back in the day during my first round of hardcore fandom and fanfic writing, it seemed like 75% of us were liberally distributed between 15-25 and some of THE BEST writers were in that 25% of the 25 and up group

and a lot of us who were writing then either kept writing or have come back to writing now, so

do people think it's like time for meryl streep or angela bassett or jane fonda or lily tomlin or julia roberts or amy pohler or mindy kaling or kiera knightley or lupita nyong'o jennifer lawrence or emma watson or priyanka chopra or blake lively or gemma chan to stop acting?

I HOPE EVERYONE KNOWS PEOPLE OVER 20 HAVE HOBBIES (I listed a lot of actresses, and acting is their job, but I wanted to prove a point about female actresses because it’s an easy thing to show how/why age shouldn’t matter for craft, and to pursue it as they age typically is hard fought and I’m assuming that takes passion for something they love, not just “a job”)

WE SPEND MOST OF OUR LIVES BEING MORE THAN 20 YEARS OLD, WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO ENJOY THE YEARS DOING WHATEVER WE WANT AND ENCOURAGING EVERYONE ELSE AROUND US TO DO THE SAME

and here’s the thing… the reason I’m saying this is that we’ve all been mainstream socialized to think that adults have to “adult” but ESPECIALLY women are relegated to nothingness

intentionally

and it’s tragic

and we all deserve better and we all deserve more, and for a long time I didn’t think that, so this is me owning what I’ve had to embrace belatedly

married or single, parent or without progeny, women. get. to. enjoy. life.

Because at the end of the day don’t we all deserve to carve out the happiness we can manage to find/pursue/bring into our lives? Don’t we?

If anyone else does read this, I hope you either know this about yourself or start to believe it for yourself or that you start to think that maybe someday you can think this for you

You can submit as many families as you want, but don't submit the same one multiple times. (You are however not prohibited from submitting a family, that you know someone else has already submitted.)
