There is nothing more stressful than not knowing if you've passed #alportsyndrome onto your children.
I know we'll have the answers one day, but until then. It's going to be nothing but stress and worry for the futures of both my kids.
I understand that the mutation in alport is in the X gene, and the chances of passing alport onto my son in my Y gene are slim. But it still doesn't stop me from worrying.
It doesn't stop me from stressing about my future with both my children.
Are they going to see their father go through dialysis and transplant?
Am I going to see my daughter lose her sight and vision as a child? Not to mention will she have to go through dialysis and transplant.
Is my son going to go through the same things?
Or are both of my children going to live long healthy lives, and be hit with guilt that it could be my grandchildren affected by the disease.
Tonight is a stressful night.
