Hey guys, I know I don’t post much in this blog anymore and I am not exactly sure who will see this but I’m posting this because today is the Philippine Presidential Elections and, just like what other people here are already saying, we’re fighting for our lives right now.
We are fighting against the return of dictatorship in the country. We are fighting against the continuation of corruption and injustice. We are fighting for a better future. We are fighting, so that we may finally know peace.
Today, multiple issues regarding the elections have come up. Vote-Counting Machines (VCMs) “malfunctioning”, SD cards missing, people getting PAID for voting for the dictator’s son and his party, and more. Even the commission in charge of ENSURING FAIR ELECTIONS is failing to fully understand the grasp said issues, wasting people’s time and votes.
If you do find this post and read it, all I ask is that you share the news about the Philippines. Anything about today (May 9, 2022), about Halalan 2022/PH Elections 2022, about BBM and the Marcos Family, about Leni Robredo, Kiko Pangilinan, Chel Diokno and the rest of Robredo’s senatorial slate (+ Neri Colmenares),
and if this inspires you to learn everything else, then please do.
We are asking for your help, not in votes, but in sharing what is happening here to the rest of the world. Whatever happens, whatever the results are, we want the whole world to see what is going on. (But thank you to the foreign news outlets who have been speaking on this).
All the Filipinos are asking for is a fair government, where lives are recognized and uplifted. We cannot be kept in the dark again, we have had enough.
And if we need to meet in EDSA once again, then so be it.

Don't Lose Hope.
After watching our candidate, her team, and supporters put all their work, effort, time, money, and tears into the 2022 Elections, it feels like a dark shadow has been cast on our country again and there's nothing we can do about it.
I'm so sorry to the families who were victimized by the Marcoses. I'm so sorry to those who died trying to stop a ruthless and corrupt dictator, only for his son to wind up as President of our poor and starving country. I'm sorry to victims of the Marcos family, to those victims whose bodies were found and those whose bodies are lost in a place that their loved ones cannot find. I'm sorry to those who witnessed Martial Law and celebrated when Ferdinand Marcos was ousted, thinking their children won't have to suffer the way the Filipinos did in the 70s-80s. I'm sorry to those in lower socioeconomic status families who voted for Leni with hopes that she would be able to bring about change as our President. I'm sorry to everyone who hoped for a better future, only for evil to prevail.
Our hearts ache. Today, I watched my 81 year old grandfather sit on his own in a depressed mood because he couldn't believe that after doing his part in history by joining the EDSA revolution and voting on May 9, he was watching history repeat itself. He is too old to worry...but he worries because he cares the future of his family and country when he is gone.
But this is only the beginning. Before things will get better, they will get worse. But things can still get better. We cannot lose hope, because that's exactly what our corrupt government wants.
If you are lucky enough to be in class A and B, please do your part to help the less fortunate. We will suffer, but we will not suffer as gravely as those who live hand to mouth on a daily basis. It is easy to think that they might deserve it because they were the bulk of the voters who supported the Marcos family's return. But the truth is that their return has been carefully prepared for, for decades. Fake news, vote buying, poll manipulation, cronyism, corruption, political dynasties. The real evil lies in those with power and privilege who are educated enough to know better but choose not to do better. There is a reason why education is normally given the smallest budget, because these corrupt politicians benefit from the less fortunate's ignorance and miseducation.
The day will come when we are called to rally again and fight for our freedom. Until then, do not lose hope and do not forget to act as the miracle in other people's lives. The evilness of our government should not push us to tolerate and enable such behavior or worse, be as uncaring and without compassion as they are. Our country can be better if we continue to push ourselves to be better and demand our government to be better.
God bless you guys. To the non-Filipinos, please pray for our country or help spread the news about what is happening to us. We really need it.

Based on my experience with relatives and friends, their choice to vote for Marcos boils down to two options: stupidity or selfishness. I know people who state that they voted "for their own reasons" and yet when you ask for their reasons, they state "X works for him" or "security". But 1) your loyalty to a friend or family does not automatically mean they are making the best decision for our country and 2) what "security" are you looking to obtain as someone who is part of the top 1% of the Philippines?
Additionally, whatever beliefs that BBM can achieve anything good is based on fake news or simply wishful thinking. In all his years as a politician, he's achieved zilch to help the people. Not to mention that it is known information among the upper middle class above that he's a coke head.
It seems that distant relatives try to shut you down as Western minded because it's the easiest way to make you feel that you shouldn't have a say in any of this. But you are still Filipino and your concerns are valid. Frankly, it's a tactic often used by trolls. In fact, anyone who wishes to seek justice is often automatically flagged as "communist" when that is simply not the case.
"Western thinking" does not necessitate the desire for a clean and fair election, it does not necessitate the desire to keep a family of thieves and murderers off the position of Presidency (from which they were already removed decades ago), it does not necessitate the desire for the said family to return all the money they owe, it does not necessitate the desire for the family to apologize for all the money they stole and people they killed (they have issued ZERO apologies), it does not necessitate the desire for this family to FRIGGIN PAY TAXES (they haven't paid in decades).
If all the statements above resonate with you, I can assure you that these are not a result of Western thinking. These are a result of seeing injustices committed in your home country with zero consequences for the corrupt official who commit them. These are a result of knowing that thousands of people suffered and died the first time the Marcoses were in power, and millions will now suffer because of the corruption and incompetence of the government officials that will be elected. History is repeating again. You don't have to fight with your relatives about politics, they've made their beds. But you can continue to spread the word about what is happening and stay educated about Martial Law and the Marcos family's crimes.
PSA
(Long post but this is important so please read)
For those living outside of the Philippines and are currently unaware of the ongoing situation in my country, we just had our elections yesterday on May 9 (Monday) and results have been coming in since last night. Bong Bong Marcos, the son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos is in the lead for president while his VP candidate Sara Duterte, daughter of the current president, also in the lead. And this is bad. REALLY BAD.
I can't give a complete and comprehensive summary of Ferdinand Marcos' rule in a single post but this is all you need to know. A lot of people were killed, tortured, and raped during his time, and those were only the ones who were found and accounted for. We still have so many missing victims until now that we call them the Los Desaparecidos or The Disappeared. The Marcos family also stole about billions from the country and her people. They literally lavished in their homes while children were dying from starvation.
Already foreign investors are pulling out which can mean really bad things for our economy which not many of us can afford right now.
And as for Sara Duterte if you've heard of her father and the War on Drugs then you'd understand why we're so apprehensive of having another Duterte have a seat of power in the national government.
As of now there are already allegations of the elections being rigged. Some might think it's a wild conspiracy theory but with the history of these political dynasties and the corrupt system of our government I can't help but agree that something's wrong.
Because before elections even officially closed there have already been reports of about 1800 faulty Vote Counting Machines (VCM) , the highest number in election history with VCMs rejecting ballots or malfunctioning effectively delaying the voting process by hours which resulted with registered voters being turned away by COMELEC because they didn't make the cut-off of 7 p.m.
And speaking of COMELEC (they're basically the committee in charge of handling the elections) their handling of the whole elections is just downright incompetent and shady. There have been allegations of ballots being manipulated and only a few hours has passed since the tallying of votes has begun and somehow they've covered more than 85 % of the precincts just not all over the country but also overseas. Which is questionable considering that about 50% of the country's VCMs are broken.
There is also a noticeable trend with how Leni Robredo, Marcos' most serious opposition who beat him for the position of VP in the 2016 elections, always has 47% of the total transmitted votes for Marcos during every election update.
(tl;dr)
I know that Tumblr can be very Western centric but this is serious. The elections were badly handled from the start and it looks like we're heading towards another Marcos administration thanks to a combination of Filipinos who would rather deny our history and corrupt government officials. Please help us keep a spot light on the Philippines because we're not going down without a fight if Marcos wins.

#KulayRosasAngBukas
Tumblr media
If you've seen this hashtag around, feel free to support it! It's the beginning of Campaign Season in the Philippines and everyone is hopeful for the future. Here's why.
In the Philippines, we've been under horrific, anti-human rights, murderous leadership for the past 6 years.
You all know Rodrigo "I will be Hitler and Drug Addicts will be Jews" Duterte. You know he ran a drug war that killed over 30,000 people in Extra Judicial Killings. That we know of.
That was what we had for the longest time. And he mishandled the pandemic as badly as you'd think for someone who hates human rights.
But then there's Leni Robredo.
Tumblr media
She's our Vice President. The admin has been trying to push her out for 6 years because she's an actual good leader.
She's a grassroots lawyer, she's ALWAYS there in person during calamities, she's been running independent pandemic relief, she has 0 record of corruption, the Commission of Audit has been marking her office one of the most reliable in the entire government for the entirety of her Vice Presidency.
She. Is. Amazing. And she's running for President!
"Kulay Rosas Ang Bukas" stands for "The colour pink is the future", because pink is her campaign colour. Many people, including perhaps artists you follow on social media, have been showing their support for her campaign.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now Motzie, you ask, if she's so beloved, why is everyone going so hard on campaigning for her?
Excellent question.
Enter, BBM or Bongbong Marcos.
SON OF A DICTATOR, LITERALLY HAS A "COURT CASES" SECTION ON WIKIPEDIA, IS USING THE BILLIONS OF PESOS HIS FATHER STOLE FROM THE PHILIPPINES TO FUND HIS CAMPAIGN AND AN ARMY OF INTERNET TROLLS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also consistently denies, alongside his family, the egregiousness of the long dictatorship and Martial Law his father (and unofficially, his mother) ran for years.
And he's running for President. The absolute clown is paying big money to erase the crimes of his family and his own harmful actions. His mother is pushing it possibly because she was CONVICTED in 2018 and still hasn't been imprisoned, and having a President for a son could keep her out of jail.
I won't stay too long on this criminal idiot. He doesn't deserve attention. The point is that he's paid, with the people's money, to run campaigns to LIE to the people.
And the reason everyone pushes so hard for Leni to win is so that the Marcoses, the family of dictators who stole billions from the Philippines, will lose.
And the reason we want Leni to win is because she's actually a good leader.
I can't list EVERYTHING she's done, but here's a summary:
Was on the ground for multiple calamities in the Philippines to aid people
Was running pandemic aid consistently better than the actual Philippine government under Duterte, which tried on multiple occasions to push her out
BBM has been holding a grudge on her for years for "stealing" the Vice Presidency from him when he tried this back in 2016
Even if it's not healthy to place ALL your hopes and dreams onto one person, she's very clearly interested in making the country better, in contrast with Marcos.
If you see all the love for our Pink Presidential Candidate floating around, feel free to support it for the hope of a better future for the Philippines.
And if you want to do your own research, feel free to!
But here's a quick glossary of additional terms for context:
1) Rosas = Pink (Filipino), also Rose (Filipino)
2) Kakampink = a play on the word Kakampi (Ally) but with "pink" in the word
3) LeniKiko2022 = I can't speak much on Kiko Pangilinan, the VP candidate campaigning with Leni. All I can say is that in the Philippines you can vote for Presidents and VPs separately. Kiko was her candidate pick. I need to do more research before I can safely say anything about Kiko, but they're definitely campaigning together!
Let me know if you have any questions or want to add anything!

"Bayan, pumili ka."
Tumblr media
On Monday—9th of May, 2022—I am voting for Leni Robredo to be the next President of the Republic of the Philippines, and for Kiko Pangilinan to be her Vice President.
This is genuinely the first time I don't feel like I'm supporting and settling for a "lesser evil" candidate.
I believe—with my whole dang heart—Leni and Kiko are the very best of the candidates. By far.
They are—honest-to-god, hand on heart—genuine public servants.
So I'm going to the voting precinct on Monday not only with a clear conscience, but also teeming with hope.
And whoever you're voting for on Monday, I do hope you're able to vote with as much certainty in your choice of candidates, and the ideals they stand for.

hello everyone !! this is probably an overdue announcement already lmao but i think it's for my peace of mind as well because i feel guilty for being shit at interacting for the past months. (this is not me leaving tumblr btw, just lessening interactions and trying to recover from a burnout) navigation.
i don't usually like talking about things that are going on in my life because this is a safe space for me to get away from the shit happening in reality but as much as i want to escape it, it will always catch up.
the last time i posted a fic and properly interacted here was december 2021. since then, life has been a constant turmoil for the past 5 months. you may or may not know, but it's the national and local elections here in the philippines (in just a few days actually). because of that, the lives and future of millions of filipinos are so unsure. and before i am anything else, i am a filipino first.
can you imagine the son of a dictator that selfishly ruled the philippines for over 20 years, plunged my country into billions in debt (that we're still paying to this day), committed heinous crimes against humanity, and many more atrocities actually having the chance to rule over the land once more? it's absolutely sickening—how history has been easily forgotten, how historical revisionism is their main goal.
it's not an exaggeration but the 2022 elections are a do or die, now or never, good vs evil moment. the whole world is watching every move we make, trying to see if we filipinos are truly a forgiving, gullible, stupid culture or if we filipinos are hungry for change, good governance, and can fight against a political dynasty that will ruin our very democracy. they are the marcos family.
we have a good fighting chance, actually. it's why the stakes are so high. there's a woman that emerged from the ashes of disinformation, heckles, negative campaigning, and every other shit they threw against her. she is leni robredo, the lone female presidential candidate. the only one who is qualified to lead the country and lift us from the despair we've been living in for over six years. the best man for the job is a woman, and with her, we can clearly see the hope that we have been desperately longing for.
indeed, the future is female.
standing by her side is kiko pangilinan, the only man qualified to be her vice president. he is running against the daughter of our current president, the president that sowed hate and discord within the hearts of filipinos, grew troll farms, and committed crimes against humanity with his extrajudicial killings for six years. they are the duterte family.
but i digress, because of everything that is going on, i can't be the person that i like on this website. i'll still be here, lurking and probably reblogging art and fics when i feel like it but i've turned off my asks because i feel overwhelmed. i don't know when i'll really go back to writing and interacting, but this is me for now.
i hope that this time next week, life will be different. but the good kind of different, the good different that every filipino deserves.
tumindig para sa bayan, para sa kulay rosas na bukas, para sa radikal na pagmamahal. tara na, at ipapanalo natin ito, dahil sa gobyernong tapat, angat buhay lahat.
if you want to know more, i'll be leaving some links below.
the marcos revival || international criminal court goes after duterte's drug war || who is leni robredo || the last man standing is a woman || bakit si leni? (why leni) || who is kiko pangilinan || bakit si kiko? (why kiko) ||
mabuhay at laban pilipinas, bayan kong minamahal.

“I don’t want to get the credit for it. Sa tingin ko naging symbol lang ako…. Parang the time was right."
“It could have been anyone else, ‘yun lang ‘yung tingin ko. Na ‘yung tao, handa na siya. ‘Yung tao, parang…matagal na siyang nagkimkim."
Make no mistake, this is the Filipino people's movement. This is not just another election. Ms. Vice President Leni is right. The time is right. We are ready.
Let's appoint the leaders who uphold our people's values, who actively listen to and amplifies our voice, who understand and insist that the government exists to serve its people, each and everyone of us and not just the exploitative elite—not the other fucking way around.
Let's send VP Leni Robredo (#10) and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan to Malacañang (#7). It's time for real and meaningful change. It's time for real, genuine unity.

I am too frazzled right now to check for more—will continue to do so once I have calmed down—but here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know there’s more.
I know there SHOULD be more.
Let every news outlet existing talk about the Marcoses, Marcos Sr’s Martial Law, Marcos Jr's disinformation campaign, and everything else in between.
Let them talk about Leni Robredo and her work as a lawyer representing marginalized individuals and as the Vice President of the country, about Kiko Pangilinan and his advocacy in improving the agricultural sector of the country, about Chel Diokno and how he and his father Ka Pepe Diokno have made contributions in human rights and pro-Filipino economic legislation over the years, about Risa Hontiveros and how she has constantly been advocating for Filipinos' quality of life and even authored the Mental Health Act, the Safe Spaces Act, and the Raising of the Age of Sexual Consent Act, about the other members of Robredo’s senatorial slate and other candidates who chose to run for a position in the government FOR THE PEOPLE.
Let them talk about how voting for Robredo and the others is not about bringing these people into power per se, but about the good governance they represent.
Let them talk about the Filipino people—not as the brainless sheep who deliberately chose to be ignorant, but as victims of a long-running and deeply-ingrained campaign that takes advantage of their ignorance and does everything to keep them ignorant.
Let the whole world know what is going on in the Philippines. We need them to watch us. We need them to listen to us.
We aren’t an isolated case. Like many others have already said, disinformation can happen to anyone, regardless of the country you are from. So read, watch, and listen.
Because your home can be next.

HELP THE YOUTH STAY EDUCATED ABOUT THE MARCOS DICTATORSHIP
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pre-order these books here.
With Sara Duterte as Vice President and now Secretary of Education, we must prepare for the likelihood of historical revisionism in the youth's education, which first started when corrupt Dictator Ferdinand Marcos' body was allowed to be transferred to Libingan ng Mga Bayani (Cemetary of Heroes) despite the protests of thousands of Filipinos.
"presumptive vice president Sara Duterte-Carpio on Thursday said the Philippines needs a future generation of Filipinos who will advocate for “peace and discipline” in the communities."
The daughter of a man who killed thousands of people, and paved the way for the Marcos family to be accepted by Filipinos once more. She intends to do this under the leadership of Bong Bong Marcos, who has refused to apologize for the murders, tortures, sexual abuse, and theft that his family and cronies have committed.
Before they get their claws deeper into our education system, please try to buy any one of these books for your younger relatives or future children.
We cannot allow them to change history. We cannot lose hope. We must continue to fight for our country, even if it just means staying educated.
If you are not Filipino, please pass on the news about what is happening to our country. Help the world know what is happening to us, because this could happen to you.

PH Elections 2022
I have to post this. It has been a long night here in the Philippines. We're currently having our presidential elections, and the frontrunner (and expected to win by a landslide) is a former dictator's son, who lied about having an Oxford degree, allegedly a coke addict, with no strong record of achievement in public service, in his years as a congressman and a senator. Our vice presidential frontrunner is our outgoing President's daughter, like her running-mate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., Sara Duterte has questionable credentials. She is a lawyer facing a disbarment case, and once punched a sheriff for exercising the law. Both Marcos and the younger Duterte are backed by the outgoing administration of Rodrigo Duterte. Under the elder Duterte's leadership, the war on drugs happened. Under said "war on drugs" Duterte promised to eradicate illegal drugs, once and for all in the Philippines. He also promised to "end crime" in 3-6 months. He promised to "jetski" his way to protecting our seas from China. However, instead of going after giant cartels, his presidency claimed countless innocent lives, mostly members of the lower class, in Filipino, "mga miyembre ng laylayan," the poorest of the poor. (Read: Kian delos Santos). Under the Duterte administration, the dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.– who was toppled in a dramatic revolution in 1986–was buried in the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (National Heroes' Cemetery). This act happened so brazen, so evil, like a thief in the night, just like how the Marcoses managed to escape the country on the eve of Feb. 25, 1986, the Filipino people were left aghast and deeply offended, betrayed. How can they bury a man–who pillaged and raped his country of its resources, stole $10B by the end of his regime, killed 3,000 people, tortured 34,000, silenced press freedom–in a plot where supposed heroes and veterans who have actually done good for their country? It's maddening. By allowing the Marcoses to bury their father in a heroes' cemetery, the Dutertes handed one of the last nails in the coffin to reinforce a Marcos comeback in the highest position in the country. This is not something that happened overnight. This was years of manipulation, fake news, gaslighting, and rebranding concocted by the Marcoses, with the help of Cambridge Analytica. Big tech like Facebook and Tiktok are complicit in this scheme by letting online trolls paid by the Marcoses parade online with their fake news and historical revisionism. Because of this plot, the Marcoses gained a massive following of misinformed folks who are mostly poor, with no proper access to education and information. What's even more heartbreaking is that the Philippines' education system has also failed in protecting its history because of inaccessibility and poverty caused by, guess what, corruption!
Hope is barely scraping by. We're calling this election rigged because of broken vote counting machines, rampant vote buying and illegal campaigning. Our Commission on Elections is headed by three Duterte appointees, and a former lawyer of younger Marcos. The official logistics partner in this year's election is a known ally of the outgoing president. The Senate's electoral committee is headed by Imee Marcos, the sister of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Falling behind Marcos' bid for presidency is our outgoing Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo. Leni is a dream candidate, with a "fine record in public service and no taint of corruption." Leni led a massive pink revolution, earning support from the youth and the working class. She and her ally, Kiko Pangilinan who is vying for the VP seat, led thousands in provincial rallies, and close to a million people in their final meet last May 7. It's heartbreaking to see this come to this because we have the perfect candidates on paper and yet we are being robbed once again by the same people who brought this country to ruin.
I cry while I write this because this is how I watch my country fail my generation, the future generations, the poor, and the disadvantaged. Through Facebook memes and TikTok trolls who revel and praise a thief and liar as their president.

Election anxiety has caught up with me, and yes, I do avoid politics as much as possible on my anime social media, but to be honest having a dictator's son as a presidential candidate vs an economist-lawyer who's million years ahead in qualifications as MY president is something I didn't expect to be anxious with, but here we are.
And yes, I'm voting for Leni Robredo as President and Kiko Pangilinan as Vice-President.

Note
who's your VP, and why?
My Vice President is Kiko Pangilinan, here are the reasons why:
1.) NOT corrupt. He has never been involved in any case or anomaly in his 20 years of public service.
2.) After Kiko Pangilinan's senate term expired, he did not run as congressman. Instead he went into farming.
6.) He is a lawyer (graduated from UP Diliman) and he has Masters in Public Administration in Harvard University. Big YES to his academic degree!
Remember: When you choose a Vice President, keep in mind that the person should also be qualified to be president. Because when the worst thing happens, the VP will succeed as president. In our history, four VPs have assumed the unexpired term of the preceding presidents.
To know more about Senator Kiko Pangilinan, see this:
