her.
Henry Mills Swan- Henry is one of my favourite original show characters, so what drew me to this season was a grown up Henry. I am glad that despite being an adult, we still have that cute nerdy wide eyed dreamer of a kid. He does some things and I just think “that is so freaking Henry” like his fist pumping and Star Wars references and using his lunchbox as a weapon. And a lot of his child personality is still there, still an optimist who believes in people, but I feel like he’s matured a bit now. At the same time, he wants to be like the kind of heroes he read about and grew up with. He wants to give Ella a special ring like his grandparents had. I’ll admit there re bits where I don’t feel that he is Henry, but I think that’s because there is such a big jump between Gilmore!Henry and West!Henry.
Alice Jones/Tilly- I went in expecting Tilly to become my favourite, which is weird now because I am fairly neutral on her. I find it interesting the way she sometimes acts like an overgrown child because I think it is a way of showing how emotionally stunted she is, which is pretty neat. She is definitely very cute and makes an eccentric, bouncy kind of Alice, which is what I do think of when I think “Alice In Wonderland” (although my Alice knowledge is limited to the animated film and the Tim Burton one so I may not be very knowledgeable in that respect). I like her dynamic with Robin a lot. She isn’t really that well developed but she is fun to watch. I also wonder sometimes if her eccentricity and “strangeness” for a lack of better word is just her hiding how upset she is. I don’t really have anything else to say about her.
Gothel-To be honest, Gothel seems fairly one dimensional. There is very little to her. She wants to kill everyone because people killed her family. I feel like the writers have kept trying to make villains “bigger and badder” since s5 and then Gothel was just overkill. She has pretty much 0 redeeming qualities, which is cool, she’s the bad guy, but I don’t know, I think it just comes off as pretty shallow. Maybe a “she was always evil” story a la Cruella de Vil would have worked better? I will give it to them that she is very very creepy sometimes.
Dr Facilier/Samdi-I love how on the one hand, he is so, so like his animated counterpart but with enough uniqueness to stand apart. Daniel plays him so amazingly, his movements are so fluid, he’s charming but there’s a danger to him. He is a slimy little bastard (kinda like a... frog. See what I did there?). He intrigues me but I don’t see much to him. But he does remind me of s1 Rumple with his deals and general tomfoolery. I’ll come back to this section ocne I have watched more of s7, but for now my general perception is that he is fun to watch but I don’t see much below the surface.

It’s Chaos, Be Kind (1/1)
Summary: Post 7x08, Wish Hook and Henry (Captain Cobra v.2) have an evening out. 2700 words, Rated G.
The title of this fic is from Patton Oswalt’s Annihilation, and was apparently the motto of his late first wife. I don’t know how the concept ended up in this fic, but it did.
This fic is for @justanotherwannabeclassic , who wrote a prompt on her blog for something involving Henry getting to know this other version of Killian, and struggling with the fact that he’s a different man.
Taking a deep breath, Henry shifted the entrance flap aside and stepped into the tent. Hook was sitting up on the bed, looking a little less terrible than the last time Henry had seen him.
“Hey,” he said, consciously keeping his distance from the other man. It was still a strange experience, looking at Hook’s familiar face and having to remind himself that this wasn’t the man he knew. Maybe his experience with Regina dividing into two people should have prepared him for this, but that was different. Both versions of his mother had been exactly that: his mother. This man was still essentially a stranger. “How are you feeling?” Henry asked, clasping his hands behind his back to give them something to do.
“I’m all right, lad. Thank you.” With a visible effort, he pulled himself to his feet. “What can I do for you?”
“I was wondering if you wanted to… I mean, I know you don’t drink, but… I don’t know, go into town and… do something?” He shrugged, feeling all kinds of awkward.
Hook raised an eyebrow. “Do something?”
“Yeah. Find a tavern, get some decent food for a change.”
“Seems risky for you to show your face in town, Henry. Lady Tremaine’s soldiers are still looking for you.”
Henry pulled the hood of his cloak up to hide his face. “It’ll be fine. I’m sure you can find a place down by the docks frequented by people who’ll mind their own business, right?”
Hook chuckled. “Aye, I suppose I can.” He seemed to reach an internal conclusion and nodded. “All right, then. Let’s go.”
The ride to the shore via well-hidden forest trails was quiet, as the two men focused on their horses’ footing in the dim light of evening. Hook seemed to know exactly where to go once they arrived at the docks, not hesitating as he dismounted at the hitching post of what appeared to be the Platonic ideal of a seedy, dockside tavern. Henry followed his lead, hitching his horse to the post and tipping a few coppers to the boy who was charged with watching the patrons’ horses.
Keeping his hood up and head down as they walked in, Henry got the impression of a crowded, dank room that stank of stale beer and sweat and tallow candles. The wood under his feet was well worn, and he trained his eyes on the pointy-toed boots of the pirate in his company as he followed Hook to a table in a poorly lit corner of the room. Once seated, Henry took the chance to lower his hood, figuring that keeping his head covered would be more suspicious than just revealing his face. He’d have to hope that no one here was working for Lady Tremaine. By the looks of the dirty sailors who made up the clientele, that was a fairly safe bet.
A bored barmaid worked her way over to their table. Henry ordered an ale and a meat pie, hoping that the meat in it would be marginally edible. Hook ordered the same meat pie but asked for a cup of tea instead of ale. The barmaid gave him a confused look, but she sauntered off without a comment.
Henry suddenly felt guilty for bringing him here. “I’m sorry, Hook,” he said. “I probably should have come up with a better idea than bringing you to a booze-soaked tavern.”
Hook gave him a tight smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “Don’t worry, lad, I won’t fall off the wagon just because another man is drinking in my line of sight.”
Not reassured, Henry shrugged. “Still. It’s too bad coffee shops and juice bars haven’t caught on here yet.” The confused frown that appeared on Hook’s face was terribly familiar, a look that his stepfather must’ve given him a thousand times over pop culture references that Killian didn’t understand. It made Henry’s heart constrict to see it. “Never mind,” he said quietly. “Anyway, thanks for coming with me, Hook. I felt like I needed some time away from the camp to think.”
“You can call me Killian,” Hook said. “If you prefer.”
Henry’s heart sank a little. “I… don’t know if I can, actually,” he replied with a wince. “After mom and… the other you got married, I mostly called him Killian. It’s just easier to call you something different. I hope that’s okay. If ‘Hook’ bothers you, I can--”
“No, it’s fine. I understand. I’m a poor substitute for your stepfather, I’m sure.”
“It’s not that,” Henry said, guilt making him want to sink into the floor.
Silence settled, and eventually, the barmaid appeared with their meat pies and drinks. Henry took a grateful pull from his ale, which was better than anything they had to drink back at the rebel camp. The meat pie, on the other hand…
“This is awful,” Hook said, appearing to struggle to swallow the bite he had taken.
“Yeah. Sorry. Wow, I’m just batting a thousand today.”
There was that confused look again. “Batting what?”
Henry again wished for the floor to open up underneath him. “Sorry. It doesn’t matter.”
“All right.”
“You probably regret coming on this adventure with me,” Henry said, grimacing. “I’m aware that Emma put you in a position where you couldn’t really say no.”
The confusion only deepened. “Are you joking? I got to see my daughter again. Even if it was only for a moment, I know now that she’s all right. I couldn’t be more grateful for that.”
Henry’s curiosity about Alice’s origins resurfaced. He settled back against the wall, keeping his face out of the lantern light. “So, you raised Alice alone?”
“Aye. Her mother… abandoned her. If I hadn’t been there for her, no one would have.” He took a sip of his tea. “Giving up my ship to stay behind with Alice when she was an infant was the only choice I could have made. I’ve never regretted it.”
Henry had pieced some of the story together, mostly from what Regina had told him when he and Ella returned from Wonderland. “And she couldn’t leave that tower? How did you manage it? How did you feed her and get clothes for her?”
Wiping his hand over his face, Hook hesitated before answering, and Henry wondered if his questions were too personal. “I made quick trips into town when I had to, although I was loathe to leave her alone. I paid some of the merchants to make deliveries when I could.” He shrugged. “I just… made do.”
Henry’s thoughts went to his stepfather, and how much he valued his relationships with so many people in Storybrooke, from Snow and David to Granny to their own version of Cinderella, and how he seemed to collect allies across the realms who found excuses to visit him or in Ariel’s case, call him on that ridiculous seashell. “That must have been very lonely.”
“It was, but what choice did I have? She’s my daughter,” he said as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
Henry gave him an affectionate smile. “Every version of you is a good father, I guess.”
Hook seemed surprised at that. “Do you think of him that way? As your father?”
Shrugging, Henry shifting in his seat. “I only knew my real dad for a short time before he died, while Killian was in my life from the time I was around twelve. And he was married to my mom -- my other mom, Emma,” he added unnecessarily, “for most of my teen years. So yeah, I guess I think of him as my dad more than I do my biological father by this point.” A thought struck him, and Henry set his ale down with a thunk. “You don’t know who my father was, do you?”
He got an impassive look from Hook in response. “Should I?”
“It was Baelfire. Milah’s son. Milah was my grandmother.”
The shock on the other man’s face was palpable. “My Milah?”
“Yeah. My mom met Baelfire -- he went by Neal at that time -- in the world without magic, which she ended up in because of Regina’s curse. She didn’t know who he was… well, she didn’t know who she was either since she’d been separated from her parents as a baby. It was only much later that she learned he was Rumpelstiltskin’s son.” Hook still looked shocked, and so Henry continued to ramble to fill the silence. “So, yeah, the other you ended up helping to raise Milah’s grandson, which is sort of poetic when you think about it.”
Hook cleared his throat. “Your family tree is complex.” His words were impassive, but Henry could still hear the emotion in his voice at the revelation of Henry’s parentage.
Laughing, he picked up his ale. “Yeah, no kidding.”
“And the other me… was a good father? Or, stepfather?”
“Oh yeah. I mean, we had some tough times, and I wasn’t always easy on him.” Henry grimaced. “Come to think of it, I could be a real asshole when I wanted to be.”
“That is the purview of teenagers, oftentimes,” Hook said.
“Yeah. But in spite of my attitude, he was… he was great. I was lucky to have him in my life. I’m not sure I appreciated it enough when I was growing up, but… now I miss him.” He looked down at his unappetizing dinner, pushing it away. “He was a good person to talk to, particularly when I was having romantic problems.”
Hook narrowed his eyes knowingly. “Is that the reason for this little outing tonight? Are you having romantic problems?”
“Not problems, just… there’s a lot happening, and I thought…” He sighed. “Killian used to know just what to say, and I thought maybe you…”
“Would prove to be an adequate substitute?”
“Okay, well, that makes it sound like I’m using you as some kind of surrogate father figure.” He put his head in his hands. “I’m still the same asshole kid, apparently.”
“You say that like I wouldn’t be honored to listen, Henry.”
Henry closed his eyes. He could almost imagine that it really was his stepfather he was talking to, even though their mannerisms and even their voices were not entirely identical. But this man wasn’t his stepfather, and he’d do well to remember that. They didn’t have the shared history that he had with his mother’s husband. Not only that, but this man’s timeline had diverged decades ago, and different experiences meant he was a different man. Just because they shared the same face and a lot of the same backstory didn’t mean the two Killian Joneses would have the same outlook on the world.
“Come on, lad, tell me what’s troubling you,” Hook said, tapping the table with a finger.
Henry took a deep breath and let it out. “It’s Ella.”
“Ah. Trouble in paradise?”
“No, that’s just it, things are good. Really good. I think… I think I’m falling in love with her.”
Hook raised an eyebrow at him. “So what’s the problem?”
“I grew up with all of these people around me who had these huge, epic love stories. My grandparents -- the other ones, Snow White and Prince Charming -- overcame multiple curses to be together. Emma and the other Killian… I mean, he literally died for her more than once! It’s a lot to live up to.”
“Aye, I imagine it would be.”
“So I left Storybrooke to find that. To find that kind of amazing, life-shattering true love. Sure, I told myself it was to have other kinds of adventures, to see the world and write about it: to find my story. But when I imagined my story, I always imagined myself with a partner. Someone I could maybe have a family with.”
“And perhaps now you’ve found her.”
“Yeah, but have I?” The strong ale on an empty stomach was making him feel a little bit drunk already. “There are so many realms, so many people.” He waved a hand in the air vaguely. “Could I really have found my soulmate, if there is such a thing?”
The exhale that Hook gave him in response was full of exasperation. “What exactly do you think is going to happen when you meet this person, Henry? Is a choir of angels going to come down and proclaim your true love from on high?”
“No, but--”
“I’ve spent a lot of time over the last few years thinking about fate. Apparently, a significant portion of my fate was in the hands of Regina and her bloody dark curse. She doesn’t cast the curse, and I wind up with my wonderful Alice. She does cast the curse, and I wind up in a strange realm married to the Savior.”
Henry blinked at him. “What’s your point?”
“My point is, all it took was one change in something that I had absolutely no control over, and I ended up living a completely different life. I fell in love -- true love, apparently -- with a woman who in the realm of the Wish, I barely crossed paths with. And my beloved Alice never even existed. My point is, it’s chaos. All of it.”
“Great,” Henry said sarcastically.
Hook leaned in, stabbing at the table with his index finger. “It’s chaos, so if you’ve met a woman you love, who makes you feel like if only you could kiss her you’d be able to conquer the world, then for fuck’s sake, don’t waste your life looking for something better. If she’ll allow it, hold onto her and don’t let go.” He leaned back on his seat again. “I only ever knew that kind of love with one woman. The fate of your stepfather tells me that perhaps someday I can know it again. But it’s beautiful and terrible and rare, and if you waste your bloody chance with Ella, then I’ll see you walk the plank.”
Henry gaped at him, and then he felt a laugh bubble up inappropriately. “What plank would that be?”
Hook rolled his eyes. “It’s a metaphorical plank.”
“Ah. I see. A metaphorical plank.”
“Were you this much of a pain the arse of your stepfather?” Hook asked, the pitch of his voice rising in indignation.
“Almost daily.” Henry scratched at the soft wood of the table next to where someone had carved their initials. Beautiful and terrible and rare, he thought, remembering the way Ella’s lips had felt against his. The way his heart tried to trip over itself anytime she passed in front of his field of vision.  “Thank you. For listening, and… for being my friend.”
“Well, clearly you need someone to talk some sense into you occasionally.”
Henry grinned widely. “Clearly.”
Hook sighed and stood up, putting some coins on the table. “Shall we go back to the camp and see if we can scrounge up some decent food?”
“Yeah, we probably should.”
“Perhaps you should seek out your lady love and fall upon her mercy for a hot meal,” Hook said as they exited the tavern.
“Or perhaps I should do the opposite of that and invite her back to my tent for a late-evening meal,” Henry replied.
“Ah, you’re right, that is a better scheme,” Hook said.
Henry made his way over to his horse, patting its neck in greeting. “It’s not a scheme. I’m trying to be nice.”
Mounting his horse, Hook looked over at him. “Thank you for inviting me out, lad.”
“For inviting you to a place where you can’t drink the alcohol and the food is terrible? Yeah, real nice of me,” he muttered as he settled into the saddle of his own horse.
“For sharing a conversation with me, and for caring what I think. It was very kind of you.”
“Well,” Henry said, “someone tells me it’s all chaos. Is there anything else we can do but be kind to each other?”
Hook smiled. “No, I suppose there isn’t.”

In Another World
While visiting Storybrooke, Alice struggles with seeing the life her father could have lived and wonders if he would have been happier without her.
Notes: So I've succumbed to the world of Knightrook and I REGRET NOTHING. So here's Knightrook with a dash of Captain Swan. In terms of timeline, I'm going to say that for Captain Swan, 3-4 years have passed since the left Henry, Regina, and Wish!Hook. Obviously, this is set post-curse. [AO3]   Alice pressed her face against window, watching as the world around her sped by. Maine was full of trees, and it reminded her a bit of where she came from, only this time she would have the ability to explore this place more. She’d done quite a bit exploring over the past few weeks. Not too long after the curse had broken and the villains defeated, she and Papa had decided to take a trip around the States to see all of the sights. They’d plotted over maps and researched the different places they’d like to visit, and – oh – how wonderful it had been.
The Grand Canyon had been her favorite. It was so large and vast, and it appeared to be somewhere someone could go easily find himself or herself lost. And the scenery was so different! The colors were all reds and oranges and brown, and the flora was nothing like she’d seen before. She and Papa had gone hiking, and she’d reveled in how she could stretch her legs and climb to high places and end back up on the ground again. They’d taken so many picture, she and Papa, his arm draped around her shoulder with twin smiles on their faces.
It was fantastic.
And now she and Papa were on their way to Maine to visit Papa’s other self, the one in Henry’s book. No, the one who inspired the character in Henry’s book. It was so strange to imagine two versions of her father, but it wasn’t the maddest thing she’d seen by far. Regardless, she was eager to meet the man that shared Papa’s face and much of his history.
Alice was curious at how different Storybrooke would be from the other places she had visited. She’d learned from Regina and Henry that it was small. Not like a village, but nowhere near as large as Seattle or the other cities she and Papa had stopped at along the way. (New York City had been amazing with its bright lights and towering skyscrapers.) At the very least, she doubted that the town would be as odd as Wonderland.
“Ah, there it is,” her father commented.
Alice looked ahead to see a “Welcome to Storybrooke” sign come into view. She was practically vibrating in her seat now. Henry had given her a list of all the things they should do in town. Alice wanted to eat at Granny’s and see the harbor, and maybe explore the library. Papa had brought her many books growing up, and this world had many books more. She wondered if Storybrooke had different books that Seattle.
Alice wondered many things.
She wondered about other-Papa’s family. She’d read about Emma Swan in Henry’s book, and Papa had told her how the woman had saved his life with her magic. But people in real life were different that people in the stories. She should know. Alice, herself, was nothing like her counterpart in the other book, aside from her name and similar looks. Because of this, she was quite eager to meet the mysterious Emma Swan…and her daughter.
The daughter definitely piqued Alice’s interests. In a way, it was like she had a much, much younger sibling out there. She’d always wanted a little brother or sister, someone to keep her company during her lonely years trapped in the tower. And now she had one! Sort of. They shared similar to DNA, and the daughter belonged to the alternate version of her father, but still. It was a start.
What would be a better start was if she knew the girl’s name. Papa said his other self hadn’t mentioned it on the phone, and Henry hadn’t responded to her text asking. He, Ella, and Lucy had visited Storybrooke weeks ago. Alice had seen pictures on their Instagram accounts, happy and smiling and surrounded by a crowd of people. She’d seen Papa’s other self in one of those pictures, a small dark-haired girl in his arms.
“Do you think they’ll like me?” Alice asked aloud for the first time. It was something she’d been thinking on for quite awhile. “The other you and his family, that is.”
Papa glanced over to her, his expression bewildered. “Why wouldn’t they? You are, without a doubt, one of the most likable people I have ever met. And I’ve met many over the centuries.”
“I know that,” she replied, though it was a partial lie. The truth of the matter was that she was worried. Even though she belonged to different Killian Jones than the one she was going to visit, what if her presence made Emma uncomfortable? Alice knew how step mothers could be, not that Emma Swan was truly a step mother. But she’d seen how Ella had been treated, and she couldn’t help but think of all the possibilities. “But what if they don’t?”
“Then this realm is far more absurd than either you or I ever thought,” Papa replied.
Then the GPS chirped, letting them know they were almost to their destination. They had been directed down a series of streets, taking them to a residential part of town. The lawns were most immaculate and far more sizable than anything she’d ever seen in Hyper Heights. Thankfully, she did not see any toadstools. That simply wouldn’t do.
Papa eventually pulled the car to stop in front of large home. There was a sign on the mailbox that read “Swan-Jones” in curled letters. Alice studied the home. It was tall, not as tall as her tower, but there were many levels. Like the other homes, the lawn was pristine, and bushes lined the front walk.
She let out a low whistle.
“Nice place.”
“Aye,” her father agreed. He quirked his head to the side, “Shall we?”
“It’s be a pity if we didn’t go, considering we went all this way,” Alice answer, and go they went.
The air in Storybrooke was fresher than in Hyperion Heights. She appreciated that. Everything felt cleaner here, and far more peaceful. She wondered if one could see the stars at night. The light of the city obscured them back in Seattle, and if there was one thing she missed about the Enchanted Forest, it was seeing the stars. She’d seen plenty while traveling across the country with Papa, beautiful white lights speckling the sky. Papa had taught her all the constellations years ago. Did this other Killian Jones intend to do the same with his daughter?
Well, there was only one way to find out, so when they reached the front door she knocked.
It was few moments more for a woman to answer the door. Alice recognized her immediately. It was Emma Swan. She had gotten a haircut since the last picture of Henry’s she had seen. Her blonde hair was now shoulder-length, but she was still just as beautiful. Emma’s smile turned wide when she saw them. “You guys are here! Come in!” She opened the door wide, and Alice craned her head to see the inside of the house. It was spacious, with framed pictures on the wall and books stacked in shelves. She noticed stairs winding up to another floor. Yes, the house was certainly larger than her room in her tower or even the apartment she and Papa now shared in Hyperion Heights.
“Your home is lovely, Emma,” Papa said as they entered the Swan-Jones home. Alice stayed silent, instead choosing to walk over to the collage of frames on the wall. There were wedding photos, pictures of Henry in his teens, and plenty of a who she assumed was Emma’s daughter. Alice studied Papa’s other self in each of these photos and cemented his smile to memory. He looked quite happy in each of these photos surrounded by his family and friends. Alice didn’t remember Papa having many friends while she was growing up. He’d remained isolated, though unlike her, it was by choice.
“Where’s everyone else?” Alice asked suddenly, realizing that neither her Papa’s other self nor his daughter were her. She could hear voices upstairs, but she wasn’t sure it was them. The voices very well could have belonged to someone else.
“They’re upstairs. Alice just woke up from her nap, and Killian is wrangling her. They’ll be down any minute. Alice is very excited to meet you both.”
Alice startled at Emma’s words. “Alice? She has my name?” “Yeah, it seems like their devilishly handsome good looks aren’t the same thing the two Killian Jones have in common. They like the same baby names, too,” Emma replied with a laugh. Alice glanced over to Papa, who was scratching behind his ear. Alice supposed she shouldn’t be surprised that her father’s other version had named his daughter Alice. Papa had named her after his mother, and it only made sense that the other man’s mother was Alice, as well. Still, Alice couldn’t deny the knot that was beginning to form in her stomach. Before she could fully contemplate her feelings on the matter, she was distracted by a whoop from the stairs. A man who looked exactly like Papa was walking down the stairs carrying a small child who looked nothing like her. This other Alice’s dark hair was was braided into pigtails, and atop her hair sat a plastic-looking bejeweled crown.
“Hear ye, hear ye, Princess Alice is now awake and ready to greet her most esteemed guests,” the other Killian Jones announced. The girl in his arms waved excitedly with one hand while the other clutched a stuffed animal, and Alice was taken back to when Papa would play pretend with her. She never pretended to be a princess, though, as Papa had explained that royalty was never to be trusted. Alice could be a lady, of course, or sometimes a pirate queen -- but never a princess in a frilly gown and crown.
“I keep forgetting I’m royalty, and she somehow has it imprinted to memory,” Alice heard Emma murmur to Papa eliciting a chuckle. Oh right. Emma was a princess. She wondered if that made Papa's other self a prince. Was he happy as a prince? “I think you have your parents to thank for that, my love,” the other version of Papa replied to Emma. He angled his face toward his daughter, “Milady, how about we greet our new visitors.” The little girl waved excitedly, her words coming out in a jumble. “HiImAlice.”
“I’m Alice, too” Alice said, and the little girl. She felt awkward standing there is in the foyer with Papa and this alternate version of his family. Unwilling to let it show, she said, “It’s nice to meet you.” The other Alice thrust out the stuffed animal in her arms. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be alligator. “This is Crocy. He’s my friend.” This caused Papa to laugh loudly, a joke that clearly Alice didn’t understand. His other self looked mildly amused at the exchange, and Alice wondered what information she was missing. She hated feeling out of the loop. It made her feel a little too crazy.
“It was a gift from her grandfather. He thought it’d be funny,” Papa’s other self explained, though not truly. The man then smiled wide at Papa. “It’s good to see you again. I’m glad you found one another.”
“Would you like to sit down? There’s no need to keep standing?” Papa’s other self asked, and he led them into the living den. He sat the small Alice down, and she walked over to a box of toys, upending the entire thing into the floor. Papa gratefully sat down, but Alice took that as an invitation to inspect the home. As Papa and his other self caught up in the background -- Alice heard him sharing the story of how they cured his poisoned heart -- she admired the array of photos and knick-knacks scattered about. It was clear this version of Papa liked to keep things orderly. There was hardly any dust, and every item seemed to have its place. She wondered how long it took for them to clean this house. Her room in the tower didn’t take long to clean. She recalled singing songs with Papa as they cleaned. Did his other self do the same with his Alice?
“She’s doing surprisingly well with the two of us,” Alice heard Papa comment. They were talking about the other Alice.
“We, ah, sort of explained that you were my twin. She has twin boys in her preschool, so it helped her understand,” the other Killian explained. Alice felt a stab of jealousy at that. She hadn’t been able to have friends as a small child. She wondered if this Alice knew how lucky she was. She lived in a large house that she could leave. She had friends. She had a mother.
“Smart, and the names didn’t give her pause?”
“Well, she knows has two Uncle Liams, I don’t think an ‘Uncle Killian’ was too much for her honestly,” Emma added. Alice knew of her two Uncles. Papa had told her their sad stories, but she was surprised a three-year-old knew. Papa was, as well.
“She knows about them both?”
“Uncle Liam brings me presents,” the younger Alice piped up. “He’s gon’ bring me a huge kraken.”
Papa appeared confused a the small girl’s exclamation. Alice wondered how a kraken would even fit into the house. “So he’s safe then?”
“We reunited a awhile back. He’s on a vessel titled the Nautilus now, and visits every now and then,” the other Killian Jones explained. Alice could tell he was choosing his words carefully. “Alice has taken a liking to him.”
“He’s forgiven me -- I mean, you?”
“Aye, after some time, at least.”
“That’s...that’s fantastic.” The awe was evident in Papa’s voice, but there was something else there too. Regret? Jealousy? Alice couldn’t quite place it, but she didn’t like what was lurking there beneath the surface. “So he’s okay? Truly?”
“Do you have any pets?” Alice asked, pulling the conversation from brothers and not-so-lost brothers. One of her earliest memories was Papa bringing home a small, white kitten for her to befriend. Alice had named her Dinah. She’d loved that cat. “I like cats. And rabbits.”
The small Alice perked up with that, and with an exaggerated frown announced, “No. No kitten for me.” “Maybe if you show you can be responsible, Santa will bring you one,” Emma said in a sing-song voice. Santa didn’t exist for her, or anyone in the Enchanted Forest for that matter. Alice knows that if she thought the man was real, she would have tried to meet him to befriend someone else.
“I’m ‘sponible, Mummy.” As if to prove her point, she closed her eyes tightly. Suddenly, the toys that she had earlier scattered about vanished from the floor, reappearing in the box she upended. “See?”
“You’ve got magic?” Alice asked, kneeling down to face the girl. Small Alice nodded excitedly.
“We’re not sure if it’s an inherited thing, or the ‘product of True Love’ thing,” Alice heard Emma explain. The other woman’s words shook her. Product of True Love. Inherited magic. Her heart began to pound in her chest. “Likely the True Love thing, I’d imagine,” she said.
As if sensing her discomfort, Papa changed the subject. “So, what’s there to do around this town? Henry mentioned Granny’s and her ‘must have’ onion rings.”
“Daddy takes me sailin’ on his ship. It’s big,” the other Alice said. She raised her hands above her head to indicate the height.
“Reminds me of the Jolly,” Papa said, smiling fondly. As much as he tried not to show it, Alice knew he missed his ship. Alice, herself, wish she could have seen it.
“It is the Jolly,” Papa’s other self said. Alice’s eyes widened. He had the ship too?
“Really? You have her?” Papa was astounded. “I haven’t seen her in ages.” “Would you like to? I can poof us there,” Emma suggested.
“I would love...Alice, would you like to see the Jolly Roger?” The longing in his voice was evident, and Alice tried to pretend it didn’t hurt. He gave it up to be with her.
“Sure,” she replied, though she felt as if she was lying through her teeth. Emma looked over at her strangely, and Alice tried not to shrink from her gaze. “Are we going? How does this poofing work, exactly?” Emma explained that they all needed to hold hands, and Papa took her hand into his. Alice squeezed it tightly, hoping that he would never let her go, and in that moment she was afraid. Not of the magic, no. She’d been around magic plenty, but of everything else. Of Storybrooke. Of Papa’s other self with his beautiful life of all the things Papa could ever want. And then a puff of smoke engulfed them, and Alice felt the familiar tugging sensation of being transported somewhere new and different. In no time at all, the slightly floral scent of the Swan-Jones home was replaced by the salty air of the harbor, and they were standing on the deck of a ship. Papa gasped beside her, and he released her hand. He turned to look at her, “I told you she was marvel, didn’t I, love?”
“Yeah, you did.” Papa had regaled her with tales of sailing on this ship, but he’d told he’d given it up long ago to be with her. Alice used to dream of sailing on the ship with Papa, sailing far, far away from her tower to lands unknown. But they never had the chance. She had been trapped, and even if he wasn’t, he no longer had the ship. But the Killian Jones of this world could still sail. He’d never lost it for good, it seemed. He could take his Alice sailing. It made a pretty picture in her head, a vision of Papa sailing the world with a little girl in his True Love -- something her Papa never had the opportunity to have. Because of her. The Killian Jones of this world had never been shackled to a life on the land, because he’d never had her. He’d fathered a different Alice of his own, the product of True Love , as in he’d fallen in love. He got married. He had his beloved ship, and even met his other brother Liam and rekindled their broken relationship. In short, in a world where she never existed, Papa’s life was infinitely better. “Alice, what’s wrong?”
It took her father’s question to make her realize that she’d been crying. She brushed away the tears, and walked away from him. “Nothing.”
“Sweetheart, you’re crying.”
She looked around to see Papa’s other self watching her with concern, his daughter in his arms. Emma held onto his hook, appearing equally worried. What a brilliant and beautiful family they made, perfect in every way. How much better his world was without her. Alice ran.
A small voice in her head told her she was being silly, but she pushed forward, ignoring Papa’s shout of her name. She wished desperately for a looking glass or for a portal to gobble her up and send her to Wonderland, Agrabah, or even her tower -- anywhere but where could see the evidence of just how happy Papa would be without her.
How stupid she’d been to believe this was something she’d actually wanted to see. Unsure of where to go, Alice all but collapsed onto a bench. It reminded her of one of her favorite spots in Hyperion Heights. She wished she could magic away there, to go back and hide, and to forget this day ever happened. Perhaps a curse could once again sweep her away. At least then she’d forget how she’d ruined Papa’s life.
She heard Papa’s familiar footfalls, but refused to turn around to acknowledge him. Instead she sat resolutely looking forward into the harbor, watching the seagulls fly around. When she had been trapped in her tower, she envied the way they could just fly away. Currently, she envied them still.
Papa sat down next to her. Alice could feel his concerned gaze, but she continued to not say anything more. “ You get your stubbornness from me, I’m afraid,” he’d told her ages ago.
“I shouldn’t have brought you here.” Whatever she had been expecting him to say, it wasn’t this. “I should have thought about what seeing their family could have done to you.”
Alice sniffed in an attempt to will away her tears. Finally turning to him, she asked, “Are you jealous?” “Jealous?” He studied her intently, and for once she couldn’t read his expression. “Are you?”
“I’ve been jealous of many different people for many different things,” she replied. She’d been jealous of him for his ability to leave. Jealous of Hatter for his hats. Jealous of Lucy for two loving parents. Jealous of Drizella of her relationship with Gothel, no matter how twisted. Jealous of Alice Swan-Jones for seemingly having it all. But that wasn’t the crux of the matter, was it? “But what about you? He has your ship. A wife. Even has his own Alice with her own magic.” “Aye, but she’s not you.” He was speaking in the tone he used to use when she’d cry about how she could never leave her room, the one that said he understood. This time, however, she wasn’t sure that he did. “Alice, there’s nothing in this world that--”
“Can you really say that? I’ve seen the pictures, seen how happy he is. Can you honestly tell me that you wouldn’t want his life?”
“Not without you,” Papa told her. “Never without you.” Alice bit back a sob, no longer sure if her father was just placating her or telling her the truth. She was terrified it was the latter. “He has his own Alice.”
“Who I’m sure is a lovely girl, but she’s much too young to play a good game of chess,” Papa replied, “and you know how I love a good game of chess.” He was trying to make her laugh, but she was still in foul enough of a mood that it wasn’t working. Besides, eventually the other girl would be grown, and she could play chess. Alice had spied a chess set in one of the rooms in their home. “Alice, talk to me. Would you like the leave? We can set sail as soon as you like.”
And what did she like? She could hardly decide it. She wished to leave and put this behind them, but she didn’t want to run away and hide. She’d done so much of that. More than anything, she just wanted to cry, so she told Papa, “I would like to be alone.”
“Alice…”
“Please, Papa,” she pleaded, and she knew he would acquiesce to her request. He always did. She was right. He sighed heavily and leaned over to kiss her on the head. “I love you, darling, and nothing could ever change that.” And then he was gone, walking away from her just as she asked. Alice felt a sort of emptiness, but she knew she couldn’t face him. Not now, anyway.  Not after she knowing all the pain she had caused him over the years.
“He’s right, you know.” Alice looked over her shoulder to see Emma standing behind her. She wasn’t sure how much the other woman had heard, but she wasn’t in the mood for a lecture. “I would like to be alone, thank you.”
Emma shook her head. “Want to know something about me? I have a superpower. I can tell when people are lying.” She walked over to where Alice was sitting, and took the spot where Papa had once been. “And you, Alice Jones, are lying.” Alice didn’t confirm Emma’s assessment. If what she was saying were true, and Alice had no reason to not believe the other woman, then she would see through whatever she said next. Instead Alice swung her legs, and did her best to distract herself. “I’ve been alone most my life. I think I’m pretty good at it by now.”
“I never spent my life trapped in a tower, so I can’t totally relate, but I do know what is it like to be alone,” Emma told her. Alice scoffed in disbelief, thinking back to the many lonely days and nights wishing for a friend, and the terror she felt when Papa left to search for supplies or more food. “Though they had good reasons, my parents gave me up. The put me in a wardrobe, and I ended up on the side of the street not too far from here.”
“They just left you as a baby?” Alice felt a pang in her chest at the thought of the woman who gave birth to her.
“No one wanted me. I had a family raise me for three years before they gave up. The mother was pregnant, and she didn’t want a kid that wasn’t hers by blood, I guess.” Emma twirled the rings on her fingers as she spoke. Alice wondered if it was a tic of hers.
“So what happened next? Did someone else take you in?”
Emma laughed, but it was a bitter thing. “No. Not long term at least. I was in and out of the system until I ran away. Eventually I met a guy, thought it was true love only for him to frame me for his crimes. I ended up in jail and pregnant.”
“That’s awful,” Alice said, because she didn’t know what else to say. Her heart hurt for Emma and the story she was weaving. Papa had always tried to make her feel wanted and cared for growing up. Emma, unfortunately, didn’t have that. Alice couldn’t imagine how much worse she would have felt if she didn’t have Papa at all.
“Yeah, my life was pretty much a certain kind of hell,” Emma agreed matter-of-factly, shocking Alice with her frankness. She then turned to better face Alice. “I’m telling you this because thanks to a wish, I saw what my life would have been if it had been perfect and I had been raised by my parents and never had to live that life. I grew up in a castle like a proper princess. I still had my son, and I was safe...and I hated it.”
“You did? Why?” “Because that life wasn’t mine. I wasn’t me. Henry wasn’t my Henry. My parents weren’t themselves. It was life, a beautiful, amazing life free of pain, and if I had been the one to live only it, I might not have wanted it to change. But I knew what I was missing, so I desperately wanted to be home where I belonged.” Emma tentatively reached out to take Alice’s hand, and Alice did not pull away. “ You may think your dad’s life is better here, but he doesn’t. Not even a little bit.”
Alice once again felt the sting of tears, and she brushed the sleeve of her shirt against her eyes. She wasn’t embarrassed to have Emma Swan see her cry, not like she would have been with other strangers. Instead she felt a kindred pull the woman her Papa might have loved. “You think so?”
“I know so. Superpower, remember?” Emma’s words made Alice smile a tiny bit. “And even if I didn’t have my superpower, I would still know. Call it a parent thing.”
“Not all parents,” she replied darkly. After all, not all parents cared for their children.
Emma’s face softened. “No, not all parents. But I know Killian Jones, and when he devotes his heart to someone, he devotes it one hundred percent, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.”
“He’s a good father,” Alice said. There were times she thought that no other girl could have a father quite like hers. She still did.
“It shows. His kid seems pretty great,” Emma nudged her. Alice thought she wasn’t acting great, nor did Emma know her well, but the other woman continued, “When Henry visited, he told us quite a bit about you. He said you traveled to many, many places all by yourself, which takes guts.”
“Did he mention Wonderland?” she asked, hoping her sarcastic tone hid her blush. “Everyone only mentions Wonderland.”
“It might have come up. But, hey, it’s someplace I’ve never been, so that’s pretty cool.”
“It was quite the curious place,” Alice replied. She’d yet to visit anywhere like it, which honestly was probably a good thing. “I’m sorry I went a little mad earlier. It wasn’t the best impression of me.”
Emma shrugged. “There’s no need to apologize. If I were you, I would have freaked out a bit too. Your reaction was perfectly normal.”
“Thank you for understanding,” Alice replied. “I’m not always good with other people.”
“It’s okay, not everyone is,” Emma assured her. Alice was beginning to understand why Papa’s other self loved her so much. “So, how about we ditch the ship and take a pit stop to Granny’s? It’s a Storybrooke staple.”
Alice nodded and smiled. “Do you think Granny can make marmalade sandwiches?”
Emma leaned closer and with a conspiratorial smile said, “We’re giving her two versions of Killian Jones. She’ll make whatever we want.” Emma stood, and reached out her hand. “Shall we?”
“We shall.” But Alice didn’t take Emma’s hand. Instead she raced to find Papa and pull him into a hug, to tell him she loved him, and that she loved her life with him.

26. hyde. i hate what this show did with hyde i hate it to my core i can’t even elaborate rn
25. wish realm rumplestiltskin. FLOP FINAL BOSS. there was merit to the concept but he was weak sauce tbh
24. victoria belfry/rapunzel. she was interesting i’ll give her that. but she was ultimately outdone by both her daughter and gothel. so
23. drizella, again interesting, easily a bright spot of season 7’s weak villain pool. but she loses cred for trying to seduce henry when we all know she’s a lesbian
22. jafar (not wonderland jafar, i’m speaking strictly of the main show’s presentation of the villains). he was weak sauce idk what else there is to say he’s only this high because i know he served cunt in wonderland
21. mother gothel. her backstory was lame as fuck but i think it’s hysterical that she fucked killian and then magically sped up her pregnancy to last one single night and had a whole ass baby while he was asleep. no wonder alice is fucked up she spent 8 hours in the womb total
20. isaac <3 i think this guy’s hilarious he only ranks so low because he’s lame and his villain status is super weak i mean all he wanted was to live comfortably in new york city. that’s not being a villain that’s just being a tiktok influencer
19. the snow queen, she was amazing and i love her a lot and elizabeth mitchell slayed the house boots down… however she lacked real antagonism
18. wish realm henry. some may say he doesn’t count as a villain, i say fuck off yes he does. he’s my little guy… he loved his mama… anyway the concept of the author being evil is so huge and big and massive if they had actually done anything cool with it he’d be top ten fr
17. maleficent. she’s cool, loved her lesbian swag <3
16. the queens of darkness as a unit. maleficent, ursula, and cruella all rank differently on their own but as a team they really did get shit done in the most insane way imaginable literally wtf was that team up that was the most random assortment of villains but somehow it worked…
15. the black fairy. she would be higher but alas, despite her being a fun insane crazy bitch, her backstory and motivation were dumb as shit. oh she loved her son the whole time? fuck off if she had any compassion in her body she wouldn’t be kidnapping children to be slaves in her fairy dust mines come the hell on
14. hansel!!! sorry for being a nick branson enjoyer but i loved that man fr. he’s hansel from hansel and gretel he’s jack the giant killer he’s han solo he’s the candy killer he’s gay he’s the next katherine nolan he was killed via voodoo doll. he is currently starring in a CW show…
13. hades… served massive cunt with our decay. also greg germann my mom loves your work on grey’s anatomy
12. evil queen 2.0, she was something. she sure was something. you get it
11. nimue/the darkness, literally hashtag girlboss!! she was insane for being a feminist above being evil. we deserved more of her and merlin’s fucked up little relationship
10. gideon :) that’s my little guy… he’s a bad guy he’s being mind controlled he’s still a bad guy he’s sorry he was hoping she’d save them both he’s still the bad guy this is the end of the story there is no other version of this story he’ll get a second chance and he’ll still be the bad guy it runs in the family etc etc. also i may have built up some of my own mythology for him. sorry he’s my little guy idk what u want me to do about that
9. dark one emma… so sexy as a concept… so insanity inducing in its execution…. she wants to save everyone so bad it will be her own downfall and the thing that ultimately destroys her!!!
8. hook, he just had that flavor that panache that SWAG as a villain… man got his hand cut off and grabbed a hook to stab the guy that did it and killed his lover and then when it didn’t kill him he used that same failed weapon as his replacement hand and fantasized about someday being able to kill his “crocodile” with it. and then he almost did it. would have if it weren’t for that fucked up little candle
7. cruella! her glamour is unparalleled sorry to those animals she’s killed to make that aesthetic happen
6. revamping king arthur as a villain because a version of king arthur without merlin to guide him can’t be a hero… insane. something about how legends can’t be legends without all their supporting characters or whatever and something about the narrative and it going wrong
5. pan… this was just the move this literally changed the culture and made the show what it was always meant to be this genuinely shaped the person i became i can’t elaborate rn ask me later
4. cora mills genuinely the milf of all time. no one got it done like her and no one ever will. she wore evil so well and yet at the same time she deserved to go to heaven. incredible
3. zelena. look when it runs in the family it runs in the family… genuinely one of the most tv villains ever i can’t believe no one’s talking about this… she’s like a rabid dog but a girl
2. rumplestiltskin, of course he makes it this high. man stuck it out for seven seasons and not once did robert carlyle’s performance waiver. makes history in the short king hall of fame. paved the way for hiram lodge but unlike hiram lodge, he could not be killed by anyone’s design but his own
1. we knew it would end with her… she’s the greatest of all time for a reason. the incomparable regina mills… lana parilla carried this show on her back for seven years, and didn’t even get an emmy for her troubles. so fucked up.
need to make a long ass post ranking all the once upon a time villains. one like and i’ll do it tonight

OUAT 7x07/08 Reaction Post
I’m getting a little tired of these midnight shifts....
Oh, so that’s how Wish Regina was defeated.  How’d they accomplish that, I wonder?  And why couldn’t Snow Prime and Charming Prime think of that?
So, how did Tattoo Guy die?
Well, you just got shot, guy!  He didn’t want to disrupt your healing.
Ugh.  What’s your deal, Rumpy Rumps?  Why are you bothering Rogers/Wish Killian?  Why don’t you want him finding this Eloise person?
THANK YOU!  Go work for Regina, Jacinda!  That’s what I’ve been saying since Day 1!
Oh, go away, Drizella!  Unless you wanna tell us what this big horrible thing is supposed to be?
Wow, that’s gutsy, Lucy.  Not even hiding the fact that you know your step-grandma’s awake.
So, who is this Eloise?  What’s her true identity?  Does she have any connection to your lost daughter?
So, this isn’t Parallel Rapunzel, it’s Wish Rapunzel.  So...there were two Rapunzels?  This one and the one that’s supposed to have been around during the Lost Year?
Um... is Rapunzel the witch in disguise?
So, Tilly sells Rolex watches?  Reference to the White Rabbit who was always late?
Ah, blackmail.  That’ll work.
Ooooh.  Did the witch interfere with the security cameras?  I know they can do that- Rumpelstiltskin proved that back in S3.
Speak of the devil!
So, why are you two in cahoots?  What’s the story on this little allegiance?
GRIFFIN!!! (My favorite mythical creature.)
Oh, you can sing, Wish Killian.
HA!  Sea shanty at last!
OOOOOHHH!  So that explains the Garden Gnome!
AWWW!  Was that the song your mother sang to you?
FINALLY!  They acknowledge his mother!  I always suspected she died, but it’s nice to have it confirmed.
Fic writers must be having a field day with this- Killian has a lullaby to sing to the CS Baby.
Ugh, Regina.  Don’t ruin this for her!  Don’t let whatever Drizella has over you get to you.
Tragic fake backstory unlocked.
What’s wrong, Tilly?
So who was Eloise, really?
I have a feeling she’s not really dead.  The way Victoria and Weaver were talking about her makes it sound like she’s actually alive, and that they know where she is.
Does being by the water help ease your mind, too, Rogers?
Did you find something?
Huh.  I guess everyone’s fears were well-founded.
Ugh.  No, Jacinda.  Don’t let Regina get to you.
Regina, you better make it up to Henry!
Oh, and the Ultra Super Dark One dagger.
AAAHHH!  Very clever, Rogers!
Oh, spare me, Rumpy Rumps.  Like you’d ever care about any version of Killian.
Wait, is THAT what warranted the infamous ‘S’ rating?  How was that more revealing than the stuff we saw during the past 6 seasons?
I KNEW SHE WAS THE WITCH!
Ah.  But still.  We got the iffy consent issues again!  A&E love those, don’t they?
Is the Witch tricking him again?
So, this is who Eloise was the whole time?  What’s she going to do now?
AAAAHHH!!!  WE FINALLY KNOW KILLIAN’S MOM’S NAME!!!!!  YES!
So, New Alice IS the daughter like everyone thought.  Okay, so why was she palling around with Rumpy Rumps?
No, she’s not who you thought she was.  She’s more than that, Rogers!  And I’m really hoping you realize that soon.
So....Drizella killed Tattoo Guy?
Oh, no.  Well, this is a downer ending.
And now, to the next episode
Aw. This is a sweet reunion.
So, that’s the curse on his heart, then.  Being together causes him physical pain.
Who gave her a fake cure?  Was it Rumpy?
Wonderful.  Lucy is being subjected to what her grandmother lived through.  At least Lucy knows there’s someone out there who loves her.
Oh, back off, Drizella.  Don’t even think of hitting on your step-brother-in-law.  That’s just gross.
Good Regina.  Stop the possible incest before it happens.
Haha.  Okay, that was a good line.  Don’t be caught monologuing.
Oh, please.  She poisoned the cake, didn’t she?
Who is this guy?  Nick?  Who’s Nick?
Oh, he’s Lucy’s cursed father?
So, who is Nick really?
And we’re in Parallel Wonderland now.
Will we see parallel versions of Jefferson?  Or the Cheshire Cat?
AHHH!!! Snowing references!  Yay!
KISS ALREADY!  You know you want to!
So, go with Henry to his world!  Problem solved
Yeah, I wanna know who Nick is, too, Lucy!
Oh, you’re referencing the whole David/Kathryn thing.  Let’s hope Jacinda doesn’t try and ‘reconcile’ with Nick.  I don’t wand a complete rehash of that can of worms.
Parallel Cinder?  Do you have a connection to Parallel Wonderland?
What if she didn’t stop loving him, Cinder?  Maybe she’s dead?  There has to be an explanation.
Nice dress, Jacinda.
No.  Don’t go on a date with Nick.  Don’t go down this path again, A&E!  Please!  I’m trying to believe you’ve learned your lesson!
Don’t eat it, Rogers!
Thank you, Regina!  I’m so glad you’re awake!  You can keep everyone safe until they wake up, too!
Okay, so is Drizella going to be double crossed by Gothel?  Did she unknowingly bite off more than she can chew?
So, who is Nick, really?  What’s his non-cursed identity?
Was that a Star Wars backpack?  How’d that get there?
So... the mother is dead.
But is this Jabberwokcy anything like ole Jabber from the Wonderland spinoff?
Oh, so the Curse of the Poisoned Heart is commonplace.
Wow, Drizella gets around!
Oh.  Did Drizella place the Curse of the Poisoned Heart on Henry, too?  Apparently, they’re in love with that gimmick.
So, is that what’s supposed to happen if this new Dark Curse breaks?  Henry and Parallel Cinder will both die?
But... does this mean that Drizella cursed Parallel Cinder’s mother, too?  I thought she didn’t have magic before Regina taught her.  Or was it another witch who cursed the mother?
YEAH!  Deck her!
Aw.  Yeah, I ship it.  And they even have the spinning kiss.
Oh, so Victoria forced you into giving up your daughter.
Okay, so Regina’s going to confront Rumpy Rumps now.
Stop feigning ignorance Rumpy! You’re not being cute.
Why would you even want his help, anyway?  I say forget him.  You’re better off without him.
So let’s find out who Nick is...
Haha!  Nice Han/Lando reference
Jack?  Jack who?  Jack Sprat?  The Jack who jumped over a candle stick?
So, this is a friend of Henry’s that we’re only just now meeting.  Okay.  I was kinda hoping it was Roland or something, but I can live with that.
Yay!  They’re together again!  Please show, don’t ruin this moment!
Are you talking about The Dragon?
So, Regina and Henry are off on a secret mission?
Okay, you have Anastasia.  Now what are you planning to do?
Oh, it was a decoy coffin.  So where’s the real Anastasia?

What Dreams May Come, Pt.35
Tumblr media
Dream World. Wonderland. The Infinite Maze. (Ella makes her way through the maze, turning this way and that. Following a sign that reads: 'Tea Party', Ella approaches a door and pushes it open. Walking towards a long table with several chairs placed around it, Ella looks to the head of the table, where the brother and sister are seated.) Ella: "Alice?" Alice: (Smiles:) "That's right." Ella: "And you must be Will?" Will: (Stands:) "Will Scarlett, at your service." Alice: "And, you are?" Ella: "My name is Ella. Tiana and I came to find you, but there was only enough potion left for one. She said you two had a plan to rescue Henry?" Will: “Aye, and it just might work, too.”
Tumblr media
Emma's Dreamscape. Blanchard Apartment. (Mary Margaret enters carrying a large box.) Mary Margaret: "It's here!" Regina: "Oh, hooray." (Placing the box on the table, Mary Margaret steps back to watch as Emma takes out the wedding dress.) Emma: "Oh, wow. Mary Margaret! It's beautiful." Regina: "Yep, just as awful as I remember." (Suddenly, the dress starts turning black.) Emma: "What the hell?" Regina: "Hm, actually that's not bad." Evil Queen: (Appearing beside them:) "I never was a fan of white weddings." Regina: "Oh thank god. Finally someone with a little taste around here." Emma: (Thoroughly confused:) "Roni?" Mary Margaret: "What happened to you? And what are you wearing?" Evil Queen: "Shut up, both of you. I've come to rescue you." Regina: "It's about damn time." Emma: "Rescue me? I'm getting married this afternoon." Evil Queen: "No, you're not. I've already woken Prince Charming and he's dealing with your 'fiance' as we speak." Regina: "Oh sure, I have to sit through endless hours of Snow gushing over wedding arrangements but David beating up the pirate, that I miss.” Evil Queen: "Come on, I'm taking you back to your wife."
Tumblr media
Meanwhile... (Killian stands staring at the white suit in front of him, unsure about it.) Killian: (To himself:) "I'm sure Emma won't be too disappointed if I don't wear that monstrosity." David: (Entering:) "I don't think she'll mind at all." Killian: (Spins around, facing him:) "You? I thought you'd got smart and left this town." David: "Oh, I'm not going anywhere just yet. Now I may not be able to take my revenge on the real Hook, but you'll do just fine." Killian: "Listen mate, Storybrooke has a wonderful psych ward just waiting for you." David: (Shoving him against a wall, with a knife to his throat:) "Shut up! You might not have killed my father, but you abused my daughter and that cannot go unanswered any longer." Killian: (Pleading:) "Don't kill me, please." David: "Don't worry, I won't. But by the time I'm done with you, you'll be begging me to do just that." Dream World. Wonderland. Infinite Maze. Continued. Alice: (Springing from her chair:) "Oh! Would you like a cup of tea?" (Looking down at the table, Ella notices her mother’s matching locket draped over the teapot.) Ella: (Picking it up:) “Where did you get this?”
Tumblr media
Alice: (Grabbing Ella’s hand:) “Give that back. That's not yours.” Ella: “It's my mother's.” (At this, Will and Alice exchange looks.) Alice: “Oh, you're that Ella. You're Cecelia's Ella?” Ella: “You know my mother?” Alice: “Oh, yes.” Ella: “Do you know where I could find her? I have some questions, starting with why she never came back.” Alice: “Oh. That.” (They each take a seat at the table.) Ella: “What? What do you know?” Alice: (Hesitates:) "Well it... it..." Will: (Taking his own seat:) "What do you know about Lord Morpheus, Ella?" Ella: "He... He's the one who has Henry?" Will: "Yes, and he also rules over this land. Not just here, but where you're from too." Ella: "My father and I ruled our kingdom together before he died. I've never heard of Morpheus until you people arrived." Will: "What if I told you that in your world, Morpheus was responsible for all of it? The birds, the trees, the people, everything. He created it all." Ella: "You're talking about God?" Will: "A god. The god of dreams." Ella: (Looking back and forth between Alice and Will, confused and frustrated:) "What's that got to do with what happened to my mother?"
Tumblr media
Alice: "We're getting to that. Please, just listen." Will: "Alice and I met your mother during one of the Mad Hatter's tea parties." Ella: (Scoffs:) "She left her family for a tea party?" Alice: (Extends her arm:) "Look familiar?” Ella: “Yeah, my father had a mark like that. What is it?” Will: “It’s part of the Curse of the Poisoned Heart.” Alice: “It appears when you’re touched by the one you can’t be with.” Ella: “But if... if my father had the same mark, my mother’s heart was poisoned, too. (Realising:) She never stopped loving us. She left to protect us.” Alice: “Trust me, if your touch could kill the one you love, you’d want to be lost, too.” Ella: “But that doesn’t tell me where my mother is now, what happened to her?” Will: (Sighs:) “As you know, Alice and I are not from your world. When we were still under the curse, the Hatter came to Alice in her dreams and offered her a way for us to be together. A way to see and touch each other without having to worry about the effects of the curse.” Ella: “How?” Alice: “Through shared dreaming. As we would sleep, the Hatter and his lovely wife, Sarah, would collect all of us who were affected by the curse and we’d meet, in our dreams, for these tea parties.” Ella: “So why was I never invited?” Alice: “Cecelia would watch us as morning came and we’d be forced to part from one another. She couldn’t bear the idea of having to go through that or put you through it.” Will: “So, she asked the Hatter to take her with him, to our world.” Ella: “Why, so she could forget about my father and me?” Alice: (Shaking her head:) “To find a way to be with you again, properly, as a family.” Will: “Jefferson was reluctant at first, but Sarah asked him to consider what he would do if it were their daughter. And so, he took your mother with them after the very last tea party we’d have.” Ella: “Why did the tea parties stop?” Will: “Morpheus. He was so angry that Jefferson had taken someone from his world, that he ripped Sarah away from Jefferson and their child, never to be seen again.” Alice: “Jefferson couldn’t risk losing his daughter as well, so he swore never to return. (Sighs, reminiscently:) Those parties were the only thing that kept me going in my tower for the first few months.” Will: “Me too.” Ella: “So, is my mother still out there, in your world?” Alice: “We don’t know. Jefferson never said what happened to her.” Ella: (Sighs:) “Okay. (Rallies:) So, what’s your plan to save Henry?” Alice: “Ah, glad you asked. (Brightens:) Will and I have been gathering ingredients that can be only be found in Wonderland.” Will: “Luckily, that includes this world’s version, too.” Ella: “Ingredients for what?” Will: “A sleeping potion.” Alice: “I’m going to find Henry through my dreams.” Ella: “Your dreams? Why would that work?” Alice: “If the dead can enter the dreams of the guilty, why can’t the living? Awhile ago, I unintentionally trapped Henry in a bad situation and I still feel responsible for it. (Brightly:) So, hopefully I can use my guilt to find him.” Alice’s Dreamscape. A Cave. (Struggling with his restraints, Henry looks up to see Alice suddenly standing across from him.) Henry: "Alice? (Struggles:) Can you get me out of this, please?" Alice: (Shrugging:) "Out of what?" (Henry is immediately released from his bonds.) Henry: "Cool, thanks. Wait, are you really here? Did you follow me into my dreams, like Hook?" Alice: "Hook's here too?" Henry: "Yeah, he was with me when Morpheus took us." Alice: "Well I don't know where he is, you’re the only one who can access my dreams right now and we've got to get you out of here." Henry: "Right. (Walks toward her:) Hey, where are my moms?" Alice: (Rolls her eyes:) "No, no, you're welcome. You don't need to thank me for rescuing you at all(!) Henry, almost the entire population of the united realms has come to save you." Henry: "Really? Awesome. But my moms-" Alice: "Ugh! They're trying to get here, okay? Trust me. (Throws down a magic bean:) Come on, I'll explain once we’re safely out of here."
Tumblr media
Henry's Dreamscape. Kingdom Of Valencia. (At the castle, Jasmine has decided to take charge of things for the time being.) Jasmine: “I want to thank everyone for pitching in and collecting things we can use as weapons. But we may need to sort through and pick out the best bits. Okay? Right. (Digging through the pile of would-be weapons:) Pots and pans. Very good for bonking heads. A couple of spatulas, a whisk. Weren't there any knives in the kitchen? No? Shame.” Man: “I've got a potato. It's very pointy.” Woman: “I didn't find any weapons, but I'm really going to give those Valencians a piece of my mind.” Husband: “Her words can be very cutting.” Ruby: (Turning to Mulan:) "Okay, are you ready to lead this army?" Mulan: "Me? I don't think so." Ruby: "You're the obvious choice, Mulan. You've served in armies, trained warriors. You're perfect for the job." Mulan: (Shakes her head:) "No, I'm not. There's no way I can get these people ready in time. I don't have the ability to inspire these people to follow me into battle." Ruby: "Well then if not you, who? No offense to Jasmine but, well... look." Jasmine: “Well, we don't have much in the way of weapons. But, uh, we got grit. And determination. Yah!” Grumpy: (To the other dwarves:) “I mean, it's a bit desperate, isn't it?” Ruby: "See?" Mulan: "No. We need someone else." Ruby: "There isn't anyone. Tiana's gone missing, the Camelot and Dun Broch armies have disappeared. Who else is there?" Mulan: (Taking out a magic bean:) "These beans can take us anywhere, right?" Ruby: "I think so." Mulan: "Even back in time, perhaps?" Ruby: "I'm not sure they work that way. But we are in the Dream World, so anything should be possible. Why, where are you thinking of going?" Mulan: "Back... to a time of Ancient Gods, Warlords and Kings." Ruby: "Mulan..." Mulan: "A land in turmoil cried out for a hero." Ruby: "You can't be serious?" Mulan: "Well why not? If anything in this world is possible, we'd be foolish not to try. She has everything we need in a leader. The power, the passion-" Ruby: "The danger?" Mulan: (Nods:) "Her courage will change the world. Come on, what do you think?" Ruby: "We're gonna ask both of them though, right?" Mulan: "Of course. Can't have one without the other. They're a team. Like you and I." Ruby: (Smiles:) "All right, let's go for it."
Tumblr media
Throne Room. (While Emma paces, Zelena and Robin have a heart to heart.) Robin: "I don't see what the big deal is. He's an excellent fighter, unbeatable with a bow and knows what it's like to be on a battlefield. With those attributes alone, he should be leading this army." Zelena: "Absolutely not. We have no idea who this man is or why he agreed to help us. He could just as easily turn on us and fight for the Valencians." Robin: "Mom, you are totally letting your experience with Morpheus cloud your judgement. This Robin Hood isn't like that, at all." Zelena: "You don't know that, sweetheart. This man isn't your father." Robin: (Sighs:) "Of course he's not. My father is dead. But that does not mean the man I convinced to help us is not a good person. At the very least he can help me teach others how to use a bow and handle a sword." Zelena: "What do you think, Emma?" Emma: (Stops pacing:) "We don't have a lot of options. I say, if he's willing to fight alongside us, we should let him. And the more archers we have the better, because I do not like our chances out there in hand to hand combat against those soldiers." Snow White: "Well how about one more?" (Emma turns to see her parents standing behind her, having just stepped through a portal.) Emma: "Mom! Dad! (She is enveloped in a warm hug from her mother, while David cradles Emma's head in his hand:) Glad to have you back." Snow White: "Oh, it's good to be back." Regina: "Never thought I'd see that. (Emma turns and beams at her wife:) The sight of the Charmings hugging... well, me." Emma: "Regina." Zelena: "Wait! (Moves to stand between them:) Before you two start kissing each other, I think it's best for everyone's psyches if you were back in your own bodies. (Pulls out the pouch and sprinkles the fairy dust over both of them:) There, that ought to do it." Emma: (Back in her own body:) "Now that's a sight for sore eyes." (Quickly closing the gap between them, Emma kisses Regina deeply, relieved to be reunited.) Regina: (As they part:) "You're not mad?" Emma: "Seriously? You sacrificed yourself, all the while giving me the chance to experience what it felt like to be carrying our baby inside me.” Regina: (Corrects her:) “Inside me.” Emma: (Nods:) “Right. (Taking her hands:) I will never be able to find the words to tell you how much that means to me. (They kiss again:) But if you ever do anything like that again, I will kill you." Regina: (Chuckles, through tears:) "Yes, dear. (Wiping her eyes:) So... the Evil Queen saved us. I did not see that coming, did you?" David: (Shakes his head:) "I can honestly say, I think I've seen it all now." Regina: "How did you get her to help you?" Emma: "Oh, (Looks to Zelena and winks:) it was a family effort."

OMG, don't tell me LT as Rapunzel is actually happening now?! They had me convinced they wouldn't go there! Also, in light of all the magical ladies popping up all over HH and the 'Eight Witches' title we'll have a whole coven soon. So far, I'm only missing one: There's Regina, Zelena (although, shouldn't she be powerless?), Drizzy, The Witch, apparently Anastasia, and possibly Alice and Robin. Can you think of someone? Lucy, maybe? And you know you've given up on the timeline when you cont
cont don’t even question how Alice was friendswith Jacinda’s mom. That’s how I deal with the Wish realm and all it’simplications too, btw, I’m at a point where I’m just like, ‘yeah, whatever yousay, sure’. But I do think WishEQ mentioned that the tower was in a far awayrealm, so it was probably the Alt!EF, yeah. I for one want to know whatRumple’s deal is? Coz I have a hard time buying him caring for any version ofKillian. What’s he up to? And Henry finally has a BFF, what?!!
Hey, Spec Anon! Listen, you were the one to getme on board with the whole LT as Rapunzel theory in the first place, you shouldbe patting yourself on the back for calling it so early.
Who Are the Eight Witches?
It’s like trying to name the seven dwarfs inone go without forgetting at least one – i.e., nigh on impossible, but startingwith those who we know have magic:
Regina
Zelena
Drizzy
The Witch/Eloise
Tiger Lily
Then those who we suspect may have magic basedon clues and bloodlines:
Anastasia
Robin
Alice
And then one more, based purely on speculation:
Rapunzel
Obviously I’ve gone a little overboard becauseI’ve come up with one too many. But I’m starting to like the idea that ifRapunzel is a younger LT, that when she was younger she did have magic butsomething happened (whatever tragic event is hinted at in the promo for 7x09)that either made her reject her magic for a different kind of power, or causedher to lose her magic. If both Drizzy and Anastasia have magic, it would makesense that they inherited it from their mother; it solidifies theCora/Zelena/Regina parallel even more, while at the same time twisting thecomparison by having the mother supposedly rejecting magic for power. (I saysupposedly because we’ve seen LT use that fairy wand one too many times toreally believe she truly rejects magic.)
For now, I’m going with Rapunzel being the 8thwitch, not Alice, or any of the other newbies like Cinderella, Tiana, or Lucy.
Meeting Cinderella’s Mom
It wouldn’t have been impossible for Alice toknow Cinderella’s mother in Wonderland. Based on Alice commenting about howyoung Hook appeared, it seems reasonable to believe that they were togetherlong enough for Alice to see her father aging, getting grey, maybe even slowingdown a bit. (Let’s hope he eventually built a ladder or stairway to the towerwindow and didn’t have to climb a rope every time he went out for food orsomething.) I can even go so far as to believe that his heart wasn’t poisoneduntil Alice was old enough to understand that ramifications of what wouldhappen if they touched so that they were still able to see each other withoutan accident happening. I suspect that Alice figured out a way to escape andtook advantage of his leaving one day for supplies or something to make a breakwithout him knowing what she was doing. So if Alice was a teenager when shemade her way to Wonderland, and she and Cinderella are supposed to be aroundthe same age (?), then I could buy Alice and Cinderella’s mother meeting andknowing each other.
The fact that we don’t quite know whetherAlice, Henry, Cinderella, and Tiana are all supposed to be around the same ageor not makes trying to figure out the timeline difficult. I was assuming thatAlice was much younger than the rest based on appearances alone, but that doesn’tmake sense given when she was born, because if she was born around the sametime as Emma, then Alice should be about 17-18 years older than Henry. Whoknows, maybe time moves differently in Alice’s Wonderland than it does in thealt!EF?
WTH is The Witch’s Tower?
Man, I don’t know, because if the witch’s towerwhere Alice was born was located in the alt!EF then that raises a wholedifferent set of questions. Namely, did Hook have an inexhaustible supply ofbeans? Because let’s think about it, he and Smee would have needed one bean toget to the alt!EF, then Smee would have needed one to get back to the wishrealm on his own, then Hook would have needed one to get back to the wish realmto give Smee the Jolly Roger, then Hook would have needed another bean to getback to the alt!EF, and then Hook would have needed another one to eventuallyget back to the wish realm many years later.
Honestly, if Hook had a bottomless pocket ofbeans, why didn’t the EQ trade the information she had for a bean? She couldhave used that to escape to a place where no one would have known where to findher, instead of bartering for passage on Hook’s ship and risk him trading thatinfo with Snowing in exchange for access to wish Rumpelstiltskin who they hadimprisoned in their dungeon.
Does Rumple Have a Selfless Motivation?
It thought it was interesting that Reginaraised the issue of the Guardian during her little showdown with Rumple in thebar. Seemed that was placed to remind us that Rumple does still have his owngoal outside of whatever havoc Drizzy and LT are attempting to unleash on the restof HH. I don’t expect Rumple to go out of his way to help Hook, or Henry, butRumple being Rumple will always help whomever will get him closer to hisendgame. So if breaking the curse gets Rumple closer to the Guardian, and ifstopping the witch furthers that goal, then Rumple will do something to throw awrench in her plans, without a consideration as to whether the side-effect ofhis wrench throwing has a positive or negative impact on anyone else in HH.
Henry Doesn’t Know Jack
Sorry, couldn’t resist that. Is it bad of methat I really wanted Jack/Nick to be Lucy’s father and was kinda disappointedthat he turned out to be a buddy of Henry’s instead? The timeline would haveworked so much better for me if Lucy was already around at the point of Henryand Cinderella meeting. Guess I’m still having an issue with them spendingabout 10 years in the alt!EF fighting LT and the “king” before the curse beingcast.
It is nice to know that Henry did make friendsduring his travels though. It certainly opens up the door for them to dropother fairytale characters into the flashbacks at random from now on.
