finally finished the other skyrim character ref sheet i was working on!!! here's my boy kiinuraru, bastard destruction mage who is secretly a huge dweeb.

i talked a little bit about how i came up with his name here, if u wanna read that.

some fun facts about kiinu:

he's pretty short! obviously you can't really change character height in vanilla skyrim, but i imagine kiinu is about 5'1" or 5'2" with shoes.

he has several older siblings back in elsweyr, and a few working in cyrodiil.

he originally came to skyrim with the intent of getting training as a scribe and illuminator of religious texts. obviously, that didn't work out.

he's… kind of the equivalent of a weeb, but for nord culture? he thinks their written script is really cool looking, and he claims to know a bunch of (inaccurate) things about the nord pantheon and nord history that he clearly just heard secondhand or thirdhand from caravan merchants as a kid.

the scar under his eye is from the dragon attack in helgen. it's probably just from a piece of flying debris or something, but if anyone asks he'll say it's from the dragon's claws.

also, as a bonus, here's a version of the sheet with the gradient map as just a normal mode layer instead of a soft light mode layer. i thought it looked kinda neat. i think it's at 80% opacity here.

this is how i get my colors to look cohesive, btw! i usually put a gradient map over the whole piece at anywhere between 15-80% opacity on either soft light layer mode or overlay layer mode, depending on the mood im going for. it works pretty well!

recently discovered tumblr has a new feature to prevent people from reblogging certain posts, so i guess i am going to start posting WIPs again now >:3 here is a sketch of one of my skyrim characters! a little about him under the cut.

this is kiinuraru. he is primarily a destruction magic user, though he also dabbles in restoration. i am trying my best to play him solely as a magic user, but sometimes a bitch needs a melee weapon, so i also gave him a sword with a soul trap enchantment just in case of emergencies.

his name, btw, is sort of made up? but also its sort of a combo of two different names i found on behindthename dot com, here:

"kīnu," which basically means "true," i yoinked from the akkadian spelling/pronunciation of the name sargon. "-rāru" i got from an ancient assyrian name by shortening "nērāru," which means "helper." obviously, i had originally intended him to be primarily a restoration magic user, but it turns out i like fireballs too much! lol.

why did i choose to represent the long marks as a doubled vowel in one place but not the other? idk, dont think too hard about it, i just liked how it looked as "kiinuraru" better than "kiinuraaru." its skyrim okay im not trying to be THAT linguistically intense here.

so yeah. thats my newest little guy!
